After my grandpa and grandma passed away, we moved into their home. I'm not sure when it started but my sister and I started experiencing things. At night I would hear my closet door open and close, my sister and I would hear what sounded like coins being dropped on the floor. Friends that didn't know what we experienced refused to go upstairs (where our bedrooms were). They said they had an uneasy feeling. We would also see the occassional dark shadow. Then things stopped.

When I was about 20 I moved back home. My mom was staying w/ her boyfriend most nights so I was the only one home. Shortly after I moved back home, I started hearing footsteps in the living room. After a few nights of this, I started sleeping in another room and the sounds stopped. A few friends came out one night and suddenly the girl wanted to leave. She later told me that she felt someone staring at her, when she looked in that direction, she seen a man staring back at her from one of the photos hanging on the wall.

I got married and never had any experiences when I stayed at my mom's then. Then recently my husband and I seperated and I moved home once again for about 3 months. No experiences at this time. I moved out again. Then this past weekend, my son and I spent the night at my mom's. I was awakened many times during the night from hearing footsteps walking past my bed. I became quite frightened and was afraid to move. I kept telling myself I had been dreaming. Then whatever it was touched me and breathed into my ear. I screamed for my mom. She came in, turned on the light, I grabbed my son and got out of there.

What would cause an infrequent haunting such as this?

What would cause it? Man, that depends on who you ask. I don't trust anybody but myself when it comes to stuff like that.

Hmm. I don't know a whole lot about haunting, as no one really does, but I believe that someone who must have had some unfinished business or an uncontrolled desire to stay with loved ones would be a reason why a spirit would continue to wander... At least that is why I would haunt.

You said it/he/she whispered something in your ear. What was it, it you heard? Perhaps it's wish is to tell you something before it leaves.

Oh, yes. That I agree with as well. I do not believe it is a cause for concern. I doubt that if it was them, that you would be harmed in any way. In fact, I don't think anyone really gets attack in any hauntings (not like in fictional references).

The infrequency could be due to how open you are to the idea or how fragile you were at the time.
There could have been times when you were too deep insleep to notice a presence in the room, or your head could have been too full of personal thoughts or problems to notice.

Some people believe certain emotional states allow you to experience the paranormal, for example if you feel alone, or confused. At this point you are emotionally weak and things you normally block out can almost "break through a boundery" for example acknowledging the paranormal.

I would have to agree. Either the spirit was trying to tell you something or they were trying to watch over you. Unless you were hurt or grabbed I wouldn`t worry.

well I know I'm not staying at my mom's for awhile! LOL I don't know what I will do, just still trying to get over the shock of it, and make a judgement call.

What you could do is look into the history of the house, or the land the house resides on..
Then have a blessing by your church on the house...

I totally understand that... normally my daughter is home and I feel her in the house even after she's in bed but while she is away like this week end and no one else is here I'm hearing more things like foot stepsa and stuff moving I leave the tv on so I don't get to paranoid

Me Personaly have dealt with ahuntings of my own.
In fact I grew up most of my life living in a hunted house..well I wouldn't say haunted...much rather then lived in by more then one family.

At first it is a bit scary, its a given..however for me, I welcomed it. the footsteps in the room, odd sounds in the night..and the shadows lurking..but what got me is the feeling of being watched..my mom said that when you get that feeling you should smile. Because for all you know its your guardian watching after you.
Soon after that...I payed it all no mind.

lol I sort of agree with the witchcraft thing maybe even get in touch with psychics and necromancers. The reason I didn't mention it before was that it could take a consideral amount of money and I didn't want to give any advise that may do any harm later...

It sounds like your grandparents. Do you know if your grandparents ever had these experiences? Or do you know the past of this house?

I disagree with getting into witchcraft to understand what is happening with you. Just my opinion, but if you are a religious person, try the house blessing mentioned above. It sounds like your grandparents, and they mean you no harm. Could be their way of letting you know they are okay. I am not trying to push christian beliefs on you, only if that is what you practice. I am saying, trust what you know, don't change your faith; there is no need.

Listen to Sleen and Gehenna... I've had similiar happenings.....be optimistic and open about it. When you feel comfortable, go back and see if it comes to you again. Ask it what it is wanting with you... be well.

Personally I wouldnt be alarmed really as the spirit has not done anything...nefarious if you will. There are a lot of good suggestions posted already here so I will just simply say get to know the spirit when you feel comfortable.

Unless someone is injured, I wouldn't let it get to you. Perhaps try to contact. Hope it turns out well for you.

I myself have lived in a house with a presence that was unnerving with trying to shower and feeling something watching you like it was stare'n a hole thru you...... It even jumped in us all at one point or another cause'n big nock down drag out fights and waking up the next morning with muddy boot footprints on the ceiling and stuff so I really don't think it is nothing to worry about if it's not truing to harm you........

I don't think you should be alarmed i also believe it is your grandparents just trying to let you know they are watching over you

I have had many experiences w/ spirits...I attract them like a bee to honey. Although I've been freaked out by MANY of my encounters, I've never been hurt. I wouldn't worry too much, but I would keep an eye/ear open when at that house. Should they want to speak with you, that is.

sounds like perhaps a residential haunting, one that stays at the house. in some cases the house is laid down on stone... certain stones tend to trap energy more than other... limestone for instance is a good conductor.

it's possible your grandparents knew about this, and were'nt worried.. and with good reason. residential hauntings are not intelligent. their more like three D movies, recorded energies from the past. or perhaps it's a recording of your own grandparents.

basicly i wouldn't worry about it. it doesn't seem to be causing any harm except sounds, and perhaps a lack of sleep.

I used to be scared. i had a similar incident. I had a good friend say to me, just listen. Maybe they wanted to tell you something they didn't get to say to you before they died. After not being scared and saying to it that if you want to speak or show me something, I'm listening. In my dreams and awake..

If you suspect this 'haunting to be your grandparent, then you should not be too worried. Why would someone kind and loving towards you behave differently towards you just because they are dead?

I wouldnt get to rieled up about it. It probably just your gran and granda making sure that you all dont forget about them, or maybe they (if it was/is in their personalities) want to just play a joke and spook you alittle. As a ghost hunter, I wouldnt worrie to much.

I believe that the time in which such things occur has to do with your current state of mind. During certain phases of your life, as we all know, our senses are more keen, and our mind can tend to trick us.

I dont think it is anything to be too terribly concerned about. I would have to say from what you said that it was probably either you grandparents watching over you. or a poltergiest playing games for fun. either way i doubt your in harm.

Most people would say this is caused by, ghosts that are bad.
Like shadows.
Maybe its just your grandmother and Grahdfather wanting to let you know they are still there. And that they don't want you scared to be alone.

From the story you have told us, I would say that this is due to emotional vulnerability.

Times when your life has been iuneasy, you have been unsure of yourself; you have been, like a spirit, in a place of transition.

I do not know a lot about hauntings, but this seems quite an obvious conclusion to make.

I would consider keeping a diary of events, and attempting to make links to your mental state, when you are most receptive.

I would NOT view this as a totally negative experience, which is why I urge you to research into this, and yourself.

I Get the "im being watched" feeling all the time. It is quite possibly my immagination. But as for the footsteps and the whisper..... well im glad im not you because i might have had to change my pants!

I wanna move in. I dont think its anything to worry about as far as spirits harming you. If you feel that it is unbarable do a clensing and make the spirits leave.

It is just your grandparents watching over you. Feel good that they are there. Once you embrace that feeling, comfort will overcome and they will see your ok and not need to keep watch over you. You will feel comfort and happy maybe even shed a tear of happiness knowing they are so close to you, so no need to worry.

most experiances of this nature are rarely violent. so unless it really bothers you with the noises i know youll be fine. Try telling them that , it is your house now , they are dead and need to go into the light.

sometimes a person or people will come back to a place which in life was known to them ie a house or a area

if you b really want to knjow the cause of it then I recommend you go back and ask, the answer is there

I believe that you are being watched over... feel safe

Sporatic hauntings could be anything from the spirit is simply a watcher and only comes around when needed, or it could be a poltergeist that someone, perhaps even you yourself, is beinging into the house with you. Document whom the hauntings effects the most, who sees or senses things more often and that should narrow that much down. Is the spirit melevolent?

if this presence doesn't make you, or other people, feel at ease, then chances are low that they are your grandparents. but perhaps the death of them "woke up" a previous spirit that had been lying dormant up until now.

perhaps instead of screaming about it you should see what he or she or both of them want obvously they are there for a reason. And if the reason was to cause you harm then it would have happened long ago. As others have said they may have un finished business and need your help or they are there because you may need help. Deffinatly no need to avoid them and run away screaming.

I would have to agree that it is probably just your grandparents watching over you. unless there has been any sort of overt threat or harm, I would not worry about it. the only thing that does not fit that theory would be when you heard it when you first moved back home. (granted you just may have not mentioned the reason it would happen) I would also suggest asking your son if he has seen or heard anything, children are usually a more open to this sort of thing and may some times have an insight that you or I may have dismissed offhand

honestly I dont know.... I think that there is more to the story.... You have a ghost that is targeting a specific group of people... I dont understand it and I would have to take a closer look at the circumstances to understand what is going on there..

Never certain but I'm sure it is your grandparents. You need to peacefully find a way for them to go where they need. I'm sure as stubborn as most grandparents can be they just don't want to leave, It was their house when they were alive and it continues to be their house.

a bad experience happend there maybe, and the house is reliving it over and over again at certain times. just an idea

People often have uneasy feelings about the unknown.

I would think this isn't a haunting, but more spirits lingering. I don't think it's as common to be haunted as just witnessing them trying to be heard.

i dont know a lot about haunted places as i never was at one.. i never felt the appearance of a spirit or ghost like you told me... but i met a spirit twice... so i know how it feels...
i can tell you that if it wanted to be harmful it would have been and the only thing it can harm is your mind... nothing else.. it can make you go insane yes but it can harm your body... thats what i found out about it...

I am not a professional, so please understand my comment is purely my own, and does not represent anyone but myself:

I would learn to live with the noises and other events which I couldn't explain away. I would try and talk to them calmly, as I believe it could be someone you knew that is watching over you. Perhaps even, ask them why they are there and let them know it is not their house anymore, they have no use for it and should move on to rest.

That's just my opinion tho.

I will say that i have had the same instances that you are having. However It wasnt my grandparents. I had a feeling that it was the lady whom lived in the house prior to my parents moving in. Though i did believe that this spirit was there as a caring and nuturing one to look over me. She had children as well before she passed and i believe she was just looking out for me when i needed to be. I wouldnt be too concerned by any of this unless negative things start to happen.

Frequent hautings are most likely to appear if you in some way has a strong connection to the spirit. It does not have to be a family matter, there can be a number of reasons. If spirits sense that you can sense them they will try to contact you, or as someone else said, watch over you.

It is nothing to worry about, if they were looking for trouble the would have harmed you from the begining which is not the case.

So just relax and live with it, it wil get easier in time.

I don't think you have any cause for concern. I wonder however, what material is the house built of? Other than that simple question I would tell you that you have been given a great deal of good advice already. Perhaps it is just one of your grandparents, I had a grandmother who watched over me after she passed. I have seen her distinctly in the room of my old house several times. Don't be alarmed, since nothing 'bad' has happened I'm sure everything is fine.

I dont think it's a cause for concern. From what you've described the ghosts don't seem like violent or disturbed entities. Most ghost or spirits that people encounter are whimsical in nature and are only wandering around; lost. It should be a cause for concern when or if you feel a change in the energy such as malevolence etc.

yes, if everything you are saying is 100% true and it isnt just in your head, then your mom's place is definetly haunted, but it could be halusinations or whatever. i major in things like this.

Like Nihonin, Sylvia Browne seems to be a big time person on ghost and hauntings. She says just tell them to go home!

So this all happens at your moms house? Does she ever experience any of these hauntings, because from the stories you told, it seems like all the stuff mainly happens when you're at the house
so unless that's not true, and your mom does experience it
maybe the spirit feels some kind of connection to you, and kind of..."awakens" in a way whenever your at the house
because you said your friends came to visit, but you were there, so the spirit would be active
