I was thinking about the different conspiracy theories that I've heard of over the years, and I began to wonder what other people thought about it.

This thread is not being set up as a means to argue if any particular conspiracy theory is true or not.

So here are my questions, and if possible, perhaps, along with your responses maybe you might be able to give an example so that we know where your thoughts are coming from.

-Do you believe that the government is covering up anything of a paranormal nature, or anything having to do with aliens, or anything having to do with the archeological/evolutionary record?

-If you do, then why do you suppose the government is covering these things up? What are their motivations and what are they gaining out of the cover-up?

-Do any of the conspiracy theories that you know of affect you on any given day? How?

To reiterate- This thread is not being set up as a means to argue if any particular conspiracy theory is true or not. I am looking for personally held beliefs. So in the case of this thread, every person's personal beliefs are true to themselves and are protected from criticism from any other person's opinions or ideals.

In business, there are a lot of ways to manipulate and train your customers; our current forms of government are heavily controlled by "Big Company" capitalist ideals.

I am pretty sure that there is a lot of government management that the general population believes it is happier not knowing about; I don't think that any of it revolves arround aliens, thier technology, or the paranormal.

I will give you the example of health care. We are conditioned to believe that only "for profit" insurance companies can supply adequate health care coverage. We are led to believe that the government cannot run anything effectively. Therefore, the government should not run a single payor health insurance . Yet, in the past when the general accounting office has run the numbers, single payor comes in far less than private insurers. So who is to blame? That would be the huge, billion dollar insurance industry which has it's claws into almost all of our politicians. So is it a conspiracy? What would you call a billion dollar industry, which so controls the majority of the elected politicians that they do not care about the middle class of this country. yes, it is a conspiracy

Actually, I KNOW the government is covering things up of a paranormal/supernatural nature. They have to. There are things we are not ready to know such as how many times the government has come close to killing us all due to their ignorance and lack of self-control. Just watch the movie, The Mist.

I agree. That very much so sounds conspiritorial. It sounds a lot like the whole deal with the auto industry supressing decades-old designs for engines that are so fueal efficient that they could literally go across the US on a single gallon of fuel. It would be interesting to see how much oil money is flowing into auto industry.

Of course, with how the auto industry is bombing as of late, that says the opposite of that stance. hmmmm......

When, I was young.

We lived in Del City, Oklahoma.

We lived next to a Buddhist temple, which was cool. My parents were friends with their Americanized member.

The neighborhood was in a developing community in the suburbs/country.

Way down our road about 2 miles down was a giant fenced in field with a building half way underground. And government agents dressed in ALL black.

We would wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning to a large helicopter hovering over our house. It was about 2 feet above our roof. With the agents scanning the area.

My dad invited my uncle over for a cook out with us and his family.

They got bored and decided to see if they couldn't find out more about the facility.

They drove half way and walked the rest of the way to the fence.

Three government agents were already waiting at the fence for them.

They talked for a minute. Friendly conversation. They asked what the facility was for, they told them it was none of their business, and to leave before they shot to kill.

So they left.

My dad believes they had funny business going on there. Not aliens or anything, but either experiments, or interrogation.

Whether this is true or not one of my good friends uncles worked for the pentagon and said he knew more than the president was allowed to know. One night he had been drinking and let it slip that if the world knew what he did about aliens we would be terrified. This story was a little hard to believe but it got me thinking about it. What would the government want us to know if they saw these "aliens" or space crafts. this would make us freak out and they would have absolutely no control anymore like if only they knew. So even if this story is true to keep control they will probably keep it form us and we will never know.

I always consider the authors of such Cons. They're usually drop-out journalist majors, who have suspect credentials.

Then I consider how hard it was for the government to cover-up anything, seeing how civilian contracts are notorious for tell all books.

A majority of Con.. Theory is overcooked rephrased old news. The propritors of which are constantly turning on each other, guarding their Gravy Boat from tipping over. If you want a case study google " Why was St. Clair ousted.

The way these guys, and ladies amend these ConTheors is a clue as to how they seldomly are " concrete" on anything.

You bring up a good point, and I agree on most parts that what you are saying makes sense.
But...
It also makes sense that if the governement is a machine of conspiracy that they would actually let some of the truth out from time to time.
See if the government is known for covering stuff up, then one could assume that none of the actual information that is available is true, which would re-enforce what the skeptics think, which is that all the things that conspiracy nuts go happy about is nothing but a bunch of whooey.
That would actually allow the government to let some of the truth trickle into the main stream. All the government has to do is remain firm in their stating that none of the information is true. That would satisfy the skeptics, and leave the conspiracy folk with a just a morsel more than what they had before, leaving the main stream public to just blindly go along with what the government says that none of it is true anyway. Then the government, the skeptics, and the mainstream public could just keep their concept that all conspiracy theorists are kooks.

I have heard some tales about highly classified things slipped through family members (not mine, mind you) that worked in very classified locations just casually talking to their interested family members.

Sure Dab, I thought you were the guy that didn't beleive in anyones claims, why should somebody believe your word over another "contracted guy of the place", I dont think anyone would tell you, if there is something more or not, either way thats the excuse they say to everyone that ask the same; I just have to say when people ask the goverment for such claims, they never say no aliens, they just say military activities within the complex, but what exactly is military practices ?Maybe is the same for you and everybody else, but nobody knows what exactly that means for them, it could be military experimentation of enhansing humans by genetically engeeniered variables, weaponry, advanced spacecrafts or even aliens. Even if it is the case that the personel knows that is the only thing there "beeing a military private area" but that is that, doesn't mean he knows everything under there or have clearance on other things. It could go multiple ways.

Some things are kept from the general public due to the fact that some may not be able to deal with it. A lot will say "Well how do they know we can't handle if they haven't shown it to us?" Ok think on this, there are cameras every where you look. Big bro has got you in there sites, and will hold on to your image. The theory is also this, they have me on file and are following every move I make; in my home; driving; in the store. I am being watch because of something I've done or people I might know. We tend to start our own Conspiracy Theories, I am not saying that they are not true. Sometimes knowing certain things can get eyes on you or get you hurt. Of course things are being held from us, that's the way it is.

I been analysing this two years ago for I been given work to analyse the UFO and Aliens Phenomenon and I did start on hunt of records, I got everything the Crill Report, The Magi Controlled Eyes Blue Project Book (Photocopy of original and expandable enough to read them), I did get the most confidential records of the GAD USA - photocopy of various dept. CIA, Prdeident's Office, FBI, Its space dept I forgot the name with what it was, and other one dept. the copy was image format and expandable to read clealy. I did post tehre to my analysiis from the ancient time to the present and the nations engaged in the UFO Projects presently.

But when my oen Honorable Friend told me to delete immediately coz this might have gathering the US Govt. Peepal around me on myspace, I did delete immediately and apologise the my site owner who did put me to rechearch and analysis of this phenomenon sayng that I should not access this record from moving net...

Instnaces of the HOM raising their quest in the common house too covered in this analysis and the reply from the Govt sectors and Airforce and space departments too was included in that analysis along with proof that time. that been put coz the evidence was there and other ancient record and analysis been put in the cove of records, objects, facts and opinion....

The latest conspiracy was the UFO object cited and caught in camera at the same time in many cities in India and nearly five city situated over 1000 km the object shown on National Channel from all those cities, and even more latest 3/4 airforce planes in any country was following one UFO type Object the video capture was shoing on national news channel, I saw both and there is fire of truth to some extent in the smoke of phenomenon and kept hiding not answering this all to media or common peepal. Here the media is very stupid some time they cross there line of public and national interest in taking mileage they cross every limit until they slept by peepal such as me.

Yes, there are conspiracies in every Government and every country. Do you remember the 2000 new years? Wow, many people when and bough food and water; They hide in bunkers, waiting for the end. If our Government let a slip of these conspiracies out to the public, will be a chaos for many people, who can not comprehend anything beside their normal way of living. And Yes, many research institute and lab are controlled by our Government to perform experiment. Any question, ask PETA.

Yes, I believe they are covering it up. B/c they think the general public would flip out. Remember the fake broadcast on the radio about aliens invading earth, and it was utter pandemonium.....that was a test to see the publics reaction.

Humans as a whole don't deal well with what they don't know, one of them being the paranormal.

The goverments do cover up issues or simply refuse to acknowledge raised questions. Liability ~ A famous clause facture the president is allowed to stand innocent on.
Imagine the frantic state people would resort too if the goverments acknowledged such issues.
Of course hidding issues is only a matter of time, such as Roswell.

I'm sure there are things the government tries to cover up. Most end up seeing the light of day eventually.

I do believe the government is covering up things of a paranormal nature, and that they are doing this for our own good. I don't think the majority of the world is capable of handling something of that nature just yet.

For example, I remember hearing about a a news broad cast on a radio about aliens landing, or something of that nature, i don't remember the specific details, but it played as if it were true and the resulting hysteria was catastrophic.

So while it would be nice if the government didn't cover things up, they are doing it for our own sanity. I think a lot of people, if the found out that paranormal things really did truly exist, I don't think they could handle it.

Believe? I know the government is covering things up. In the beginning they were correct to do so. People may have panicked and that is not good. However, the means used today are not justified. People vanishing to never be heard from again and others being threatened to remain quiet about what they know. I have experienced some things, but have not been forced to stay quiet about them. I guess I'm no threat. I'm nobody special. Nobody of consequence will listen to me.

Yes I fully believe that the governments of the world have covered up things of a paranormal nature, especially in regards to aliens.

I think their motivations are 2 fold. The first being the christian belief that there is no other life in the universe that earth is all there is. And secondly I think they have hidden visitations from other planets because they believe that the human race isn't ready for such information.

The only way a conspiracy theory affects me is that I don't trust the government. When the cover things up to protect themselves or to create a war with another nation.
Other than that I live my life, listen to the theories, believe those that fit in with my beliefs and just nod my head prettily when I don't understand a thing that is going on.

Illuminaria - Thanks for the link. That was very interesting. I've heard of the Bilderberg Group before, but I can't remember where. People with that much money and power freak me out.

EthanolEmiliee - Good point. That broadcast you were mentioning was the original broadcast of "War of the Worlds" It was presented in a news-like format. Pretty visionary if you ask me, but that's beside the point. There was a panic that resulted from that.
I agree that many people wouldn't be able to handle news of aliens and the like, because everyday my belief in human herd mentality is reinforced, and "my god!" are there a lot of truly stupid humans roving about.
Its unfortunate, because I know I could deal with that kind of knowledge.

NecroNephilim - I agree that the means utilized in these cover-ups is over the top. The thing is that our government has not matured all that much since the early years of the 20th century. Just look at the whole same-sex marriage debate for further proof of that.
I myself, have never been privy to anything of any national importance, but I have seen cover-ups on a local level (mountain lions in town and cities here, which the media and the government both heartily deny, eventhough I have seen photographic proof taken by someone extremely close to me).
My thought is that the governement lets just the right people know certain things, and just enough of them for their stories to somewhat match up, and someone might then call out conspiracy, but the majority of people are sheep enough to our government that they over-rule those people as crazies.

xLorex - Thank you for your response. I agree with you about the motivations, but I think that private interest groups probably have way more to do with these types of things than any of us realize.
Examples-
Engines that can go a thousand miles on a gallon of fuel. Medications that cure diseases that the pharmaceutical companies make a vast majority of their money on. The suppresion of a machine built over a hundred years ago that could cure over a thousand diseases, including cancer.
The nod and smile response is a good way to keep yourself safe from unwanted scrutiny. Otherwise you might have to keep an eye out for black helicopters and such.

And there's so many techniques at "their" disposal to control us: the usage of subliminal messages in advertising, which just blows me away that the government actually allows for it; the distribution of tax dollars into areas that big corporations want them; statements of morality made by heads of church and state...

It at times could make a person wonder exactly how much personal control one actually has over their own life. How many of your natural everyday decisions is not a natural conclusion to events set up by the desires of others?

Its wierd, I'll tell you.

I don't know about conspiracies in the government. I believe there is alot they know that they will keep from the general public. I am sure alot would have to do with national security.

I do feel though that we are puppets in society. The government controls the fact that we have to wear seatbelts, smoking being banned in public places, hell they even control TV now with everyone having to switch over to digital. They can tell us what to do, when to do it and how. They are the ones in control so I believe that they only tell us what they want us to know.

There are more than enough true conspiracies to go around. They might involve the govenment, the church, big business, or simply personal interest groups.
On the other hand, not every conspiracy theory is based on fact or truth. Just believing something does not make it so.
Elvis, Hitler, Michael Jackson, John Kennedy, and Jesus Christ might all be sitting on a patio in Mexico drinking Coronas and watching the ocean, but I doubt it.
So yes, I believe in the idea of conspiracy theories but I don't buy into every one.

Psychologically whether a particular conspiracy has validity or doesn't, people want one thing they will never have and that is absolute access. When, even if for legitimate reason certain aspects of a story are kept on the hush hush, people automatically assume that there is a conspiracy. Also, humans look for order in chaos. Example, the JFK conspiracy no one wants to believe that one of the greatest americon heroes could be taken out by a a person like oswald. It doesn't make sense to some that the mob wasn't involved, or Castro its just not acceptable for someone so great to be knocked off by something/someone so insignificant.We as humans create, it is who we are, we love a good story. Perception isn't necessarily reality, facts do matter and I think certain matters are still open because people want them to be. Of course there are mysteries, but not everything is one either. Questions are healthy but you just wont ever get access to area 51, and of course there is a reason why that makes sense. Life is complicated enough without having to scrutinize the moon landing. And then there are the people who get all their information on conspiracy theories from documentaries. Who among us wouldn't go "holy shit" after watching loose change? it is very convincing and especially if you are someone already suspicious of the big bad government. Then you make the mistake of going "hey they lied in the past!" one set of "facts" are presented then their quick rundown of what the "others" think. How can the ordinary person deal with dueling facts? that is where personal commitment to a subject comes in, that is where conflict becomes clarity.

I believe they are covering up paranormal things because people are just to stupid. Humans destroy things they dont understand so why cause ciaos of it can be prevented?
The conspiracy theories dont affect me at all except when I say the government has gone to the toilets because they think they are protecting us and in some ways they are but in so many ways they aren't

Wouldn't be comical if we were actually being led by the government to be suspicious of Area 51, JFK assasination, and other conspiracy theories to keep us preoccupied and not searching for answers for even more amazing conspiracies.

In the end what can you do but laugh at it? it will never be resolved mostly people not the government will keep pushing and wont let go of "back, and to the left" because, hey, it sounds like it makes all the sense in the world. Governments lie and cover up for many different reasons, maybe it isn't all malevolent, maybe it is. I just think there are too many people who go with whatever the opposite is, just because it's the opposite.

Questions questions, but about the moon landing? that is the kind of stuff that makes me wonder. Something like that where they go ah ha you cant see the stars on the tape! and then any person with a basic understanding of light says "um, hello you cant see stars in a brightly lit city for the same reason" and when you try to argue that, something that insanely obvious it has almost become a pointless task to even address anything else. I think that may be part of it, credibility fades. It's like an overload. After you answer a question so many times with a more logical answer and it keeps on, you say, screw it. Do we not elect, over and over again, the same people?
And does it really matter if they are covering up certain things? Does it matter whether or not Jesse James or Billy the Kid were killedthey way they were supposed to have been killed or actually died in the 1950's? What would it change now if Oswald wasn't the only shooter? What if there were aliens in Area 51? Even if these things could be proven false the conspiracy theories would continue. And we would continue to miss the most important misuses of power and information because we were continuing to seek answers to questions that really don't affect us.

Well, I think who we elect is only partially up to us in the sense that we only get a choice between those who run and those who run have similar ambitions etc but that is another story. The government as a whole is not something that can easily change no matter who is elected. And that's what I was thinking all along I suppose, that in the end we wont know a lot of things but I do think when you look into any matter its hardly ever 50/50 in each direction, and I just have to go with the 51 over the 49 sometimes. It's a cazy world.

Bilderberg group: Yes, there are members from around the world that have build an entire scenerio around our worlds (NWO) agenda. I have names for every year since A.D. 2000.

Bohemian Grove: Yes, there are members within the presidency that journey to the Grove every year. It is more like boyscouts for the rich and powerful. Even if some of the members are Freemason, the fraternity has nothing to do with the Grove itself.

Trilateral Commission: They may be part of the (NWO) conspiracy. It is suggested so.

Rothschild: A very big conspiracy surrounding this area. It is noted that certain esoteric rituals go on behind the closed doors of the castle itself. Skulls and the drinking of blood come into play.

Patriot Act and 9/11 Commission Report: What about building 7?????? Explain this one!

Area 51, Advanced Beings, Dimensional Travel, and NASA: Could all be connected, after all it was Buzz Aldron that declared "Santa Clause is alive and well." just after he came back from his mission to orbit.

As far as the alien cover ups, the big freak out that the government does not want society to know, is that on the other side of the moon (Dark Side), there is proportedly an alien base that has huge aircraft that seem to be compared to at least 2 Star Trek Enterprise vessels. "Enormous ships that came out to greet the shuttles that go exploring for orbit around the moon."

The Amero (NWO) rumoured to debute within the next couple of years as a change of currency from what we have today into a union between America, Canada and Mexico. This relates to a one world currency.

Subliminal Messaging and the AntiChrist: There is so much of that information going around. Rumour has it that a new King Arthur will make his appearance known at the 2012 London Olympics. After all, One of the Royales does have a coat of armes that closely resembles the biblical antichrist. "Don't say I didn't warn you."

I definitely believe that the Government is covering up many things. Aliens for sure. There's no way we are the only living creatures in the Universe. They also may be covering up experiments with mind power, like that movie 'Fire Starter." Thats just a for instance, not so people can say its fake, because it was at the time. I believe the cover ups are to protect the public. Ther would probably be mass panic is these things were revealed.

I definitely believe the government has secrets of paranormal events and things like extrat.'s. There is proof enough because they fund lots of paranormal research in many fields, we also see some studies they do with twins etc. Plus the medical and psychology fields have their extremes involved in paranormal.

My husband and I believe the reason we have so many alien and extraterrestrial movies is because the government has their hands on some stuff.

Look at it this way. When invention companies create a tv do you think they stop there? No. They improve and have the next several models lined up to come out in the next several years. There is no telling what else they have their hands in.

personally. i think that the government should reveal everything they have ever kept from us. Even tho there would probly be a general panic. I thinkit would help us as a human race evolve. In tecnology and mentally. I think they should prepare us for what ever is out there. The government has been covering up so much for so long. That some has leaked out and some hasn't. I think that if the government would just conferm what they have been covering up. It would put our minds at ease. More so than the lies they have been feeding us. But this is my opinion.. We the people deserve to know the truth.

I too believe that the government should inform the public, but on the other hand I can see, by just observing people I encounter on a day to day basis, why the gov feels the need to block some individuals from the truth. there are still so many people out there that are just too close-minded and/or moronic, if not, just plain willingly ignorant people out there in this world.
