as I understand from some post to become a vampire you must be bitten and drink it’s blood.

Are we going with Lilith being the first vampire and was cursed rather than bitten? I am a bit shaky when it comes to some of the mythological aspects of vampires.

It goes without saying, who turned the first vampire? There must be some other way for a vampire to be created other than drinking the blood of another vampire.

I am under the conclusion that if one who is cursed bite, a portion of the curse transfers over to the party like a disease would. There are a few lingering bits of energies that behave in such a manner.

However it would be an interesting option. It is the domain of Uriel to pass the judgement on the soul in the judaic system. the Lillitu as the daevas could also do this.

To straighten loose ends, Lilith was not cursed nor bitten, she was created for Adams pleasure, then came Eve after Lilith gave Caine to Adam, Eve begot Abel.

Onto the curse or bitten topic, Caine was cursed, not as a vampire but to walk till the world ended in the land of Enoch. Caine was born the way he was, not cursed.

Caines children were bitten, and there for cursed...If you wish too call it that.

If you follow Catholicism, one can become curse into vampirism based on a closely guarded ritual. No, I am not talking about John Carpenter's Vampires either people, this is real life ritual. Which is why it is closely guarded.

Follow the geneology of Caine and you will see who the cursed are, compared to the bitten who apparently have no record, save for a few.

Cursing are in the blood, but in the geneology, passing through time from one generation to the next, the energy of the blood carries the curse. As the energy is the manifesation of the individuals soul. Again, another thread altogether.

As the children of Caine came through the generations, after the war of Gamorra and Sadam broke out, and the great flood hit the cities, half the generations were indeed lost. The families separated into the differant parts of the world, thus you have the differant "Clans". From Germany, all the way to Japan. From the America's, into Canada. As the years passes, the blood thinned. But the curse still remained.

To be bitten is a bit of Hollywood hooy. The real bite is a differant matter. And usually drains the biter almost completely, which is why it does not happen too often.

But the "Powers" from the bite do not come, but in little quantities, sometimes not at all, so the bite is technically useless. Which is why they are called thinblood.

I would think the only way that a person could become a vampire is to be bitten by a vampire, i do not think you could be cursed to be a vampire...

But what about psychic aka energy vampires?

As you say, the psi-vamps, they have learned to harness the auric energies to their own ends. Instead of feeding off the blood, which has the energies within it to begin with, they take it one step further, a bit smarter in my opinion. As they drain the energies from the aura, or soul. You would have to be very inept to be able to pull it off, most people do it by accident. If you are one of those that do it for reason, then you have come a long way into channeling energies. But yes, psi-vamps are natural - after the "Awakening" process, if one chooses not to bite or feed. But psi is another thread, it is after the curse has been cast. Just another way to feed.

well i heard of a voodoo curse that turns you but hell there are a 1001 storys about stuff like that

I am sure there is a voodun curse of that nature, I saw a movie based upon that allegation. I think the movie was called...Bitten.

I think the idea of being bitten in order to be turned is more romantic, but then again I think it is also possible to be cursed and turned, I am not really sure because I know I have always heard that you could be bitten and turned, but then again couldn't there be other ways of changing?

The cursed were the original,being bitten is the most common,but i like alot here believe we,re born,it takes an event to lead to the awakening,the lady who awakened me,i didnt drink from her,she scratched my neck and licked the wound with a slight amount of sucking aswell(on the wound).like snakes and spiders carry venom.i think the vampire carries something in the fangs.But i was always of nocturnal ilk.and the supernatural always held its sway.

bitten or cursed is not this the same, i love the earlier posts on this subject, but what still iludes me is the first vampire, i thought it was a curse from god. yet their is no other way, for if lilith was bitten than the mystery lies in the one before. vampires i believe did not evolve from the earth and created the first vamp.

i believe it works either way. i think curses are very psycho somatic. if you believe whole heartedly in curses, then you will be affected by them. i prefer the idea of becoming a vamp to be from biting but one can never be really sure.

Well the way I see it. Bitten is hollywood vampires. Cursed is the way of a true vampire. With all the reseach That I have found it is a curse from alot of things in life that can not be explained.

well I don't really know all I know is I was never bitten or drank the blood of a vampire befor I became one.

A curse is an interesting idea. Sort of like the common held Zombie ideas. Cursed undead Bites living and transferes the Curse.

The questions then stems another. If the curse is passed down the generational line. Does the curse than become a genetic disease? Or is the curse a genetic disease to begin with? And if so. Would a Bitten/ Turned victim then pass on its Curse to the rest of its Bloodline? And could such a Curse affect those in the Bloodline already born?

if u ask folks from romania they will tell u of a curse, brought on by death from suicide, i agree that if this happens u r indeed cursed thats y the catholic church doesnt do a ceremony of any kind if u commit suicide, so there is one way to look at it, there r of course many, but i think this one makes more sense,,,,,,,,,,b well

I think History has been to clouded for us to be able to look into our own past for such answers.

Seeing as I don't see how being bitten would make you crave blood...and I don't really believe that you can "curse" someone and have it actually work I doubt either is true. Just fiction.

The method of becoming a vampire varies depending on the cultural superstitions from which the vampire springs. Some are the results of a curse (i.e. being a suicide in Europe), others are the result of pacts with otherworldly entities (nothing springs to mind, but my brain's trying to push something I read about witches in certain African tribes forward).

It could very well be a combination of both. A curse or being bitten, there are refrences to both in various cultures.

I believe you can probably be cursed as a vampire, or have it brought upon you by magics...

Or you can go the Anne Rice way and say that the first vampire was posessed by a demon, although everybody knows that's fiction.

As there are many way of coming to the same conclusions on many subjects the question of bitten or cursed is asking about the creation and can others fallow the same streams but like all streams the paths and their beginnings are some how lost. So I could understand that both bitten and cursed would be the answer to this question. All men and beasts begin in different ways and the also develop their powers and abilities in different ways.

Well "cursed" implies that you don't have a choice, and moreso that it's against your will.

Since no one probably has ever seen a real vampire, then no one really knows what it takes to become a vampire, some people believe if you commit suicide you will become a vampire, until someone finds a real vampire, no one will ever know what it take to become one...

I can honestly say that being cursed was how the 1st vamp came to be for 1: I've done many hours worth the research. 2: I was cursed by one of the oldest vampires around. I was only cursed because I seriously pissed him way off.

There is more than one legend ascribed to turning into a vampire. Biting is the most common, but my no means only way.

It all a matter of perspective really. To be a vampire in the Hollywood sense, you have to be bitten, drink the vampire's blood yada yada yada.

Then there are those who are born with gifts which the person believes to be either a vampiric curse or a vampiric gift. The person themselves decides whether it is a positive or a negative thing for them.

Having limited psy-abilities, I would say it is a gift as I believe the positive aspect of it all. :)

Depends upon the folklore. There are no facts regarding Vampires. Nothing has been proven. There are so many different theories because there are different types of vampires from different regions and eras.

To a vampire, it would be irrelevant. To be bitten is to be cursed and you are cursed if you are bitten. Nothing else matters.

I think that if you are bitten then that vampire has currsed you, but that vampire was currsed by something unknown. It may be bad, it may be good, but either way you're currsed.

I always thought the original vampires came about due to their being cursed or have a form of doom placed upon them.

the first vampire was curesed by satan he was somehow satans first angel
the devil gave him wings so he could bring more evil in the midst of humanity and soon make earth hell

i consider it a gift

from what I have heard, one is born a vampire and therefore cursed. You are what you are at birth and there is no changing that. Those who are bitten and become vampires came about long ago when the victims of vampires would come back to the living after being pronounced dead. The reason for the victim's coming back was because they died an unnatural and "violent" death and therefore inherited the curse of the vampire until their soul could be reconciled and freed by releasing said soul from the curse of the vampire. I would like to live for eternity so that I could pass on the knowledge of ages to future generations and so on. I would appreciate no negative comments and such about this post for none no not of what I have endured and what i am enduring on a daily basis. Thank you for your consideration. Carpe Noctem

Vlad Tepes who was supposed to be the first vampire, was 'cursed' this way for acting out against god in such an unholy way. Not completely sure of the full story but perhaps it started with a curse and was then spread through biting.

As far as bitten or cursed, it could be either one or something else. Something would have to change the internal energies of the "infected". A bite could be an actual bite with teeth, a scratch, a draining of the energy to a nearly drained extent, etc.

There are way too many unknowns to really know. But depending on the person, it could be a "gift" or a "curse", it would depend on the individuals view of it.

once again I believe you are born with a vampiric soul wish gives you your vampiric nature, if you want to call it being cursed go right ahead
