me and my cousin got into an arguement over the regards of if someone commits suicide that they go to hell. now we both do not really believe in an afterlife placement but we had finished saw, and we considered that most of the people there did believe in an afterlife placement. however those people are forced to do harm upon themselves and in some cases kill themselves so what could possible be going through their mind, i mean they are being forced to commite suicide and homocide, so in the beliefs of the bible would these people go to hell?? or would they be forgiven for their actions because they did not intend to kill themselves or other people.
I believe in the after life. I have been taught that those who commit suicide will have to come back and redo everything again except the suicde.
To take your own life is a very hard thing but at them time of it people who do it its the only way they can see away out I dont beleve the go to hell and I do believe that god never leaves you but is with you and gives you the peace you so need
if the person in question believes in the afterlife and that taking ones own life warrants a forever of agony then i personally would respect their decision to follow their masochistic dream.
if the person believes that the only way to end a life of agony and believes there is no afterlife then i would support their decision to end it.
i also support anyone who chooses to live and live however they choose, but if i like them i will try to improve their life enough to make life worth living again.
Would a loving God....whichever one you happen to believe in, punish someone who was so desperate that they took their own life ?
I don't think so.
Hell was probably the state of mind the would be suicide was in before they took their own life.
Sinora raises a good point. When it comes to life, and the afterlife, we choose our own Heaven or Hell. Our mind comes up with what it thinks heaven is and what it thinks hell is. If, just hypothetical, someone thinks that heaven is with their loved one and hell is without, whereever that mind chooses to go, in the last split second before it can no longer make that decision is where it will go. I think that, if someone has peace of mind when they die, then they will be granted the ability to go where ever they choose.
Why would God send someone to hell for illness/imbalanced? They are only hurting themselves. Not meaning harm to others. But I do think they get the "boot" to go back to earth to start again. No free rides.
In most beliefs suicide is a sin...you either have to pay for it in hell, or you have to relive your life as punishment, and make the right choices.
In Christianity, if you're a Christian, you're forgiven...but if you're not, your kind of fucked regardless of whether you commit suicide or not. lol.
Most believe its a sin, but if god cares for everyone & put his life on the cross for others why would he condemn those that led a rough life, was imbalanced or just confused about everything to hell? Doesnt really make sense at all to me. Everybody claims he is a god of love, so why would he turn a blind eye to someone who decided to take their own life? Doesnt make any sense to me at all.
i be leave it depends on the secomstances but know one really nows were they go.
biblically speaking but the people were forced (so to speak to) to commit sucide not at all willing would it still be considered sin...
they may become a earthbound spirit that is bound to the earthly plain
Many ancient societies believed that you became a vampire if you commit suicide, not that you went to hell...
hard to say,
the bible is full of so many conderdictions, i think if you commit suicide you go where you think you should be, or your own private place, like your own heaven or your own hell
people that live crazy lives (i.e. abuse, bad depression...) or have circumstances that force them to end their lives i also think has already lived through enough hell so why be subjected to an eternity of sadness, torture or whatever it is that supposedly happens in hell?
I don't believe in the afterlife, but I do believe in spirituality. There does not seem to be a clear definition of the consequences of forced suicide and homicide in the Bible. The consequences of sin in the afterlife are not really seen until Revelations. The final judgement depends more on total righteousness of the person's life than the action causing the person's death. There is no bean counting for sins though, as there is in Islam. Either are mortal sins, as defined by later Catholic views on them. That kind of classification isn't in the Bible though.
It is easier to scare someone with the unknown than hope they'll just always go with the program -- and that is why suicides have been said to end up in some painful level of hell for all of eternity, blah, blah, blah...
Suicide is a horribly heartbreaking thing. The person committing the act is in more than enough pain and probably is taking on the weight of their world's pain which must feel horribly hopeless, but still are carrying through with their actions... The leading up to the suicide, I think, is hell enough.
As for an afterlife, I don't think it's the afterlife that needs to forgive but the person who was so unhappy with themselves that they felt they were not worthy of life.
Well suicide is taking ones life, so it can be considered murder. My parents say that you would go to hell. But, I think that maybe if you repent before you do it, you might be saved. I really don't know.... but if I thought I would go to heaven for sure, then I wouldn't be here right now.
committing suicide is a very hard thing, and hommisicide
many believe in being turned to a vampire or being with the devil, if one committs suicide,
I am a pagan but according to the bible suicide and homicide are sins ergo you go to hell for them period.
amongst the roman catholic faith it is considered to be a mortal sin to commit suicide ! your soul is sent to hell!!only a soul who has sacrificed himself to save another will be welcomed into the gates of heaven !!!
Probably is no heaven nor hell...
just absolute nothingness...
all the more reason it is better to be alive than dead no matter what...
The answer to your question is dependent upon your own religious ideology. We can no more speculate on whether or not suicide or living a moral lifestyle will permit you entrance to heaven or hell.
i agree with sinora, i believe that your quality of life is a response to your pasta acts, i think for some people hell is the life you live, but i think suicide is good for the person it happens to but bad for the loved ones because they always think what were the signs, if they could have saved them & all that stuff plus they will always miss that person
but.. suicide is the easy way out, dying is easy... living is hard, if you commit suicide i think your a coward, because there is a way out of every situation
well I know alot of people whom have committed suiside and well my own feelings on it is they are Cowards .... anyone can kill or be killed and just end life. yet tome the whole trick is stayiong alive and living life whether it is a hard life or an easy life, no one said it was gonna be easy when we were born. So To commit siuside is the coward way out and as I was raised and taught you will burn in hell and relive the hell of life on earth for eternity within yourself. not sure it is true I just feel you need to be strong and live your life the best way you can and are able.
I say live just to piss off your enemies. Gets them mad as hell if you live & enjoy it. Besides some days are great some are normal & boring so.
Well if you've ever read Dante's Inferno, then in that perspective no matter what circumstances were, it was still suicide, and you'd still wind up in hell.
In many branches of paganism suicide is believed to cause you to go through reincarnation to a similar life as to the one you left as the lessons were not learned.
I believe that someone in such a state so as to kill themselves is sickly and not usually in their right mind therefore I dont believe they would go to hell.
I will not get into my views on heaven or hell as that was not really the question.
But if we assume that heaven and hell.. God and Satan exist as many say they do... would being forced under duress to kill yourself or another be the same as doing so of your own free will? I would truly like to believe that any God that one would believe in would take into account the reason for any action. Nothing is that black and white. And is not your motivation a way to tell how you should or should not be judged?
well we are given the GIFT of LIFE so I do not feel that we have the right to commit suicide and take that gift away for any reason. and if you commit suicide or commit murder than your just a piece of worthless shit that has no respect for yourself or others, much less respect for whom ever gave you that life.
I was taught you burn in hell for eternity when you commit these sins so I am in favor of them being in fire forever myself.
Life is a gift we should cheerish it and live it to the best of our ability no matter how easy or hard it may be we should still stay strong to ourselves and give up by going out the cowards way of suicide / murder just an opinion
Sadly, not everyone has had such a gifted life they've been born into.
If all hell is is the last gasp baring regret, if not being able to separate the consciousness from the dying body, then suffer they will.. and the resonance for them (memory) will bare a weight, a scorn will linger in their personal legend, a blip with no accomplishment. Selfishness is one of the stronger motives for suicide, there are others though, some some what noble. Yet it would serve those that need bodies in pews to preach that to spill your own blood is sacreligious. Thwn there is the whole mercy suicide.
according to the bible it says in there that any kind of murder is wrong. and even if it was suicide, they would go to hell. Sooo The people that commit suicide go to hell. No doubt about it. If they were christians or believed in God, they'd go to heaven and God would send them to hell.
Jesus let himself be killed, and he went to Hell, according to the bible, Yet then again the bible sactioned murder.
I know not everyone was born into a gifted life yet that is even more reason to live and make it better for yourself and not just give up on yourself.
I have had alot of hard times even prison time yet I turned my life around and I am happy I done so. It was hard yet I done it and I am glad I did not give up I thought about it many times yet I stay strong and well here I am.
Suicide is such a delicate matter , people do it for the most various reasons , for love , for hate , for desperation , and they see it as an end to one of those emotions , an escape to all the suffering.
Now , if they go to hell , after they do that , i would say that would be even worst , because as they say , hell is the place where youl suffer indefinitly!
So , i would say , to obtain the answer on this one , you would have to kill yoursel!
(I DONT RECOMMEND THAT!) :P
An interesting movie on this subject is "What Dreams May Come."
It stars Robin Williams.
I THINK THE WHOLE CONCEPT ON SUICIDE IS THAT GOD IS JUST PUNISHING YOU THEN JUST SENDING YOU TO HELL BECAUSE IF YOU WANT TO KILL YOUR SELF AND LEAVE THIS EARTH THEN GOD WILL JUST BE PISSED OFF AND PUT YOU RIGHT BACK WHERE YOU WANTED TO LEAVE SO BAD!
Agreeing with Sinor and Meepers here.
I do not feel that there is per se a heaven or hell only what we make ours to be. Life itself to some might be heaven or hell but that does not mean that where we go after life is going to be hell or anywhere else. I personally feel that we make our own heaven and hell.
Okay, at this point, I have to laugh at MEsellers -- not a bad point!
I dont believe in heaven and hell I dont think that just because someone commits suicide they go to hell. So what if they took their own lives. I think it is something that religion trys to hold over people to scare them to say. The bible says god forgives mankind for all his sins, so why not this one?
Hmmm, CryingDutchess, would you please explain MEsellers?
I used to beleive that suicide was an unforgivable sin. How can you ask for forgiveness, after you are dead. You can't repent before it, if you are truly sorry, then you would not go through with it. However, it is not a damnable sin. More recently though, I stopped beleiving in God/Satan, heaven or hell. Religion is man made, and is used to keep the populace in line through fear and delusion. Just my opinion. I fully support an individuals right to beleive and worship however they want. Back to suicide. If you kill yourself, now I just beleive you life has ended. Simple as that. You become inert matter, and the rest of the world goes on.
well I like how Crying duchess put all her postings. I also laugh at sellers, yet I do so because why would you think God would get pissed I thought he was a forgiving God??? Maybe I was raised wrong. I do not feel anyone has the right to judge anyone else, My Father (dad) always said to me *do not judge someone unless you are them and have walked in their shoes* Point meaning you should not and cannot make a judgement on a person no matter what... If you judge them your no better than them henace a murder or someone whom commits suicide, how do you know that they had no other choice that there was no other way out, I just do no tsee God getting pissed off and condenming one of his flock so to say.
KDS you know life is a gift yet everyday someone loses their life actually many do even innocent babies, we cannot judge someone even if we may feel it is a cowardly way out, the thing is some people just are not strong enough to cope and wait or hope for a better brighter life, just how it is.
Me thinking it as a coward was out is just that my opinion I myself could not commit suicide, murder hell yea I could take a life if it came down to me or them and to me it is survival not murder there are different levels on taking a life.... So be careful whom you may judge and for what reason... you may find it to be more painful for yourself to live with that judgement of another... just some thoughts on it is all..
No one and I mean NO ONE asked to be born into this /their life, yet we are and well it is what it is. We have to make choices even the hard ones, that is the thing we do have choices even if it means running away from the bad and hoping to find or make it better for ourselves.
Plus there are the ones who are born weak minded or simple minded and well again who are we to judge them as to what they do?..
Unless you live that very exact second or minute that someone choses to commit suicide or murder then maybe then you might have a right to judge them to hell or not.. otherwise I just do not see it.
wow what responses, To each their own, for we were always taught and even hollywood plays on the persausion that people who commit suicide got to hell. Unforgivness for taking their life, yet I thinkit is based on murder of an individual, wether yourself or others, that hell awits. beliefs in the after life come strongly into this play for if we believ that something does exist after we shed our mortal shell than we are doomed to live out the act we caused.
CadreWolf so you say even if someone commits murder for self preservation they should be doomed in hell to live the act out ..... wow I believe in hell and the here after etc. yet I do not feel if one commits Murder for the fact of protecting ones family or self is a sin it is in the bible that soldiers or forgiven for that sin same as anyone else that may be committing it for protection.
Cause if that is how one believes than all our soldiers on this planet that kills everyday to keep their counrtymen safe is committing murder and will have to live out that act for eternity.... Well my opinion is I jsut do not feel that is so yet, it is just my opinion.
This whole thing feels so like the movie Constantin to me. Is it just me being protestant? I dont know. Sorry if I steped on someones toe.
I believe there is a hell and that suicide is a sure way of going there. It generally stems from Catholic beliefs. If a person wants to kill him/herself then they deserve to go to hell. Life is a precious gift that some people have no regaurds for. Such people will wind up in hell.
aren't people damned to hell for minor offences like swearing or looking at naked people?
For someone to commit Suicide they are at their wits end. There is no where they can go, they have had enough. I dont think that they really care if they go to hell, they would feel anyplace is better then where they are now.
Life is a grand thing but when someone is down and had enough life isnt that grand no more.
I feel as kryptlove and cryingduchess, we should not judge anyone for what they do . As was said by KL unless your in their shoes and are living their life who are we / you to judge. and well we have hell right here and now livning it so go figure, I mean what does that mean. we live things over and over everyday and have to live with our choices we make so where is the difference as to commit suicide and live it over and over as some have stated. hell is what you believe or what you make it.
Well I also have come close to doing myself in yet, realized it is too easy to just kill yourself or someone else, so I choose to live this life I have no matter if good or bad. Yet I do not believe that people who do so should or do go to hell, we are living in hell in some shape way or form by just living life and getting through all that comes across our paths... just an opinion.
This thread specifically asks "So in the beliefs of the bible would these people go to hell??"
From what I recall in the bible suicide is a huge sin and that any case of murder will send your ass to hell.
When someone commits suicide they feel it is the only way out. Even thou it is wrong to take a life, they are taking thier own and not someone else's. If u read the bible it states that god forgives us of out sins.
In my opinion the only ones that go to hell are the trully evil
To respond to the question asked in the above post.no i do not believe this But to murder in cold blood i do think that would fall into the case, yet we persive killing of another person a mortal sin yet we give leanence to what our minds say is for the right reason, pertection of family and home, yet to you it may be justified yet to others it is a sin and there soul to be cast into hell. sorry we donot all think alike. A choice of beliefs whether hell is an after life or just a tale to scare.
I've heard that if you commit a sin you ask god to forgive you and than your ok again however if you commit suicide you can't ask god to forgive you.
I don't believe that god would send you to hell for leaving a world of pain, to look for something better in the next life, and than have a person that has killed a few people, askes for forgiveness, and then goes to heaven unharmed.
It also depends. If you kill yourself so you don't have to pay for a crime that you have done than yah but to get away from pain of life gone wrong......
ok wow interesting way to think about saw the movie (I love those movies :] )
in that movie it was any man/woman for themselves at any cost sure none of them wanted to die it just all kinda of happend that way how ever you have to think of it more on a spychological perspective being told that a poison is running through your body and you are trapped somewhere and you are supposed to find something in order to get out you wont just sit tight in one spot and do nothing you will do what seems fit to solve the puzzle wouldn't you?
you would want everyone to work together but that is sometimes not the case b/c they wont want to see things your way in that state (like in saw two)
saw one the only way out seemed to be to saw through your foot but llittle did they know.
what may seem to be might not have to be... try looking at the situation a different way from now on.
as far as god goes...
I think that if they had thoguht for a single second to maybe repent for their sins then it owuldn't matter if they reached the goal or not of course they would have gone too heaven b/c once you repent in the chritian faith you are (pardoned) so to speak you are cleansed if they had just thoguht about tthe fact that they may never see the light of day again and pryed remebered faith then perhaps they would have made it to heaven but everyone will ultimately have to be judged in the end wheather you believe it or not.
you may not want to hear it but it's true
I think that all of them who died in the movie went to hell wheather they where killed by accident or they chose to take their own life they went to hell b/c they all had one thing in common they all had bad intensions in they're hearts.
A Fly on the wall
in a room wrought with whoa
a blade is passed across a wrist
a phrase is spoken with intent
" See how God Feels About This !"
I don't believe suicide is a reason to be sent to hell (not that I personally belive in such a place) To take your own life because you absolutely do not have the strength to go on any more does not seem like a punishable crime to me!
To give your life, knowing that others will live is similar to martyrdom. It does not automatically condemn you to hell. But will be weighed with the actions of your life. If you killed yourself for others merely only thinking that you will be guarenteed passage to heaven you would probably find the opposite.
True selflessness is thought impossible, but truly no one can know what goes on in anothers head. Stepping in front of obvious doom for a friend, a loved one, even a stranger knowing your death shall happen in hopes that the other can be saved is perhaps the ultimate redemption, the hope that there is good in all people.
It is knowing that in a pinch you can do it... fact being no one really knows. I'd still like to keep hope that self sacrifice for the benefit of others is a saving moment in people.
LIFE is sacred, in theory, you only get one on this earth. To waste that which the you were given because you feel death is better than life is the ultimate sin. No matter if killers seek pennance and gain it is no comparison, for they lived their lives, and if they TRULY feel remorse for their crimes, god willl look more favorably on their lives than if they did not ask forgiveness ever. Asking forgiveness is a request you forget this when you make claims on christians and catholics alike. You think that asking forgiveness is an assurance, its not. Because the lord does not permit lies and false pennance. Finding, and accepting all that the lord has to give are two different things. Changing your ways, and saying you'll change your ways are different.
Suicide is a slap to all life, to waste your own life, and the potential you can try to make of it is why suicide results in damnation, in the same sense giving your life willingly, knowing the possible outcome is what can save a person.
I know that religiously speaking they would be damned to hell for committing suicide. I tend to personally believe that there are special circumstances that would save a soul from going to hell. One example might be if the person was in constant pain and suffering and there was no hope what so ever of recovering.
well I also will say that on the religious note to commit suicide or murder for any reason is a sin, YET.... I feel that it depends on the circumstances in which it may happen so to be in hell for it, well I could not make that judgement unless I knew what caused the circumstances.
I believe in heaven and hell but I hate to think that suicides go to hell. If they felt their life was so awful that death was the only way out, I would hate for them to be condemned to something far worse than what they tried to escape from.
I'm not sure what I believe about this, but I'm erroring on the side of caution and not taking any chances. Not that I ever really wanted to kill myself, but if I did, I would rather not take the risk.
I don't think you can have any right or wrong answer to this question. This response does not apply to those who commit suicide for the purpose of achieving martyrdom or suicide bomings, etc. There are many factors to consider as to whether or not a person who commits suicide is doomed to eternal damnation:
1) Religious Belief, Path or Sect;
2) Whether or not you believe there are actually places or dimensions that are Heaven or Hell;
3) The conditions under which suicide is committed;
4) Mental state of the person: To commit a mortal sin you have to be mentally healthy
Even the Roman Catholic Church does not condemn everyone who has committed suicide:
* * * * *
In earlier times a person who committed suicide would often be denied funeral rites and even burial in a Church cemetery. However, some consideration has always been taken into account of the person's mental state at the time. Canon law no longer specifically mentions suicide as an impediment to funeral rites or religious sepulture.
We know that God is a merciful God. When a person commits suicide they are not in control of their mental faculties. Depression is an illness that left unattended can sometimes lead people to contemplate suicide. God cannot condemn someone who did not know what they were doing. The Lord’s mercy is never ending. When someone commits suicide we pray to the Lord for them and their family.
Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide.

What is the Catholic Church’s Position on Suicide?
I think it really depends on your beliefs...because what i may believe about suicide the next person may not. I was raised to believe suicide was the cowards way out but as an adult I don't really believe that. There are certain circumstances where it might be ok depending on who you are...I would not willingly take my own life unless the life of someone i loved depended on it...
And I do agree with PsiVampire there is no right or wrong answer to this...
I don't think they would go to hell because it wasn't their choice they were forced to do it, It's not like they intended to commit the crime!
Sacrifice is not suicide. If I run out in front of a bus knowing that after I push a child away I will likely, or surly get hit... that is a sacrificial gambit . I would die a relaxed person then and there.
Good point Dabbler.
I personally don't believe someone who commits suicide goes to hell.
I think they do go to hell if they commit suicide.. Just my view on it is all.
i believe that if someone commits suicide they go to hell no matter the cercomtances
Well, it's subjective depending on your religious beliefs- but my priest said at a suicide funeral that the suicide event did not define the person's life, it was merely the loudest event of his life. Anyone who commits suicide is obvious suffering mentally. I don't think God punishes mentally ill people.
i often wondered where the line was drawn you did this much bad so you go to hell and oh you were not that bad by .5 as the last guy hey come to heaven... i dont believe in heaven or hell but if the bible is real i am scared cause that is one messed up dude in the sky hey i create life awe i love them nooo there bad distroy them and start over um he is forgiving yah in a pigs nose ....sorry if this offends anyone i dont religion bash everyone is free to believe how they want what i said is only my opinion
I have heard that suicide is a sin most of my life.
I have tried to commit suicide myself before but that is another story and i have some people super close to me that have committed suicide.
I think if a person is evil it is known and they possibly go to hell.
I think some that do suicide honestly are in so much pain through different means that they feel there is no other recourse but still are good people and might not end up in hell.
God knows our hearts and whether we are bad or good and will send us where He sees fit whether we have committed suicide or died of some other cause.
i
Clandestine thank you.. Beltran well stated.
Some would wish hell on others, some would plea for their passage to heaven, people react to suicide in various ways. My Interest is not whether the person goes to hewaven or hell it is in how they are remembered.. A weak complaining depressing unsocialized person.. then the I tried so hard for them people, along with the he did this to get back at me. The scene and influance they create for others is a micro hell for them. Suffering termoil and confusion. Or some may be happy, I was stoked that the two columbine Shotters finished them selves, the redemtion that act had was notable.
There are the assisted suicide, and that leaves less impact on some people, but some have such a position against it that they miss the persons confidence and settled coarse, they have their own agenda, and it creates falter in the suffering person. I would "put on the face" for a loved one, even if I was against assisited suicide. It would be the persons claim that they don't want them to suffer their faiths assumption, yet they overlook the current actual suffering that is being ended.
I was always under the impression that you were forgiven all your sins. If this is the case then why would you go to hell. I think it is just hearsay to make people scared to even continplate committing Suicide.
If you are of Christian faith, then "thou shalt not kill."
The only way to not burn in hell is to be forgiven of your sins...kinda hard to ask for forgiveness if you just killed yourself :P
suicide-hell...
a forgiving god? in the bible he completly sloughters an entire city because they chose not to worship him, with fire raining from the sky... or something like that also i believe that in the "bible"/ "holy book" it says somewhere that suicide was the only unforgivable sin. but i think that if you dont intend to murder someone or kill you're self and its done under duress then you shouldn't go to hell, because the situations that they were in they would die anyways right?
I believe in afterlife - but if someone commits suicide they become an unsteetled spirit and have to be exorcsised in order to move on.
This is something that hit home for me as for i have see someone take there life because they thought it was the right thing to do and that it would make ever ones life easy but it does say in the bible we sound not take a life . but like some of you other said are right at the time they take there life they are in hell in there mind so does God let them go to hell or not I have no Ideal but do think there soul are in between to they make good on what they did so bad in life .
Suicide is a mortal sin so if u commit suicide you automaticly got to hell no mater how good of a life you have lived
beleifs in religion seem to ponder this idea that suicide will be a first class ticket to hell, yet i am a christian and for everything there is a plan. beliefs are what sometimes keep the mind sane, and these people who do this they are in hell before they do such an act and their whole relief is to commit suicide. is it wrong yes. life is to be cherished, yet we do not know what lies on the other side. only speculation of techings and other reports. so to us we must find our own answer to this pondering question.
I think I heard it explained best in a sylivia browne book. she states that a soul that ends there life tragically or on there own, they are not finished, she believes that they are in a grey waiting area, sometimes they have to resolve the issues around there death before they can go through the door they are supposed to go. she states we actually pick our own life experinces, sometimes it takes more than once to get it right.
I think that if you are doing it to save another then thats self sacrifice and you wont go to hell! But when you just kill yourself because you can't take it anymore thats just being selfish and you would more than likely go to hell.
I was raised as a southern baptist where it plainly speaks that if you commit suicide you will go to hell for that is the one unforgiven sin, but as most of you do, i do not believe that this is true. I may be wrong I don't know I have never done it before.
I do believe that you get a second chance in making things right no matter what. I would like to think I have a second chance.
nks It would be worth noting that Sylvia Brown is a plagerist, that is a collection of rephrased writings.
i dont know what i believe in anymore theres so many different things i hear anymore... my opinion i think when you die, commit suicide, what ever way u have it i think u just die theres nothing bringing u down or takeing u up its just a little thing to believe in to make certain people feel better about death.... this makes me start to think what them scrolls that are being kept from us is all about....
it explains it very well in the constantine film
dnt no if thats how its spelt lol
As far as interpreting the Bible, it kind of depends upon which interpretation you accept. Personally, I see no reason to believe in an afterlife. When you die, you die. I see nothing to suggest that the means by which that occurs, has any bearing. And sometimes, when there is little chance that things will get better, suicide may simply be the answer. I know people don't like that idea, but I think it's a reality in a very few cases.
I think living people have more torment/stigma over a persons suicide then the person that actually commits it. Then a question comes to mind regarding people who use attempted suicide to gain attention, or to express extreme disturbances in their personality. I have seen people use suicide to get their way in a matter, Example:"If you don't let me out with my friends this weekend, you know I will be depressed and, we all know what I did last time I was depressed.."
My Mom commited suicide last year and I do not believe she went to hell. But then again, I don't believe in heaven or hell. And even if I did, I know a loving God would not do that to a person, especially when they were in such agony and pain.
You are going by man's judgement and man wrote the Bible also. Neither you, nor any man or woman on Earth knows what the "rules" of the universe are, and to think you do, is your ego.
People so desperately want to believe they can peek behind that veil, and have some hint shown them, the allure of rest when one is so distressed, yet at that very moment, after the act begins, that moment ...
Living through an attempt myself, I can only say that their was a conflict in my reasoning, I was challenged to the core of my being. To carry through, what does it take, is the suffering that bad (it can be), is the future so bleak, it can appear that way (especially if one obsesses over tomorrow and never lives in the present day, it is easy to find dispair in the future, yet the challenge is finding life in the moment.
I am only going on what I was raised and taught about this subject. I believe in some kind of after life, because for one thing how did everything get here? But I was raised to believe that if you take your life you do go to hell. I kinda feel this is true in a way, but then again I am not god. So therefore I can not judge anyone or tell you what really happens when you die of natural causes or suicide.
