This thread is following a theory brought up in the thread posted by cryingmoon.
What if the ancient stories and myth's from the the Greeks, Egyptians, Norse etc regarding ancient gods were actually relating to accounts of ancient aliens visiting earth??
What is everybody's theory regarding this?
If aliens existed and presented themselves to ancient civilizations. The thought of them being mistaken for gods it as valid an idea as any other I have heard.
That is what i was thinking. If they are very advanced it becomes almost impossible to tell science from magic, magic from science, even now. What about thousands of years ago?
I agree with hurtsoulless... The existence of Aliens that visited Earth and been mistaken for Gods (for my pet I am God because I make sure it survives) is much more realistic than any religious fairy-tale I 've heard... It is really possible, especially in the case of Ancient Egypt, I may add...
i have always thought that there were others ou there somewhere the universe is very big and i they have been sighted
I certainly believe that the aliens are out there, you have to be pretty pompous to believe that in all that vastness we are all there is. On the other hand I think they have been too busy dealing with their own problems to have been here worrying about ours. If they could have developed to such an advanced state in their world that they could visit us, then we could certainly have developed to our stated without them. Though we may be much less advanced in some ways than those who came before us.
The fact that they were (are) probably more advanced than us, does not emply that they wouldn't ever visit us. Perhaps they wanted to leave some hints behind, for those of us that would start wondering... As the time passes, I believe that we will understand... If not us, the next generations...
"What is everybody's theory regarding this?"
smiles...
Google " Annunkai ".
a lot of pre sumerian and babylonian texts predates many others.. reference Annunkai.
what ya gotta do is send an atomic device through the stargate at them, and then run like fuck
TwistedWhisper,
My personal idea on the Gods stems from a more religious aspect. I tend to view them more as fallen angels rather than aliens.
It comes from the idea that angels are a job specific creation. Each one lives for a certain task which they were created for. Not every Angel was kicked out of Heaven for joining Satans side. Several were thrown out for not fighting at all.
When these Angels fell to earth. The Primative Humans that saw them were afraid and fell to thier feet begging for thier lives. Those that fell for being corrupt embrased this role as Gods. Many being cruel and demanding. Those that fell because they refused to fight neither accepted or denied this role. But continued to do thier task that they were created for.
Just an idea.
To shadowfever & karnstien- LOL
To Onikumo- hey, why not it's as good as any other theory
This all sounds like a great movie..but for real? No way!
If interested in the subject you might want to look into the books by Erich von Daniken. Bestsellers in the 70's, especially Chariots of the Gods. I personally think he was full of shit but the books were interesting reads and he convinced a lot of people.
The pre-Sumerian Anunnake ("Sons of the Heavenly Prince"), the pre-Egyptian Shemsu Hor ("Sons/Family of Horus"), and the Canaanite Bene Ha Elohim ("Sons of God{s}"and later vilified as the "Fallen Angels" of Genesis 6), were all different Middle-Eastern versions of the same historical event of a small group of celestial visitors, primarily or perhaps exclusively male, who taught Humankind anciently, exhibited their insatiable sexual capacities with Human females thereat, and founded two of Earth's greatest civilizations (namely, Sumer and Egypt).
The progeny of the sexual union of these hyperorgasmic celestial males and their Human female wives and lovers were later further vilified as having caused the Great Deluge of Genesis 6 as well as the far more contemporary legends of ... Vampires.
Should a more complete summary of these events be of interest, enjoy my profile page.
hey shadowfever … I loved that book lol
mind you fingerprints of the gods blows that book apart and paints a better picture.
As for aliens as gods…. I think it’s possible if you look at ancient religions pre Babylon and Sumerian … what with the man from the underworld and it’s 7 layers they also talk of start beings….
Who knows we could of left mars and landed badly and found the apes attractive enough like sheep to sailors and farmers lol
Now look at what you have a race at the top of the food chain totally out of link with mother nature …
Maybe were the aliens we just don’t know it ….
I can see it, they weren't smart enough to understat what they were.
lavisbre, "Apes Of The Gods" might be the ultimate book. Does have a better ring to it than "Sheep of the Farmers."
It is always possible that the gods of one are the idiots of another.
They have found paintings in Africa that resemble spaceships. I think it could very well be.
Many TV shows incorporate this theory into the drama, stargate is one. I think it is possible. The are drawings of men in "space gear" and in space ships all throughout history.
I'm not really sure how I feel about this. I guess might be possible. lol
Aliens could be the gods that all of these ancient civilizations are talking about that could explain how the pyramids were built and it is possible that they were...
The easiest explanation for these common stories in cultures worldwide of visitors from the skies would be extra-terrestrials. However were they of a different species than Homo Sapiens, it would not explain the equally prevalent tales of these male visitors having sired children through sexual relations with Human females.
Actually I have heared that theory a few hundred times before...but I dont really know....
I don't pretend that I know all the mysteries of the universe, but anything is possible.
Sounds too Stargate SG1 to me - i.e. great science fiction - emphasis on FICTION.
“and the angels found the women fair “
One way of saying oops my crew of space men mated with the indigenous monkeys
I believe anything is possible and will just leave it at that for now
I feel we should always keep an open mind to the fact that anything is possible and many things are not explained..
This Post reminds me of the Movie "Aliens Vs.Predator"
If you watch the movie, The Aztecs Or Mayans worship the Predator Aliens as gods.Watch the Movie and then post your response and you will notice what I'm talking about.

Yes, very similar... except for almost every detail: unlike the details of the cinematic dreck that was "AVP", the actual celestial visitors who arrived anciently were men, not "Aliens" or "Predators." And unlike either, these unique men did not slaughter Humans but instead taught our ancient ancestors the arts, sciences, and other essentials for harmonious civilization and then married Human females and with them raised loving families. And they, together with those families, then founded both the Sumerian and Egyptian empires, two of the longest lasting and most influential civilizations on this planet, both lasting for several millennia.
I don't recall either "Aliens" or "Predators" acting in any such benevolent fashion. Thus the comparison is hardly a fitting one.
As I have done studies on the old ones...The gods of back in the day's...Via Egyptian mythologies, etc. I have come to a conclusion, not of aliens, though they may have played their part. But the ancient times, men were just men, great heroes who were made gods by their fellow men for the deeds they had committed to. Like the pharoahs, who had an ancient king making ceremony. Which in turn made them kings to their people, or if you prefer, gods in their own rite. A good example is the character fiend on the movie 300.
Yes soulshroude
Wasn’t he cool, i would love to be him, only i would be smarter lol
Having done some experimenting in shaman ways I have seen beings talk who are part animal part human… my conclusion is the visitors are dimensional beings we can listen too and have listened too in the past. The actual beings on this planet who helped develop agriculture and so forth were Atlantarians or what we call people we believe to be from Atlantis. Finger prints of the gods talks of them all through history using staffs to life mountains and boats they come on with no paddles …
I'm not really sure. I suppose that could be what happened. I tend to doubt it though. It sounds too much like stuff I've seen on the Sci-Fi channel. Interesting theory though.
I deffently believe Aliens visited earth(still are) Every civilization had a golden age when Gods/Goddess walked the world. All cultures have tales of Star People especially the Hopi.My Professor always said there is a some truth in all legdends, fairytales and stories. It is more plasible than some of the run of the mill theorys. For all we know there may be a StarGate somewhere.
I do agree with Lavisbre's conclusion, as I have done the Atlantian studies as well, they are a very big part of masonic histories believe it or not. As man gains more knowledge and gains in intelligence, I am sure the truth will be revealed. But aside from the knowledge fact, I am sure that either multi dimensional, and or cosmic beings helped or are still helping in one fashion or another.
Another fine movie was Contact with Jodie Foster, a quote from said movie "If we were the only ones in the Universe, it would be an awful waste of space."
This is one of the basic ideas behind Deism. EIther god was an alien and then left. God is dead, or god is bored with us.
All are interesting ideas and valid pionts but nothing worth worrying about. The way I figure it, I'll know when I am dead. Or if the athiests are right, it won't matter
I agree with UpirLikhyj. There are many ancient texts that refer to the annunaki(e)
Many scientists have made feeble attempts to disprove the theories that surround the ancient sumerian beliefs, but in actual fact, they have actually proven that it is possible.
According to the texts the annunaki(e) lived on a "winged" planet names nibiru. Now it has been proven that saturn has rings....could these rings look like wings through a telescope?
It has also been proven that there is another planet....scientists speculate as to whether this planet is part of our solar system or not, and I believe they know it as Planet X. However, the eliptical path of this planet does traverse around our sun, and in ancient times it could have been seen by the naked eye as it passed between mars and earth on it's long arduous path around our sun.
According to the scientific evidence, this planetoid passes between earth and mars every 2,500 years or so and they estimate another pass sometime in the next 800-900 years. Obviously we will never see this. But if you trace the chronlogy back to when the sumerian civilisation was born, you will see that it is possible that beings from this planetoid may have found a way to travel here.
There are many thories that surround the sumerian beliefs.
Continuing from this, the Ancient Egyptian gods Osiris and Thoth are though by some to be decendents of the annunaki(e) known as Enki and Enlil.
Also the fact that one of Enki's sons was named Ka-In....could put some pressure on the Cain/Abel stories from the bible.
Mener
menerfecious, nice post.. much of what I've reads says the same but the cycle I read was 3600 years....
Niburu/Marduke/WormWood/ DarkStar all all names used in past of this same planetoid.
yes, i do believe they think that aliens were the gods. because in the stories it said that they helped built the great pyramids and all the other wonders of the world
interesting thought however i doubt it for one big reasion the egypin gods reflected there surroundings and i doubt such surroundings would occure in outer space
Othis, I would just like to point something out.
Firstly, the ancient egyptian god Osiris was the god of fertility but was also a god of death. Therefore, as a god of fertility do you think this could be somehow linked to the annunaki? I certainly do.
Secondly, the god Thoth, was a scribe to the gods at first, but then he was elevated to the god of magicks and wisdom. It was apparently he whom claimed responsibility for the invention of heiroglyphics. I can also relate this to the story of the annunaki. According to scholars the sumerian god known as Enki, travelled to Egypt after the sumerians started to flourish as a civilisation. With him he took the secrets of writing and also the secrets of magick. It is very well known that the ancient egyptians used magicks in everyday life.
Mener
I believe that you may be on to something. It is a very good possibility.
this is a movie, and 2 tv shows, called stargate....lol
what about the pyramids of Mars?> where the Osirians held Sutekh prisoner for his crimes?
The writers of the stargate sagas did a lot of research before writing the stories.
They took influences from the following civilisations.
Egyptians (obviously), Sumerians (the annunaki were believed to be serpent headed humanoids), The Mayans (who believed that their gods could inhabit humans) and finally the carthaginians (who were excellent warriors and fearless in battle).
Are you referring to the pyramids that make the sydonian mountain range....one of which seems to have a face that is half human and half cat Karnstein?
until they actually get to mars, as in a person i wont believe anything lived there in the recent past
as for the rest idk, there is alot unexplained but i fail to understand how "aliens" could have left just enough trace for us to think they are there, seems like a bunch of seeing stuff that aint there.
Thankyou menerfericous,
Joss Wheaton and his crew did do a lot of research on the programme he wrote and this theory would cwertainly explain a lot of the ancient mysteries out there such as how come there is a highly radioactive layer UNDER the ruins of an ancient city in India.
There is a link to this info is guesome tenancies thread on Atlantis. Sorry i don't know how to do the links to websites myself:(
I think it could be very plausible. If ancient man saw something as being that far advanced I don't think its that far of a leap to consider these being as gods.
I have a book about the making of Stargate SG1, the script leader says they looked 'a liitle' into ancient Egypt ... after that the sci-fi took over.
Rather than get side tracked into Stargate, I'll hop back to original question.
If you could get yourself on top of an Aztec temple back in the Aztec days with a disco laser show, a smoke machine and a handgun - you could probably make a passable god, yes
The real problem is getting back there with advanced technology and for that we're stuck with either space aliens or time travel.
So it then comes down to if you believe in space aliens or time travel then the answer has to be yes, if you don't believe the answer has to be no. I guess
I know a lot of ancient Egyptian drawings show their gods with little wings on their heels - this has always been taken as meaning they could fly, could mean something else ...
I'll sit on the wall an watch
There is ample evidence of ancient cultures achieving architectural feats they could not possibly have achieved with simple tools....Gods of the New Millenium and Erik van Daniken's works give many practical examples... electrical batteries in egyptian tombs are a good example...
I am a devout Norse Pagan which means that I worship and believe in the ancient Viking and Norse Gods and no I do not believe that these Gods were mistaken from aliens. I think that the theory is absurd, as I do not believe in extra-terrestrial lifeforms. In the future, I may be proven wrong, but until I have proof, until I am a part of that world, I will not believe.
well if you watch like informative tv like discovery and the history channel youll see that alot of those so called un-achievable works of architecture can and were made by man....humanity is very ingenuitive when it wants to be...pyraminds dont automatical say aliens were here....
and we dont truely know enough about our own ancentors really to say they couldnt have accomplished great things....
Many have been working on this far longer some even decades... than the writer that did the basis of the stargate movie.
LOL
i mean you really cany base movies on this type of topic/opinions i believe in aliens and i think it is possible for them to be a god... i mean look at the pyramids i think aliens helped
yeahhhhhh,
interesting idea..... but possibly more unlikely than gods.
b/c even if they were aliens.. would they only stick around just to be idolized?
Given the human propernsity to worship anyone or anything that can do anything they can't because it's either fear it and worship it in hopes of getting on their good side, or fear it and try to kill it before it might be able to kill you... Yeah, I could see where aliens could b worshipped as gods. Or angels. Or just abtou anythign else you want to call them... Makes a very interesting story, and a great topic for late night conversations.

Interesting that you should mention Osiris as a possible descendant of the Anunnake and in possession of the insatiable sexual "Dark Gift" later attributed to vampires (before the vilifications and fictions changed this to blooddrinking, instead).
What you may not have yet discovered is that there was an Egyptian god that predated Osiris by at least a millennium who was, indeed, the only true male Sex God of the Egyptians and was the only Egyptian god ever depicted as ithyphallic (with eternally erect penis). His name was "Menu" ("Min" in Greek), and he existed in Egypt long before Osiris' own myth. However, the story doesn't end there.
In addition to being the oldest Egyptian god, having been worshipped from pre-dynastic times, "Min" was first an actual mortal man. His name was "Mene"... or in other words "Menes." He was King Menes, the first Egyptian King to unify both Upper and Lower Egypt and who founded thereby the Egyptian Empire. As revealed in the recently discovered "Scorpion Tableau," a rock drawing dated to 3250 BCE, this predynastic king was thereon depicted as having... a very erect penis, exactly as was Min for thousands of years thereafter. As only the god "Min" (or his aspect when assumed by other gods such as Amen) was ever so depicted throughout the thousands of years of Egyptian history, it becomes even far more significant that the "Scorpion Tableau" should likewise depict the Scorpion King (Menes) with the same erect phallus as his later deified form as "Menu" ("Min").
Of not a little significance, Herodotus, the famous Greek historian who lived in Hellenized Egypt, stated in his "Histories" while there in the empire that King Menes and Menu (Min) were one and the same! Thus, here we have smoking-gun evidence that King Menes, the man who came to Egypt from Sumer and then unified Egypt under his rule... possessed the singular "eternally firm" nature that also did the Sumerian Kings whose ancestors were the fabled "Anunnake" who likewise possessed this same insatiable sexual capacity, as also implied in Genesis Ch. 6 and "God's" supposed condemnation of them for having expressed such with Human females.
And of a final key note here: The Greek sex god Pan was himself directly derived from "Min," retaining as his own characteristics all of Min's sexual insatiability. For this reason, Min's capitol city of Ahkmim was renamed by the Greeks, Panopolis (City of Pan). Later, due specifically to Pan's insatiable sexuality together with his goat-like appearance, in Christian times the Devil was himself depicted as having Pan's goat's head appearance as well. And Azazel, the supposed chief of the "Fallen Angels" was also the name given by ancient Israelites to the literal "scapegoat", the goat sacrificed every year to atone for the sins of the nation. Thus, again, the connections between the Anunnake/Fallen Angels as one and the same are unavoidable.
Hope I didn't bore anyone too much.
UpirLikhyj
I would like to thank you for your post. I didn't realise that the god Min was actually unified with menes. I wonder if you have a link where i could find this information on the internet.
I have done a serach for the Tableu you mentioned and have found nothing as yet (thousands of pages referring to the year of the scorpion and scorpion king film are hard to pass).
Thanks a lot. Maybe we can continue this discussion at a later date.

Maybe the Egyptions were smoking some really good sh*t...
RosemaryRain ""yeahhhhhh,

In some writings of the ancients it says that the Annunkai made slaves of man... we were thier miners for the gold they needed.. also we were used as their genetic tests. see the symbols for chromosomes in ancient symbology is present if one researches it.
the two snakes. and before.......

As for finding radioactive components under the land in India as per the mythology a great war happened....The Mahabharata and the weapons used in the war were mostly nuclear and very advanced....There are a lot of references indicating that it was a full scale nuclear war.....Now imagine if there were any survivors left, they made their own city...and started teaching all the other early civilizations like Egypt to build their architectural structures and all and equip them with technical knowledge...Now just humor me..What if that particular city came to be known as Atlantis....Therefore that would take the concept of extra terrestrials out of the question..My point is what if after imparting some basic knowledge to the early civilizations these people destroyed their own city because they knew how dangerous was the knowledge and technology possessed by them from experience.Maybe they still live somewhere here on Earth....Who knows?
I would like you to think about this and reply..
Thank you..
It might be that these visitors were regarded as Gods, as holy, since they displayed all kind of blinking lights, and twirking sounds, fascinating the neandertal by the way, wich amazed, told a story on the wall, and learned how to be an artist by the way!
But can we say that they were mistaken?
I say that anything wich is more powerfull, is a god automaticaly, cuz you cant but be fucked by it.
It always was one of my favourite theories and there actually is some scientific evidence to suport it but not much, as usual.
This was all the rage in the 1970's. Eric Von Daniken made an entire career out of it.

A Google.com search under the "Images" category will produce two great images at the very top of the search... and both images are from my own website summarizing the research I've conducted on this subject. Specifically, you will find the best image of the ithyphallic "Scorpion King" from this predynastic petroglyph (taken directly from the the January 2001 issue of "Discover" magazine) by clicking here.
And as regards the topic generally, I also highly recommend Graham Hancock's book "Fingerprints of the Gods."
You have some very excellent links there. I have enjoyed looking at them.
I have bookmarked the one above to read more thoroughly when I have more time.
I have this in my journal..thought I would share it.
Btw,excellent posts everyone.
Sorry for all the vids, but I have had em ..about time to put them to good use? :D
Thanks Oceanne, i intend to ck out those links....in the morning, it's now 1.25am in the u.k and i'm shattered, but since wer'e using vid's, i've grabbed this one from my profile for everyone who doesn't believe there are othr planets capable of supporting intelligent life...enjoy:)
Just hope it comes out alright
I think this is totally plausible, it would make more sense than some of the other theories I have heard. I also want to add that anyone that would completely dismiss the idea of alien existence altogether is somewhat close-minded. It is absurd to think that no other life exists outside of Earth.
I have an open mind and that anything is a possiblity..so why not..alot of unexplained things out there.
I think they just slipped in from another dimension and are here all the time but we cant see them scientists today believe in at leat 5 if not more dimensions.Because scientic experiments with protons which just vanish and return
The theory is possible I remember reading a book a long time ago where the author goes through the bible and points out alien technology or help where the supposed miracles took place, such as the parting of the red sea.
I can understand how an ancient civilisation could see an alien as being godlike and all powerful. Especially considering that it is something they have never encounted before.
The egyptians and aztecs both have imagry, myths, and in the case of the aztecs, deforming their children to look like the aliens.. all give evidence to support the theory.
RosemaryRain, you asked why would aliens not stick around to be idolized ?
To get any pleasure out of being idolized you would need an ego - alien's might not have one ... also, to an alien, maybe humans are boring and uninteresting - they've been there, done that and moved on ?
Who knows
i like that alien theory, dont know if i can believe it though. I dont believe in any religious story either, btw, but they may also have been built by a pharao high on opium? :-P
"God damn what a big building we are going to build!"
Stargate the movie and the tv series has played with this idea heavily.
Anything is possible.
Wow... I see a serious lack of critical thought in this thread.
Don't get me wrong - I'm all for keeping an open mind, but not so open that your brains fall out...
First off - the statement "anything is possible" is false because everything quite frankly isn't possible.
Second - "as good as any other theory" - in this case also false - even in the layman's rather than technical use of the word "theory". A "theory" has to have some factual basis behind it... otherwise it's just an opinion (unsubstantiated) or WAG.
Stormwind -
Wonderful to see that there are still a few here for whom Logic and Reason do matter. Important points all, Stormwind!
We aer just fertilizer.... No Gods.... No Aliens.......(well maybe far far away).... Just life, beer, and dirt....
wow, I've never heard this theory before, but now that I have I have to say it sort of makes a lot of sense, I believe that is totally possible
Thankyou for the post stormwind, as upir stated, it is a nice refreshing change to see that some of us do actually apply logical thinking to some of the thread here.
Inded, some of us may not be able to apply logical thinking to a thread such as this, logic does not really apply to this particular thread. But indeed you are correct. This is not so much a theory (although there is actually some evidence to suggest that this could indeed become a theory), but more a whimsical belief in something else other than any particular god/goddess.
Mener
I agree Stormwind,However..
Maybe some are just a little tired of repeating themselves over and over , and have nothing to offer for the time being other than to present some evidence for others to look at .
Also, the few that did post well thought out posts did an excellent job as far as Im concerned.
I read a Astronomy book about the grey aliens, there is a place called Zeta Retaculi, which is in the Retaculim constellation about 37 light years away, Zeta is supposed to be the home planet of the Greys. There knowledge is far greater then humans and they have advanced technology, they have been known for visiting Earth and abducting humans for their DNA. They seem to be well in the future, books say that the Greys have evolved over millions of years in the Universe from Carbon based life forms. Zeta Retaculi is a main sequence star, similer to our sun, which is a yellow dwatf, there planet is in the habitable zone, it's known as the giant water planet.
