For Those of you that weren't born a vampire, what drew you in to the dark culture??
The mysterious beauty of it... I actually got into it through stories and movies but then I feel in love with it the more I learned.
i wanna know what it like for thr real vampire the ones that feed off the others i want to knwo every thing
Well I was not born a vampire, but I dinstinctively remember when I was a child the man besides my bed. For some reason I dreaded his visits and I KNEW he was a vampire way before I even knew what they were. I think that since I was a little girl and raised around magick I began to understand the existence of vampires and other creatures as well as the astral planes.
Uhm ok I think I might of said a bit more than what I needed to say..lol..sorry everyone but I like the topic. I think we all have a sense of wanting to belong to such a culture and yet want to understand it while others who are real experience it every night and know what is like to be a real vampire.
I have been intersted in Vampires since the age of 21years old it began when I read my first book by Bram Stoker Dracula and ever since then I have grown to love any thing Vampire that in clude movies about them aswell
i grew up with my mom having halloween as her favorite holiday and we always watched movies about it and read books together so it just stuck and i love her so much for that b/c its so much better than painting your nails 24/7. lol
I completely agree with you Katryna. Wanting to belong to such a mysteriously beautiful culture, is something quite natural!
thats true. as a kid i wanted to be a unicorn lol. too bad thats not possible. lol
my first vampire movie i saw was bram stoker's Dracula then 'The True story of Vlad the Impaler. I saw them both and became very intrigued with the idea of vampires. I then read, watched, listened to everything i could get my hands on. hence me on here as well.
Just...the type of person i am and the kind of lifestyle i want.
i have always had a facination with things like vampires and witches. its just a part of my life i enjoy
I have also always had a fascination to darker things and i think i was drawn to it from an early age
I felt at home immediately, no one will make fun of me here, and to express myself is true euphoria.
The very first time I saw Bela Lugosi and Christopher Lee play Dracula when I was a child I have been obsessed with vampires...the older I get the stronger the obsession grows :)
I'm impressed...you guys all feel this on a personal level. It's nice to see such natural devotion!
If other people want to see my life as dark and unusual, that is alright. However, I do not. I am the sunniest person I know, bearing in mind the music I listen to, clothes I wear, and what I fancy to drink.
Even as a child I had been very interested in the darker side of things. As I grew older I started following a lot of the gothic subculture, dressing in black, body piercings, etc. Eventually I started wanting to drink blood, but other than my own I never have. There aren't many of us in Arkansas.
growing up i took what i could, wasnt really me for i knew what i liked but that wasnt around, i met my b/f who is goth and into the darker lifestyles which he has introduced me into, i am into vampires ect and like the lifestyle and like to learn more
A good friend brought me here....the introduction mingled with a good deal of curiosity...I stuck around.
my keen interest in vampires brought me here. i also want to make friends with different kinds of people and learn from them.
i know this is a good online community right from the start and it's goodness lured me in
I have always liked darker things, and that is just who i am, nothing or nobody brought me to where i am today, i have found it myself...
well it was my ex girl friend who invited me to this site.i than found it very interesting and got addicted to it.and rite now i am enjoying every bit of it .
I have always been fascinated with vampires and the like... and when I found this site, I felt at home. No one criticized you if you were or weren't a vampire.
Good question, I'd like to say I know for sure what first drew me to it but I cant I have just always for as long as I can rememeber been interested and felt as though there were something missing.
I liked everything that envolved vampires since i was i little. Now i do everything that i can to know more about them.
i have NO idea. kinda strange. mabey my shitty childhood
I was always drawn to the darker side of things from a young agei could see my self either as a vampire or a witch
as a teen i was very attracted to the occult and the darker side of life.. as time has passed its always remained an important part of my life
I have always been a night owl and I love the erotic mystique associated with vampirism.
sheer boredom is why I am actually here, although I honestly can't identify as much with the vampire syndrome, I certainly feel more at home in the darker side of life. So really it is just good luck that finds me in the company of those with similar feelings.
zB
Well you need the dark side as well as the light side ..... It is what balances us, My family is whom introduced me to this wonderful site.
The mystery and beauty of it all. There's much more to vampires than just drinking blood--and many don't take the time to learn about it.
I have always been drawn to the darker side of life. The Vampire is creature of wonder and beauty in every sense. Being the greatest of the noachterul , it seems only natural to a person such as i to be pulled in by the charm and mystery of the vampire.
I guess for me it was the joy of giving me life blood or energy to them. I never really wanted to be a vampire or anything like that, however, I do love the thought that I am a prized commodity. AB- is so hard to find these days.
I have always have a curiousness about it ever since I was a little girl in the grade school library.
It is not just the vampire culture that I am interested in. I am interested in various things of the occult nature. I have always read books on these subjects. But coming to the rave was more about getting to know others who were interested in the same things as me.
I am attracted to darker/ alternative/ unusual People.
I find the 'mainstream' people rather stifling, they don't appear to see outside the box.
Here I have found pretty much all walks of the alternative, and I can be myself, kick back, relax be as deep as I like and I am understood and ALSO matched in depth of my spirituality, beliefs and my past experiences !!
I find that very stimulating.
Other than my pal "G" introducing me here!!
I've always been fascinated with vampires & werewolves, demons & everything...since i was very young i've always had a dark side...but as a youngster i never embraced it as i was scared of what my family would think & of how people would react...then at the age of 13...I embraced my true nature & have never been happier....I came here to find people with the same likes as me who i would be accepted by & who dont judge...I've found many friends here...some have become like a second family (online family should i say..lol.., i treasure them very much) I love this place!!
I think it all started when i was about 4 or 5...thats when i knew of my darkness...sitting up watching horror films with my baby sitter...fascinted by the gore & bloodshed....sharing a house with a ghost, having tea partys & playing with her for hours...i dont remember much but i still have a few memories of her...i thnk thats when it all began for me!
I've always been fascinated by dark things, and out of the mainstream things..
Ever since I was very little.
I friend of mine showed me the Rave. I was intrigued because of the variety of people I saw. I began visiting on my own.
When I signed up I took a while visiting and looking. I am very intrigued by the differences of opinions I have found. I have learned more from this website than from any other website where I interact.
It has fulfilled a need for me that I did not know existed. I have made good friends here and love it.
Well as far as I know my mother was a Empath . And I've always been a Psy or Sexual Vamp . I'm not sure if I was born that way thou i think so . She used to read a lot of books about Vampires and Edgar Allen Poe . I used to read them as a child . They were really beautiful . I didn't understand them all thou . Then my mother become a Christian and some really weird things started happening to her and she burned her books . -_____-
Later on in my life . Those books became a comfort to me b/c my life as a teen wasn't all the great . I've also always listened to dark music and have felt presences before . I didn't really start until I had a girlfriend and later a boyfriend . Thats when I really started liking it even more .
well my interest in gothic cculture and my friend scarymee brought me here on vr.
Since I had learned about almost all of the world's theistic religions, I found myself out of balance and needed to learn about what the theists referred to as "the dark side". I believe to be in perfect balance, one must learn about everything, no matter what it is.
To learn about something is to understand it. To understand something is to tolerate it. To tolerate something is to be at peace. When one is at peace, one is willing to learn.
Being on VR has greatly assisted me in learning about the darker side and realize it isn't really dark, it's just different.
I had a feeling from a young age I didnt fit in with others due to something coursing threw my vains lil did I know it was my animal nature.

A combination of following links googling info about the late actor Mark Frankel... and finding out that I was not unique at all.
Indigo was brought here to be what I can't as my other 'self'... or at least what I haven't favorably accomplished. It's proving successful :)
A motorcycle accident in 1989 and the subsequent jump start the nice hospital people gave me!
me, I am a curious cat. I love to learn and I love to see how others live. I was brought into a S&M world first b/f was a Dom
I also find that people from these backgrounds accept everyone for who they are not what they look like or what they have. Its too bad not everyone can be like the people here
For me it was from the prodding of my cousin thats on here. Another part was from curiosity & wanting to know what the site was really all about
It's amazing that so many of you were brought here (not just the website but the culture as well) by different people and interests, yet all seem to share a common craving for knowledge.
Even as a child I was always interested in Vampires. I found a site or group on myspace that lead me here where I feel much more at home:)
i was always into vampires and werewolves.
like most i am passionate about this.i learned what i am from my dreams
I visited Vlad's home town and suddenly realised the connection with Bram Stoker's book.
This got me reading on fictional vampires, thsi lead to mythological vampires and my interest has stayed ever since
Curiosity and just this thing inside of me telling me that this is the direction I'm suppose to go in.
I was always attract towards the occult and the dark, I have tried to be a "good" girl but ended up always doing the wrong things and enjoying the wrong things. I was into vampires , dreaming of wanting to be oen of praying to be bite ot become one...so when my ex showed me this place I jumped on the site and I ma at home here.
Reading books and watching movies, seeing the conflicting truths and myths and wanting to know what was real or not. Basic curiousity and interest.
I've always found the "darkside" of things fascinating. I don't know what draws me to it, but I feel very energetic around it.
Hmmm, "normal" people bore me!! Something of the "dark"world attracts me....maybe it's the freak in me...but hey, nothing wrong with a little freakiness!-lol I have always loved Vampires......it's a fang thang! They strike a fasination in my soul and I love it!
I stumbled upon this site actually looking for something else... but after reviewing exactly what this site was about, I became intrigued and have realized that it is one of the only sites where I can come and talk to people that I feel understand me. I also come for the knowledge of people like myself. :)
i am interested in the paranormal always have, and i have an open mind and love to learn about all things and wat ppl's views are
Well I am not a vampire but have always been drawn to the culture and wanted to know more so when the opportunity arose I took the chance.
It all started at a very, very young age. I grew up with my father for the first nine years of my life, for my ma was either at work or school. Turns out, my father was and is into the dark culture and Pagan religion. I knew I was different when I was four and listening to Metallica, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Black Sabbath and so on...since most of my peers listened to like, fucking Nsync*, Britney Spears or just plain old putrid rap. So, I've been this way for as long as I can remember, and I wouldn't change it for the world. x)
Finding others like me. A place to "fit". I have found it here!
I've always been interested in vampires and dark cultures.
Okay, so none of you were born a Vampire who have participated in this thread so far. I am sorely dissapointed.
Mystery and intrigue bring a lot of people to the darkside, dabling in the unknown never fails to enchant us.
I do not see this world to be as dark as most claim it to be. I find it full of light and specticals just like the other world some tend to shun.
I find that In the darkest resses that there can be light. Humore and grace.
Which is why I find myself drawn to it.
Not for the darkness but for the light.
I'm not a vampire but I really like the dark culture. Movies were my first intrest then it got to be a little more.
i am addicted,,,,,,,,,,,,quite literally to all who walk without fear 2 be who they want and desire, so if thats a dark culture, so be it................besides maybe if U QUESTION Y U R HERE,,,,,,,,,,maybe u should reflect again,,,,be well
I just love the unknown and everything that isnt considered normal.
vampsheartagram - i'd never heard of VR before she told me about it - she totally corrupted my innocent soul.
I was invited by my friend who has discoverd this place and she has an interest in the ways of the dark. I accepted to come to see what this place is like. I thought I would find someone who is different and she would be a real goth person. I believe goth people are the kind who still listen to the metal music. I hate rap and most of the ordinary girls are into it.
My Kitten sent me the invite, so I looked around, and decided that it would be a good place for me to be able to relax and talk to others that would not act as if I was insane, for the gifts and such that I have. And, as I have spent the past few days around here, I have found that I was right.
Books and Movies mostly. I've been interested since age 7 lol. I love it here, and have found it to be my favorite site as well hehe
I have been interested in vampires, werewolves, ghosts (the darkside, as you say) since I was about 7. After watching my first vampire movie, I has hooked for life.
I have always been fascinated with the Vampire myth and ideologies and like the opportunity to meet new and different people
by that I mean some books she had and she taught me about the tarot
the chance to gain knowledge about the side of life i liked. people like me. who always thought the dark was better than the sunlight.
The way I found this great website community was via the Devil's Panties comics. The reason I've stayed is because I've always had a dark side that I've repressed for many years, that I've recently begun to accept as a significant part of my personality. I've always been fascinated with vampires, the occult and magick, and have found this website to be a great resource. The people here are phenomenal as well - I've finally found people like myself where I can be comfortable as myself.
What brought me into the culture was a misguided need for a sense of purpose and intelluctual fullfillment. What brought me to this particular site was a flashy logo at the bottom of GothMatch.com. That's right...I'm lame.
