i was watching a tv show the other night called ghost whisper and started to wonder about it. can people really talk to the dead? houdini exposed dozens of people in his time who said they talked to the dead. phycics are alleged to talk to dead people but haven't heard of anyone really getting through to them. can it be real, or just a scam like they say it is?

Most spiritual mediums use vagueness as their guide, and not the spirits themselves. You would be amazed how educated most of them are. It is common for them to research areas for common diseases, accidents the area is prone to (Car, boat, et cetera), and population percentages (Male to female). If a town has a higher percentage of woman, it is easy for them to tell someone that they had a sister that died. And, if that area is known for it's high number of car accidents, they can say that sister died in a car crash.

99.999% of the people that say they can speak with the dead have not done the work required or the know how to truly accomplish the goal.

That being said, yes in fact it is possible to speak to the dead. If one is mature enough and has done the requisite work and has the proper information.

i do belive that a person can talk to people who have passed on... it is a unique gift...

Yes they can but a little different than the TV show. There are so many ways to communicate with them, and they us. A good book to read and study on that is Never Say Goodbye written by Patrick Mathews. He tells of his encounters and teaches you how to develop the ability to communicate with the other side.

I do believe that the dead communicate with us. So therefore there must be people out there who communicate back to them.. although I don't think it's like The 6'th Sense. I also don't think that it's a common gift...'cause a lot of us would be getting locked up in little white rooms. But there are a lot of fakes out there...like that guy on tv. who claims to talk to the lost loved ones of his audience members. I think it's a complete hoax.

I definately believe that it is possible to speak with the dead, personally these programmes like ''Most Haunted'' etc piss me off & I cant believe people actually watch it.

I have read up on a lot of powerful psychics, but the best one yet I read about was Madam Blavatsky. She was dismissed by everyone. However, there is plenty of other evidence of her abilities that were not easy to dismiss. She could speak to the dead etc, & also her explainations of world history at that point (1831) were impossible to know...They didnt have the technology for such things that she explained and were 99% accurate. She was interesting to read about :P

Jean Dixon is good to read up on too. She was a psychic, Clairvoyant & astrologer. Who made a large number of predictions with varying degrees of accuracy. One prophecy about which she was entirely correct was her foretelling in 1956, the assassination of President Kennedy, 7 years before it happened. I do believe she said that a ghost told her this loool

I believe it is possible for some people to talk to spirits. It's just a gift I suppose.

the if it really can be done, why do you not see more about it in the papers and news? besides the "RAG" magazines, when do you read of ppl actually doing it?

Well personally, I speak to the dead, it gets on my nerves cause they enter my dreams and do it that way, or they turn up when i'm meditating when my guards are down, i've really gotta build my circle stronger... and against ghosts/the dead

one thing to remember about this subject is
when a person dies the length of time that they are in the astral plane is dependant upon their level of development ...
therefore it would be highly unlikely to communicate with someone that has died centuries ago unless they are fully developed and have not given up their individuality

actually cremation is good for a couple of reasons
not that it would make one bit of difference to you after death but there are other reasons

you also need to know something else about this subject ....

when the second death occurs on the astral plan and what you recognize as you dies the astral corpse is left lying there on the astral plane ....
sometimes negative astral beings inhabit said corpse and play trix on the living by pretending to be that person when in fact that person is already moved on into the mental plane (spirit) and awaiting reincarnation
the amount of time that a person spends on the astral plane in their astral bodies depends on their development the more developed you are the longer you stay in the astral plane and in your astral body

I think that it is sometimes possible to see the ghosts of someone close to us. I think there has to be a connection before they appear. I am unsure that there can actually be communication as we understand it though.

I agree with Emma...I believe everyone has the potential to communicate with the dead. I don't think it would be in terms of communication as we do in our living status...ie...I don't think my dead grandma would meet me at Starbucks for a latte..

I also think that most folks would not have the knowledge to know how to "tap in"....and even if naturally gifted in that area (as I think that is a great possibility), may not recognize it as such.

At any rate, I would love the opportunity to be granted that talent...I would love to talk to Elvis!

I do believe in ghosts & such but I'm in two minds, I think if I saw anything unusual like that, that I would completely dismiss it & look for the logical side :|

I believe communication is able to happen. What is protrayed in movies, and T.V. shows I believe is a lot of someones "ideas" of what is going on. In true life an experience of communication isn't so fabulous and colorful.

From my understanding, a spirit will access connection with the living through dreams or actions that can't be explain. There are people out there who can authentically speak with spirits. These people have been given the gifts to do so.

Others, unfortunately, mimic and lie saying they have these gifts in order to use this as a way to decieve people in order to make way for their own personal gain.

It's way easier to see ghosts that speak to them, but I totally think it's possible.

i have seen a ghost that inhabits my house i know of atleast 1 me and my mother have both saw it. but my attempts at communicating with it and trying to bring it into light when i want it to show up have not worked. as this spirit is a relative from about 50 years ago, but i keep trying to communicate with it and all my attempts have be unsatisfactory

I have spoken with the dead several times, many of those times I had 1 or more others there to verify.
However many who say they can talk to the dead or give you a message from your great aunt peaches who died last month more than likely can't.
This perticular gift of communication is not as rare as one might think but the area is filled with fakes.

The TV show that you mentioned is done by James VanPraagh. My sister and I did a workshop with him a couple of years ago. She talks and listens to spirit for years! James is a great and fun guy. Don't belive all the stories about him. Yes, he's for real. There is also a pic of him and me in my portfolio.

i have heard that when we see ghosts, that they do not see us, but see through us to whatever they are looking for. we can see them but not really talk to them because they are not aware of our presents.

i've seen ghosts, i've heard the odd word or laughter, picked up feelings, but i've never been able to have a meanignful conversation. i would like to, because it would answer the question that is so big in my mind. are they sentient and aware, or merely echoes of the past?

Yes, it is possible to communicate with the deceased. Some people use the Ouija Board; now, before anyone bites my head off and calls it a hoax, it's not. A friend of mine once had an experience where she and a group of friends were using a Ouija board. They got freaked out, and all took their hands off the veiwfinder thing; which kept moving of its own accord.

I have had experiences where I was visited by my grandmother but no words were exchanged. I do believe it is possible to speak with the past on.

There was a show about someone who talked to dead people witch name i do not recall, it was Jonh something.He did not actualy talked to them but they showed him images of what they meanted to say, he would interpret it to the family or friends and he was actuly very precise.I think i believe it because there is something and sometimes they do try to conect with us, maebe for unfinished business i dont know...

I also saw the tv show with that john guy, and i was laughing the whole time. it really was hokey. Maybe the show would of worked if they tried to contact dead actors since they were always around the cameras. Seeing and talking to ghosts, still cant see it has ever happened. well, at least not to me or anyone i know.

There are so many I feel that if they have true gift, which is how I choose to see it, that have exploited.

Hence, most of them, you see written up in Tabloids.

I have felt the presence of something, many times now. I choose to believe, that it is there to protect me, and not to harm me.

I believe that there are alot of true ones out there,that can talk to the spirits it is either a blessing or it is a curse I would think that it would be very intrusive for one with this ability, yet i cannot so who am I to say.

I do not claim to talk to the dead but I can hear them. In places such as hospitals, nursing homes, physchiatric hospitals and other places where people have actually passed are very difficult for me. The dead do not talk to me and I make no claims that I can connect people with their loved ones who have passed. When I am in such places I simply hear those how have died there before. Buildings seem to retain some type of memory and it reminds me of the cliche "if these walls could talk" I often avoid being in these types of places because it is emotionally draining to hear so much at once and be unable to really express what is happening. When I try and explain this "gift" I have I am often met w/ disbelief or general indifference. The only thing I know is that my grandmother and great grandmother apparently had the same ability.

it is a very rare gift to talk to the dead / past-on
and if they say things that have some significant meanings to you, then you know that they are real

yes its possible. But I do have to agree alot of those that calaim to be able to can not. But I do know of a few people that have been able to prove it to me. So there are a few out there.

I belive you can communicate with the dead, but unfortunately fauxs and retarded tv shows makes a mockery out of it, making it unbelivable.

Ghost whispering is an okay term I guess because it does require certain skills, but if people would relax and try to really listen carefully, maybe everyone can be a ghost whisper in some way.

I think its possible to talk to spirits. I have a gaurdian who watches over me and my kids, she's my great-grandmother. I talk to her sometimes and I swear I can hear her soothing voice talk back, she died about 50 yrs before I was born so I've never heard her voice for real. I look like her too apparantly, maybe she was there to witness my birth and thought 'Goodness! She looks like me!' and stuck around??? lol

It could be just a scam. I think it is anyways. I doubt spirits would just randomly choose sum guy to talk to his family through.

I have often seen my elders talk to spirits. Especially one in particular. So I know that it ccan be done.

as far as the the ones on TV, I do not know if they are real or not, if so I think they are exploiting whatever gift they were given.

I talk to the dead. Ever since I was a very young child they have always talked to me. Not something I enjoyed either, quite freaky as a kid. Now I work with them and enjoy the chats. I have met some psychics that can talk to them quite affectively, and I have met some psychics that I could swear have pink candy floss stuffed in their brain.

talk to the dead? highly unlikely.When you leave this plane of existance you may leave behind some residual forms of energy that people may be able to detect but if you are actually having a conversation with something unseen,it's probably not a ghost but something much more sinister in nature.stay clear!

The ego/personality stays behind not the soul. As far as speaking with something more sinister.... some of us are experienced enough to tell the difference, and talk to them as well LOL

I think there can be communication with people passed...maybe not all the ones you see on TV...I use to watch John Edwards and it really made me wonder...He actually did readings for celebrities one of which was ANNE RICE...and stuff was brought up that was edited out because she did not want the world to know watching on tv...

Absolutely possible! But, like other discerning customers have told you in this forum, don't believe the vast majority of people saying that they can speak to the dead b/c they are lying. my sister and i used to talk to our great aunt all the time when we were kids. at the time we didnt know that she was dead.

well i have done some spirituasl meditaions and walks and i have exsoerianced many htings that most would call unexplanable or a hoax. but it doesnt matter what other think. as long as you are succure with what you have seen or done thats all that metters. theres always going to be people who disbelieve but tis the people who believe that keep it alive.

Yes I believe you can speak to the dead.Depending on what one believes,you may find there are many ways to do so....Sad to say only a very few work.Remember that you also may "invite" other things in trying to do so..Some things that may even mock the one you are trying to talk to.

Ghosts can communicate with people - I think that is the important thing.

I don't think they would talk as such - if it is a sound for our ears to pick up, it would be a vibration in air that anyone nearby could hear.

I think that they would communicate in some other way - maybe telepathically (sp?) - so that only those people who are trained/gifted/cursed can receive.

i think that some of them can speak with the dead. i for one can. but i know that there are others that cannot, and say that they do. reason being i dont like this house i live in. they talk to me and when i try to ignore them, they tend to get violent.

For many years my dreams have come true. none of you know me so you couldnt know the stories i have told few but they come true alot. and sometimes it feel like im not alone and somethings trying to talk to me. then i do my tarot and everything changes. stuff like this is possble if it wasnt no one would have spread the stories. you can always tell a faker from a natural. the fakers brag and talk abotu the exsperiances they have had. but when you really see the dead and have them interupt your everyday living all the time. you change. the fakes want you to know they have a "special (meaning made up)" gift. in turn they dont. if you think you have a gift learn to control it before it controls you. believe me you dont want to be woken up by a scream in your head everynight. and the headaches those never get any easier.

I am not 100% sure. I guess you can never be, because the people who say they can talk to the dead cannot be proven.. I guess if one day I hear a dead person talking to me I'll change my mind but for now I am sceptical.

Hearing voices, seeing things move on their own...these things don't make you want to go on television. They make you want to hide from the world.

First off anything is possible. Speaking to spirits like having a normal conversatons sitting at a table having tea with them is far fetched, but any true psychic will tell u that they can communicate with the dead. The way that i have communicated with the dead was with my senses, feeling entities or presence within an area and i would either speak aloud to them and offer them guidance and could feel a overwhelming sence of peace or anger, depending what type of spirit or entity it was. I could then learn from their feelings what they were thinking as i have done with many other people. its learning and interpreting the feelings that u get from these beings as it is not always clear words that u hear. Each persons brain interprets what they get from these spirits or entities in a different manner. Yes there are people who have fooled others by studying up on their family or region, and given people with true psychic abilities a bad name, but its up to u to believe in what u believe.

There is an aspect that all supernatural gifts are nothing more than our own human abilities that some of us tap into more naturally than others.

I am surprised that more people have not posted about the obvious connection of speaking with the spirits of those that we have had strong bonds to. These are by far the most frequent, and often are put off as just being a “very realistic dream”. While we have no way of explaining or measuring these abilities, it does not mean that people do not have the capability.

I've seen one too many episodes of "Crossing Over" to take most people who claim to communicate with the dead seriously. There are other, more efficient methods of finding information on somebody simply by reading cellular residue they leave behind.

I'm not really sure myself i've seen way to many people claim something and then not be able to deliver so i don't really think that too many people can but i do think they are out there

I believe there are many out there that have the gift and even many other gifts yet do to our Society I feel few advertise this due to non-believers and critism from the puplic as a whole...

Not to mention that, I am sure, that to be open with your gifts is opening yourself opening yourself up for ridicule.

Yes, some people can talk to ghosts. They are know as shadow mancers, but they can only talk to them. where as if you find a rare necro mancer they can talk, and touch the dead.

Ive never spoke to a ghost but have seen them would love to see more or actual footage of people doing it and it prooven so!

I believe that it is possible to talk to those who have passed. because i believe that the soul lives on and eventually goes to a new body. Therefor i think that there are some people that are connected with the other planes that the souls are on and can speak with them.

i agree with loner girl she had a good teacher... it is possible but one thing people need to realize is that it is a gift that i few and far inbetween then again i can also be aquired the deep meditation and high sprituality.

Yes it is possible to speak with spirits... There are always going to be those who fake it and there are those who know its true....

Obviously there are fakes out there, but, while I've never had a spirit talk to me, I've seen many of them on numerous occasions. The conditions just have to be right.

i have seen a few at night when i lived in cleveland, ohio but i have not talked to any of them
