i was thinking the other day what if you could track ur forum posts in another way like when u post a new thread have it send u updates as to see if u have any responses instead of having to search for it what do u guys think
that would be really useful but how are we goin to make a change if you are not management????
i was hoping cancer would read this and see it to be a great addition
i think that would be a good idea that way u can read the all the feedback. someone on management should read this
*pats self on back for the good idea* yes i am hoping someone will
i don't know why i am saying sorry i just wanted to be polite you know??????
and because you wanted the management to read it .. so
i don't know...
lol yes politeness is always a plus but i didnt really find anything offensive but i thank you for the apology
that would be a hell of a lot of messages youd be getting lol
Its a great idea. A lot of other message boards do this. I would think it would be a natural next step for VR.
Meh. I don't know.
I don't think I'd want 400 messages telling me someone said, "I agree!" or "Great Idea!"
I think it'd be a huge pain in the ass for Cancer to do, also. It's easy enough to simply look at the thread. If it says, "NEW!" there have been new postings.
*shrug*
Not much effort to see if there have been new postings. I think that was the point of the "NEW!".
i think that would be better just have it emailed to you even easier
Req, I can totally see your point there. Now that I think about it, a lot of ppl would be so busy reading their email they'd never make it over here, esp. if they're heavy posters.
It would almost have to be user selectable to be worth it. IE, be able to mark certain threads that carry certain interest to you to alert you when posts are made.
Personally, even though it could be nice, I think the new tags on threads cover this issue well enough.
I agree with Requiem.
I only start a thread when I know Im going to be around for a couple fo hours, so it can get going.
I just keep checking the Forum, and I would't want toget a message for one of those oh-so-intelligent posts like "Yes" or "No".
Scroll to the bottom of the threds .. just underneath the sandbox ... and there is a Forums Search Tool... Use it!!!!
Good point, or just keep an eye on your thread if its that important to you.
i was thinking more along the lines of a tool u could use or not use like an option a routable option
Yeah, I get your point, and it could still get a bit annoying, but if it was an option that you could you use and turn on and off, it would be more useful.
I'm with Nicnivian, theres a search button.... use it! The system was just renovated and upgraded it'd be a while for your idea to be applied. Did you think about the money it may cost?
Listen, I'm an OP for DC++, do you know how many assholes ask for something in the main chat and get the same answer always, use that new thing they made its a marvel of technology.... its called SEARCH. I'm sorry, but I have to deal with people like u on a daily basis who can't figure out what a search engine is.
maybe a daily update, instead of an update each time... ? that might be a little easier on everyone...
I am with Echo and Requiem, I do not start threads that I do not want to follow up on. If they are still in solid play they usuall stay on the front page.
Plus now that the crap threads are being killed off, the good ones are staying on top!!
Just imagine how many e-mails you would get, clearly we like your topic choices ;)
This has been suggested in various forms several times.
If there is a certain thread you want to keep an eye on, you can always bookmark it.
I doubt I will combine the Forum and Message Center. To date over 2 million VR messages have been sent and there are over 150,000 currently stored in the database. Putting more stress on that system is asking for trouble.
There are some other Forum updates I am considering, but they are pretty low on my to-do list.
well my goal is completed cancer had saw it and has commented on it as well as to all you people getting anal and being sarcastic "its called SEARCH" i am a network and database guy so i know what would be involved and if you think its not a good idea dont be a dick about it just say your point thats all i need and thx for all the comments on this thread from the people who supported it
yea Fritz...u kno ur comment makes me want to scream asshole! btw
i TOO THINK i WOULD GET TIRED OF HEARING THAT YOU HAVE MESSAGES WAITING SOUND CLIP, i WILL JUST LOOK... oops sorry bout the caps.
she's right about the sound clip... it's enough to drive you bonkers.. :-)
wow, Cancer ansered... He said no, but He answered...
( . ) ( . ) LOOK! lol
You can turn audible message notification on or off via the Message Center page.
*blushes at being noticed*
*goes to turn off the voice... even though it has a cool accent... *
Thanks Sir Cancer
Can't even post yet, but good idea. Also probably not gonna happen.
put it under your favriots and you won;t have to look for it
what i feel is if it aint broke why fix it and i don't find anything about the RAVE to be broke....
I agree it would be a great idea, if it didn't blog down your emails or the system. As said, the thread will say new next to it if something was added.
This thread, I think, has served it's purpose. It's turned into a plethora of "Cool idea" posts, as well as a conversation between the thread creator and one other member. Please keep converations of that sort in messages or the Sandbox.
