Im making this an interesting forum subject. The question is has anyone ever believed in dragons? Are they alive, or ever once existed? Or just plain Mythology?

I believe it may be possible that dragons may have once existed. The countries around the world has stories of dragons of its presence as if it existed once. The countries around the world has never made any contact with anyone with ideas of dragons in the past.

It's possible that the the dragon race may have started out along side with the dinosaurs millions of years ago and continue to outlive the dinosaurs and evolve into more interesting creatures.

Some people believe that the dragons are demons themselves while other say they are mearly animals and do what any other animals do. Survive!

Up to this day I somehow believe that the dragons are perhaps among us even now.

I def. Believe in Dragons. I believe they were presnt among the dinosaur age, perhaps as a sort fo spirit being such as we have now. There is just too wide of a acceptance of them for them not to be somewhat of a reality:)

I am not sure .. if there were wouldnt we have found some skeletal remains by now.. but even some religions believe that even the dinosaurs never exsisted and its just a ploy from satan .

I do believe at some point in time they may have existed just as large animals no one under stood or just merely afraid of due to size. look at the dinosaurs.

myth, genetically we are programmed to fear each attribute of a dragon, the claws/talons, birds of prey have talons, the face, similar to that of a big cat, the serpentine body, large snakes were a predator when man was still evolving. all cultures faced these animals and so its only natural that we would come to see them as fearful or magestic, or supernatural, because when we were still primitive (i say that like we stil aren't), these things WERE outside ourselves and beyond what we were. Then we came to combine them in our minds and then we discoverd dinosaur bones and whatnot, but then rumor and tales became myth and myth became legend and the idea turned ludocris when logic and reasoning came about.

Yes, I also believe that Dragons existed. there was a presentation on the Discovery Channel that made the case for Dragons about 7-8 months ago

I belive in dragons. Maybe they do not exist on this plane, but on another. Perhaps they existed once but all died out.

I like the thought of dragons existing. I don't know, though. I would say I am on the fence on this one...

I believe that dragons could have existed before, but There's no way they could still be around. We have satellites to watch other countries and they have them to watch us. There are so many satellites up there that a dragon would neverbe able to avoid the satellite images and as soon as one is spotted than there would be lots of people freaking out about it.

There are a lot of myths about Dragons and so many types it would seem. I believe they evolved from dinosaurs and lived here after that time. The how and why I don't know. I think man hunted them down and they became extinct. It's a very large topic. I wrote an article on Dragons recently and quite frankly I couldn't cover even a small portion of all the things that have been written about them all over the world. There is a lot of superstition about them so...where the truth begins and ends mixed with the folklore is hard to say and quite frankly one existing now other than the Komodo would be scarey.

Do I think Dragons ever excisted yes I do and I think that some mythology was added to make them more fierce but what I do not think is that they were some mere animal.

i think dragons are real as well...i think there are different realms...just like heaven and hell are two other different realms

Yes I believe that dragons existed in some form at one time. Why we have not found evidence of them I don't know. Maybe we have and just don't realize it is a dragon. There are to many myths about dragons for there not to be some truth behind them. Now I don't believe everything that has ever been written about them but some of the myths at least I believe were based on a truth at sometime.

of course dragons are real. do you think that someone just pulled that out of there ass? anyway, if anyone has every found proof of dragons i wan to tsee it, to prove to everybody that doesnt believe that the are real.

no i do not think they are reall. it would be cool if they were around today but since they are not it just leaves for great imagination.

I definitely believe dragons are real. Perhaps they are much like the fey. Some people have the sight to see such things and others just don't. I can't really bring myself to believe that they were anything like the dinosaurs. There is so much mythos and legend surrounding the dragons magical attributes and I have never heard anything like that about dinosaurs. Dinosaurs were animals.

I believe that there is a possibility of dragons, not like story tail dragon breating fire and such.

i think there is stuff out there that we dont even know about or would ever think about, so why not dragons would explain my great granny

The evidence that shows dragons would be in poems, paintings, stories and legend. I don't know that there's any physical evidence of a dragon. In fact, I hate to suggest this as I find them to be a fascinating mythological creature, but since we have physical evidence of everything from dinosaurs to sabre toothed kitties, one has to wonder why there is not a fossil record or remains found of any dragon to date.

There is as much evidence to suggest dragons were real as there is to suggest that the cyclops or the kracken or the minotaur was real. I would hope that doesn't diminish the interest with something as wonderous as the dragon. Things don't have to be real to be interesting and brilliant.

For dragons alone i share a strong belief in, I can watch documentaries for hours on end and still want to know more about them. To me their as real as the earth itself, not that ive seen any but i have a feeling they exist and im never wrong when my gut tells me.

Magical creatures who fly and hunt, and even if their not magical they can hide, They exsist, somewhere, I beleive.

I don't see why they could not have existed at some point. There are different variations of dragons around the world so there must be a basis. There has never been any physical evidence of the bigfoot either, yet hundreds of people swear that they've seen something there. In the midst of the rabble, there must be some truth.

well because i dont know any difference whether its true or not.....im going to believe that the myths are true on this one just because thats how i would like to imagine them.

Dragons have and do exsist even today although some may have been classified as different creatures today. Even the bible speaks of dragons in revelations. Dragons are in every culture on earth past or present. One example of a modern dragon is the kamodo(sp) dragon. It may not be as huge as some of the dragons in history/myth but a modern day dragon fly doesnt have a 4ft wingspan like its prehistoric ancestor either. Every myth in every culture has some basis in fact

I think that Dragons still live today but hide from humans. Just as Vampires once hid from humans from the fear of being killed.

From my experience of being with my ex fiance Jaron, he was a former dragonmaster, until things got messed up with our relationship i was under his teachings he told me that when the time comes that i get my first dragon egg that i'll come to learn that dragons are around, but their only seen by those who have every fiber of their being put into believing into them and well he said that they live in their own world, that our world was too dangerous to stay so they moved on to another dimension, what dimension i wouldnt begin to know. But thats what he passed on to me.

I suppose that if we begin to include spiritual dragons or inter-dimensional dragons, then the possibility of existence grows rather exponentially...but we also begin to include more things that will require believing in...the spiritual or inter-dimensional realms for example. Things that also lack a certain provable element. It's a bit like basing one faith on another. It won't convince the average skeptic (which is not to say you have to convince anyone of your belief) but it does strengthen the foundation of your faith.

I believe dragons once walked the Earth. They most likely had wings, but I do not believe that anything can throw flames from it's mouth! Not now, not ever.

Well as to some peoples theory who dont believe in them and say they are mytholigy. The truth is every myth are all based on pure facts. In every art pictures and stories based on them and points out their myth, but the truth is most of them are basicly points towards the facts. The real fact is indeed that dragons had lived once a long time ago since the dawn of time.

dragons are real some exist on anther plane and some are in human formthough the numbers are few if you have the sight you can usualy tell who they are but believe me they are out there

I do not beleive they existed, they only dragon I know off are the komodo dragon, other then that unless like it was stated before they show me bones and dna, well then I iwll beleive they were real.

here's a thought for you on the fire breathing a firefly lights its abdomen with small amounts of an organic compound similar to phosphorous. So why couldnt there have been a creature that could spit an organic compound more similar to phosphorous? incase you dont know pure phosphorous when exposed to air spontaneously combusts. just a thought

there are still dragons wondering this earth for example komodo dragon, the goanna (a lizard in australia) is a form of dragon.

yea theres always the possibility that they exist, they just cant well their not meant to be seen by everyone i suppose, i guess if you believe enough.

I would love to believe they were real, or ARE real, but when it comes down to mundane reality, has anyone ever recovered remains, has anyone ever seen one and above all, does anyone inside complete societies actually care?

It all comes down to WANTING to find out, let's face it, people are not interested because they're not a part of everyday life.

But personally, i think they do.

I do believe in dragons, I believe they wandered this world before man over populated it and stopped believing in them. I believe they exist on another plane of existance and cross over to those that believe, to protect them and pass on knowledge. The same with unicorns, fairies and elves, and many other mythical and legendary creatures.

I believe that dragons did, at one time, exist in physical form such as dinosaurs. There are too many places all over the world with references to them for them to have not existed. Especially when these countries did not have contact with the others at the supposed time of thier existance.

Now as for whether or not they still exist...well, I think they do, just not in a physical form that we think of them as having. I have met a couple of people who claimed to be otherkin dragons, and when I indulged the witchy side of me, and looked...well, they had HUGE auras, and they were always much wiser than they should have been at their ages.

I also believe they exist in the astral form.

As some one said above thank the dinosaurs and what we have found of them for dragons. The same can be said for titans, ect...

If they ever did exist in a material form we would have found more then we have. Yes there are animals that we call dragons (some of which I would never want to meet up close).


But as I have said to myself they will always exist so long as some one believes. No matter if we can prove it or not.

I believe dragons are real.the dragon is also one of the shaolin five animals.the power a dragon weilds.

I believe that they may have once existed when the earth was a baron wasteland long before the dinosaurs but were extinct long before the dinosaurs came to this earth......as for no bones ever being found to suggest they once did.....there are still many areas yet to be dug up where they could remain....its just a matter of time; whos knows, they may even return one day...=) x

I belive that they onced lived in our world and helped us with things that we didn't know but they had to leave to another world because there was a great up riseing of the humans and they turned against the dragons and the dragons didn't want to fight so the left to get out of harms way because everyone knows that a dragon can burn us to a crisp

there are and never were dragons, dinosaurs exist becuse they are basicaly comprised of a combination of things that early humans feared that were in many parts of the world, snakes birds ect. the history channel did a special on it for those who are curious that would help you out.

Well supposedly on a Discovery channel documentary on Dragons they speak of dragons being found. I didn't see that show but I did find it to be able to purchase it and find out about it. I do have an article I saved somewhere I found a few weeks ago about them discovering a two headed dragon. I had mentioned the Kamodo dragon up further. It's pretty big but nowhere as big as what we now think of dragons.

We clearly don't understand the nature of reality and multiple universes but a lot is being written about this topic recently. It's not out of someones fantasy cap.

i don't know about them existing now but I do believe they did exist at one time. I live dragons I am into yu-gi-oh and my deck has nothing but dragon cards in it. I have always been fascinated with dragons.

just because modern day kamodo dragons are not huge does not mean they were not huge in ages past as I stated before dragonflies at one time had over a 4ft wingspan

I believe that dragons are myth, created by the ancient Chinese to explain dinasaur bones they found. They myth carried over to into Europe, where it was westerized.

...that's my take on it, anyway...

I believe they once existed, but throughout time and evolution, they have changed. Morphed into the Kamodo dragons, and the huge Hila monsters in asia and around those parts. as far as scaled flying dragons, why not? When the dinosaurs roamed the earth, they had flying reptiles. Pterodactyl. So why not? If lizards have poisonous bites today

what about Kamodo dragons...extremely large lizards with a venomous bite. Some giant lizards, which named through the discovery channel as "modern dragons" do still exist. I mean, look at the horned lizards of today. Why is it so hard for people to accept evolution only towards insects and humans. Are we as a race REALLY that special?

I do believe in dragons as well...no, I don't believe they exist in physical form today. But I was given a gift of a white dragon (through third eye) by a friend some time ago...A great protecor. I do not however believe that dragons are walking the earth today.

OK, im not saying you don't have a 3rd eye dragon, but i believe those are more of a sub-concious construct of your passion. I do however believe in Dragons. I dont believe there are any more winged beauties flying around. But I do believe they still exist.

One thing for sure that the term dragon meaning in basic translation is "reptile dragging his tail". Its possible that we've already seen the dragons now alive to this day. The only dragon that comes close relations with modern animal are lizards and alligators and the crocodiles. Most crocodiles today are most considered as the modern dragons cause they are the most largest reptile known to man. Now as for the authentic form of dragon would have to be the dinosaurs. Its possible that the paleontologist as they dig up the bones and some of the pieces just turn up missing and still being left into the rock. And who ever put the bones together, who's to say that the puzzle being put together is realy accurate. As I see the bones being displayed none of the bones are dragging their tails which means they are not classified as dragons. Although however, the crocs ancestors the prehistoric crocodiles are big enough to drag down the T-rex by the throat and eat them. Its true the Cocodiles are truley the most modern dragons in todays history.

I do believe Dragons once did exist. Though the subject of them now existing seems more contriversial** than Vampires now a days; No, personally I don't think they exist now. Though I firmly believe they did at one point in time.

So before you claim something to be "basic translation" you need to look it up and research it. i'm not trying to flame, and if I am, I apologize. But I HAVE researched it. and you are wrong. And dinosaurs are NOT dragons. if you read what I wrote, i said that pterodactyls WERE THE CLOSEST thing to dragons in evolution. I'm sorry if I offended you. But knowledge is power. I think they could have existed. Like others, I would like to see bones, etc. to prove it, but I, for one, would have loved to see one.

I was watching a very interesting documentary on the Animal Planet that gave the dragon potential a really great argument.!!!!

If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. The camputer graphics made it come to life while the theory of the gases in the beast itself was extraordinary!

well xxEmaeraldxx, People could say that about vampires. "Myth, no evidence. Period" And I really don't want to hear"well, I'm a real vampire" because that is not evidence eiher. Or better yet, Jesus, no bones, no evidence, he's a myth. Or God for that matter. So just because there may be no physical evidence yet, don't make a definitive statement claiming they never existed.

belief is one thing. And you're right. If you do believe in something, anything is possible. But for a person to make such a definitive statement as what was said is a tad close-minded. If we can believe in a God(s) we can't see, hear, or touch. Why is it so hard to believe in a creature that could have existed thousands of years ago? We believe in demons and vampires and there is no actual proof of them. No real physical eveidence. And I'm waiting for that person who's going to say "well, I'm a pureblood vampire" Knowing full well they are not. because someone saying they are something, especially online is a bit far fetched for me, and does NOT constitute "evidence" Like I've stated before. I believe there were dragons, but now they may have evolved with the times. the point is WE DON'T KNOW. We cannot definitively say "yes, they did" or "no they didn't"

That isn't to say that I believe in dragons. My belief is that they are myth, but hey, I've been proven wrong before. Maybe I'll be proven wrong this time.
