Ok I was reading GrieviousDemon and XxImohotepxX's threads on vampire killings and vampire extremists and got to thinking about all the so-called vampire killings.
Sorry I missed my point in the first post.
All these people were so-called vampire killers:

How is it that the police can confirn that they were vampire killers or killings? Do they accurate evidence that clarifies they are vampires? Is there some sort of report out that justifies how a vampire kills any differently than a human? I would like to hear more feed back. I listed two websites to look at. That is where I found my info from.
Personally I think most of the people listed above were just plain crazy and used vampirism as an excuse to get out of the mess they caused.
I think that police/ society mainly label a killer as a vampre killer if they ingest the blood of their victim or kill them because they think that they need the victims blood. I will have to do a bit of research on your list of names though there might be more to it.
I agree with the last part you said about them using it as an excuse to get out of being put in the loony bin. But still some of them were put to death. Some of them had a real morbid fascination with death, blood and killing so I am not surprised they were marked as vampires.
interesting will have to look into those links and do research. think the media and the police classify it as vampire killing if the blood is drains and used and ingested but isnt that cannibal as well?
That is what I was thinking as well. I thought that was considered cannabalism too.
a few of them were blood drinkers and some of them told the police they were vampires to justify their acts.
Just because I tell someone that I am vampire does not make it real. If that were the case we could all be anything we wanted to. I just don't see how they can justify them vampires. Need to do more research. Can't wait to hear what others have got to say.
I'm fairly sure that in those where the police were involved, the police and other legal folk called them murderers.
The press will call anyone anything to sell more papers, they attach the labels.
Lawyers will try and get the people off as mad by playing on some odd thing that happened during the murder
well honestly you have to look at the era of time each case was being investigated .. Take Balthory for instance .. She loved blood .. and for her time the crimes she did were concidered Vampiric . Now Mr. Ferrel on the other hand was a modern time straight up in your face killing .. These cases are different yes .. what make them vampire Killings.. The media , they way they lived there lives, or is it just us ( the public) feeding into the games others who like to use the hype to get your attention in order to sell
like someone once told me, what ever sells the paper, of makes the front page, I am pretty sure they dotn have secret archives or documents for this type of thing, I am sure tis mainly just a label. If their were vampire killers or secret archives thats what they woul be, secret.
Some of these were self professed vampires, others were considered vampires later by historians or folklorists because they involved blood in their killings or because later fiction work capitalized on their fame and made them into vampire characters.
I don't believe Bathory was considered a vampire by her contemporaries or they would have enacted a far more traditional punishment to insure their safety (removing the head, etc) and since she was buried in a church which would have been unthinkable for someone believed to be a vampire in the early 1600's. In fact, Bathory was a sadist and a murderer but the bloodbaths of later fiction are not factual in her case at all so historically, there's almost no reason to have her on the list.
Even if they do not drink the blood, if a killer does anything to cause the exsanguination of a victim, they will be labled a "Vampire Killer."
yes and even those who didn't completely exsanguinate their victims and only played in some of the blood or used a portion of the blood in some way also got the moniker.
I am sure it all stems from the young process of profiling. They feel they have to find some sort of classification for these horrible killers, to stave off feelings of helplessness concerning them.
Agreed. If it can be classified then it's not as scary as someone who's just bugfuck insane and a murderer we can't make sense of. Still, with the really vampiric homicides or assaults, I've wondered whether any of them may have been or felt they were sang vampires...I've commented before that as soon someone acts out, they are marginalized by the vampire community as being insane and not really a vampire at all. Seems to me they could be both.
Vampire or not they r still ppl and they still feel pain it sudnt matter if they were r not
I just feel bad those those simply strange people who were killed just for being different. I'm no Vampire and I doubt I'll ever be lucky enough to come across a real one... so don't stake me!
I think if it has to do with alot of blood and is undetermined they just label it as vampiric and in reality most are just crazy and that is the excuse they use as to being a vampire. They have no clue for real.
sociaties way of labling up or a very good way out of the death sentance.
It would seem that some folks have a misunderstanding of this thread...it isn't about innocents who were murdered for being a vampire...this thread is about serial killers and famous murderers who admitted to being vampires or were later classified as vampires by the historians or the media. There is no need to feel sorry for them unless you have profound sympathy for serial killers in general.
I would say no, as folk who do not have energy problems as psi vampires are said to have, are able to re-take from (source).
Also I tend to think certain safegaurds are built in to all of us.
i think it could be an asumtion and just negative parts on the police and media depicting such individuals as vampire killers only giving us negative views.
Many of the people mentioned here, were into the black arts/satanic side of things.just because they drank the blood of there victims, this doesnt make them a vampire,it pisses me right off when our kindreds name is used in such disgraceful acts against humanity,i,m a vampire of 10 years awakening, yes i drink sanguine, but i,m no murderer, the press labels these vile people as such in ignorance.i,m a vampire, because in my soul thats what i am.but i still respect life.these people have seen fit to use stuff of legends to commit evil crimes and use it as an excuse to escape prison,or as one of the couples mentioned, said they were following satans orders.need i say any more.
pointing fingers at satanist is just as bad as pointing it at vampires simply put i think in every society there are bad or misdirected individuals it does not mean that satanist or vampires are bad each society has a set of general guidelines to go by and when those boundaries are overstepped thats when they are in the wrong.
the general public are paranoid and stupid, it will get to a point that if you wear black youll be arrested for being a "supicious cultist"
The Police and I agree with you these people were role players and there crimes were described by the role playing rules they set up by the papers always in search of sensationalism and defense atturneys always looking for a way out fir thier clients.
After reading other material, I don't think it is just the media that labels people what they see fit. I believe that people within the society are just as guilty as the media. If the people read the stories that the media write then the people are just as guilty as labeling the people involved.
All through out time people have labeled other people vampires and other such mythical creatures because they do not understand them or their beliefs. If a person believes that they are a vampire or a werewolf then so be it. But when a person commits a horrific crime and claims to be a mythical creature in order to get away with the crime that they have committed, then the person in question needs to be rightfully punished.
There are so many stories that go along with each of the cases mentioned at the beginning of this thread, that it is hard to say what the truth really is. I believe that these people are really disturbed and detached from the reality of life.
i agree with most of the above, its just for justification, they need something to classify the unknown or the plain gruesome into what is most acceptable to society, but im sure even in their time these killers who claimed to be vampires were laughed at. Because of course everyone knows that vampires never have existed, just people and their morbid facinations with blood, sex, and death, eternal youth and so on :)
What we have here, are three types of people. The Batshit Looney, the Role Player, and the Calculated Murderer. The Batshit Looney has convinced themselves they ARE vampires, and so act out of a lunatic 'need' for blood. These people are to be pitied, and then shot. Then you have the Role Player, the person who pretends desperately to be a vampire, and so, must do everything they can to keep up the facade, lest everyone else find out what they know in their heart of hearts...that they are full of shit. These people are to be pitied, and then locked up until cured...or shot. And then you have the Calculated Murderer, who knows what they are doing, knows that they are not vampires, but uses it as an excuse to avoid the death penalty, and get into the psych ward instead. These people are to be admired for their mastery of the judicial system, and then shot. Twice.
And for those who will raise the inevitable..."But -I'm- a vampire, and -I'm- not a role player/looney/murderer!"....prove it.
Otherwise....
if a person is killed in a way that has anything to do with blood, like drinking or bathing in blood is a mark in our minds as a vampire relative thing.
If a killer ingested the blood in any way they are labeled a vampire killer...
Given just how many people are killed by other people each year, applied over a few hundred years, there is bound to be a few examples of just about everything. It would be statistically impossible not to have had at least a few of these cases.
I believe that when police are referring to a Vampire killer, they are referring to the style of killing. If the blood is drained from the victim, labeling it a"Vampire" killing makes classifying it easier.
I think they are just killers. Period. Calling them vampires is a way to get attention, sell papers, and get ratings. They may have acted out in ways they gathered from horror stories- doesn't make them any different. I wouldn't put them on a different level- I think that's what they probably desired.
some of them have murdered really cruel innocent people, now if you feel sympathy for those monsters look once again to yourself and if you feel like you're still right, get some help and quick
now I called those people, murderers, monsters, I'm not saying that vampires are monsters, they don't have to kill to feed, nowadays there are enough willing to give their blood on their own
so all those people in the list should burn, it doesn't matter if the beast within takes control, we're responsible for letting it out
"These people are to be admired for their mastery of the judicial system, and then shot. Twice."
bravo good sir.....fucking bravo.....
lol
They may be called Vampire Killing's for they way they lived .. Balthory was conciderd one due to the times that she lived in ..Her lust for blood is obvious historical
I have to agree with GD's first post..... but I wanted to say that I feel people still fear vampirism....therefore they will fuel the fire and make vampirism an excuse...
Vampire killer is only a label. whether the media uses it to sell papers, or the person "claims" to be. This labeling is caused be the media before or during the trial and the defense uses it to get the persons case reduced from death, but if these people were really a "vampire killer" then the legal system would be congradulating them instead of convicting them. Also if you want to label anyone that has a facination of blood as a "vampire", then remind me to stop going to my doctor. Most people in the medical field need to has some facination with blood. if not they are in the wrong profession.
i think some people use this as a way to get of going to jail and going to a looney bin.
i think that a killer is labeled a vampire if he ingestest the bllod of another
we vampires don't hAVe to kill our victoms..we can let them live only vampires who try to kill their human..is proably new to it and needs to be enlightened that we should not kill other
Peter Kurten labelled himself a vampire I believe, he certainly liked to drink the blood of his victims, all the others are similar as far as I know.
Apaert from that, the media uses it to sensationalise the killings, but they are just really nutters.
But yes, I believe it makes them vampires. Not in the mystical sense but in the actual sense that ingesting blood or playing in it makes one a vampire as one has a bloodlust for it.
Just my own thoughts...
i think vampire that kill human are trying to give the real vampires a bad name.
Well said, or as Lord Byron put it:
Lycanthropy
I comprehend, for without transformation
Men become wolves on any slight occasion
That is what I was thinking as well. I thought that was considered cannabalism too.
i feel that if someone deliberatly kills and drinks maybe they are just sychos... dont really think theyd do it for to give vampires a bad name....
i feel that if someone deliberatly kills and drinks maybe they are just sychos... dont really think theyd do it for to give vampires a bad name....
well, you can claim to be a vampire but that does not make it so. like some of the other members said, they might have used it as an excuse to stay out of the crazy house. who knows? maybe they were truly vampires who did not abide the sanguinarian laws. maybe they were just psychos. who knows?
many of the culture relate vampire killings to the use of blood or the mayham in the killing. yet i feel that this is a ploy on the part of the killer to transform the killing into insanity plea. to be locked away instead of the death punishment. a bad rapp for the society and members who are set in this. bad media played out to fit society
Well the truth is that if you claim to be a vampire and believe it, the state does think you're insane or living a healthy fantasy life. That doesn't mean the state is right, but if a living vampire were to commit an act like murder and drink some of the blood, claiming to be a vampire would have the press all over it and the state would ASSUME that the person is either looking for an insanity plea (faking) or literally insane.
So that means the state says ALL vampire claims are faking or insane. If you agree that EVERY vampire killer is faking or insane, than you appear to be closer to the states beliefs than your own.
lol Daer i agree with you *smile* lol
i think most use it to get out of jail...and then the press loves to get a hold of anything diff and run with it....
*sigh* it gets tiresome everytime some looney goes out and does something stupid then a whole society gets blamed for it just b/c they are diff....
one group of vampire killers that i know is the knights templar
Actually it would help 'the cause' immensely if the vampire society didn't suggest that anyone who acts inappropriately as a vampire is faking it or nuts.
Some acknowledgment that vampires like any human, could go crazy would do a lot to support the acceptance of living vampires as a possible reality. But if the vampire society itself suggests that anyone of negative publicity is a faker, then the rest of the world will assume that all living vampires are fakers who each would be similarly marginalized as crazy by their own 'kin' should they do anything inappropriate.
hmm Knights of Templar were not vampire killers......
if you look at the Coven of Templar Knights it gives you a history on them *smile*
Another case of the overlap between fantasy and reality...VtM has a 'history' of Templar elite vampire hunters.
hmmm.. that's interesting. It would seem like by calling them vampire killers that they are being justified.
Cops will call people what they call themselves. For example, the zodiac killer was referred to as such because that is what he called himself. Some of these killers called themselves vampires. Cops will also label them vampires if they ingested blood. It is also used as an excuse to claim insanity. Lastly, the media will do anything to increase ratings and if there is ingestion of blood involved, they will be the first ones to call them vampires.
look toward the bottom at felixfelix...he does state a good point
After reading over everyone's thoughts, I find it odd that the labeling of vampire is even used. People have said for centuries that vampires do not exist and are made up mythical creatures, just like the unicorn. If these creatures arer not real, then why do the police call these lunatics vampires. If something is not supposed to exist, then why call it that. The media and the police are just as nutty as the rest.
The above mentioned people were very different in their times and cultures. They all had their own beliefs about blood and vampirism. Why in the world would bathing in blood make you look younger?
I still don't understand all the labeling? Is our society that bored, that we must put a label on everything that happens? Just so that we can feel better at night and get some rest? We have put a label on it, whatever that IT might be, so now it is all good.
I think society as a whole is to blame.
I would not call them vampire killers, it`s just the media who made a biiiiiggg story about them and like always pushed it, that puts us back a 1000 years, the media with its story telling destroys our whole reputition
personally I think it's the media trying to sell mags and the people accsused will say anything to get off as being mad.
You know temptation, this was a fascinating topic i had to copy/past that list so i could do some research on it!
A perfect example of this if you watched "Vampire Clan" it's based on one. I remember watching the news about it when I was younger. But I know it's not only one, there's more, it's more like those that are under the practice of vampyrism.
To be labeled a vampire killer a killer would have to injest the blood of their victims, and i do not think killers are ruining the vampire lifestyle, society does that for them...
It's so convenient to get attention by yelling FIRE because people are so desensitized by events. It's sexier to say VAMPIRE AT LARGE rather than LUNATIC LOVES BLOOD.
Alibis seem to become more and more fantastical in hopes of creating enough doubt in the creator's mental state to get them off the hook. But doesn't that seem cliche in itself?
"Vampire Clan" was based on the Ferrell case. A poor retelling from what I pieced together from news and biographies. But the trouble with that is the fact Rodrick Ferrell believed so much that he was the character he played that when he murdered, he thought he was above the law.
I am not going to drop my view on if I think he was just insane or otherwise. I wasn't there, I only know what I read in the news.
wow...i learned more in like the 10 minutes it took me to read all this...then i did in school last year lol
i don't like vampire killers cuz they would kill me T_T
I think that there may be many factors that involve this classification. My guesses are:
1: People drink the blood of thier victims
2: They are also serial killers
3: They probably have certain trademarks that they either take with them or leave behind at the scene of the crime.
Very interesting indeed. I'm going to have to look into this.
PhewwwI read all and, I must say..
I Drink Blood From my donor every day , see tis like this Music ppl get bad name when kids say I did it becae the song say so,
now this I did it for I am a vamp and that is what a Vamp does NONONIO that is What Hollowood Done to us that Drink it for Reall
Police are trying to explain the unexplained or cause controversy, they have nothing better to do.
I have to agree with TAG...
yesterday my dad wouldnt let me buy the newest cd from Red Hot Chili Peppers because they're hit song "californication" has the word "fornication" in it. that is considered "labeling" like everyone has said.
just because these killers have said they were vampires doesnt mean that everyone that considers themselves vampires are all going to go out and kill someone to drink their blood. personally i think these killers needed to tell the police something...
in my mind lilith is the first vampier and mother to us all as far as the others yes a few were blood drinkers as far as vampier i guess we will never know. to thoes whow wish to kill us or use what we are as a reasion to hunt us i say bring it on!! i am sure they will have a good time at the funny farm
well, when vampire kill it's for sustenance.
we kill cows.. and junk
why can't they kill us.
and I say this from the human point of view.
I'm willing to bet most of those people where just people not vampires. I mean there are people that claim to be werewolves or vampires, but as someone else said it doesnt make them one. Media probably had a big part in that too... hmm now I'm interested... ^.^
~Silver
another rampant case of labeling gone crazy......im betting most of these "killers" had horrible mental illness rather then being part of this community of blood drinkers....
Several on your list were among the arch fiends of all time. Peter Kurten and Fritz Harmon both had life long blood obcessions. The police do tend to sensationalize these things for there own publicity.
The vampire killers mostly get that name from either their own claims to being a vampire or a sensational news media looking for sexy ways to sell a story.
In My opinion, vampirism is no excuse for murdering somebody.
Even if you are a vampire, surely you could execute your needs and fetishes consensually and whilst remaining in control of yourself?
Does anybody disagree with that statement?
No I don't Disagree.
What countries were these "vampire killings" taking place?
It could have something to do with their beliefs? Laws? Which is why they were seen as heroic
I think that any lable a "normal" person can put on anyone out of the norm, it helps them. Makes them feel better. If they see blood it's easier to say they were vampires than to think there are people that could just randomly kill...
I think the cops do it just to put the blame on somebody and get it over with.
Just trying to place the blame on someone to get the troublesome investigation over with, added with a bit of spice to recognizes the heroic duty of the policemen.
And that is true about you could say you are something but its just what that person say, hard cold fasts and evidence are needed to prove that statement.
