Is there something we who host cam rooms, might be able to do, to make the VR chat more attractive? I. myself spin Industrial music through my VirtualDJ programme. I've notice a huge drop in cam activity and chat. In your opinion what would you do towards increasing participation?
Stuff like that is a turn-off in cams for me. Loud music playing... nope. Not interested, at all.
I like talking to people, but the people who were awesome to talk to rarely cam anymore (like Moonie, Ducky and Images).
I have to agree. I wouldn't want to go into a cam where loud music is blaring. I only cam for time spent, not for conversation. If people come in, great. If not, even better.
The reason Moonie and images are so awesome on cam, is because they aren't on cam all the time. Morrigon could be mentioned here as well.
However, I typically won't go into a cam if I don't already know the person. And most times, I won't go into someone's cam even if I do know them.
I never stated "loud" music. People will tell you, I've never "blared" music.Music of course is something I do, because i DJ. However I do fancy chat now and then.
That's cool then. When I have music on and actually allow others to be able to hear in my cam, I only type anyway.
Webcam activity has fallen off due to one thing and one thing only...drama.
Yep, I said it. As with everything else that falls off (concerning activity) on VR. The tools are made available to hinder drama in cams, but often times, members don't use those tools. Instead, they choose to not cam at all. Which of course, I understand and don't blame them.
yea you're right drama has killed it. I will mute drama queens in an instant. Simply will not have it. One thing I'd like to see is thsi. in other chat systems all there can voice chat. They raise a "raise hands" symbol, then chat after the person ahead of them is done. Chat hosts can must and bounce unrul arseholes.
I have a cam but never use it. It's not even plugged in. I find it boring so I don't do it. I've had bad experiences when I did in the past outside of here. It's not my motive for not trying it I am simply disinterested.
It baffles me how few people follow thru with their belief based practices claimed in their profiles, journals, or in forum with cam presentation. While I don't personally subscribe to divination I would like to see any one of these claimed card readers do readings. I would also like to witness one of these people that claim to drain batteries near them.

Well that's something to think about- people who claim all these abilities and such "knowledge"... I'd like to see them rattle all that off "live" on cam, instead of copying and pasting things in their journals from other websites as if it's their own knowledge.
I talk the talk when I am on cam. I'm not talking about supernatural abilities and stuff- I'm talking about... if I journal about something that I claim to be really into, I can speak at length about it on cam, right off the cuff.
Damn Skippy Images Is for Realz, and I don't even have to see her in cam to know that.
I can attest to what images said, as I have been in her cam on numerous occasions.
I can also speak at length concerning my beliefs. Actually, it would probably come across better speaking, rather than typing it out.
I am one, who as well would love to see these fantastical claims displayed on cam.
I don't so much as require said claims to be demonstrated just presented, I can rattle off a hand full of members I would like to see speak about their claims, and alleged experiences.
People can do readings on cam?? I thought that was a violation of TOS. This is MasterMel's other pro. I've never heard of people doing that hear. Aren't you afraid of them charging off the cams?
I am quite sure that if found making a financial profit from cam-readings, said "reader" and "customer" will pay the due price for the violation.
DABBLER! Ironically - I was on cam last year and someone told me they were a Psychic and offered em a "free reading". I was reading a book while on cam, and so I told them to tell me the name of my book (which I'd hidden). They left. lol.
When I had my last drunk cam session many...many months back, a psychic gave me reading. I agree on taking what you hear with a pinch of salt but take warnings seriously as you never know what comes around the corner but beware of self fulfilling prophecies.
*IF* people believe in that.
I don't, therefore find it hilarious.
Self-fulfilling prophecies are not mystical or super-natural, not even psychic either, its when an individual is warned about something bad happening (whether its truth or not) and the individual becomes so concerned about preventing it that in trying to do so causes the event to happen. Kind of funny actually.
VR cam rooms can be crazy fun but like any other place, you can get the occasional univited guests who troll and purposefully seek conflict but then they are just insects that can be no problem so long as you ignore them, a lot of heated arguments and petty behavior can be avoided altogether if one just practices ignorance so that one may find bliss.
Alcohol does indeed help when it comes to cam sessions, it makes them far more interesting but on the flip side, it does loosen your self-restraints...which is actually what I find the best part about it but others can lose control of their emotions quite easily.
Funny how the members that talk the most about how profound they are don't readidly cam to "enlighten" the less than profound members that they woo in their journals, and forums. One would have to conclude that such individuals are nothing but ' catfish'.
True that, what is that saying that we have all used? extraordinary claims needs extraordinary proof or something like that, way too drunk to access my memory banks at the moment but yeah, those who make claims i.e psychokinesis etc should prove themselves, if they make excuses like can't reveal secrets or expose themselves, then why say anything in the first place? if someone had an ability or whatever and wanted to keep it secret, then the logical thing to do is not say anything in the first place, even if you are on here because not even an actual vampire (for example) would reveal themselves on here if the status quo was to stay hidden.
its pretty simple if one claims to have supernatural powers...then id give them the chance to showcase those powers.....but i agree if someone truly had those amazing powers why the hell would they be telling anyone about them XD unless they plan to show the whole world it would seem abit suss
I miss Moonie in cam and Image, they both made it awsome and interesting, also was funny was when Morrigon and Moonie were at the same time on cam they made it interactive fun as hell :)
I guess its all about a question of personality maybe or charisma also.
It not just about what you say or do but how you do it how you say it and most of all how you make people feel when they come in cam, if they feel hapyp amnd welcome then they'll come in
I just miss chatting in cams. I enjoy doing it though a tarot reading now and then would be nice.
I think what it maybe is that those who claim such things are way to serious about it. The novelty is lost on them, so entertaing people is beneath them. The best engaging reader I saw performed icebreakers at sorority mixers and she had no pretense that she was inspired by amy mystic source, and people learned about each other.. So people that claim the most profound things are usually mundane people that adopt the jargon to present themselves.. But in the end what do they bring to the table.
I go on cam and not ashamed to say that. When it first started I think I lived on it. But I never will claim to do anything misleading or false. I used to set up my little drawing table and do some drawing while on cam, That was about it.
I wonder if some avoid it because of the reality check. You can't hide much on cam.
I know one thing I miss, And that was the good conversations... But I still do it and maybe have a casual chat on occasion. That door is always open even if I am doing something.
I used to cam a lot, and I'd have freaking awesome conversations with people. For a while it was a pretty set thing, almost like a VR show lol. Sadly, as others have said, a lot of the people who used to take part rarely do anymore and nowadays I'm barely on the site to begin with.
I really enjoyed being on cam and watching others, but unless there's a point to it, there's no reason for me to just sit and stare at someone watching TV (or who doesn't take the time to even say "hi"), or for me to get on cam and have no one take part. Over all I feel the site needs some fresh energy in general. Perhaps if we re-booted cams (heck, even have a few people get together and actually do a weekly show or some such), things would improve.
Having a decent topic helps but I always prefer alcohol as well, and it makes the cams most droll, I host a drunk cam session whenever I can.
If there is a topic listed and it seems interesting or if there is at least one other person I'll enter the room. Sometimes like today I just want company.
I use mine strictly to entertain with music and typing chat. Hones my DJ skills, and the music i have been told adds to the atmosphere. Not blaring of course. *LOL*. People who've been in my cam will tell you that. I've even broadcasted my live radio show on some Fridays.
1. Well...if the music was actual live performances, that would help.
2. Cam users could have interesting topics to discuss, sometimes with guests on cam with them.
3. Hold contests, where the winners would get a premium - like for a month or 6 months, for example.
If/when I get a cam, that's what I'm gonna' be doing! lol
Honestly this is my first time streaming and all I'm doing is singing randomly to some songs and having fun. No one will probably get on and say hi but hey, if they do they'll see me act silly so whatever.
House interviews via skype and or podcast with other V.R. members.
There is so much that can be done with the cams, instead of just logging on and sitting there...! When one logs onto VR, one is already accumulating 'time spent' so to post that as a reason for being on cams is redundant.
Cancer gave us a great tool to utilize on VR. Unfortunately, not many here are taking advantage of it.
Isis I hope to see you on cam soon. Your ideas are great.
I like your ideas Isis. I find that topics make things more interesting.
I would be more than willing to do readings. I like doing them.
I rarely do get on those.. It feels like every time I do with a male specimen on the other end, he expects things that I'm unwilling to do. Its because of the taunting non stop "omg you are gorgeous! Can I see your boobs" crap that has shyed me from any further use of them. Id
be willing to go on with people i know and trust. That's about it. Dabbler, my BFF, of course, as I know hed never do that to me!!

I remember a baby shower we had on cam once. We sent her cards or/ and gifts. On a set date/ time she went on cam and we talked about the baby, caught up on all the news, and watched her as she open the gifts/ cards that was sent to her.
That was fun. :)
See...there are some good things that can happen on cam!
For you ladies that feel like you are on an auction block, get a male friend, a brother, husband, etc. to be on cam with you sometimes.
Now - I want a cam! lol
Man I am so ready to do a go fund me for a cam for ISis
The only problems I see in liver performances is sound card adjustments. VR cams are not friendly towards microphone sound card. You'd have to possess a good stereo mode sound card setting. Sometimes it slows and gets choppy. That's why I use stereo mix, when I broadcast so the music is perfect, along side with adjusting the settings as we.
I think he means live performances.. Is VR sound card friendly as those chat systems like Skype, and Paltalk which have a clear sound. I'm comparing, because i also use both, and the sound clarity is fine quality
Only on VR, could they turn the conversation about a webcam into a spat about people proving their "Vampyrism". Spare me. Let a thread be a thread about it's topic please.
As far as the cams.. I don't go on them because I don't have a computer. But if I did.. I'd be more than willing to do a few things on it ;)
Who said anything about proving their "vampirism"? The implication was professed abilities.
Scroll up. You know darn well what it was being suggestive of. Besides, like I said, off topic. How are we going to get Isis a can? I have a webcam I could mail to her! It was the kind you plug in to the computer!! Do they work on your computer Isis??
not seeing any post hinting of a person defending their claim of " vampirism". Supernatural yes, but nothing referring to " vamps".
I'd say possibly no to the music, some users may have different tastes in songs or whatever. Maybe talking about a specific topic, instead of talking about random stuff?
Let's stay on topic. This is NOT about psychic readings.
I simple pointed out how in tradition with card reading as a parlor mixer it would be neat to see a live stream reading..for entertainment purposes.
Oh Ok I think we get it. NP. My worry would be someone actually charging and taking credit card info.
Oh wow.. Yeah.. I have a small business doing readings. I just started it. Ain't got no customers yet. But I don't do it online.. Just in the real world lol. I don't understand how these people actually PROFIT from doing ONLINE readings! How can you read someone if you can not physically get their energy on the cards?? It's total bullshit LOL!
But anyway, what's up with the VR cam rooms anyway? There are camera CHAT rooms??
They've had them for quite sometime. Click on "Member Webcams.
The thing is...as long as it is within VR's TOS, one can be creative and do almost anything on cam.
I know nothing of sound quality stuff, so the previously mentioned info about that would be a tremendous help for live music performances. With the way the sound quality is right now, I'm assuming that a person playing a cello will translate better than a metal band, for example?
And speaking of music - not everyone is going to like what someone else plays/performs. But some will, and those people will come to the cams. As far as music, the more variety, the better...something for everybody.
Topics for discussion should be varied as well; vampires, of course, other paranormal topics, BeautifulEnlightenment's readings (tarot cards)?, sports, etc. whatever. The main thing is to try to engage the viewer into also becoming a participant.
Dabs - you are a sweetheart, but no GoFundMe page for an Isis cam...lol!
I think random chat with various people would be fun, if those people were engaging...ie had good communication skills and personalities.
For those shyer types, they could come in as anons, and still be able to participate. Hell - just get on and listen to what others are talking about...lol
I haven't be online for a very long time, the last time I was on was back in 2013, and I always had fun in my cam
If people come in, I type not talk, but I don't make false claims or anything like that. I listen to music but I keep it at a low level so it is not blasting their ear drums out.
I will talk about anything with anybody, or just play around, I'm open to any conversation
That's good. Too many on cam just sit there and do nothing. I could watch paint dry and have a better time.
Agreed. especially if I've just finished using a sponge to get a lovely mottled pattern in the paint...I'd rather watch that dry.

I don't go into cams when it is just music, or talk of music I don't enjoy. If I want to sit at the computer and listen to music I can pull up my own, change it at will with my mood.
If the cam isn't of folks talking, or doing something I like to watch *like cooking, makeup or when members are together visiting, seeing them play around and joking* then I don't go into them but to check that they are active. At that is "Hello. Ok you are here, have a good night. Bye." short and out of there.
So much to read, watch, learn online to waste it staring at someone watching TV or playing a game, or blasting music I don't like or care to listen to.
I also would like to see some folks bring out the skill they have- how about a witch doing a ritual? Or a vampire who makes his own fangs? A member who does clubing show us the outfits/ makeup for such events? Cook on cam, do craft on cam, something.
There was a member who did chain mail in cam- that was cool. And it was intresting to watch her. :) No "watching paint dry" in that cam.
The only interesting observation I have on this subject, is that it is funny that those who are complaining that the cams aren't entertaining enough, are the same people who are never/almost never on cam themselves.
If you want the cams to be entertaining, I suggest you should get on cam yourself and BE entertaining. That is, to lead by example. Otherwise, you really shouldn't be complaining about something you're unwilling to do yourself.
There was a guy who did cooking pn cam and shared recipes. He's been gone over a year or two. I was always in his cam. But, I agree with the previous poster. get on cam yourself if you can do equal or better.
When I get a cam, I will be DOING and DISCUSSING stuff. lol
I never went on cam, because I have a different accent from all of you and my English is not perfect, so that shies me away from doing a cam session.
Speaking about performances, I loved mostly cam sessions and it's nice to see people rather than just read their words.
Sometimes I even wonder into cams of people that I don't know. Most of them were nice to me, but once one was rude to me, telling me to go away because it was a private conversation, if that was it, why did she put the session on public?
Another reason that I noticed why people are not going on cam anymore, is that others are taking it as an opportunity to fight on-line. You can't even go as an anon without people telling you to sod off.
Most of the Cam that I can see, there is nobody as a observer, reason, too boring. If you are going to have a cam, be ready to entertain the visitors, or, they will leave and never come back. The topics should be appropriate for the visitors. Don't go and talk about something weird and out of context.
I get on cam for my reasons. I don't get on to entertain anyone. If someone comes in my cam to be entertained, I am always happy to disappoint.
Television is for entertainment. Or perhaps, stop being a boring, narcissistic person and expecting everyone to entertain you.
Honestly, I avoid camming or joining cam rooms because my past experiences with them have been horrid.
You either get a bunch of creeps or people who are just rude in the chat sections.
Not really my kind of thing.

"Television is for entertainment. Or perhaps, stop being a boring, narcissistic person and expecting everyone to entertain you."
Thread asked what would bring folks into cams- don't be upset when you get the answer. And why folks don't go into them.
And yes- TV, book, heck even other websites are on my list above watching someone not doing anything on cam.
If you sit on cam and do nothing - maybe folks just aren't intrested in seeing it.
That's not my point, I (personally) don't want people to come into my cam. People in this thread act as if, you must entertain to be on cam. That isn't a requirement.
If said people don't like that others choose to sit on cam and not entertain, perhaps they should get on cam and entertain others. Stop demanding of other people, what you are unwilling to do yourself.
Soon, maybe next week, I might start doing the webcams. Just to talk with you all. Especially if anyone needs advice... yeah.
If i wanted to cam with someone on here, i would use Skype or something. I don't understand the reason behind camming on here unless it's just easier for people to get to know you better, or want to outside of Skype or FB for that matter.
I look at it as a way of some people getting "attention" but since i have no desire for attention, I simply don't use it.
I also have no desire to watch people on cam. I only do those things with friends only.
One of the reasons I don't *love* VR cam, although I do use it from time to time, is that it is very one-way without using the multicam feature which is too arduous and often causes my computer to crash.
