The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I recently had an aquaintence of mine tell me that he was in fact a vampire who was over 300 years old. And although he is a sang vamp, he does not have to drink blood on a regular basis because, apparently, centuries ago he was given a bloodstone from an elder vampire.
Now supposedly, this bloodstone is implanted under the skin in his arm, and it self-injects vital blood nurtients into his system so that he does not have to drink blood. It also allows him to walk in the daylight hours of the day.

Is this aquaintance of mine suffering from an over-active imagination? Or has anyone ever heard of such a thing as a "bloodstone" ? If you have heard of a bloodstone, what is it? How was it formed? How does it work and why? (Or any other tidbits you might throw at me!!)

I have heard of and seen "Blood Stones" but I have never heard of them being used in such a fashion.

A "Blood Stone" is usually a dark colored stone with a trace of red in it that is very visible to the naked eye.

Well in your account of a bloodstone, what is it used for? It's purpose please?

Very interesting. I indeed also knew a Vampire. It was back when I was still in high school. We were very close yet, I never once saw him drink blood. He did however love rare meat. We went out to this great place for cheeseburgers once a week. I was doubtful of what he said he was so he showed me. One day we were supposed to meet but he never showed up. I never saw him again.

strengthening blood purifying organs would help a human for sure...

but would that help a vampire who must consume blood to live, survive longer without blood?

it's an interesting concept but i don't feel educated enough to answer that question for myself

Okay I will say this the bloodstone is the birthstone for march my stone & it is said to have magical powers for healing wounds, improving blood circulation & hemorrhages with merest touch so it will not release blood for nutrients but is just a healing stone

I have seen a blood stone before and whoever you were talking to has an overactive imagination. I don't think that stone can do what he says it can do and I also don't think he is imortal. lol.. if you really wanna try to stump him try asking him what it was like to live in the 1700's. Either he will give a really bad answer or jsut know a lot about the time.. you could then ask him what it is like to live in every century from there on. (I doubt he can give you good answers for those questions.)

But it did get me fascinated in the bloodstone itself and what all it may symbolize and what "powers" it may have.

But there is an old legend that is along these lines. The red spots within the rock or mineral are thought to be blood droplets of Christ, and was believed to have miraculous powers, even making the wearer of the stone invisible. Just something I remember from an old professor.

However, there is a bloodstone.. I have one. It is very dark green with red flecks throughout it, like drops of blood. Mine is a ring with a carved cameo on it.

The only time I have ever heard of a bloodstone was when I was reading a vampire book and it was one of the terms. It was a way of finding one another in times of need, each vampire would have to leave a small amount of blood in the bloodstone. Then if needed the elders would call upon them by using it.

I probably didn't do the best job of describing that.

Its a series, by Darren Shan.

The books start out more young adult but after awhile (when he starts mentioning the bloodstone) it becomes a little more adult.

I really enjoyed the series, once you get passed the authors beginning kinks.

Nvere heard of it being used that way.... But yes the bloodstone is a real stone... I myself have several peices of jewelry that have bloodstones in them. A bloodstone isa variety of deep-green chalcedony flecked with red jasper. Also called heliotrope. they are very pretty

Wow, now thats a whopper of a story, 300 years old...A real doozy.

I used to know someone of that type, he was a hell of a lifer (someone who thinks they are and plays the role with costume.) that actually thought he was 500 years old...His nickname was Vlad of all things. I thought he was hilarious. He took the whole thing so seriously that he actually slept in a $50 dollar generic coffin, the thing looked like shite.

Anywho, the bloodstone in the FullMoon series: Subspecies, was probably what he was refering to. psycho babble if you ask me.

True bloodstones that exist are small rocks as one of the previous posts have already stated. The mythical bloodstones do not exist. If he actually had one implanted in his skin, ask him to prove it and cut himself...If he were immortal, he would heal the wound instantaniously.

The bloodstone is a real stone used for metaphysical purposes but not in the way you just described. Thats just pure fiction.

Next time you see this individual, since he claims to be 300 years old, ask him to tell you some stories about past historic events and what it was like living in the ages of the civil war, the civil rights, the 19th century, world war 2, world war 1, the founding of the nation, and other events...I am sure he would come up with a wallop of stories. How he survived...I gotta hear this one.

But this does seem to be a fascinating stone at that! I did an online search and found many fictional novels having the bloodstone and vampires linked...but have not come across any alleged "truths" surrounding the vampire and the stone.

i have a blood stone and know alot about them but i was wondering is it possible to use blood and to crystalize it into a stone?

I am sure it is possible if you have a hot enough firing pit...Aka. glass burner, or ceramics stove.

Surely there are ppl with more powerful blood than others...But do you think it would still be as powerful if it were changed into a solid? Would changing blood from a liquid to a solid make it more or less potent?

I have however, heard of the Bloodstone Quartz, but the "power" he that is described above is not what I have heard about it. I have heard that it is gives energy and has healing properties but nothing more than that. And I have never, ever heard of it being placed under someon'e skin. It is usually worn on some piece of jewelry or in apocket somewhere.

its a type of stone, a band, but no. there is no vampire bloodstone. i'm thinking something a little more severe than an overactive imaginationthough... he probably said its implanted in the arm becaus ealong with not being able to prove it, you can't disprove it either...idk. sounds silly to me.

I have a bloodstone and it is a protective stone it was believed at that these stones were all over the ground under where Jesus was crucified and that when his blood was spilled it went all over the stones and gave them the ability to protect the holder and they are supposed to have healing powers as well.

My problem with this discussion is that it begins with the assertion of someone to be over 300 years old. My human brain cannot process this lifespan, so I immediately call into question how legitimate he is as well as the capabilities of a bloodstone.

I would have to say a very over active imagination. There are such things as blood stones. they are generally smooth stones that have a trace of dark red in them. I have heard them being used in witchcraft,but never in a fashion as you have mentioned here.

How old did the person look? i would love to see his birth certificate. Could a person really be 300 years old? Who knows. And is the effect of the bloodstone on the person a case of a placebo?

There is not blood stone, nobody lives for 300 years unless its a biblical analogy and I am still on the fence about people makeing assertions that they are day walking vampires.

The history:

The Bloodstone plays a big part in the mythology of the Subspecies world. It is what gave the Vladislas family the ability to live in peace with the humans, but some also say it's what makes Radu the monster that he is.

The legend starts back in the 14th century when vampires first inhabited Romania. They were not necessarily evil vampires, but because of what they are, they were forced to feed on the local citizens. When the Turks invaded the kingdom, the vampires in the area easily defeated them, and in return, were given the ruins as a reward.

With the vampires still being, well..vampires, the locals knew something had to be done. One of the gypsies made a trip to Rome to steal a divine relic called "The Bloodstone" to give the king of the vampires as a peace offering.

One exception to this is the vampire Radu. Maybe it's because of his unwillingness to live as one with the humans, but his incredible thirst for blood is not diminished with the stone, in fact, the more he drinks from the stone the more he seems to crave human blood.

Whether or not the Bloodstone gives a vampire more then just a meal is kind of up for debate. Up until Subspecies 4, I assumed that drinking from the Bloodstone might have actually weakened vampires (or the lack of human blood really). This conclusion was came to mainly to the fact that The King and Stefan seemed to die pretty easily. I thought it was obvious that the reason Radu kept coming back was either due to Mummy (and possibly a spell she had put on him), or that he had a steady diet of human blood.

Come Bloodstorm: Subspecies 4, everyone is obsessed with the Bloodstone, they act as if just having one drop from it will change their life forever. Then we have Michelle's narative at the end, talking about how she slowly unlock its powers.

So, were the vampires in in Subspecies 4 misinformed or just plain, or does the stone actually hold the secret to Radu's powers? If the former, then what's up with Michelle's narative..Dumbo syndrome? Perhaps we'll find out more in the next movie.


Who had it:

The Pope?: well, they never mention this, but since the Gypsy did have to go to Rome to get it, I say it's very likely this is where he got it from.
The Gypsy: delivered it from Rome to King Vladislas.
The King: received it as a peace offering from the humans in the area.
Radu: killed the King and took it because he felt it was his birth right, not Stefan's.
Stefan: "killed" Radu to bring it back into propper hands.
Michelle: took it from Stefan's corpse after Radu staked him.
Marin: found it in the hotel room where Michelle was believed to have died.
Rebecca: got it from Marin with the rest of Michelle's possessions.
Michelle: took it from Rebecca when they met in the park once night. Got one drop from it before..
Radu: took it from Michelle after he couldn't convince her to come with him.
Serena: was able to drink from it, but was never actually in possession of it
Michelle: claimed it for herself after she and Ana finished off Radu.


What it looks like:


Well, the stone has seen a few forms. From the old, ancient looking stone thingy from part one..to the delicate, divine-ish chrystal object in parts 2 and 3..and finally, to that whatever you want to call it (cheap imitation? ;) of part 4. Below is a picture of each of the stones, in the order of their appearance. Please note, even though it changes drastically from one stone to the other, storyline wise, there's only one Bloodstone..

The blood stone can be used to purify the blood of toxins and stabilize,balance,and increase or decrease, the flow of blood.

As far as a talisman or pendant that you wear NG it should get stronger, because of the power that is being imbued from you into it, due to the close proximity of it to the wearer.
