How does one go about stopping a demon from hurting you or attacking the ones you love?
This what you think, or have tried.

Are you able to use healing spells, do you have to go to the catholic pope? have you done this your self , with different spells?

Well your usual duct tape and stop signs don't work I suppose...

I don't know, I've never encountered a demon that I have been aware of.

well it depends on what kind of Demons we are dealing with, I mean there are the ones who possess a person and then there are Demons who just haunt certain people or places.

I myself if it is the possession kind then you do need a preist of man of the cloth so to speak that has no wavering in his belief and strength in God

yet if it is of the Haunting and bothersome kind then I myself have used a protection spell for who it was bothering.

Yet no matter what you do or use you have to have FAITH in what your doing as to ridding the person or place of a Demon.

look into chinese beliefs and understandings...

If we are talking about demonic possession then I would say a Catholic priest would be ones best bet.

It might sound too simple, but surrounding the room or house with salt can help to consecrate it.
Easy, cheap and can work to ward off the nasties.

I know a person who used to due it using amulet and protective spells trying to force them back to where they come from but it is very dangerous and hard to heal wonds from demons

I usially invoke a spirit, or protection spells. depending on how high the demon is, depends on what high the spirit i invoke...

I personaly have seen yo many demons for my liking thats why i don't go ouy much.

protection spells usually backfire. i say use sage to clense your home, smuge yourself and loved ones with it. if you can find a protection spell that is specific enough not to backfire, try it. i hope this helps.

Sevenn Edit: How pray tell does one "smudge" themselves with sage. Its an herb, a blossom really, and for most ritual use is DRIED. If you are using fresh sage it is green I (like say, basil or thyme) and doesn't "smudge". What sort of sage are you referring to?

According to Carol Mack in A Field Guide to Demons (1998), demons lack a "capacity for reason, love, or compassion." This is their Achilles heel. She goes on to say that, "Many of the most powerful demons can be easily tricked . . . they lack the human's ability to gain wisdom. They simply are."

She says they are heartless and love is so alien "it can melt them."

So if your demon is not of Christian origin, the religious symbols probably won't work, but maybe some loving kindness would.

personaly I had to ask for help and got assistance from a reiki master and some persons who are also at ease and good with the astral plan to help me.

I agree with the avoiding them if at all possible I haven't come in contact with the demons just the damage they have done to people who have fought them the lasting pain they inflict is hard to deal with.

There is a great book by Gershon Winkler called "Dybbuk" that is divided into two parts. The first part is relays several accounts of daemon possession and the second part deals with the technical aspect of how possession occurs and how they can be dealt with.
From personal studies and practice, dealing with these types of beings requires solid courage, faith and determination. There are banishing techniques that can be found in just about every book published on high magick. While the techniques may vary, courage, faith and determination are the key, the techniques are only tools.
Daemons can certainly be unnerving but one must remember that on the spiritual developmental ladder they are inferior to man.

it helps to know what there after . then work with all the power you can get . and if you can find there name , you got them by there short hairs .

What kind of demon?

What elemental make up can you perceive?

What noticeable effects occur because of said demon?

What are the environmental changes which occur in its presence?

Without these sort of questions, your worse off then trying to scream when your vocal cords have been ripped out....it doesn't happen.

to rid a demon you must first at least get rid of any unholy or devilsh artifacts it may be holding shape in.

I've heard you need a demon's name in order to do anything with it.

But, say it will not tell you its name.

How do you go about tricking it into telling you its name?

I've never encountered a demon before but I'm sure there are many ways you could try to get rid of the demon without running to a priest first. My best advice is to look up about what is bothering you. Or why you think a demon is after you in the first place. The question I have is what is happening that you believe there is a demon near you?

Dont you have to know what demon it is that you fighting........ then find out its weakness what destroys it

I was once a being targeted by what I truly believe was demonic force,it basically took all my will power and the help of a fellow witch to get rid of it and stop it's abuse.

I think I would go for a good old fashioned exorism.

A good protection spell would really help especially where you are and where you live...

I think it depends on your religious beliefs [if you have any].

You could go to a Priest to do so like an exorcism.

Or you could hunt the demon down yourself like a deer.

I think that you can't really stop it but you can protect yourself from demons by not calling on them and keeping protections spells or amulets around you.

First open all your windows then cast a circle around yourself and then banish the demon from your home....

The only time I was confronted by an evil spirit, ghost, demonn, whatever it was, as it approached me I told her I was not scared of her, that there was nothing she could do to me, and told her to go away, she did, dissolved, never bothered me again.

I've never encountered a demon, but I guess it really depends on your religion. For instance, if you were Christian I would say to quote scripture and pray, but if you were of a religion that practiced magics I would say to cast a circle and do a spell to cleanse whoever/whatever the demon is messing with.
I think faith is the most important thing. I don't think it really matters as long as you believe in what you're doing, but that's just my opinion.

A bundle of wormwood is very effective. Hang it over your door and no evil will enter. It is also good against fleas and other things similar.

If you burn some wormwood in your house, it will drive the demon out and cleanse your home.

I have used it on some unplesant intruders and they left because the smell is too much for them. It is not that bad for the human nose.

I agree that a man of the cloth with great faith in a higher power always seesm to be the most effective in dealing with demons to say.

There is a question of the existance of demons and their origins. Demons were technically not referred to until around the 1300's within Christian religious discussions.

The term of a demon actually has a ancient Greek origin, and it is not the evil demon that we refer to today.

So, the demons we are fighting today are technically figments of our immaginations that have been formed and fostered from the influence of religion and storytelling.

Yes, VotreLouve is correct on the salt issue. I used to work in a metaphysical store & when it started feeling freaky in there if you will, we always surrounded the room with sea salt. Circling the store 3 times clockwise & then going over the threshold of the door 3 times. As you did this surround yourself with a healing light.

With will power and strong faith along with support you can push the demons out and keep any bad things out.

For starters, burn sage throughout the house; protection spells from someone who knows what they're doing; and/or a Catholic priest. I'm only considering the priest due to the fact that the Catholic church has a track record of dealing with such entities. With that said, any religious person who can get the job done - fine.

I would look for a religious cleanser of sorts to stop a demon. The Catholic church is bolstering there exorcism studies so that more priest can perform them.

If I couldn't find anyone to cleanse the house- I'd take a good long vacation but not before finding the Bible on CD and setting it onto repeat.

To that other guy, with the "Demon begone!" post, although you're pretty funny too, it's kinda hard to say something doesn't exist when it's throwing McDonald's plastic kid's meal Pokemon balls at people's heads, because then it's more of a question of what the hell manner of creature can be invisible to the eye but still do physical things like that...yeah. Demon or poltergeist or untapped mental capabilities or your mom after a run-in with special Soy Sauce sold to her from a guy with a fake Jamaican accent, something like that tends to really rattle your day-to-day sensibilities.

But, I can't really complain too much...I'm the guy that needs to stick his finger in holes before believing too, and am rather proud of that fact.

So, here's hoping you get turned upside down one day. And I mean that in the best way.

I found this post to be quite helpful. I believe my niece has some sort of Demon trying to possess her.(and not just because she's a teenager) I told my sister-in-law about some of the ideas posted here. She tried the salt immediately with good results. But she hasn't gone to a priest to try to get it out of the house because she thinks priests are a bunch of no good **(*(&. She did put the salt all around the house and burned the sage as well.

well with my ex wife it took a good lawer but the demon is still out there
