have you ever had a dream were you felt pain
and woke up with pain or injury of some kind?
If so what was the dream about?
what injury did you wake up with?
ok my fellow people i will go first lol.
i had a dream i was fighting a wolf.
i felt its claws and woke up with scratches
on my arms and back.
Ah yes I did once have a dream where I was scratched and attacked. I woke up to find bruises on my upper arms and a huge scratch that went from my shoulder to my back.
Oh there was another where I was shot in the leg and I had bruises and scratches on my thigh.
yeah i have. I dreamt i was in a car accident and hit my head and was in a coma for months and i woke up with a huge headache....
many times i had a dream of flying, felt the air on my face. a dream i could never forget.
In a lot of cases I would think that the scratches/wounds would be self inflicted. Such a vivid dream would cause movement in your sleep. or so I think
i'm of that opinion too...
in fact pain i feel in my dream is usually the pain from sleeping on my arm wrong or in one case, when i kicked the cat and he scratched me
that very real pain affected my dream
i dont remember the dreams but i can feel the pain when i wake up and sometimes i feel like my breath is cut and cant breath at all

I had dreams where my ears really hurt and woke up to realize someone had changed my alarm to a country & western station....
i had a dream once where i was kissing someone and when I woke up my lips burned.
I had a dream that I got into a fight and when I awoke I had bruses on my arms.
once,i had a dream with best fight ever, its like in the games or something.
then i woke up,and i felt pain all over my body.
same like we had a sad dream, that bring a little tears into reality.
ive never done that but if im in a dream and i slip or trip up my body jolts lol its wierd apparently others i know do it too so im not all wierd...
I once had a dream I was running from someone and hurt my foot. I woke up in a sweat and my foot was hurting like in my dream. Did the pain in my foot crawl in my dream or did the dream cause the pain? I dunno
Possability that could have happened , i had a drean that i was beig attacked by dogs and woke to the feling that i did indeed had been bitten by a dog.
I believe the pain you experience in dreams can be very real due to your brain making it real.... Though I do believe that in most cases the pain is self inflicted injuries in your sleep.
I have dreams all the time like that. Only I couldn't say if it was my mind that caused it, or if it happened in reality and it influenced my dream. I remember one in particular where I got burnt in a dream and woke up with red abraisons all over my body. They went away after an hour or so.
I have dreams like that all the time. Sometimes I am in a battle with another person & the next morning I will wake up with cuts & scratches on me not knowing how they got there.
Hmm I don't recall what my dream was, but I woken by a well what felt like a slap to the face. Went to the bathroom and had a hand mark on my face and scratches on my left arm, belly and neck.
I don't really think that what ever you're dreaming about is causing these injuries. If you have a dream that you are being attacked, surely you will move around. Maybe in your dream you are defending yourself or trying to get away from your attacker, and maybe you accidentally scratch yourself while you are moving around.
I would agree with another poster who suggested that the pain likely caused the dream, not the other way around. As far as scratches go, I would suggest they were self-inflicted during one's sleep. The pain from the scratches manifested in a dream. The same would go for the headache and the dream of the car crash. It doesn't explain every claim, but fits with the vast majority.
I had a dream that I was being cut open and that my leg was being cut open, when I woke up I had a deep scratch on my leg and some of my blood had wept onto the blankets too. I still have the scars from it .
I was running trough a forest nothing was chasing me so idk why i was running trough it, and my leg got caught on a rose thorn and my heart had a tightening feeling
When i woke up my leg was cut in that exact same place and my heart still hurt....
When I was very young I woke from a dream where I distinctly remembered the metal wheels of a locomotive spinning around and around. As I faded into consciousness I became aware of something touching my eyelids and then realized it was someone with their fingertips lightly pressed against my eyelids and moving them in little circles.
It's not an experience of pain but it does help to demonstrate how external stimuli can affect the dreams we have. It would be rather premature to assume that the dream caused the physical rather than the physical stimulus manifesting in the dream.
well while journey to madras from bombay takes 2 nights and one day i was sleeping in night and ghosts caught me grabbed my throat and blocking its breathing I tried a lot to keep them way and even open eye i saw them and tried to shout but voie was went off it took a lot of fighting for the survival and escape. even open eyes when they left me disappeared, my eyes was open even before that. its all was painful to me. to escape this situatiion i did try a lot of meditation in extreme with breathe holding. now i am strong person in this case and after that this incidence did not happen.
I've never awoke with physial injuries but I have had emotionally painful dreams and woke up crying (physically).
I have had this happen a couple of times:
Luckily though not recently
In one I was running away from something, which grabbed me and woke up with bruises on one of my arms that looked like fingerprints
In another I was dreaming of my cat that had just passed away and woke up with claw marks down my face.
Most nights I am a light sleeper and know that I move around a lot and have had bruises from that but I also know that some of them I cannot explain how they got there...or the shape or size of them
I don't believe I have ever woken up with injuries but I do believe I have felt pain in my dreams. Usually it comes from dreams where I am being chased and then injured. I've felt sensations other than pain as well.
the only things i have ever woke up with is a headache and some sore muscles...not sure if its from dreaming so hard or something that happened...
I've often wondered if those dreams I have where my phone rings and then my phone actually rings is my brain predicting what will happen next or simply that the phone is ringing, my brain first incorporates the ringing noise into a dream and then I wake up.
I've just found it interesting how my dreams will suddenly lead up to what actually wakes me up. It's a constant mystery to me.
Noises and other things which can wake us are often first incorporated into our dreams before we reach a state of full wakefulness. What's the big mystery?
i had a dream about 3 days ago where i was chasing prey across a city and i was stabbed through the leg by it. i woke up with a nice cut about 2 inches across and severe pain in my leg
Have had many dreams in which pain can be felt. One of the most memorable would be one in which I was fighting another soul. However the soul in my dream was one of a person that was close to me that passed away. He kept grabbing me and digging his nails into my skin.
I woke crying and terribly upset. Still have the scars of clawing on my arm. This was a year ago that the dream happened.
i had an injury before than dreamed about it that night. it happened totally different from the way it really happened.
i one had a dream where i was blading and fell and scratched my knee and woke it the exact scratches
A dREAM i had once was I was running away from a tiger don'tknow why but I was I suddenly jumped up into a tree and the tiger jumpped up after me and his claw scratched me from the knee to the middle of my calf and why I woke up I had a cut from the knee to my mid calf and it hurt really bad and I couldn't figure out where it came from
yep. one time i had a dream that someone was holding a knife to my throat and pressing into my neck hard, and i woke up and there was a mark on my neck.
this happened to me just the other night, i had a dream i fell, from what exactly i do not know but i have had awful side pains like thats where i landed
there was a young gentleman i had a bit of a crush on....
ok i'll get to the point!
he was in my dream and he was a vampire hunter after me
when he caught me, he brought me back to a dark room with hand-cuff looking things sticking out of the wall
he fastened me to the wall and took a silver knife to my wrist
i woke up with a small scar and started researching to find any possible causes of this dream, whether i may have had a subconscious need to mutilate my arm while sleeping
no such luck!
apparently it means someone is after you
but i'm not likely to believe that
by the way
the scar has completely healed now
a year later
I would dream of a person killing me and would wake up with bruises and scratches from trying to get away from him.
Most often (if not all every time) the cut/bruise/etc. is self-inflicted, usually accidentally, and then incorporates itself into your dream. I used to manipulate my brother's dreams by taking advantage of this. It's fairly common. Dreams are often inspired by the things that happen around us while we sleep. I don't move much when I sleep, anyway, so there's not much opportunity for this phenomenon to happen to me.
I have, however, had a dream where I was run through with a saber, and woke up as it went through me. It was the most intense pain I've ever felt, and it carried over into my waking reality. No cuts, bruises, or anything of the sort. It was entirely in my head.
I had an experience similar to another user when I was about ten or so years old. I dreamt that I was levitating above my bed. Slowly, I rose to the level of the ceiling, which must have been about eleven feet up or so. The next thing I remember I was crashing onto the floor about four or five feet away from my bed. The way I see it, I rolled out of bed in my sleep, but my imagination did run wild at the time!
Something else happened once where an injury was produced, and it was right around the same time. I had a dream that I was walking through the woods and had run into a sharp part of a tree, cutting open my ankle. I continued on a bit through the woods until I was stirred to wakefulness by my father in the living room. Apparently I was sleepwalking through the house and had torn my ankle open on a sharp metal edge that protruded from the bottom of our refrigerator.
That's the extent of my dream injuries, unless you count the dreams in which I had a migraine and woke up with one, but I hardly see anything strange about that. After all, stress is stress, whether dreaming or awake.
I think alot of have had this phsyological effect on us, I awoke one morning, had been dreaming about being shot in the arm and when I awoke the pain in my arm held on for days. Ironic. but I think thiss experience has happened to most people on mother earth.
Well yes I have. My dream was I got attacked in an alley by a vampire and he pinned me up against the brick wall behind us. He had me by the throat nearly lifting me. His claws were digging in me then I tried screaming and he threw me on the ground like I was a rag doll. Then he sliced my my leg on the bottom then he went in to bite me. I screamed in agony and he pretty much bitc* slapped me and his claws got my face. That moring I woke up with a bite mark on my neck and a cut on my leg and nail marks on my neck and I had dried blood on my face with four scrape marks. And for those of you who are like well I can't explain the bite but you probably scratched yourself in the middle of the night no.... I had cut all my nails and filed them right down to the nub because I had to where I worked so someone else please give me another explination.
That would leave only one other option. It was psychosomatic. Since you were obviously in your bed, it's safe to assume you weren't really in a dark alley being attacked by a vampire. The dream was probably very vivid, and you mind made the cuts manifest on your skin. Stigmata works the same way.
in my dream i was scratched by a black cat and when i woke i found scratchs on my arm, it was really freaky, or maybe i just happen to scratch myself in my sleep i really dont know.
I dont remember what i dreamed but a month or so ago i woke up and every muscle on my body was bruised and both of knees were scratched and bruised completely. and all of that wasn't there the day before. It freaked the crap out of me.
I feel that with dreams and pain most often it is self inflicted...unless your partner is annoyed with you so that it is them who hits you when asleep.
yes ihave dreams i was in a fight and woke up sore....
i think it is pure coindence
If you wake up in pain from a dream you simply need to not be such a wuss. "walk it off!"
