My question to the forum concerns diversity of personal Spiritual pathways.
What drew you to the road you now travel ?
Do you intend to explore other paths ?
wow well as a child i was always interested in teh darker half of things not so much as harm or evil just darker things which i shun for a long time them came upon a book that called to me and i had to open it it was on fourtune telling and inside was palm readings tarot cards reading and tea leaves which is what got be to buy the book since i remember my grandma teaching me tea leave reading as a child but she past when i was 11 and i didnt retain it all as i grew my skills in reading things grew and so did my sences and they continue to do so.
A wicca teacher came to me, and there was a path I walked. Then a Buddah teacher came to me and I seen where the two could entertwined. Since I live in such a closed minded town, the only place I felt at home to go was a Spiritualist church. There I learnt really develop meditation skills, learning about the properties of gems, and so much more. Doors become open when your spirituality heightens.
My life's experiences have put me on the path that I am on right now. I don't believe that a path is chosen for us, we all choose our own paths due to certain things that happen to us in our lives.
Many of us will change paths more than once in our lives because of certain circumstances that come up. I, myself, like to explore different possibilities all the time, so my path will change slightly sometimes.
i have to agree with that too... we choose what we want to live, follow, etc.
In this moment, i'm very into the occult, magic and learning some protection spells... i'm also letting go my dark half... i also need to know myself completely...
Well I think the things that I have experienced in life wether they were positive or negavtive, have made me who I am today, so in a way I would say that they have caused me to choose the path that I am on now.
Ultimately I consider it the road to Ascension, to greater understanding and immortality of the self. There are many routes to get there. I was a Jedi for years in my teens. (I joke about it, but it was the only thing that did not confilct with my parents' very conservative relious views at the time.) I spent about 3 years under the mentorship of a shaman. I did lots of correspondence studies with the Druids. I went to "school" to attain master level Degrees in traditional Witchcraft. And in with all this I have been pursuing peronal research and study of whatever seems appropriate at the time--anything from Atlantis, to necromancy, to hoodoo. Most recently I have found myself looking into vampiric spiritual traditions as group organizations, as opposed to simply going it alon in that regard.
I say all of this to make the point that one should never stop learning. There is no One True Way! If you gain something from it then it is valid for you. No matter how much your friends laugh at you when you talk about the Force.
I have sought my answers amungst the modern and ancient world. My only result, I must walk the path to find my own. So what I learn, what I experience I use to develop my nature. Changing and adapting, my initiations completed, I wander where the wind takes me. and use my power accordingly.
The path that I walk was the one that called to me, I did not chose my path
I did try 'other' paths in my late teens/early 20's such as Paganism and Spiritualism but always felt something was missing.
It was only when I settled on the left hand path and become a Satanist did I feel complete and that I had found my for want of a better word 'calling'
My path is still unknown, for the road I travel is yet unexplored. I follow where my soul may lead and that is the way I am to travel. My spirtuality and beliefs are what I have gained along the way.
The path in life is the one you set foot on the day you are born. There are forks and your decisions make the choice of which to take..but the path never ends and you cannot simply step off the path and onto another. I do not feel that that is how life is laid out.
A dark chapter in my life has led me to where I am now. Whether I chose it or it was meant to be, I can't answer that.
The path i am on now is the right one for me at this time, but anything can change in the future, when i chose my way of life, i did it because it was right for me and i felt comfortable with it...
My own personal feeling's, friend's, etc. But my path has only just begun I have long way to go to be right were I wanna be.
Ironically VR is partially responsible for the path I walk now. I knew I was unsatisfied with the path I was raised to follow...always felt that way, but didn't know what else was out there.
In talking with some people here, I learned how much more was out there. I've built what I feel is a solid foundation, but the direction of my path is changing and evolving daily.
I agree with MistressMoonlight..The path i am taking now is my destiny, the one that has been calling out to me and it soothes me to know I have found the very One to show me the way..I am happy in my choice and will follow it with honor and respect
The path I walk is one of my own I won't be swayed or falter on my way.
Two years ago I went to get a psychic reading from a true mystic. He said that I would find a spiritual man who would lead me to happiness and success and I would know who he was the moment I met him. I met him in April and I am now apart of his family.
I do not believe in Destiny or Fate. I think our paths constantly change due to our decisions we make each day. Do you choose to do good, bad or nothing. I firmly believe you reap what you sow and that you make your own bed and better lie in it. I realized after a long time my days repeated themselves endlessly, same routines, same goals etc. Now I just try to motivate myself into doing things for me and my own. Whether some decisions will be ill advised I am my own god.
I believe that in life there are many paths for us to take its just getting on the right path for us and once we are on that path seeing where it leads us and if it will lead us to anyone or something thats ment to happen in our life. Just got to walk the path and see wot happen. I am on the right path and its taken me to my other half and im very happy on this path.
the path i now travel i choose for my son as much as for me. i hope to lead the way for him so that he may avoid the traps and pitfalls i stumbled and fell into. i know he will find his own in life but the ones i know of he may be able to walk around.
My path now..that of a student/seeker..was born of an upbringing where I was told "no" and "that's bad" to my questions about the dark side..so naturally I wanted to know more..hence searching, questioning, learning..which leads on to new paths, unexplored roads.
Life is a cycle of new experiences.
I don't follow any perticular path. I merely follow the path in which life is based from. My thoughts and emotions come in to what experiences I may have. Although I do have my own beliefs upon the universe, I don't believe there is one way to life or spirituality.
If I was to change paths then this would be because it is what the universe intended for me. I guess I just follow the flow of life. ^_^
I have lived differently 2 years ago. Until VR came into my life. I am happier now.
I find a little something from all the paths, I then examine, experiment, bind, pull apart reverse and throw away what doesn’t work…………
Im a chaos magic user, mines not a path but a rather interesting pattern of life
lavisbre > would you not say that in order first to create your patern, you must travel many paths ?
Finding your path is an experience that is different for all people. I found my path through searching. And, I am realistic enough to know that my path can change. Life is a constant learning process.
I chose the path I'm on because I'm insane and believe things that I see even though it might have been hallucination or trick of the light, somehow. Anyway, I went to a Catholic mass to be polite to a friend of mine, and I saw the cup glow during the blessing of the sacraments.
I've explored several paths before becoming Catholic, and while I disagree with many of the Church's teachings, I feel it's my home.
My awakening and that of my awakener lead to the path I take now.But I still choose it, I believe one can only be happy if it that person's own free choice. I choose left-handed magicks and beliefs. It is who I am on inside, but I try to temper the darker magicks and beliefs with a gentler person on the outside.I believe there can be a ballance of both.
Theres many paths to choose from and desting will lead you to one good or bad. I travel where ever my black lil heart takes me =] lol There never a right or left or forward or bakk but much more than that. You choose your path
I believe:
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I am suposed to have 2 more teachers before my awakening.
It is only when it is dark that we see the stars. So when things get dark, I look for the teacher; or rather I start listening to what was being said.
Sometimes that can be a difficult question, like which came first, chicken or the egg. The path I started on from birth is a path shown to me by from family in a loving manner. I was also taught to choose my own path though, which I commend my father for. Nothing was ever forced on me. I have veered from this path a few times and it was always a learning experience. I found that the path I first was on is really the one I want. Some misunderstand it, but then I think that’s with anything that someone is not truly educated on. Sure there are some bumps on this path, but that is a given on any life’s adventures. It’s given me so much and I plan to keep heading forward and not veering off.
different things happen not that it makes you go down a particulare path but it points the way you as a person need to go.
I have traveled many roads... but I wouldn't necessarily say I have had several belief-systems. I study them all- I am interested in everyone. For me- I have always gone back to the Judeo-Christian God. Even when I strayed onto other things- those things were viewed through the lens of a Christian. And if you are following that road correctly- you will accept everyone else with open arms.
Why? Because it feels right to me. There's no stronger reason.
if it feels right...do it...unless its a bad crime then no.
I just drifted onto my path.. or rather, I created it myself.
Throughout my life I've had epiphanies and made conclusions which have changed me and the path I go by.
Everything done or thought affects the path even if you dont' realize. THe path is whatever you do or believe.
i really got in to it cause my best friend but know i have growen and every thing
ashley25 > so now you've grown, which way will you go now ?
What if anything draws you to it ?
Or do you feel that you drift, until something else comes your way ?
I pretty much happend to be born into a family where they tought you the ancient wiccan ways i didnt know it at the time but as i grew older i figured out that was their intention not making me do it just learning simple things as a child as a teen i also learned more and more stuff both from mom and grandma now as an adult i understand and am happy that i was tought their old family ways wich is the path i choose to follow today
When I was a child,I had an obsessive dream.I was climbing some circular stair becoming more and more scanty. But I was still climbing,no matter what. And that's because I had to find something difficult to reach, almost impossible. But I really wanted to reach the top.I never knew what was at the end of the stair. But some years later I understood that my path is to seek knowledge.Maybe my dream was just a foolish child's imagination, but now I really know which is my path.
I did alot of soul searching and researched every religion I could find or think of the path of druidry called to me and I have followed it since I do have a dual religion now... but that is another story for another day
I don't really know what has drawn me to this life. I've always liked the life I live. I'm adventerous so I do plan on traveling different paths. I tend to change ways a lot.
I dont really follow any path, but my cuzin worships the Goddess Eris (of chaos) and sometimes she performs ritual like things with me. casting circles and simple stuff. I like doing those things, but dont do them by myself.
I follow the ways of the Green Witch... It called to me, and I don't need to look anywhere else. Sometimes when you find your way. You just know where you belong.
I have personally always followed my own path. I will continue down this path for 3 more year, for that is as far as I have planned. I believe I will experience many different walks of life
XoXelizabethXoX,
There is nothing wrong with that. It is always best to follow what calls to you. Even if that means following an eclectic path that teaches you many varied things, as long as it feels right to YOU as an individual.
I don't really follow a set path. I go where the wind blows me. My gut tells me what to do and when I follow it, I never have regrets. It's only when I don't listen to it, that things go horribly wrong. My path is always evolving and changing directions as events occur that change and shape me and my future.
as you go through life...your gonna come across a couple different paths and ure gonna want to explore
As life goes on will all exprenice differnt paths. the path i now take is what destiny picked for me, and i just got to walk it.
In reply to Carvall … not paths patterns.
When you look at a tree what do you see……..
I see a tragic struggle erupting from the crawling soil, a life form drinking the suns energy in a titanic way, I see gravity shaping the pattern of a tree whose image is the same as above so is below pur chaos in motion, twisting and crooked branches a slow fight for this thirst of life and survival….
Some just see a tree and follow a path…
I follow my own path and that is just to create as little harm to the earth and to those whose paths I cross in the course of my lifetime. I believe the life we live now will effect our future lives, each life should be spent learning and growing.
lavisbre
Thanks for coming back with an answer.
I understand what you say, but disagree, but that's fine diversity rocks lol
I've looked into different religions, but the ones i like the most are wiccan, buddhism & Paganism
Dam, posted it befor ei was meant to.....i leaned towards these most because:
Buddhism is like a reawaking for the soul..you open your eyes to so much more but its not pinned to one god...there have been and will be many buddhas...but its a teaching of life...chanting & relaxation of the soul & inner spirit!
Wiccan is loving & connecting to nature, its very spiritual & calming....relaxing & rewarding..its not only spiritual but also magical!...i praise the Goddess hekate (hecate as some will spell it)
Paganism is simular religion to wiccan but, There are hundreds of different Pagan Religions. Some of the best known Pagan religions are Buddhism, Shintoism, Native American Religions, Hinduism, Taoism, Wicca, Druidism, Asatru, Shamanism, Neo-Paganism and Eclectic Paganism
I dont believe there are 'paths' in the sense you refer.
You get given a life, and you make choices.
The 'life' is the journey.
SamOfTheVamps
Interesting that you feel able to blend beliefs without conflict.
Does anyone else have this kind of system ?
I myself am an eclectic witch... I follow where I am lead by the Lord and Lady...
A kind of pick and mix of the Spiritual kind...I love that.
I would also like to add, since i am a believer in reincarnation, i think i will probably exsperience a lot of different paths along the way, but i also believe that if your a dark person in nature you will alway reincarnate into what you were but just a little diffrent, or atleast i hope so...
I think are paths are chosen for us. You can't change who you are. I wear black . I love heavy metal. Sure I can change what I wear but that doesnt change a thing.
Same goes for your path. It's already laid out in front of you. How you walk it is up to you
1. I killed a lot of people in Nam
2. Excessive drug use
3. Prison
4. Being a black man
Not in that order
The path that I follow has everything to do with my children. I follow a path of knowledge to help to lead them to the decisions that they will make and the paths that they wish to follow. This path for me is coming to an end soon. I look to the future to find many paths that lay ahead of me and I am very excited so see what time brings.
CountMolestor > ...and after those experiences.....which path do you follow now ?
I have yet to choose a path..and knowing me when i choose one i will not stick with it..i am the type of person who likes to test the waters every where...i live like the grass is always greener on the other side and when i have tried other paths if i remember likeing one expecailly i will go back
As a very eclectic pagan I have just found that following my own instincts and thoughts on religion have been right. What I always believed for me turned out to be a quasi-organized religion.
I was raised Roman Catholic, but began questioning what it ment to belong to the "correct" religion and worship God in "the right way" very early in my spiritual education. I began to attend other christian churches and realized soon after, that while "Christians" often had something against the "Sunday Morning Catholic Church Goers" and the "Catholics" had something against the "Weekly Bible Thumping Christians", it was all the same thing. The beliefs were the same, the name was different. So I began to discover other alternative religions and found one that suited my independently formed beliefs in Wicca. I know worship God in my own way and on my own- and no one from my "church" faults me for being what I am.
I take the path that appears before me, you can't live a productive & meaningful life constantly worrying if you are gonna take the wrong path or make the wrong decisions...
Oh yes ! Life is an open book...turning the pages as one goes on....to do anything less is certin death of soul and spirit.
i really do not follow a certain
path ( yet ) why... because i am confused with what i want i want to make sure i feel comfortable with what i choose to fallow
I am currently not in to one particular spiritual pathway, I suppose I haven't discovered what is right for me. I am always gathering information about other paths and different ideas and beliefs.
I do not follow any set path for you see I draw from all paths and I walk among all of them as well.. I draw from my christian upbringing and my wiccan past I draw from the darker side of life as well as the light that is out there in this world.. I feel that in order to grow spiritually one must open their mind to all things and find a common ground in order to grow into what and who and where you should be..
i am not set on any one path yet. i am looking at all paths. and finding the one that suits me best.
I didn't choose my path. It chose me. I wasted too much time trying to find a path that suited me, and when I stopped looking, it came to me. I've walked it ever since and haven't looked back.
I do study other paths and traditions to understand them and educate myself. I'm rather eclectic, so sometimes I incorporate parts of rituals from other paths into my own. This is something that just works for me.
i think some times that sounds to me the best way to go and let the path choose you. i am looking at all paths myself. i do not know enough yet to know which to do....lol it chooses me or i choose it.
i do know i will learn it the better i know about the paths that is out there.
I think it's important to remember to leave yourself open rather than forcing yourself into something.
I'm trying to explain this to my son. He's having a hard time deciding which path to take, and seems to be trying to force himself into one. It's something I highly discourage because it's been my experience that it leads to unhappiness.
i dont really pick my path i just go with what i go with
Well...I've seen a lot and been through a lot. Every person's experiences shape the way that person is, and where they walk. The path I am on now...I really don't know at the moment, but I'm working on it.
i am a vampier i beleve in lillith and i am gothic as far as why that is between me and lillith
I was raised a Christian. I was excommunicated and I was feeling like I had no god. While I was a Christian I on the side was studying WIcca. So when the time of excummnication arrived I knew how to feal up that emptyness of spirituality.
what path are you on?
is it the right path?
will you stay on that path forever?
I suppose I have always headed in this direction, but the death of my father gave me the push I needed to travel the path I now walk
I am on the only path I know. until recently I never even considered what that might even mean. I guess what spurs me onward still is a need to be different from what I see around me, which I find to be pointless. Lastly as to why, I am only doing what feels so right to me.
I like to look back over my life and see where I screwed up on the path … I now look forward and make sure I don’t repeat those mistakes as I carefully place down my path to walk on.
I think I would like try all paths until I find the right one.
I believe that we all walk paths that we chose for ourselves...whether they be good or bad experiences...they all lead you to the one that will be in your life forever, it is a matter of whether you chose to take that particular road to that particular place.
Right now, I am on a path that has lead me to the one...I just need to find another path that leads me closer and closer...while I am looking for that path, I will be growing, and learning and expanding my experiences and learning to be who I am.
I think that our paths should include bits of every trail. For instance, instead of choosing a single religion, I think that we should explore and put together what we feel is right for us. I feel that a spiritual path is important in anyone's life, and that the life of spirit is half of living. I think that our spirituality should be flexible, beneficial to both ourselves and to the rest of the worlds; both spiritual and physical. I think that it should bring us contentment and peace of mind. I think it should be something that we feel motivated to practice, and not a simple ritual that feels like a chore. I think that our spirituality is just, if not more important, than anything else we do in our lives.
I don't follow anything to the letter, although the 'spirituality' I relate most to is that of Wicca. I think this has a lot to do with how I was raised by my mother (as a Wiccan). My ideas on God are a bit abstract, but referring to God as both a "Goddess" and a "God" seems to make the most sense to me. That said, when I pray, I tend to pray to the Goddess.
That's not to say that I haven't dabbled in other religious ideologies or spiritualities. I know some people here are going to think this is lame, but the only 'major' thing that prevents me from being a Christian is accepting Jesus as the Christ. I think we all possess "God" within us, and that he was a man who was more than likely persecuted for his political ideology than anything else (I could elaborate more, but this isn't the place). I think his preachings about love and treatment of one's fellow man are certainly on the right track, although I don't agree with absolutely everything.
I have been told that I also exhibit Taoist ideologies by several people. The most notable is my insistence of focusing on common traits in conflicts rather than differences (for instance - we might have Theistic Satanists, Christians, Atheists, Wiccans, etc. on VR, but we're all here because we enjoy the experience, etc.). I have also been compared to Muslims in my thought that humans will never be able to accurately envision the 'face' of God per se, and that attempts to do so are an example of extreme human audacity. I feel this way more because God is up to individual interpretation - there wouldn't be so many religious and spiritual ideologies if this wasn't the case IMO.
In summation - I try to follow a path that is both good for me and helps me have some sort of positive impact on the world.
