Can someone please shed some light as to what a true vampyre is far from the hollywood rants and if there are more than just one type and what are they? Thanks very much

yes there is more than one type.. there is no true meaning.. the meaning has to belong to you and you alone.. no one else can telly ou what it means to you..cause many people feel different ways

"True meaning of Vampyre"? A loaded question indeed.

As already mentioned, there are several different types of vampires in existence today. The classic definition of vampire no longer truly holds sway. Hollywood would call us all bloodsucking predators who prey upon the weak by night and suck them dry to retain our own vitality, though we are dead.

And now for my personal definition... it's quite lengthy and my profile explains it a little better. Essentiallly "vampire" means one who takes the vital energy of others for the purpose of replenishing their own lack of.

To me, ((and I speak only for myself and no others)) the vampire is a spiritual condition of sorts. It is the state of the energy body that lacks the ability to generate its own vitality that fuels the energy centers (chakras) and in turn the physical self as well. Lack of vitality hits the spirit body first, and in turn will begin to affect the physical body.

There are two main types of vampires that are accepted by most people, sanguine and psychic. Sanguine vampires must consume blood in order to gain energy. The blood serves as a medium for the energy. A psychic vampire does not need blood as a medium and instead can take energy from a person in its pure form. There is another sub group that is not generally accepted but I think it should be. The sub group would be the sang/psy vampire. This is a vampire who gets energy using both ways. They tend to be more dependent on blood but they unintentionally pick up energy from people as well. No one way is enough to sustain the person. I hope this helps.

ok... what kind of energy can be harnassed by these sang/psy vampyers? and is it vampyres or vampires? whats the difference?

Some people spell it both ways. It's like spelling theater or theatre. They get the same type of energy as the sangs and the psychics. The only difference is that the sang/psy needs a medium as their primary way of feeding and they get it pure as a backup.

in my mind a vampyre is some one who hates the light of day butt welcomes the darkness of the night

According to Websters Dictionary a vampire is

Etymology: French, from German Vampir, from Serbian vampir
1 : the reanimated body of a dead person believed to come from the grave at night and suck the blood of persons asleep
2 a : one who lives by preying on others b : a woman who exploits and ruins her lover

Vampyre has no different meaning and actually is not considered a word in the Websters Dictionary.

I still think that the term has many definitions personally, and there are many forms of it. A leech is considered vampiric. I guess my definition would be.... anything that feeds off of a human no matter whether they drink blood, or take energy.

There are 2 types a blood drinker and a phys or energy seeking vamp.

all I know about is what i am a sang,I like the energy that comes from the blood over the phy energy.

a vampire is someone who feeds off somebody else theres so many types you have some that feed off blood, energy, emotions, etc etc. some hate light some can stand it and some love it.

hmmm ok so really its all personal experience and preference mainly... but also some havent really got the choice... hmm well i'll read that book on the undead... sounds all too interesting.

i believe a vampire is basically a parasite need ing to feed from another being in order to sustain it's own life, either through blood or energy. Yes i do think they exisit but still my opinon is that they are just a parasite

Vampyre vs vampire... it can be spelled either way. Those who are vampires might choose "vampyre" to distinguish from Hollywood vampires, or Gods forbid, the "vampires of old" tradition slavic wherever it was.

Do we sustain ourselves by feeding off of others, yes. Are we leeches? In the basest sense, probably so. You might also grab a looksee at a few of the profiles on this site.

The meaning is deeply personal. After all, what is it to be Human? A good question raised is what is a Vampire hungry for/ how does it feed. Depending on your own answer and a little researching you will come to your own conclusions.

To be as basic as I can here,a vampire is a creature who either needs energy(psi) or sang(blood) or both in order to survive.and by survive I don't mean a vampire will die without either.Vampires just feel tired and listless without the energy or blood that they need.

I'd disagree about most of Hollywood being based on truth. I'd submit that all of Hollywood is based on profit.

The original use of the actual word 'vampire' was first used in Serbia when a man was reported to rise from the dead and strangle people. The word has changed and expanded in its meaning since then.

Vampire, is a term that has been very very much shaped by people for their own personal reasons. To some it is life itself to others it is bullshit. Where it truly exists is in the individual, I do not believe it is genetic, nor do I believe someone can "turn" someone else. It is a choice, whether subconscious or not, that is the lesser of the evils in my opinion and the only option that comes close to holding up. There is simply no evidence for anything else.

as for the term "vampyre"....I have been told that that way of spelling it has no historical accuracy or any kind of accuracy for that matter, it sounds like a role playing term anyhow, though I must stress that I am not SURE. Perhaps it is a way people who claim to be vampires differentiate from the preconceived notions that Hollywood stirs up. Sounds incredibly stupid to me though.

Aside from the types of vampires discussed so far, I have a very loose definition of the term as well. Simply... I think a vampire can be anyone who feeds off anothers well being in any way, shape, or form.

Vampire: To some this spelling refers to the fictional type found in

Vampyre: A person who lives the Vampyre lifestyle and has the Vampyric condition.

Vampyre vs. Vampire: Vampyre is the older spelling of the word vampire used in the 18th & 19th centuries, Thus Vampyre is used to refer to an individual who is truly into the scene or real lifestyle.
The more modern vampire is most often used to refer to the Hollywood, Myth and Fiction.

I believe that even though you are a vampire you still live as humans do, as in having to eat, sleep and still get sick once in a while.
