okay just because i've been talking to alot of people about it lately:
Reincarnation is widely accepted in many religions and i'm curious as to what views people have on it.
my friends say that they have had previous lives and many actually have seen them through meditation, one of my friends was actually the mate of her current bf when they were cats in their last life. she knows how she died and has actually found pictures of her previous life online. she has found a group that has slowly grown due to a strange bond that brings them together as if their old lives were guiding them to the spirits of their companions (aka a wolf pack finding itself being complete again through the group)
i'm curious about it since i feel i know things that i shouldn't and as a result think that i might have been a fox in a previous life due to some of the visions i've been getting while meditating lately. Anyone else feel the same way?
About reincarnation... i heard people say that when u get that feeling of "de-ja-vu" like vhen u go in a place/location where u never been there before and u have the feeling that it`s familliar somehow... they say that u`ve been there in your past life and that`s how u recognize the place. in my opinion... i really don`t know what to say about that...
I think that reincarnation could be possible. But what if it's just our way if defying death? What if we're all so afraid to die and find out that there is no afterlife that we just kind of created the idea of reincarnation to ease some of that fear?
yea its all tru i have seen my past life before become reborn u glimpse it
I believe in reincarnation. I believe that it is the explanation for all of those things about ourselves that we can't explain. The sense of deja vu when you go someplace that you know you have never been before. The feeling of already meeting somebody when you finally meet that guy everybody's been talking about.
All those little coincidences add up. Besides, we are all energy. While our Earthly bodies decompose when we die, what happens to our energy? It doesn't just disappear, not can it be destroyed.
Ahh yes.. re-incarnation could just be a way to displace fear... But I personally, even being a christian believe that re-incarnation is a process of of gaining knowledge, and even challenging yourself through various trails. I once met a psycic that told me that I had lived through 378 lives before this one, Im not to sure about that... But I Think I may have possibly lived a life before this one... Ill look into deep meditaion though.
I've been told by a psychic that I've lived 36 past lives before this one and that I've been a man in every one of them. I've also been told countless times through out my life that I have an "old soul".
Ok when we die, we die. Nobody will ever know what goes on after of even before.
It is possible that some of your energy is released into the world when you die and could join up with other energies in the formation of a new person.
I never truly believed in reincarnation, but over my lifetime, I've had numerous "memory flashes" of past lives....people, places, languages, events....many of which I could not possibly identify in this lifetime. I have yet to see a psychic or hypnotist about these flashes, but perhaps some day I will. I still have doubts about reincarnation (who truly knows if it is a real phenomenon?) but I don't totally discount it.
"Ok when we die, we die. Nobody will ever know what goes on after of even before."
Speek for yourself....
i believe that when u are reincarnated u still have some traits that you had in your life before
When I was younger I had a dream of myself dieing but my apperance was from another time. Years later my family moved to a house a house that I new every inch of before ever goin inside this house had been where i died in my dream so yes I absolutly beileve in Reincarnation.
I believe in Rincarnation personally.
I think the soul must go through several stages before it can be complete. How can it know what suffering is if it's known nothing but joy.. and Vice Versa... what is the point of joy if you've never suffered? It loses it's specialness...
The spirit moves up heirachy of sorts, learning lessons and trying to correct wrongs done to other spirits at various times.
i don't believe in re-incarnation at all...I think its a cop out for not doing what you can with the time you have here...There is no proof, nor anything other than wishful thinking that it is real...Deja vu?? Not past lives, because if that's proof of reincarnatino then you are just repeating the same crap all over in THE SAME TIME PERIOD and not getting any older...LOL...Logic people...logic....
I can't believe that this is the only shot we get to learn all we should.
But at the same time, I wouldn't want to leave regret to be a lesson I need to learn next turn of the wheel either, so its full life living for me right now.
What comes after, comes after.
:)
Believe in reincarnation...definately. I have an abiding memory of drowning...however, my mother says she doesn't ever remember me even coming close to having ever drowned.
And I get deja vu all the time. However, I know that it has nothing to do with a past life. I get dreams of things that will happen. Not any specific events....just moments. Such as...washing dishes, listening to the radio or TV...and knowing that I have done this before. Everything is just as I "remember" it. Same clothes, same dish, same song etc.
im still not sure whether or not to believe in reincarnation. im not convinced enough yet. so as for now i say its the end of it all when we die
i definitely believe in it. it doesn't make sense to me that we die and that's the end of it all. not a single element in the whole of creation is ever lost to nothingness. everything finds a new use and a new place in existence. even in science, energy cannot be created nor destroyed. why not the same with souls?
Reincarnations are indeed possible but should not be practiced without the real knowledge and awareness of what you are doing. Amatures should definately NOT do reincarnations.
umm... well first of all it's amateurs, not amaturs. second, how exactly is it possible to be an amateur in reincarnation? you're gonna reincarnate when you die whether you like it or not, and whether you're an 'amatur' or not. this doesn't make sense... are you sure you know what you're talking about?
lol i don't want to fight i just want to know what she's on about :)
I beleive in the possibility of everything.
What most of you misunderstand here,is that you think we re-incarnate immedietly after we die.
Could be but not necessary.
There are people who believe our spirit passes at least 100 years in another dimansion until it re-incarnates.
Well am not saying they're true but it an be very possibile since most people have a deja vu and dreams about other eras like Victorian times,Ancient Egypt etc...
Another misunderstanding is that people re-incarnate with exactly the same body.
No when you re-incarnate you have another body what remains the same of you is your spirit or soul whatever you want to call it.
I have dreams that I think they have to do with re-incanation.I find myself in different eras and in one of them I'm possibily an animal cause ,I see myself walking like an animal.
Ok they might be just my fantasy but why not a re-incarnation?
I know of people who have deja vus of other lives and the way they explainded it was incredible. But then who is to say that they were just kidding and wanted to play with my mind?
Also if it was possibile, not everyone is a re-incarnation.It's impossibile. If it was there would be no increase in population. Some are a re-incarnation,others are brand new.
That's why I believe in the possibility of re-incarnation,but I don't ignore the possibility of the afterlife and other dimensions.
There are also people who believe in energies.
That we leave energies in other lives but not spirits cause they don't believe in them.
It is possibile as well, since when you are alive and spent a long time somewhere when you're there again you feel like there is part of yourself left there.
Personally not a big believer of Reincarnation and many things. Something that is a big possibility in my thoughts is that Reincarnation.. religion.. etc is all just a scam of sorts. Something made to sugar coat oblivion of nothing. I mean think of how many individuals would be absolutely cruel if they knew that their life.. their loves.. everything that has happened in their life.. everything was for nothing. Maybe it's all just something to keep civilized order.
But I'm agnostic, so I'm not saying any of this is true, or that I believe it, it's just something that has been toiling with my mind now and then.
There are methods how to find it.
Meditation iso ne of them and there are some who use spells.
However I can't understand how your friend could find pics of her on-line.
Anyway re-incarnation will always be a mystery.
I have always heard that you cannot regress to something lower on the spiritual ladder than you, and that animals have their own karmic/spiritual journey, separate, yet interwoven with ours.
I believe in reincarnation. I regressed myself to a different time once, with the help of a tape. I was an overweight, older man, living in an old village. I can see the grass type material on the huts, in a closely knit community. I had a family. I can still see this all. I was happy, and content, with a wife and several kids. I am not sure where it was. England? Ireland? Scotland? I was forwarded to my deathbed, where I was lying there, surrounded by my family and well wishers. I was at peace. I was not afraid. Not like I am now of the end. I also have an intense fear of cutlery, and I believe that I died in a beheading of something of that nature. I hate to even talk about it.
There has been a lot of discussion already on Vampire Rave in the forums on this subject, but since it hasn't been discussed in a while and Jamie made an input I won't rip it ;)
lol hey so long as i don't come back as a human im happy lol
I also have a friend that knows about his past lives through meditation. I'm not that advanced yet in meditation so I can't speak for me but he can recount the old lives, what he did, and can still feel the wounds he got from the wars. So yes I believe in it. I know he can still feel the wounds cause I can see the pain in his eyes when it comes about.
What do you think about the being able to feel pain from past lives?
smiles
Jamie
im Curios theres something i do not get
i know admin is biz at moment with houses and stuff
but if you get the chance lol
msg
smiles
It can be possibile as well, even certain phobias.
And what if we pass from the same expiriences in every of our reincarnations?
I believe that can be possibile as well.
And how about those people who don't feel they belong to this world?Or maybe older than the ones of their age....
But they can be coincidances as well...
I would love to go into a past life regression.....but, no one around here is willing to do it.
I believe somewhat in reincarnation but only when you haven't lived out your life plan...Whether set by yourself or some higher power...Reincarnation may be possible...All you have to do is die...But then we are all Vampires...We neva die...
vampires can die by the methods used to kill us, ive wondered myself whether or not we would reincarnate, or what happens when we a gone.
In some cultures reincarnation is widely accept...where others don't. In a way i believe in reincarnation but not fully. I do think that when anything dies some of its energy remains.
i believe that we are reincarnated at death because its all a dream until we die so we have past lives but they are one after another you just hafta be in withurself to see what all has happened in them .....idk thats just my input
I definetely believe in reincarnation...I know that I was a cat in one of my past lives... I feel like Ive definetely lived more than 2 lives though...Im not sure...thats just what I believe...believe what you want...
I believe in reincarnation, haveing undertaken regression, there are things that I have had checked.....from the scenarios i exeperienced......together with having certain gifts.....I am not called the Death child for nothing....by my family...
I believe in reincarnation. I don't know why but I really think that we all had severall lives before the one we have now and that there are more coming after our death.
I also believe that reincartation is possible we will live many lives after we die
okay since i think i know what the problem was with the whole "not having an amateur do it" misunderstanding. i'd like to reiterate this is about reincarnation not resurrection.
my friend found the pics by looking up "gray cat" because that was what she was. she was taken care of by an old lady that took pictures, that's how she found her pic.
looks to be a good descussion so far. after doing some reviews into some books i've had i'm thinking that the people saying the soul can come back to experience things and right wrongs done to it are right.
i have alot of people that say something happened in their previous life and they were actually mad about it. the girl i've been talking about wants to find the kittens that she had, a worthy goal in my opinion.
as for me i'm believing it is possible i've got a lot of theories on the topic:
the soul= the very being of a person, what makes them what they are without the physical aspect of being.
reincarnation= the ability of the soul to find a new body
in theory one i think that it is very possible for people to come back to right wrongs. what happens is the soul is to overburdened with grief and must choose to remain a wondering soul, a ghost, or take on a new body. the new body must be in it's first stage of development to be accessible to the soul.
After this point the soul can go through it's life in the new body though the body may not know of the existence of the soul without a catalyst, meditation or spells. when this has happened the body can carry out righting the wrongs of what has happened in a previous life. when all has been taken care of the soul can then go into another place of being after the body dies. this could be "heaven" or "hell" or whatever other places there are
this theory only works when the soul is in grief though and obviously some souls would end up taking many bodies if it did not get the retribution it seeked, thus bringing about "old" souls.
just to quickly add this in: some souls can go to these other realms and when that occurs another soul is made in it's place to keep the balance of souls and bodies. this does not always occur however and without a soul a body can never truly live.
I'm torn on the subject. We might just all be afraid of dying, and caving in for the power of suggestion. Or we might all be resicled souls. No help in this respons, I know..
i have mixed feelings about it. in a way i like the idea, but at the same time the thought scares me. no matter if i like the idea or not though, i do no beleive in it.
hmm i beleive in re-incarnation and that when you die your spirit passes on to the next body born after you die althought there is no way to tell for sure there is a point as to where your spirits must go and if theres body spare they dont wander the plaines they move of to the next life
truthfully I think that everyone is a reicarnation of somone or somthing in a former life. True, you can find out about your past life by meditation or hypnosis..Or at times, if you are really curious, things may come to you maybe in a dream, or just in a picture..You never really know...
LOL knowing my luck i would be reincarnated as david hasselhoffs daughter EWWWW
or maybe just goto the floating island of mundango
where there is no greed or violence and
where i would live a life of wine drinking and hot steamy sex
Many Buddhists believe that our soul is reincarnated because there are so many things we are supposed to learn about life that one lifetime is simply not enough. They believe that throughout many lifetimes you learn many things and gain a heightened state of conciousness. Once you have adopted the highest level of mental being, you reach a state of "nirvana" or perfection, at which point you are transformed into a celestial being, like a deity, where you exist as one with the universe and the gods. Personally, this type of belief suits me best as I do think we are here to learn something, and I truly don't believe that 90 years is long enough to learn it, in the grand scheme of things.
going by the bible (with ellijah) reincarnation is supposedly possible...but personally i do not think it is
I nelieve that there are still traces of your past life left. Its natural for somethings to be left behind. Have you every felt like you are missing a part of yourself? Maybe you feel like your missing wings or are to short. So maybe you were some sort of winged craeture, or something very tall. Thats just my view.
first of all, I can't fucking spell I know this shit already thank you very much. 2 know knowing what the hell you are doing makes you unknowning. 3 you have no idea what forces you would be playing with, you don't know what would be happen to someone else somewhere else or anything else.
Very nice theories novarius and others' opinions.
However sometimes people say they beleive in re-incarnation causet hey can't accept teh fact for mortality.
I'm not ridiculing the concept of reincarnation by this but it's true taht certain people want to believe in it for this reason.
And yes even with these things you have to be careful. If you want to find out about it be sure that you're ready to find out all types of results or that your reaseacrh is not going to be successful for that time.
The recycling of souls…Hmmmm…Do we have a deposit on it as well? There are things that have happened in my life that I can not explain. From seeing places I have never been and knowing things that I have never learned. Is it reincarnation, I am not sure but it would seem that way.

i think reincarnation is possible. But it all depends on the type of person you are and what you believe in...
i believe that being reincarnated is possible I personally haven't done anything to see if I myself have been through such an experience but my gf has had a phycic told her she's been through about 23 different lives before this one. Also there is the fact that on the news there were children, no older then 4 that have said to see how they died in their past life and have been able to go into detail over it like how they died what they were killed with and even in some cases who killed them.
no efence 2 anyone here, but im an athiest. i dont believe in it. but the rest of my family does.
Personally, I am a serial reincarnator. So I believe. And as for the problems of time periods and such, time is but another set of dimensions. Without the body, the soul is not bound to only move forward in time, and can move backwards, or perhaps even sideways. Wrap your paradigm around that o.O
And as for the argument that this is another way of not facing the reality of death, I argue that this is not my choice of an "afterlife". I want nothing more than my drink from the river Lethe (for those of you familiar with Greek mythology) and my eternity of nothingness in the Elysian fields. But just because I do not want reincarnation doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It quite obviously does, or I would already be in my desired location.
I was born christian still am a little, but i still believe. a friend read my mindonce and told me I lived three lives before, one was a wolf's life. So I do believe.
I think it's possible, but also how would population growth affect re-incarnation, or are there new spirits aswell?
there are those who believe that the energy that creates our souls can split off and join with other peices to make another. but i believe not only that but that energy can be created but not destroyed so new souls are always being created
I remember one time when someone said to me that "if reancanation is real you could be me in another life" i swear its lyrics from limp bizkit but the thoughts there
There's a good mix of people here so I was just wondering...
Does anyone have any theories on whether or not animals can be reincarnated? Are we ever animals?
lillyrose i think that animals can be reincarnated and we could have been animals in past lifes cause i soul is a soul which body it takes to occupy gives what lifeform it is but it still has the ability to go to a different being or animal when its reincarnated
If you've ever owned a semi-intelligent pet, you crush the belief that animals have no souls.
Unless you have a really evil cat. =^o^=
I believe in reincarnation for a number of reasons, many of them already pointed out in some of the earlier posts, so I won't bother repeating things already stated.
There are all sorts of theories on the subject, but the fact that this belief is something that has existed for years in the diverse cultures all throughout the world, many of which at the time they first began embracing the concept of reincarntion had little or no contact with one another, would suggest that they had some very strong evidence which lead them to belive that such a thing was not only possible, but quite probable.
Granted I don't believe that every person I encounter who claims to be a reincarnated soul is so in truth.
Deja vu and phobias and so on are not a solid proof that one lived before. A possible indicater, but hardly concrete proof.
well to throw out a theory my friend holds and i somewhat believe is possible is this:
(to go with the population growth question)
many people and animals have souls that are new... in other words in many circumstances new souls are brought into being or quiet simply you can make a corrolation between the fact that while humans have been increasing in # the animals have been decreasing... i'm not saying go kill people and the animals will come back.
so far i've enjoyed reading the thread. you all have good insight, for those that don't just agree (not to be cruel but i have noticed this alot in posts).
Reincarnation is not something you can will, even the Buddhists know this. It is something that happens (like sneezing), or not; what we can do through rigorous training is influence - not control - the outcome of our next incarnation - or not. The goal of every Mahayana Buddhist is to attain enlightenment in this life so as NOT to reincarnate EVER AGAIN and thereby stop the cycle of death and rebirth. This is in fact the WHOLE POINT to Mahayana Buddhist meditative practice. To stop the cycle of "death and rebirth" in other words: 'reincarnation.'
Now, what your next life will be after this one or what form you will manifest in is a matter of conjecture, much the same way people 'think' they know who / what they once were... but I don't think there can trully be a definite answer on that, nor do I think that it even matters much who you once were to who you are now. I mean, I could have been one of the seven Cleopatras to hold the throne of ancient Egypt... big sh*t! How does that information help me pay my car bill today? It doesn't.
Past life regression... it's useless. It's entertainment. You know what I mean?
If it really mattered who / what we were in another life to anyone today, we would be born with complete memories of all these past lives. And I've never met anyone who even came close to remembering anything concrete on their past lives.
I can't say for sure what happens.
But I must say, Reincarnation is the only one a mass amount of people can vouch for...other options don't really have anybody that can come back and tell you about it. :)
Maybe that's the appeal of reincarnation? It has a level of verifiability...
As far as my personal opinion, I do believe in reincarnation. I believe each life is completing us just a little more as a soul, and eventually we are able to live lives as we choose them, knowing our past lives, knowing all of ourself.
Weird thing is, I don't know of any of my previous lives. However, I've had many people tell me the same thing about one of my lives and who I was...with that many people that don't know eachother telling me, I can't hide from it.
Best of luck in your ventures to find your own beliefs.
A) Reincarnation in Eastern religions
The reincarnation of an entity defined as the core of human existence (atman or purusha) following a cycle that implies many lives and bodies, is not such an old concept as it is pretended today. It is neither a common element for most of the oldest known religions, nor does its origin belong to an immemorial past.
The classic form of the reincarnation doctrine was formulated in India, but certainly not earlier than the 9th century BC, when the Brahmana writings were composed. After the Upanishads (7th to 5th century BC) clearly defined the concept, it was adopted by the other important Eastern religions which originated in India, Buddhism and Jainism. Due to the spreading of Buddhism, reincarnation was later adapted in Chinese Taoism, but not earlier than the 3rd century BC.
The ancient religions of the Mediterranean world developed quite different kinds of reincarnationist beliefs. For instance, Greek Platonism stated the pre-existence of the soul in a celestial world and its fall into a human body due to sin. In order to be liberated from its bondage and return to a state of pure being, the soul needs to be purified through reincarnation. In stating these beliefs Plato was strongly influenced by the earlier philosophical schools of Orphism and Pythagoreanism. The first important Greek philosophical system that adopted a similar view on reincarnation to Hinduism was Neo-Platonism, born in the 3rd century AD, under certain Eastern influences.
In the case of ancient Egypt, The Egyptian Book of the Dead describes the travel of the soul into a next world without coming back to earth. As it is well known, the ancient Egyptians embalmed the dead in order that the body might be preserved and accompany the soul into that world. This rather suggests their belief in resurrection than in reincarnation. Likewise, in many cases of ancient tribal religions that are credited today with holding to reincarnation, it is rather a belief in the pre-existence of the soul before birth or its independent survival after death that is taught. This has no connection with the classic idea of transmigration from one physical body to another, according to the demands of an impersonal law such as karma.
Immortality in the Vedic hymns and the Brahmanas
At the time the Vedic hymns were written, the belief was that man continues to exist after death as a whole person. Between man and gods was stated an absolute distinction, as in all other polytheistic religions of the world. The concept of an impersonal fusion with the source of all existence, as later stated in the Upanishads, was far away. Here are some arguments for this thesis that result from the exegesis of the funeral ritual:
1. As was the case in other ancient religions (for instance those of Egypt and Mesopotamia), the deceased was buried with food and clothing necessary in the afterlife. More than that, the belief of ancient Aryans in the preservation of personal identity after death led them to incinerate the dead husband together with his (living) wife and bow so that they could accompany him in the afterlife. In some parts of India this ritual was performed until the British colonization.
2. Similar to the tradition of ancient Chinese religion, the departed relatives constituted a holy hierarchy. The last one deceased was commemorated individually for a year after his departure and then included in the mortuary offerings of the monthly shraddha ritual (Rig Veda 10,15,1-11). This ritual was necessary because the dead could influence negatively or positively the life of the living (Rig Veda 10,15,6).
3. According to Vedic anthropology, the components of human nature are the physical body, ashu and manas. Ashu represents the vital principle (different from personal attributes), and manas the sum of psycho-mental faculties (mind, feeling and will). The belief in the preservation of the three components after death is proved by the fact that the family addressed the departed relative in the burial ritual as a unitary person: "May nothing of your manas, nothing of the ashu, nothing of the limbs, nothing of your vital fluid, nothing of your body here by any means be lost" (Atharva Veda 18,2,24).
Yama, the god of death (mentioned in old Buddhist and Taoist scriptures too) was sovereign over the souls of the dead and also the one who received the offerings of the family for the benefit of the departed. In the Rig Veda it is said about him: "Yama was the first to find us our abode, a place that can never be taken away, where our ancient Fathers have departed; all who are born go there by that path, treading their own" (Rig Veda 10,14,2). Divine justice was provided by the gods Yama, Soma and Indra, not by an impersonal law such as karma. One of their attributes was to cast the wicked into an eternal dark prison out of which they can never escape (Rig Veda 7,104,3-17).
The premise for reaping the reward of one’s life in a new earthly existence (instead of the heavenly afterlife) appeared in the Brahmana writings (9th century BC). They stated a limited heavenly immortality, depending on the deeds and the quality of the sacrifices performed during life. After reaping the reward for them, man has to face a second death in the heavenly realm (punarmrityu) and therefore return to an earthly existence. The proper antidote against this situation came to be considered esoteric knowledge, attainable only during one’s earthly existence.
I believe that reincarnation is the means through which we all learn the meaning of life; it isn't the individual but the soul that must learn this before it can rest. It will certainly take several lifespans before the soul has learned what it can, and so it is reincarnated in another life to recieve more lessons.
I also believe that a life may contain several lessons for the soul, or just one, but every life has a purpose. I've yet to really learn about any past lives, although the two things I've figured out are that 1) this trip is only the second or third that I've made and 2) I committed suicide in my last life.
Vampirism is a mark that travels with the soul from life to life; it is the gift/curse of this energy-deficient soul that makes us vampires.
On a related topic, which I mentioned briefly above, what are some peoples' views on suicide & reincarnation? What does suicide do to a soul? How does it affect future lives?
i have been told i am an 'old soul'.. i believe in reincarnation and i know 3 of my past lives. i was a musician in the 1500's, a mother who died giving birth to her 6th child and a warrior, but the dates are unclear..
I believe in carnation, but it is too complicated to explain here message me to talk about it.
I think this is it.But i have heard if u dont finish life,u have 2 start over. Also the way we handle our situation has a big efect on us later on....if i have 2 come back{hope not} let me come as a cat.....
i think i might have been a cat my last life cause i love them to no end and have 7
Like all things unexplainable, I take the agnostic approach and say that there is a possibility that this happens. There are times when I feel like I am remembering something from another lifetime so I favor the possibility.
I do not know whether or not reincarnation is real or not, but it is an interesting subject.
though meditation is a way for people to find out they had past lives. It wasnt how i found out that i was born with the spirits of two vampires. vampires that have already lived their own lifetimes. so most definitely i believe in reincarnation.
so i believe that most people here agree that reincarnation is a definate thing in this world and the next
i myself dont think its real but with the accounts of ppls experiences there must be some truth in it
I believe somewhat in reincarnation but only when you haven't lived out your life plan. Whether set by yourself or some higher power. Reincarnation may be possible. All you have to do is die. But then we are all Vampires. We never die.
Lily, maybe animals are a reincarnation of a person and then they reincarnate into another person again.
Beware I'm going to be back :P
i know. i remember much of my previous lives and the lives of those that are close to me.
I don't believe in reincarnation at all, it just doesn't make any sense at all to me... There's no proof that it really exist, which makes it even harder to believe. To have to live through one life is enough as it is, but having several? I can't imagine having been somewhere else than I am now...
And those who claim to have seen things from their past lives, I still can't believe that it's something else but their imagination going too far...
Let's say that reincarnation does exist, doesn't that mean that the same spirits who once lived in the Ancient Egypt for example are here with us today? That all of us are in fact old? Not sure if you get my point, but let me put it this way... Believing in reincarnation for me is like believing that someone or something decided to put several millions of people on this world, and never let them die but live on through different bodies, and if that's true then newborn babies aren't newborn at all, cause they've already lived hundreds of life before they came out of that woman's stomach...
I don't know about you guys, but if I had a baby knowing that she/he had had other parents before me, how could it be my baby then?
It's insane.
And I'm just rambling on, hope that at least a few of you get my point, and I need my coffee now...
Bloodrose that's why in one of my posts I said that if it existed not all of us are a reincarnate.
It would be impossibile cause that case there would be no increase in population.Certain people would be brand new in that case.
As for the baby...
Well what counts now is what and who you are now.
You're not Cleopatra if you are her reincarnate, what counts in your life is what/who you are now.
If you're a reincarnate you were that person in that life, now you have the same spirit/soul/w/e it is but you're a different someone.
That's the way I would think of it anyway.
That is true, and the population increases every day...
But then again, who decides who gets to reincarnate and who will just be left out? and how do you know who's lived several lives before and who's newborn? It's just confusing.
Hehe good retoric questions.
These are things we don't know while we'll be alive.
My toughts would be:
People who didn't get their dream come true so they get another chance,or people who made lots of mistakes and are given other chances...but who?...someone who believes in a god or goddesses/gods would say it would be them.
That's why I am agnostic and just say:It's possibile.
I first havd to say that I have really enjoyed this thread. I myself do believe in reincarnation, but don't think that you can really know what or when you lived before. I wholly agree with previous posts talking about the soul learning in repeated lifes. I really like that theory.
Reincarnation is very real in this world. It gives the soul a chance to live again and improve where they lacked before.
sometimes though one us reincarnated from the need to be in a place that only their past lives have been able to fill (just throwing that out there)
brain hurts... you guys are all making me think so hard now. so far all that i've read has legitimate ideas behind them. now i've gotta do hardcore research into the topic.
I dont believe in that type of stuff. when ur dead ur dead there is no coming back.
I must say that thinking about it, I have had a few experiences where I have had that feeling I have done something before. One prime example is when I am at a civil war reenactment. When ever I put on my uniform go into battle (79th NYSM) I forget that I am reenacting, and seem to move with the memory of a soldier long forgotton.
I response to people saying who they were in a previous life, I don't know if I would want to know. I mean, I would rather try to learn from this life,
i had plenty of past lives. in one of my past lives i think i was a member of the KKK.
I believe its good to know of your past life/lives. I feel that you would gain a better perspective of things.
im more than a few religion reincarnation is the attempt for your soul to keep growing, learning whatever it is that it's supposed to before going on to the next stage.
it's pointless to suggest that when you die, your soul dies with you. energy, even the spiritual kind, can't be destroyed, it can only be changed.
even if you don't remember a past life, that doesn't mean you haven't had one. its the difference between mind and soul. sometimes the connection between the two isnt as good as it is in other people, similar to eye hand coordination.. some people are amazingly agile, others fall over their own feet.
i believe that by living a new life every so many years, your soul is attempting to learn as much as possible to it can transcend to the next level. it takes time, however, and the majority of people are impatient..so maybe in their next lifetime, they'll learn patience as well.
that's my belief anyways.
Birth/Creation-Death/Destruction-Rebirth/Recreation
A simple concept.
I believe in reincarnation. I believe I've lived many lives. But i make no claims to know everything about them. Perhaps some things. Maybe other people are reincarnated too. Who knows.
Here is a question BelleIsra and I were discussing while at the book store tonight. "What is the difference between reincarnation and past lives?" and how are they simular?
I believe it's this:
Reincarnation=Rebirth of the soul in another body.
Past lifes, the lifes you had in the past.
The are similar cause they connect.
I think we have thrashed this subject 'til its dead.. so time to lay it to rest. Thankyou all for your input :)
