Please to note: this is not a rant about stamps in general. They are a wonderful privelege for Premium Members, and should not and WILL not be banned.

Recently, I've been having troubles with my profile. I choose to keep mine to a bare minimum, accenting the poetry I posted and the words I use. I enjoy the way it looks, and spent much time on the alignment and the pictures. But it seems that every other day, someone will come visit my profile and leave a stamp behind. Now, I've nothing against stamps in general, but all of these stamps have contained large pictures, which stretch out my alignment and change the entire look of my profile. Stamps are not the problem here; people, I merely beg you to RESIZE! If your stamp stretches out the profiles that you seem to have enjoyed looking at, you ruin the experience for the next few people, until your picture is pushed out of the top three. It's like enjoying the beauty of a wildflower, and then walking on it as you leave. Please, think of the artist, and shrink down your banners, your photos, your house crests; we can still see them at a smaller size.

Yes, I recently resized mine, becase it was too large and throwing off the alignment of user's profiles. granted, I only use my stamp on whelps, so they don't have much to mess up. But, I think resizing a lot of the larger images might be better.

I have that same problem on MySpace.. people leaving enormous photos. I have changed my stamp to a smaller size however. I must take a look at your profile, I would love to see all the work you have done to it as you have said. :o)

I do use my stamp often because I find that after going threw a couple profiles I become uncreative. I do however read all profiles I visit but my stamp is just words I dont have a image because I dont want to throw the size of someones profile all off.

my mom has a stamp and chose to keep it small , so she wouldnt offend anyone with hers. I think its a good idea to keep them small and unoffensive.

i've got something like seventy comments on my profile and no more than two of them have been actually typed out, the rest are just stamps.


i agree that it can be annoying if you work the HTML of a page and then someone comes along and throws thier pebble into your pond and causes ripples...

i think that there should be size restrictions on stamps, just like there is on the pictures you can host on the profile.

i keep mine small enough so it doesnt strech out

Yup a maximum width of 500 pixels is what the center of our profiles uses, and it takes about 100-150 depending on the size of ur thumbnailed picture to the right. so pls people maximum width=350 beside ur picture sure does help out. :)

Yeah...I've had the same thing happen to me...I now message them and say nasty things to them...just kidding...I ask them politely to rethink the size of their stamps.

I say that I must agree. And to make note that even some profiles need some of their pictures resized (mine included-damn photobucket) and that it is a pain in the browser to try and load those large gawky things.

I have a stamp I made entirely myself. It's small and I think fairly tasteful. It makes me sad that I use it as often as I do, but when most profiles consist primarily of quiz results or a small amount of mistyped text I don't feel too guilty about using frequently. The really oversized one annoy me too, though when I was still a newb I had one briefly.

Maybe next time we see an oversized stamp like that, we can refer the owner to this forum post? Most people don't even think of the trouble it can cause.

i totally agree on this it is very irritating to try and view a page only to have it stretched out of all proportion but one stamp. also really huge fonts, there was one person for a while who used a huge font and a really long message that drove me nuts

I do not have a stamp...but do not mind receiving one in my rating. I'm just glad someone is rating me! It would be nice to have several of the stamps resized smaller though.

i don't have a problem with stamp, i like them even if i don't use one, but you right some of them are way big

I have one advice - reduce your stamps to mere text. I mean, what's the purpose of having graphics, really? Other than to showcast your House/Coven (which is a'okay).

Makes life easier for all of us.

i think for the future i will send people to this forum should they have an issue with the size of their stamp.. lol

oh I understand my stamp is all words too but yeah I can see where it gets annoying we work had on our profiles and it sucks to see them messed up.

When I had a stamp, it did have a picture. I found one that just worked so well with the text I had written that it just had to go. But my picture was small, and I spent time making it so. No one wants a giant photo. As usual, it's just a matter of consideration.

Thought I'd drag this out of deep freeze and let a few other people look at it. I swear, I really don't enjoy causing problems and being a bitch. I just really hate things that stretch out my site.

People will notice you without a BIG STAMP. Resize the dam thing. It is not a contest to see who will get the biggest stamp. It's annoying.

I like graphic stamps. They show personality. Just make them smaller.

I understand the stamps are a privilege for the premium members, and that's all well and good....but to me they are just impersonal. It means more to me to see the simple word's "cool profile" than the largest most elaborate stamp. The stamps bore me and it just seems to me that they are a poor substitute for actual human/vampiric feedback...which after all is what we all would like to receive.

I also believe stamps should not be large. If you have to scroll left, right, up, or down to see ANY of your stamp and picture/ date/ time you commented, make it smaller!

I also believe that a lot of people should resize the font they use on their profiles.... It gets annoying seeing 48-72 pt font sizes on profiles for every bit of it. A word or a few that size is alright, but the WHOLE profile!? that's just obnoxious!

my stamp is a good size I believe. It's also pretty simple. I like it ^.^.

I would agree that some of the stamps can get way outta hand. Perhaps they don't realize the effects they have on someone's profile? Or perhaps they just don't care. I for one have a small enough stamp to showcase my house and as simple enough graphic to show I cared enough to use it. I mean hey, I could hit & run with nothing at all as a comment.

Please size stamps responsibly. ;P

I'm fine with hit and runs. Better than a glittery banner any day.

I just block the person who left it temporarily until a few more comments bump them off my page. Out of sight, out of mind. :)

I can highly agree with lordves on this it is annoying and unexeptable now if u dont know how to rezsize use your photo thing on your pc its how i do all my sizing on my pics or ill have my friend do it for me it isnt that hard now when i go look at some profiles if the pages is to big to were i cant read i simply click the back button. i dont take the time to rate those profiles cause of the annoyance that occures to me... im very helpfull if anyone needs info on resizing im there too help.

I personally don't have a stamp, but if I ever do I’ll keep this in mind.

I use a stamp to show my house price, I do have a personalized msg for people to feel free to stop by and msg me anytime. I do this so they get a chance to get to know me a little better than what my profile can tell about me. I love to meet new people and make new friends. However i keep my stamp size to max of 400 pixels as the avatar takes up almost 100 pixels leaving the max of 500 pixels before stretching the page. I recently got a stamp that was so wide i couldnt see my own profile without scrolling over. I had to block the person so that people didnt have to scroll to view my site. This type of thing causes others to think u made a mistake and rate u low. So pls think about ur stamp and how would u like a low rating because someone stamped u with an oversized picture before u create ur stamps. Thx to all that read this thread and resize their stamps appropriately.

I have just recently made a stamp for rating people with, and I noticed that the size is much bigger than I wanted it to be. I have been rating many people just using the stamp. I need to resize mine as well.

let me add that "I" didn't make the stamp I take that back, I had a lot of help from ladydarkstar

master yendor made us a card.. and its just the right size :) i use that one

That was a good point to put out there for us newbies. If/when I make a stamp, I will make sure that it wont interfere with the work others have put into their pages.

I to have had that problem with ppl using stamps on my pro. I think it is nice that pm's can use them but yes take the advises and resize. It trully makes a difference. A lot of ppl take the time and work at there pro to keep them nice. I know once I become a PM a gain I will make sure I use a small stamp. Thanks for the advise.

I was all excited about this topic. I thought it was about head shrinkers.

There was a movie called Blood Dolls. It comes up on Sci Fi channel every now and then, and the charcters, some of them, or one of them has a shrunken head. My right eye shrinks things, so what ever is in the center of my right eye gets resized, smaller. I guess that is why they call shrinks shrinks. Oh well, I am sure this was out in left field, but left feild is still on the playing field and not in foul territory.

I can't offer HTML help, but I can say that I hate profiles that have ginormous pics and like 10 songs going at once.

i was told to resize my origianl stamp, so i changed it, but i agree huge, page streching stamps are anoying

You all have no idea how glad I am to see so many people taking this to heart. And princedraven, I do think your stamp is too big. The width of it is the major problem; for a mostly text profile, or one with no wide pictures, it stretches the page out of alignment. It's nice to look at, yes, but if you dropped by my profile with that I'd be more than a little miffed. If you want help changing it, I'd give you whatever aid I could.

willowstone as a premium member u get to set up personal stuff, a stamp basically an html code with picture or text in it that u can stamp other members with instead of just adding a personal comment. These people are putting pictures into their stamps that are so big it stretches ur page out.

As I was rating I seen someone use a HUGE stamp. It is so hard to even look at the person's profile because they have stretched it out. It should be clearly obvious that it is a pain in the ass and you can't see the profile. If I get stamped with a HUGE stamp that screws up my profile or the profile I am trying to rate, I am going and rating that person lower. This thread has been around long enought for people to see it and do something about it.

I like rating profiles. I HATE rating profiles that I can't seen in a window because someone has decided to make some huge ass stamp to let people know they were there.

Some people do not know how to resize their pictures - remember to be a little forgiving of newbies.

Thank you Sevenn. But I believe most of the problem lies in the fact that people are not aware of what their stamps are doing. If you see an oversized banner or picture, don't be afraid to tell them. Or just to direct them to this forum.

i do have a stamp i use that my coven master mad for me if it appears to big for you please let me know and i will try to make it smaler

I stopped stamping pm's and everyone
here on vr all together, i just leave comments or quotes when rating

accidently hit enter
cause if i was a pm i wouldnt want
to have to keep resizing my page every time someone left a huge stamp
when rating. nor would i like it, i am sure that it can get pretty annoying after awhile.

Hmm, well, it did seem a little big xSEABAx. It stretched out my page, but not all that badly. I'd say reduce it by about 15%, 20% if you're really worried, and it shouldn't be a problem. well I dunno, if I didn't like someone stamping my profiel I wouldn't admit it, then just to spite you they would take like the biggest thing off of sparkle tags and place it you know where. I think it would be on honor for someone to put something relevent on my profile, since I am always irrelevent, anything would improve it.

I think that if a stamp is small then use it..I have had that same problem on my other sites..Had to delete the comment to make things fit right.

I think everyone agree's, a smaller stamp is best for profiles. I think this thread has run it's course.

So remember kids.. Smaller stamps make for a happier profile rater ;)
