I heard about a common language that leader of the vampiric community and those affiliated with them that they use. I want to find out if this rumor is true or if it is false bu their is a Vampiric Language?

there is an alphabet in use...there was another thread on it some time ago...can't remember the title tho.....

A portions of the houses/clans/covens in the community have their own terminolody but even they don't consider it a language. If there were such a thing it would make the group who used it an elitiest, setting themselves above all others and in my opinion it would cause a huge rift throughout the community that is attempting to unite.

A vampire language would not be a good idea. for one if it take ages to learn and there are too many languages already. plus who could really understand it. none of the new people world if we spoke it on here.

I believe there was an acient Latin language, but not convinced it was vampiric only!!

The idea of a unique language used only by vampires intrigues me. The movie "Blade" made light of this as in the one scene, you can hear them talking in some ancient unknown language.

I presume it was used very much like the real-world morse-code was, to send messages to central command, during the late 1900s.

I wouldn't expect anyone here to learn it, let alone be able to speak it, however the study and discussion of it would be quite valuable to VR. :-)

I would have to agree. I think that if we are going to be a society then that means that we should learn our own language and that way only we would know what we were speaking about. I mean everyone else has there languages why can we not have ours. We are different just like the rest of the world but we are all over the world and that is what makes us special

I love the question -- everyone raises an insightful view -- according to my great gradfather (dont ask -- he may be senile) each clan had a variation of speech consisting of ancient languages as far back as Aramaic. Now while it was obviously not toal Aramaic, it was more like British cockney -- not to say they were rhyming, either. However the incorporation of Aramaic in conjunction with vernacular advancements thru the years even included Gaelic, Latin and primitive German (that of course was later since Germania came about after the fact...) I plan to do a little more research on this and post it. My pops isnt much of a spring chicken and his info comes and goes but is usually very accurate since he was into theoccult and speak over nine languages. He did mention that there are even African tribes that still have some of the ancient words i their speech although the meaning has changed loosely enough (for demons sake, etc).

Nice question. We as a "people" should organize ourselves beyond our dark personas and look further into our history since so much of it was destroyed out of fear.

I always thought that the language they spoke was either english or where ever they may be living they would adapt to that language. I'm not at all sure if they had their own language or not.

Until we are well-known and really, truly out there, there is no need for it-- Others Awaken almost daily (nightly? ha!) and have no need for it. Many of them are confused enough as it is.

Is there a language used by all Vampyres? I don't think so. I think that languages are probably geographically specific. Perhaps if there is a language there is also a "root" to the vampiric language. Like Latin is the root for many other languages.

LoRdDraYveN now why would you assume that I never met a vampire. Or that people that have responded to this and started this are a vampire. why would you asume that no one that responded to this is a vampire. Did you go to every single profile to see if you tell we were not vampire. I'll save one profile for you. I am a newly awakened Vampire that want to learn as much as possible. And yes i'll edmit it was kind of noobish or how ever you spell it but if thier was one that would be helpful to know. Sorry if this effence you but i felt i had to adress it.

While this elorathian tongue intriduges me, I believe fundamentally that a uniform vampiric language is in many ways impossible. What it seems to me is that such claims are attempting to unearth a language of some form or another that can identify with the source of vampirisim and subsequently claim itself as the language of vampires. I agree with the idea that such a language would be region specific. Drawing on languages used long ago to keep old traditons and knowledge is one thing, but trying to join language and genetics is a bit of a stretch.

I too would like to see a language in use, but for vampires that are in a coven already. That way the newly awakened ones will still be able to communicate with everyone. Like the language is used mainly for business purposes or something.

I have always wanted to speak another language... i wonder how much there is to it. Using it on here would weed out those who really do not care about Vampire's, the one's who are here because they are bored... but i agree it would beconfusing for beginners.

I see your piont. Being a vampire is confusing enough. but think about it atleast with this language we would have one more of the few things that ciuld unite us.

Anyway I looked up Vampire (and boy are there alot of different variations of the words manifestation -- cover up??)

While I am still working o reasearch, I thought the geographical positining only lent a level of credence to what I was sayig before -- a single language, perhaps at one point but no different than when the earth's crust shifted and divided the world into cotinents; each of which developed a a variation on their basic traits. Why not true for language?
Latin, german, English, etc have commonalities. While I can't speak for Asia in terms of tongue, i can refer to their dynasty of technology and communication in their own right. So why not? Could it been a matter of "one ring to rule them all" or a case of natural evolution? We are as succeptable to evolution as any creature --think otherwise and your superiority blinds you.

I am not sure if there is one language that is used.If I had to guess there would probably be a few different languages that were very close in form used in different areas of the world. I am still sure that most vampires have enough time to learn one that one language. But as I said this is just a guess.

Yes please let’s keep moving this thread along, especially since there are people here wanting a good discussion regarding the idea of either implementing or creating a vampire language. LoRdDraYveN there is no need to postulate your position in the community, but if you are going to post and give references, please make sure that they are relevant to the discussion.

Personally, this goes well beyond my experiences since I am not and have never proclaimed to be a vampire. However with that said the idea of having a common language to both help as identifying people in the community or as a way of keeping communications secret is intriguing.

The vampiric community does teach a common language depending on where you are at and what part of the community you are in.

If there is such a beast as the vampiric language, than I would be happy to learn it. If not, well, it could be something that the vampire community as a whole could work on. I mean, let's face it, the world revolves around speaking your on tongue (spanish being the biggest one it seems). Why shouldn't we have something to call our own? Yes, it may be difficult at first, agreeing on words, and all that...but once finished, wouldn't it be worth the time and effort?

Vampiric Language
There is a Vampiric Language, I have some of it and it is sacrad it shouldnt be exposed that is against the vampire clan,

I've never heard anything about a vamperic language and I have read alot about vampires, but I believe that they had some kind of different dialect that no one know about. Of course it could just be Latin or tweeked english.

I've never heard of a Vampiric language. However in books I've read they often speak dead languages. No one else speaks the language so they adopt it as their own.

Well it would seem to me, (IE. MY OPPINION) that IF there are any TRUE Vampire's, that they are likely all over the world ... the world being comprised of many different big and little countries most all with their own language or differing dialect of a main language ... so it is of MY mind that the "Vampire Language" one seeks would be their own language of choice ....

Well, while I agree that it is quite elitist and a fair bit of Bull Shit, my old house, (my Lord gave me his blessing to leave and start my own house due to a difference in ideals and political view, though we remain best of friends and great alies) we had a language that was the only toung spoken in our rites and house meetings. It is quite exstensive and some of our alied houses have likened it to Tolkins Kenyan (the language of the elves) in both sound and structure. We do not how ever have a language that goes directly with in, only a "re-vamped" (excuse the pun) hyroglyphic system.

I believe that the vampires do use the ancient language of latin, like some of us that imbue our sacred rituals when we perform our rites and powerful healing and protections, such as this: Fulgura frango, dissipo ventos "Lightning and thunder, I break asunder."

an ancient tongue, extinct to archeologists, was handed down through my family. vampyrism is genetic in my family, it skips every other generation. and yet, my grandfather is a vampyre, and he knows the language well, but he will teach it to me not, because he thinks that i should ignore this gift, like he has.
i only know a few words, and that is what he has said and what i have found on the internet that archeologists know of, it is about 13-14 words.

I suppose someone could make one up, but it would be a bit like speaking elvish or vulcan. Not particularly practical.

there r stories told that when people are demon posessed they speak arymaic.that's the language jesus spoke to his diciples.but a vampyric language would be so fuckin' awesome.then i wouldn't have to worry about explaining to people about why i said i want to drink blood out loud to my fellow vamps ; - ))

I agree with you Toria maybe we do need to develop some kind of language to weed out the poepl who are here souly out of bordom. For the most part though I think vampyre langauges coudl have exsisted just like in any other society and culture. However I beleive like everyone else they spoke the tongue of their country maybe with different diolects though just as everyone else they adapted and do adapt to their surroundings.

I could see practical uses for a language. I think it would also promote a sense of unity as well. though I admit I cant see it used often enough either.

I would have to agree with allgenre. The knowing of a singular language, even if it merely were a written one, would bring a sense of unity to any of our kind. It would allow those of any language to communicate without much more then a key code to translate. But again, as allgenre pointed out would be the use of it.

If by chance anyone comes across any written languages online here, be them runic or other, might you please message me and toss me a like up. I have at current some 70 or so languages floating around here in my research papers, but I am always looking to collect more.

vampires do tend to talk in like a shakespeare fashion. dont ya think? i am sure that there was an actual language but nowadays the streotypical term is to use old english. i ma sure that there was kore to it than just mere old english tho. right?

Giant robots were the policemen of the universe.
