Anyway, due to the fact that I've been reading the damn books since they came out, I want to read the next one Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I know some of you are fortunate enough to have read it already, but for those of us who haven't---spare the details.

When does it come out in America--I know it's soon

I think HP is an excellent series from J.K. Rowling. I cannot wait for the new book to arrive in stores. I think it is either today or the 25th. I am not sure. My favorite book was the 4th.

the book comes out at midnight on the 16th so tonight/tomorrow depending on how u caluculate midnight. i luv all the books and they only get better and better...so far i like the fifth one

My friends and I (who are all 18 or older) are going to Barnes and Nobles little party thing at around 11.

At 12:01 we can get our reserved copies! YAY!

Instead of the book costing us 25 it will only cost us 15 since we reserved by a certain date! So double YAY!

In the US the book comes out on July 16th. thats tomorrow. I like the books I read them all and I can't wait untill tomorrow to get the sixth book.

I'm at my bookshop tonight waiting for the book! They seriously kick ass!

The new one come's out at 12:01am so technically tomorrow morning FIRST thing. So Saturday July 16th 2005 for Ontario Canada.

I only want it cuz I bought the other book's I didnt start reading them until way after I bought them for my Mum... she kept saying they were good *shrugs* I like em .. and I like the biography on the writer!

I'm keeping up with the movies. Short attention span.....

I have only seen the movies. But I will say they were really neat. I have a great love of fantasy and the Harry Potter series seems to take fantasy to a whole new level.

Ive only read a few pages into it only cuz my sister just showed up at my door at one this morning saying she stole it and she knew i wanted it and since it had only been out less then a min that now i have it and i cant wait to read it! ive read all the other which i know is pathetic but i cant help it, its so fuckin addictin

Harry Potter Books are NOT pathethic...but oi! they're for children (yes, classified in Children's Lit) and of course, the Author, Rowling, is good...so it's NOT pathetic..i like it even!

I love Harry Potter, I just ordered the sixth book and hopefully I will get in a few days... I can't wait...

And yea, after reading about Sirius death I got really angry since he was one of my favourite characters... and I swore to never read HP again...

With all seriousness this is a cool set of books, I have them all, except the new one which actually was released here in Australia today lol (July 16th) As for when you'll get it I dunno.

If you have young children, read it to them. If your kids are old enough to read to themselves, buy the set, it is brilliant, I have yet to find a kid that doesn't like them., and I'm hard pressed to find a big kid that doesn't like it either lol .....

For all of you trashing the series... Get Real. This is one of the greatest things to happen to literature in quite some time.
No, I'm not anywhere near obsessed with them myself. I've read all the books out so far, and seen the first two movies. I enjoyed them, but I'm far from rabid over them. I'll read the new one when I get a chance.

But, Rowling has earned massive respect from me for one thing. She's gotten millions of kids to actually start reading. It'a amazing how many kids have actually started reading outside of school work solely because of these books. Honestly, Rowling deserves at least a Nobel Prize or something.

as far as the movies go, I don't like them as much they leave to much out.

I bougt it this morning @ Zellers for $14 and thats perdy darn good cuz the cheapest place I could find it for was Wal-Mart for $26 and I had a copy on hold at Cole's .. and I knew I wouldnt get a very good deal!
Anyways when I Have time to read I don't put a book down for hours .. so I'm on Chapter 11. But I definantly agree with you TD .. I've certianly seen an incline in the reading program's most of the program's I run atleast 1 child will have one of those books with em!

Wal-mart at 12:01 this morning was not pretty. I did manage to shove my way through the crowd and get my book. Waited 15 minutes at the checkout, paid my $16, and got the hell out of there. As always (I have no will power) I read the last few pages. ( Before you ask no it doesn't ruin the book for me. LOL) I'm not happy. I will leave it at that. I don't want to spoil it for anyone else. On that note I don't think I will be any happier after I finish it either.

i think that from what i've read sofar this is a great boof (the 6th one) i however will not be able to beat my record of getting through it that i set for myself with the last book (3 days) so i'll just read this one as fast as i can get the good stuff the read it again to understand everything

I was watching an interview with her and the crew of the hp movies. I remeber looking at her with hatred and jealousy because she knows how it all ends she knows what happens. That's good for her because I want to know too damn it!

You don't have to be a certain age to enjoy Harry Potter. Children's Lit, or not. You'd think youth when you hear Jim Henson, but there are alot of great movies he did that we all enjoy.

I agree with NightBlossom...you should read the other five books before you decide to criticize anything..I loved the first five books and the three movies..I am currently reading the sixth book...as for the very top question of this forum...I was extrememly pissed that Sirius died...I do on the other hand like how he went down fighting with an attitude...it was honorable..but the death eaters still have my favorite characters in the books.

The greatest literary works of the 21st century? Please. They are clever, reasonably well-written, childrens books. Some of the greatest childrens literature of the 21st century? Sure. They've had a huge impact on society, and they are important, if nothing else then getting children to read willingly. But calling a series of childrens books the greatest literary works of this century... I think is majorly pushing it.

okay toiletduc, name one other author that is as critically acclaimed as JK Rowling. Name one author that has brought such and impact--good and bad--to us since 2000--this is the 21st century. I have not heard so many people fuss over anything this much since tickle me elmo. Name one and I'll take back what I said.

J. K. Rowling actually origionally wrote them for adults, but the publishers told her they should be under children's books

I just started reading the 6th book, its good sofar but its taking me a little longer to finish it. the 5th book only took me 21 hours to read. all in one day. and i took very few brakes but with this book I'm all ready into the second day and I'm only half way done. but I did sleep and go to work though

I haven't even started the 6th bookk yet and I got it the day it came out. My friend has already read it and it only took her 9 hours in one day.....

Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on this book. I love Harry Potter---I've read each and every book since i was in High School.....awesome series ;)

The Harry Potter books rock!! Ive read them all quite a few times, and I really enjoy them. I do agree that somehow they should bring back Sirius. It just wasnt right that he died. I went out the first day the sixth book "Half Blood Prince" and bought it. Ive already read the sixth book twice and its pretty good. The only thing I have wrong with the sixth book is that they kill another one of my favorite characters. I wont tell you who, you'll just have to read it. Have fun reading.
