What are in your opinion the main attributes that a Vampire should have?

Good question. If we take a look at history and when vampires were first mentioned, they were told as stories of some creature in the night to be feared for they fed on the living.....and then down the road, they become these romantic, seductive creatures that hold power over humanity and etc etc. The view of the vampire itself has changed over time. We are apparently fascinated and molding it into our own views.
If I were to say what i think a vampire's attributes would be.....I would say completely human physically. Maybe a different story their attributes would be spiritually. ;)

I would have to say if I could choose a vampires attributes: they would look like a beautiful human,but they would have a kind of Bram Stoker quality about them.

So they would be sneaky and ultra smart? :)

I think I would have to agree with Angelsmort that they have to look good and dont vampires need to bite

vampires should always be aware alert and have keen senses.

Possibly, super human physical strength with increased agility and animal magnetism (sex appeal) that is truly mesmerizing and overpowering :)

True cowgirl and although to me, vampires existences is highly questionable, the attraction is their alluring traits and that idea of being ‘chosen’ and the anticipation or fear of that first bite that causes ones blood to pump swiftly throughout the entire body. Its extremely exciting to imagine it, even though to me its just a romantic notion ;)

Smart, crafty, stronger, quicker, more agile, flying optional, all senses super heightened, for just a few.

Everything mentioned because I view fictional vamps as an ensemble act.

A certain moral ambiguity is appealing. Someone who struggles to resist their baser vampire drives, but who fails, falls, falters and just sucks blood with the best of them.

And then moves on, doesn't overly chastise themselves. Also someone capable of cold=blooded killing when the mood suits.

For me most definitely void of a tortured soul. Unfortunately a tortured soul could be possibly construed as slightly unstable, indecisive, one who wallows in self pity or laments on how tough their environment has been and those within it. For me a vampire should have the mental ability to cope with anything that come their way, enjoying superior mental health that humans could only wish for. Strength in body, mind and character would be essential attributes for any vampire, I think.

Well, at least one of them in the ensemble.

But what I refer to above is a vamp with a practical nature, who like many of us struggles to be a certain way --- let's say abstain from human blood, but who occasionally fails.

A certain amount of remorse and disgust with oneself is expected. But the person/vamp moves on, gets on with life/undeadness and tries again.

The story is in the internal struggle, not so much at the extremes of virtuousness and hellishness.

i think the attributes would relie on the person turning, weather they are timid or out going. I think alot of the attributes would hopefully be what is portrayed on the big screen. a cunning hunter, a deceptionist of image.

I think the main attributes should be:

Humanoid features/body

Ability to read minds

Ability to drink blood for sustenance

Shapeshifting

In short, super human, which includes strength and whatnot.

A conscious would be nice lol, while I would love to be a vampire being left for dead is not something I wish for...

The same attributes that an animal has for it's prey, to stock, kill, and protect it's kill from others until it consummes it's prey, basic animal instincts. Everything else is just for show.

Hard to say. You have your fictional vampires which have been made to be in so many different ways and then you have your real vampires which do have great abilities but nothing beyond understanding. Hmm...

Something I believe that has not been mentioned yes is that a vampyre is in my eyes, one of the more physically beautiful "people" roaming the lands. I see beauty in all that I have seen or met on this sight in one way or another. we all have that *Something* that makes us rather remarkably attractive individuals.

I would have to say looks and charm. A vampire is well known for their sexuality and having beautiful young females hanging off them.

But then again...look at Hugh Heifer lol

It would have to be society status attached to looks and of course personality.

Let's add that the vamp should drive a Ferrari...blood red with spinners.

He probably listens to Busta Rhymes and Linkin Park a lot.

Possibly has high status in politics and can get into the most elite nightclubs with ease.

I see a fictional vamp as one that is strong both in body and soul. The survival instinct of an animal is something that comes to mind, along with the ability to conform throughout time and have a sharp mind.

basically a human with a higher physical rating, stronger faster what not, but the sexual apeal is what should be the most pridominent becouse even those who stalk the night should have some way to bait there prey

Be smart, polite, handsome or beautiful, alluring and have great senses.

A vampire must have all the atributes that a predator has and here I agree with DORU... plus hmmmmm... a well based control upon himself... and very good tactics to achieve what he wants.

A motivator.. A real go getter attitude.. a presence that tells the victim they are in cozy hands .. as their blood is drawn from their being.. A gaze that would get with only a suggestion.. and then the ability to walk away and not leave a trace of ever being there. even the donor would question their presence..

with so many cultures having their own versions of Vampires....

the only attitubute they all share....

Predatory. A Vampire is a Hunter. So its main attributes would be those linked with those of our great predators of nature.

Heighten senses and predatory instinct, with speed, grace and being able to sexually allure their victims.

I would say, perfectional beauty, supremely intelligence , the abilyt to shapeshift, and strength.

They need to be alluring, sensual, sexy, and terrifying.

Did i mention strong.. yeah strong and scary when the time is right.. Stength of mind and body.. But alluring soo alluring

All 5 senses would be super strength, a perfect person in looks and character, to lure their prey in. Super human strength.

based on movies youthful apperance, charismatic, and charming, fangs . . . .based off mythology id say theyd be more like a corpse, foul smelling, ugly and more violent in behavior.

i would think that the main atributes for a modern day vampire would have to be (Mystery)- (romance for the dark side) and of course (everlearning knowledge of things)
