It is often said that some of us have gaurdian angels helping us along the way to guide us through this life...............If this is the case it could be possible to have a fallen angel/devil guiding us too?
To guide us on the right or wrong path.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this and if anyone has one guiding them?

I'm not really sure Madam U but I guess that it could be possible and I look forward to seeing everyones opinion on this thread.

One I haven't really given much thought. Whereas... a lot of us do consider us being guided.. One would think there Could be scope for an 'enemy' to ill-guide.
I mean, not all of us are always good!

I would say when it comes to making decisions... We can go either way... those choices We can be influenced BY our guides..
We can all make decisions for bad or for good. I also feel we could banish an enemy-guide, by only progressing, uplifting and envoking the good Guide.

These are just some thoughts... I am still learning about guides and my spirituality.. but nontheless, this thread is really interesting and It's be interesting to see what the more practised spirituals, say.

I believe that we do have 'guardians' with us throughout our 'mortal' lives....but at the end of the day as Sentient beings we possess the power of 'Free will' so at the end of the day we have the choice and final decision as to whether we listen to the advice of these 'guardians' be it for good or bad.

Yes Gothicdemon, maybe the good and the bad are with, but as you say its up to us who..if any, we listen to.

Free will is what I believe in...
Perhaps there are little voices on your shoulder that can sometimes prevent you from making mistakes in life, but I'd rather think of that as either intuition... or common sense.

I prefer believing that we're our lives own guides, and whatever path we choose has been chosen by us... I don't like the idea of being lead by something or someone...
I want to be my own person, make my own choices, my own mistakes, and learn by myself... :)

I don't know about on the shoulder, but I have had God and the devil or good and evil fighting inside of me for years. I just wish one of them would hurry up and win!

Even though some of us may have a guardian angel following us around, most could possibly call it their conscience.. and even that most of us don' t listen to very often.. as for the idea that the angel is there to keep us safe, that is for the theologians

There's Spirit Guides, but I assure you no devil or celestrial is guiding you unless by any other intent from the higher powers. Minions don't do such things usually everything is left up to the fates and the fate you choose.

We have several spirit guides, and angels. As Adora said we have our own free will, and many times we don't listen to that little inner voice within ourselves.

I personally do not believe that people have guardian angels helping them out i mean if people did their would be less misery in the world...

you would think so wouldnt you, if you look at anything you will always see the positive and a balancing negative so you probably do have both, although if you end up talking to your shoulders that could be worrying, but definately some kind of good and evil

A guardian angel, in my opinion, is just that, a guardian. They will protect when necessary, look out for you etc., but not make a decision of right or wrong. There is what is called "free will". You make have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on another, but it is basically your decision which path you will follow. Although I feel that in a person's heart, again they do know the correct path/decision to follow/make, and yet again there is free will involved. Aren't the greatest most unique animals?

i my mind we have many gides but as far as thoes who would advise the wrong path i have yet to come across such ting what may be vewed as incorrect today may save us tommrow

But I think also that the idea of that of what you seen in cartoons and stuff was like the angel was guiding you but the devil was deciving you to do something bad. You know what I mean? Its a christian sorta view, not something I really believe in.

The Devil can and does command. Sometimes the power of temptation is simply to much to resisit.

I never looked at it like that but it does make sense....We all have free will and can make our minds up to do good or evil.

our guardiaans are always there, it is what we wish to choose as the path we shall take in life. As the ol pun says " by the devils right hand". our path is uncertain and the choices we make shall set our path in the way the outcome is.

You know what's oddly amusing about this... last night two of my friends were encouraging my daughter to do opposite things and I made a comment about them being the devil and angel on her shoulders.

Well if one third fell and two thirds are the messengers etc, I'd have to say no. I really don't even think each of us has a guardian angel unless some special circumstance warrants it. A prayer for protection or some need. You figure that there are, what, like how many billions of people on earth. That is a crapload of angels all bumping into one another.

Guys, gals, we all want to think that we are special. No problem but this: If everyone is special then no one is...

Well, i believe that you pick which one guides u along. But at moments i think its just us wishing there was someone or somthing making us go in the direction we're taking.

With the belief that there is a equal balance to each aspect of ones life, there is most assuredly the possibility of an Angel on one shoulder and a Devil on the other.

Well that would certainly be 'cooler' wouldn't it?

However, if we're looking at the idea of devils or fallen angels for their accepted and defined purpose, they wouldn't really be guiding you or protecting you so much as misleading you and getting you into trouble? That's supposed to be their 'job' anyway isn't it? Either way, I tend to look at these as religious metaphor or literary characterizations.

I wouldn't say that I have an angel sitting on one shoulder, and a devil sitting on the other guiding my decisions. I have my own conscience to do that. If I'm not willing to accept the consequences of my actions, then I usually don't act upon them.

I personally think it's got more to do with Common Sense and Intuition than anything else. However i'm divided on the issue. :/

While the idea of someone walking us through this life is easing, it is certainly not realistic. We have free will, after all.

I do, however, find it interesting as to how you titled this thread. Devil on the left; Angel on the right as though it were you're right hand man, most trusted. Yet on the flip side, temptation is there. I know some one who had an angel tattooed on his left shoulder and a devil on his right, needless to say he's not a nice guy.

It is possible. Because not all fallens are evil or bad. They learn their lesson but God doesn't feal that they deserve a place in heaven.

If you believe in angels and believe in God as an omnipotent being, then believing that God hasn't forgiven them would imply that he knows more about the situation that you do. Therefore, it would still be unwise to trust a 'fallen angel'. If you prefer the idea of a literary 'fallen angel' the repentant villain tortured by his/her fall from grace, it makes for a fantastic story, but falls short of defined beliefs.

Still, and this is the kicker to all questions in the end, if you want to believe that a fallen angel offers you sound advice and protection from harm, it would in fact be entirely within your prerogative to do so. That's the fun of belief and faith. It's rather personalized.

I am not sure of what I believe in...but I have always been interested in the thought of an angel guiding us on the path of life, and the thought of a fallen angel guiding us, is even more intriguing to me. I would think that a fallen angels mind would be confused and dark and that it would make all of the wrong decisions, I don't know I just find this subject very interesting.

I tend to think that if this were in fact a reality, everyone's guardian angels would have lost their voices already from shouting and never being listened to.

I believe there are forces we cant see or feel tht oversee our lives .But i dont believe they help us choose right or wrong good or evil.

It would be very convienent to blame all my indiscretions on a guardian devil. I don't see why there would be a good guardian angel without a counterpart.

I will admit the image fo the "evil" and the "angel" each on their sides of my neck and fighting on each sides for my attention..is pretty good and funny in a way, but indeed at times its almost like its like that, this little voice that changes on if it tells you to do this or that, it seems to change, kind of like indeed a guardian is watching and helping..to ether do good..or bad.

Of course, maybe the little voices are nothing supernatural or relgious at all. Perhaps it is just our conscience relating both sides of the coin to any moral predicament.

I belive we have both but the bad out ways the good lol Its the person ahnd there feelings that they are feeling at the time to either do good or bad .

i think have that. one minute im am thinking all kinds of evil stuff then the next minute its like naw i ain't doing that.

I honestly believe that it is just a matter of choosing between right or wrong. Sometimes the choise is harder than you think, b/c it's not as simple as remembering left and right. Insdead a matter of personal prefrence.

Well of course everyone has good and evil in them, we wouldn't be balanced otherwise. I would view a person as gray matter though, simply because we are a big mesh of "good and evil." Without that balance all we would have are a bunch of Mother Theresa's and Oklahoma City Bombers.

We do have Spirit Guides and Guardian Angles . I have both , they dont make the decisions for you but they do show you a path to take . It is up to you on which path to take , be it good or bad thats where free will comes into place.

My belief is that Satan will send anything to try to tempt you or encourage you negatively. It is up to you to know better.

psychologists call it the shadow. our darker self, the Mr Hyde within us all that is driven by base desires, selfishness, greed, hatred, anger, and other negative motives and emotions.

The devil tempts us but as humans we have the abiltity to know the difference between right and wrong so ultimately we make the final choice in our decisions.

that's just excuses. we have free will - we have intelligence. if we do bad things it is because we have given into our baser instincts, if we do good things it is because we have chosen to take the nobler option. all this blaming it all on the devil tempting us and such is like the weaklings who blame their misdeeds on their parents not letting them have their own way when they were little. it's an excuse because weak people do not want to accept responsibility for their own actions. stop looking for scapegoats.

Its possible but like the person above me stated everyone has free will and i think that is more believeable to say then angels on ur shoulder and such..people kno what they r doing..even if they might not kno it all the time..we all have a pretty good outlook on our own

Well if that is the case the devil is with me all the time. I dont care what anyone thinks of me and if they dont like or try to hurt me I will f**k them up 100%. Because that is me. Hate me or not. So I think I dont have a good or bad side. I am right in the middle with the devil and the good angle. But that is just me.

That is your choice. You have to choose God or satan. It's free will.

I got both and somethime's i listen to the angel and other time's i listen to the devil.

I think that maybe you cant have one without the other.

It's wrong vs right. What do you really want to do vs. what you should do.

I believe just about anything is possible. I am sure there are things whether you can them angels, spirits, demons or just plain bad choices that help determine our life and what we do.

Right off anything is possible. I have met some people that seemed like someone is looking over them. Because they are always in to something. But the way I look at it comes down to Choices. Angel could be good and devil being bad. So thats how I see it.

I dont believe in Guardian Angels, or Devils guiding us. I believe the choices we make are our own, nobody can make us do what we do, say what we say...

I agree with Nikolai. Your choices are your own, and I think Angels and Demons are a quaint yet convenient way of blaming this on another being.

As we have said, these Angels and Devils are GUIDES, no matter if the are fallen or not. We should still know the difference between, right and wrong, good and bad, angel and devil.......

I agree but we dont always listen to our gut instinct so..i know i have guardian angels watching over me even though i am following the left hand path..Just because i am satanist now doesnt mean i am all bad..btw very good thread

it's all possible. guardian angel. guardian devil. a relative that has passed on becomming your guardian. it's all apart of what you want to choose to believe.

The imagery of a lil devil and angel dualing it on my shoulders is a good laugh. If my soul is to be won, that's exactly where the battle would be!

I believe that there are guardian angels helping to protect us but really, we make our own decisons--wheather it be the right one or the wrong.

We do make our own decisions, but some of us like to believe our decisions are inspiried by "good" and "evil" entities. That way if we screw up, we have someone to blame. Furthermore, it allows us to feel like were on the right track because our actions are divinely inspired.

It's called WILL, the ability to do "right" or "wrong" humans have will "angels" do not.

I think it's just a religion thing. If you spill salt you are supposed to throw it over your left shoulder to blind the devil, (at least, thats what my grandad and lots of members of my family say.)

that's a very interesting point Merodak. if Angels do not have free will, then how could they rebel? how could they do anything that god has not made them do? therefore god made satan rebel, and god makes satan evil. what does that make god?

The free will principle does not exclude this imaginary fight.
Some people have Magicians nature(they try to submit the world to their interior world), other have mystical nature(trying to melt in the universal harmony).It`s obvious that the first category will never believe in the influence of those beings over their actions.
The faith is a force and without this force the reality would not be cognoscible.
The thinking process is to judge between two (or many) posibilities...

'The Devil made me do it' is just an excuse, everyone one of us has free will plus a conscience combined with a healthy dose of greed, Envy, Lust etc The individual has to chose which side he/she is going to go with..Dark or Light, Good or Evil. Whatever the decision, the battle will never be over, after all, people will always have free will.

I completely agree with Twisted also. They may be there to guide you the right way...or they could even be there to trick you and see if you will go the right way. But you're still the one making the actual choice no matter what it is.

I do believve we have spirit guides, angels, guardians who are past family that try to help us along our path. I am a medium and I communicate quite a deal with the spirit world. My great-grandmother tries to guide me and sometimes goes so far as to inhabit my body to protect me. Other people have even felt her spirit pass through them as she is tyring to get to me.

But in the end, free will win out, the choice YOU make is what decides where your path will lead you.

I think the whole idea of an angel and a devil on your shoulder is just a way to put a physical description on your own conscience. Everyone must decide whether the things they are going to do are right or wrong and this is just a good way of describing that.

I believe we have some type of guardian who watches over us. Or at least I have had one watch over me because I have survived too many things that I shouldn't have. But as far as good choices or bad choices is there a good or evil helping us along in these choices. That I do not know. I believe every choice I make, I make on my own. Good or bad, I know the consequences and make my own decisions.

I believe we have guardian angels as well as spirit guides. The flip side of the coin I think is our own free will. We are our own worst enemy...

yes i think that is true. We are always in a constant battle, the light or the dark.

I have both actually, and know both quite well. I will not go into detail, that indepth could take a whole bloody page.

To clarify a bit more...Each of us when given the education of such esotaric knowledge, gain the adherance of a guardian angel, demon, spirit animal, mythic being, and Universal body. Thus making the pentac or star of the Soul.

I don't really believe in angels or devils as such. For me, every human has impulses to do both good and evil deeds. It is how we act upon these urges that determine the courses of action we take. I see the visualization of a winged and a horned creature as merely a way to visualize these tendencies each person possesses. :)

depends on which you listen to. I dont think you can see them sitting on either shoulder and talk with them but i do think that they are always there. and that in simple un-obvious ways, try to show you different paths to take.
