I think it could be real. It's the same with the Lochness or Bigfoot. People still research it's existence but they don't totally rule out that it's not real. I'm a big believer that just because I can't see it, doesn't make it not real. Sure, I'm a little skeptical at times but not totally close minded.

They havent quite decided exactly on what they think the chupacabra is. Some think that humans crossed animal genetics to make this creature & others believe that its just animal species thats bred together to create this odd specimen. So many people have so many theories. Heres a website that might help a little....itt alks about research, sightings & theories on the creature.

Found this sight very intersting.

http://www.werewolfpage.com/myths/Chupacabra.html

Just so many mtyhs and stories to realize that there is more than we know out there. Like the rain forests they believe that they have only seen part of the species in there. So maybe this legends or lore may be true.

I remember on Lifetime in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries, there was a segment on the chupacabra. It was aired when I was young but I remember thinking of the possibilities. I still believe it is real but on the the objective side, I seriously doubt it can fly. Maybe it can jump very high but fly, doubt it. Especially considering none of the sightings have showed anything that would aid it in flying, except for quills on the back, how could that help it fly?

I think it goes with all mysteries and myths, bigfoot, yeti, loch ness monster, jersey devil, the mothman and many more, they are folklores but have they been blown out of proportion. Maybe we are just trying to find mystery in the world that is now lacking due to science and its need to prove everything right or wrong. Once upon a time there was a lot of mystery and romance in the world. I think once the discovered the world was round not flat it kind of changed the mind set of the world forever.

As all myths start out with sightings, word of mouth, as well as personal experiences etc. I believe that there is always a little truth to it. Until we can actually have prof of these incidences, it will forever be a myth.

We've talked about this before on VR... but it was a long while back.

This is most common in Latin countries, and some places in the South. Seems to be a myth to me. It's never been proven. But to those who claim to have witnessed them- you could never tell them different. Much like old Bigfoot and Loup Garou.

I don't discredit the existance of them. This is one subject that has intrigued me for quite sometime after seeing a picture that in no way could have been "photo-edited" of a smaller sized creature that was shot by a Texas rancher.
I thought it at first was some kind of "inbred" dog lol, but didnt seem likely, it was nearly hairless, its skintone was a bluish grey coloring a tail sectioned like that of a rat's, and the lower k-9 teeth protruding visibly past the upper lip.
That thing was ugly, but I've never seen or heard of anything like it, my guess was chupacabra, but then there were so many different versions out of what they look like.. I just give up on wondering what it was.

I agree with lolita, we can't discount something just because we haven't seen it with our physical eyes that it exists. If they do these things are masters at living secretly so finding them would be a near impossibility.

Mythical creatures or extinct creatures are sometimes found by scientists. Imagine the stir caused when the first platypus was sent Europe. Yesterday, another coelacanth, a once thought to be extinct fish, was captured by fisherman. The study of cryptozoology is the examination of "mythical" creatures such as Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster by biologists. They are trying to find concrete conclusive proof that these creatures exist or do not.

I think a lot of folklore has its basis in truth. I think too that it's an individual's perception of that truth that defines whether ot not they believe the lore. I also believe we are discovering hitherto unknown species all over the world all the time, and see no reason why certain creatures can't have been hidden from us for countless centuries, but are real nonetheless.

i know i am probably gonne regret this LOL..

but for my first major post in the forums area .. i have to tell you this story...

my son and i had walked to a firends house one evening .. and on our way home... saw SOMETHING... we joked about it being the CHUPA... it was small... almost fox-like... but .. NOT

it ran out of the tall grass on the left side of the road... and just as it got about halfway across the road .. it STOPPED... and turned to look at my son and i .. and it was the most hideous SMALL creature i have ever seen... its jaw was badly mishapen .. it didnt have an under-or-over-bite... it had a SIDE bite.. its jaw protruding a good INCH to its left... its eyes... were WAY to big for its head.. bulging and .. well... unusually WET looking .. almost as if its eyes were welled up with tears.. it was just about ten yards in front of us...

it was hairless.. COMPLETELY... and for a split second i let myself thing that it WAS a fox .. with mange or some similiar affliction.. but then the reality of that JAW and those eyes sank back in .. its tail, hairless aslo, was much longer than a foxes would be, and actually drug the ground behind it ..

it stood and looked at us for at least 20 seconds if not 30... glaring is a better word i should say..

i was literally frozen .. afraid it would run away and afraid it WOULDNT .. yah know?

my son reached out and touched my arm and said "what the f^ck IS that" in a low whisper.. and that seemed to kick it into gear... its REALLY weird-shaped ears .. kinda like those of a FOX-BAT... perked up .. and in a FLASHHHHHHHHHHHH .. it was gone.. we ran up to where it had stood and looked into the field on the right side of the road where it had fled... we could see the tall grass MOVING but not see the creature... but we did catch one final glimpse of it as it leapt from the grass into the woods...

we turned around and went BACK to laurs house to tell her about it .. and of course her and her husband Randall laughed at us .. and had us ALMOST convinced it was some sort of fox or messed up coyote ..

the next morning.. laura called me and ORDERED me to come to her house ..
when i got there .. she was standing in her yard waiting for me.. beside her chicken coup .. she had some very pretty exotic chickens .. just to look at .. and they were in a small coup... that wasnt just a fence but was COVERED with chicken wire also .. to keep foxes and such out...

the fence .. was untouched... all four sides and the top were completely intact... NO WHERE was there any digging done... the coup had not been BREACHED lol..

but all four of her pretty little chickens..
were dead.. headless.. and the heads were NOT in the coup .. anywhere... and..
(have you guessed this part?) there was NO BLOOD ANYWHERE... not a smidge, smear or drop... there wasnt even an unusual amount of loose feathers in the pen ...

so... was it the chupa??

i dont know .. but it sure wasnt a fox or a coyote that got in the pen and did that !!!

in all honesty..
Kami

I ave heard that many of these things are real but come from other realms that some are of the lower realms and some of the higher. The beasts like bigfoot and the chuppacabbra are of the lower ones and that is why they are not easy to find they can come and go as they please from one realm to the other. Silvia Browne has done a book on this subject and it was very good. I don't know how much I believe but it does seem logical.

The jsersy devil is one of my favorite pieces of folklore. It is about a woman who is about to have her thirteenth child she believes that thirteen is an unlucky number and has her child cursed. The child is born with the wings of a bat and the legs of a horse.
That is just one of the versions of the stroy that I have heard I am sure that their are more. After all, it is folk lore. These are stories that have been told for years and each time they have been twisted to make it seem more entertaining. I believe that there is a small piece of truth behind every myth. They had to get started somehow.

Considering that there is still considerable uninhabited land throughout the US whether national parks and rain forests, government property, the polar ice caps or even underground cities (i.e. NY Subway sub-structures or that underground "Underworld" in Italy) who's to say we've catalogued every trace of life? This is why the X-Files should return to TV lol

All myths and legends are based on some truth or fact.Mortals confuse these or try to embellish on them to either make them more moral or a form of warning...so they turn them into these tales. They are also easier to remember that way.

I think it got a start in a legitimate creature of some sort, but got altered and retold so many times that its now completely unrecognizeable, even if we knew how it got started. Kinda like that "telephone" game when we were kids.

Then again, it is sort of similar to the cow-mutilations here in the US and in Europe...

Given the lack of knowledge that humans have about the actual number of species that exist, I beleive it is entirely possible. I doubt that it is an example of natural breeding because due to the description, too many species would have had to be involved and the species involved in such a specimen would lack the genetic similarities to produce stable offspring.

Whether the nature of said creature is natural evolution, supernatural phenomenon, or nothing more than a simple tale of rumors gone wild, it's something to look into.

I often think that a lot of myths are mere events with unexplained causes.

Like Nessie of Loch Ness in Scotland, Bigfoot (Sasquatch) in the USA, or the Ogopogo in Canada who is said to reside in Lake Okanagan in British Columbia.

I went swimming there and I didn't see any such creature in the water. I even went boating farther out into the middle of the black watered lake and didn't notice anything unusual. If there was something there, I would bet it is frightened off by all the daily activities there.

*Image of Lake Okanagan was found at Mysterous World.com

I believe that it is a possibility for it to be either.I'm sure that they are still some mammalian animals on this planet that mankind has yet to poke and prod.
With all of the scientific experimentations secretly being done in genetics that they have surely had a few that may have been released.
Then again it's all speculations.

I looked a couple of pages of this up and it really did not sound right. I don't think this is even sort of real. There are no known photos, no track marks, just vague images. I think I would have to see one to believe it.

I'm indifferent. I honestly couldn't say whether I believe or not, but somehow I secretly wish the chupacabra exists. I know it's redundant, but Wikipedia has a lot of information on folklore and mythical beasts.

i think like most creatures out there(bigfoot, mothman, lochness) they exist and can be seen only by those who believe. thats why those who are nay sayers never see them, and so many others do.plus it helps to be at the right place at the right time. where do you think the stories of vampires, ghosts and other supposedly mythical beings come from? i think the paranormal exists and are out there to be seen, but since the planet is so damn big the chances are not very high to see them unless by accident. i myself have experienced spirits, and so have others which tells you something there must be some truth to all this.....you don't believe it then your missing out.

Queenclover, thank you for your posting and information. I remember well when the El Vocero newspaper in Puerto Rico began to print the reports in regards to the chupacabra since I was merely about 12 yrs old.

For the sake of not causing plagiarism, I will post this link I found. http://www.crystalinks.com/chupacabras.html

This is quite an informative website and it could help understand more about this creature. Although I have seen "videos" of the chupacabra, I still cannot say if they truly exist, but one thing I do know is that we may not be the only creatures about lurking in the night. :)

el Chupacabra is sid to be left here on earth by aliens. Or it is an alien in itself. But it is also said to feed on farm animals like cattle, goats, pigs, etc. It is supposed to live down in the south like in mexico, brazil, around those areas. There have been many sightings of this creature. For example, Two little girls were walking to school and they spotted this creature crouched under a tree eating from a dog. It was too big to be a cougar or wolf, and it was almost human-like. The next day after they told their mother about what happened, and after she contacted the police, two government officials showed up at her house and offered her millions of dollars for her and her daughter's lives to keep quiet about what her daughters had seen. I think the chupacabra is a scientific screw-up, that escaped and the government was part of it and they are trying to cover up their mistake.

I'm skeptical about Chupacabra, just because there haven't really been any reports of one that matched up. Some say it's as large as a bear, others say that it's fox/dog sized.. Some say it's an anthromorphic lizard creature, others say it's dog-like.

I'm also skeptical about it's name, "goat drinker." Have you ever been near goats? They're MEAN. It wouldn't suprise me if one scratched itself and lost blood through that method.

I'd like to believe there are animals out there that we as humans have not classified yet. In college, myself and a girlfriend slept out on a big rock in Exmoor park (UK)...we had heard about the Exmoor beast which killed sheep and looked like a big cat. Did not hear or see anything...but we still think given the area something could live out there and go undetected.

Here are some links I found when looking them up:

Supposedly, this is what a Chupacabra looks like:

I believe they are legends, but then again... I'm not always right. It's like the loch ness monster. Who really knows, right?

i acctually believe in the jersey devil because around here where i live, there are some things that have happened in these woods we cannot explain. Like two hunters were down at these woods by my house, and they targeted something that was very tall and it was moving at an odd pace, and they shot at it, heard it go down and went to look for it and found nothing
