Ok. I have to admit that I almost never start a new thread in here but I was curiopus as to your own beliefs of this symbol, if you have any. Feelings towards it, against it. I'd love to know. Even if you just think it looks cool and nothing else, lol.
The symbol is the Triquetra. Here's some stuff behind the symbol that you can read first before stating your opinion along with the site link in case you aren't sure what the sumbol looks like:
The triquetra (often, triqueta) is a tripartate symbol composed of three interlocked vesica pisces, marking the intersection of three circles. It is most commonly a symbol of the Holy Trinity (Father, son, Holy spirit) used by the Celtic Christian Church, sometimes stylized as three interlaced fish:
The triqueta symbol predates Christianity and was likely a Celtic symbol of the Goddess, and in the North, a symbol of the god Odin. Although it is often asserted that the triquetra is a symbol of a tripartite goddess, no such goddess has been identified with the symbol. Similar symbols do occur in some Norse and Celtic goddess imagery, but most likely represents the divisions of the animal kingdom and the three domains of earth mentioned above. Triplicities were common symbols in Celtic myth and legend, one of the possible reasons Christian beliefs were so easily adopted by the Celtic people.
The triqueta makes an ideal Christian symbol. It is a perfect representation of the concept of "three in one" in Christian trinity beliefs, and incorporates another popular Christian symbol, the fish, in its original form of the vesica pisces. It is sometimes enclosed within a circle to emphasize the unity aspect.
In Wiccan and Neopagan belief, the triqueta symbolizes the triple aspected goddess (maid, mother, and crone). Some Christians have protested this "appropriation" of the symbol...however, ironically enough, the original Christian fish symbol was derived from an early symbol of venus, one representing female generative organs- making the triquetra perfectly appropriate symbol for a Goddess revival. The triquetra is also considered to represnt the triplicities of mind, body, and soul, as well as the three domains of earth according to Celtic legend- earth, sea, and sky.
The triquetra also appears on the television series Charmed, probably as a less threatening alternative to the pentacle (the preferred emblem of witches real and imaginary). In the show, it represents the "power of three, acting as one " which in turn represents the three sisters.
Evangelical tract writers and conspiracy theorists like to label the triquetra a 'satanic' symbol, claiming it is a 'stylized' 666, an allusion to the 'number of the beast' in the Book of Revelation. This, however, is simply wishful thinking. The triquetra of interlaced fishes is one of the very earliest of Christian symbols, predating the crucifix by hundreds of years. The purported 'satanic' meaning of the symbol is a modern evangelical interpolation.

Let me know :)
Pagan/Wiccan/Goddess Symbolism
Represents the threefold nature of the goddess as virgin, mother and crone. It symbolizes life, death and rebirth. The inner circle represents the female and fertility.
Many cultures and cultures consider the number three to be holy and divine.
That`s another celtic symbol saved (from the vikings fury) beyond the gates of the christian churches by the celtic refugees desquised as monks.
A satanic symbol? Of course it is not.On the contrary. This is older then christianism.
The dacians had that symbol too as it is present of some fibulas discovered on the Transilvanian territory.
It's good but has a lot of competition in the days of mass media.
Good luck getting it out there. I highly doubt that Brangelina will be advocating this symbol prior to their next takeover of a foreign kid.
SP
Not wanting to repeat anyone but I have always seen it the symbol in three different ways. The first with the Wiccan and Pagan aspect of the 3 goddess, in christianity, and as a symbol to represent family leanage (sp). A long time ago, I read something that placed it within the druid traditions as well but for the life of me I can not remember where I read it at. Will have to look it up again.
I love the symbol too, especially in its relation to the Triple Goddess; To me, it symbolizes Mother Nature - something we all can respect.
Isis that was one of the aspects that I liked as well. The repsentation of mother nature something that no matter how harsh she can get we still respect her. Like the Mother or the Crone, if that made any since.
One of my main reasons for liking it is that I love the old Celtic symbols. They have always represented multiple things as one. And I used to watch the show Charmed all the time, which is when I fell in love with it...realizing how much meaning it has a family also.
for my and in my personal opinion, the triquetra is one of the best symbols for the Goddess. Indeed i wear a necklace with it in respect and worship.
the first time i ever saw it (that i know of) was when i started watching Charmed i really liked it because of that show as Rogue said but now i know alot more about it.... makes a difference when you know what things really are
aside from the fact that its a symbol that just looks cool, it holds all the different meaning already listed for different people, many may combine the different meanings into one simply because they believe more than one thing. It just depends on the person and the belief system, I personally find truth in all the different meanings listed with the exception of the satanic meaning, that I just dont buy into.
A pagan symbol whos meaning destroyed in the fires of history, copied and used by Christians then converted back by wiccans as it’s all that’s left to do not knowing what it meant … I would hazarded a guess with it never ending it’s Celtic
_Yes...the Triqueta is Celtic. I believe in it. Though, I am wary of it, because, like all symbols, it has been stolen by the Christian Church for a time. Yeah...that's all I really wanted to say._
Honestly never thought much of it, I am myself, much more spiritual then religious. I don't think much of symbols period , as I believe if you're already deeply connected to your beliefs and invested in them enough, you don't need to hang a symbol around your neck as its already tattooed symbolically on your heart. That said, for those who embrace the symbol I can completley respect that, I just myself don't need symbols in my world to prove spirituality or faith.
I belive it a symols of the goddess maid mother and crone it hold certain powers and like with every pagan belive it has been taken by the christian to use as they belive
As has already been posted, this symbol has many meanings and interpretations. I, too, love this symbol, and wear one on a ring and earrings. I like to think of it as the Goddess representation of the Wiccan religion.
to me it's just a symbol of eternal creation and of evolving though i am sure it does hold some value for a magickal symbol as well
Personally, for me, as well as the pagan and Charmed connotations, it can have a much more mundane meaning - the Id, Ego and Super-ego which we're all made up of. We each have three parts of our psyche which together make up our complex personalities, and this symbol could easily represent that.
There's more information here
thanks for sharing that link, very informative,i think that symbol can be much like the asian yin and yang for the most part.
A vesica is in the shape of an almond (yoni, mandorla), and your first clue that the symbol is based on a female trinity. Specific goddesses don’t have to be named rogue599: the yoni is universal. You’re wearing three interlocking vulvas. Sounds like good protection to me.
In prepatriarchal philosophy, back when our magical power was tied to procreation, sex with women provided (along with the giggles) spiritual nourishment for the male. He got plugged into the magic inside a woman’s body. A true believer was damn grateful for the opportunity.
I have forever been in love with this sign, I used to draw it all the time when I was younger, I finally decied on getting it as a tattoo back a few years ago.
For me it is - physical, mental and spiritual. And that each line is a wall of protection. I have it tattood on my back, the colors that the choose for my Tattoo are purple for the circle and the inner interlocking knots are turquoise
The purple representing Gemini (my sign), The Third Eye, emotional hurt, and wisdon Justice and forgiveness and healing. Puple is the color for Wednesday, the day I was born So this was the color represented myself
Turquoise is associated with the earth element, it aids in healing and brings luck, protection and courage.
It represents my son.
I chose the triquetra for its symbolism for protection.
It's nice to see so many responses to this. It shows how many people think alike and different at the same time...and how it can hold so many different meanings for the population at large. :)
I don't really feel anything towards it.
As others have said it's used in Wicca a lot and whatnot which had also appeared on the Book of Shadows in the tv show 'Charmed'.
After doing some more research on this I have found that the symbol is in many more religions. Taoism, Tantric, Alchemy, Hebrew, Hindu, relates with the moon phases as well. If you look at the design of the Celtic knots you can see the design woven into the knot. Here are the links that I found thought maybe that you would like to see them .

oh ok this symbol is around alot."charmed" uses it just never knoew what it was called and i always pegged it as wiccan not to do with the holy trinity. But it is a cool symbol
Like you said Darkestdream about family that is what I intend to get it tattooed as for my mother, myself and my daughter. There has never been more than three generations alive in my family on either side unless it was very briefly.
the symbols hold power that is why those of us that look to them have so much faith in them
That's great information Cheetahcry. Thanks for posting it.
And yes, it is a very cool symbol which was part of the reason I posted about it also...that, and curiosity, lol.
From a religous point of view it's everything that comes in 3s. It's also called a trine or triscle.
From a non religous point of view it's the land of 3 seas aka Trimaris aka the name for Florida in a living history group called the SCA. To which I"m in. If you want to know more just send me a message I'll gladly answer.
I am most certain that it is a symbol of protection that is sometimes used in spells...
Rogue, I am glad that the information was useful. I didn't really think much about the symbol but once I started serching it our on the web it became something that intriqued me. With the number of different religious beliefs that it showed up in.
Well I remember them on Charmed.. yet I was not to hip to it .. so not sure about them.
