I let my dog out the back (my house and a church sit on a 45 degree angle) while waiting for my dog the wind picked up. I was looking at the stained glass windows and I heard a wailing sound from within the church. I swear I saw a bright light fly past each window with the speed of the wind...to me it seemed like some evil had been banished... but I am sure there is a logical explanation. If anyone has any logic as to what I heard and think I saw, post it here.
Thanks!
Priest with flashlight; kids vandalizing; could have even been a power surge if stormy. You never know...lol.
grins i have a very open mind i would like to believe it was what i thought in the first place but i know that there are a few VR members here that like to pick brains on topics like this. i know i can lock my experience up inside my brain and heart of hearts and make it anything i want it to be :) yes it would be boring if logic led the way all the time ... no i just had to let the dog out at that early/late hour depending on your sleeping style and i probably would not have seen or heard a thing had my timing been off a bit it was wicked though
Everything must have a logical explanation :D
Sometimes our mind just plays with us and then we think that we've seen something amazing.. but in the end you only get disappointed when you realize that it was just a shadow or something like that..
If a window was left open anywhere in the church even a crack it could allow for the wind to enter and cause a hanging light fixture to move around and stained glass itself might make the noise if parts of the lead have come loose or cracked.
If the dog wasn't going nuts trying to get into the church or get away from it then I'd think it was a natural caused effect.
I thnk the sound was wind for sure and the light were most likely someone in the church or someone like teens doing pranks.
It could be something of the paramormal. but of course it could be very plausible that teh wind got in and was blowing a lamp fixture around
Maybe they had a light on in the church.. i am not a church goer so i dont kow how long churches are open but maybe somene was checking on the church at the time..
Any distant light source could have been directed to pan over the churches exterior. Some high beams are strong enough to cast light of of a few distant
Objects.. Wind can " wail", "moan", and even " screech" around older buildings ( an effect that, together with crafty placed light sources can be very entertaining around grave yards).
It shows you that you can extrapulate amusement from mundane occurances, I like to psyche myself on naturally occuring things as well.
New shadows are my favorite, my friends sister will never hang out with us at night time gatherings because of my past shadow play, or simple suggestive intepretation.
I have to agree that it was most likely the wind and especially if the church is an older one. As for the lights it could be anything; someone in the church for whatever reasons. Possibly it could have been the reflection of car lights or something like that you saw since you say the light sort of swept by the windows.
It could possibly be whatever you deemed it to be. You could always talk to the preacher about what you saw.
it could be paranormal like you think.
or it could have been the perfect storm of wind & a light source
i reeally liked the fallen star theary and got to laugh dabbler knew you would be here 2 thumbs up wish i could see your shaddow play , good one dog would have seemed a bit strange after something like that. very cool ideas thoe
i wish i could draw you guys a map of my seroundings there are two fire halls with in 2 blocks my back door opens to the church parking lot above me on the hill about 3 blocks up is a big cemitary and 2 blocks to one direction is another cemitary then our LOL great hospital and get this i can see 4 steaples of churchs with in walking distance for me and i cant go far with my lung disease i know my house is close to 150 years old and the church is older
A very convincing atmosphere, rest assure that any Geist, Ghost, or Apparition is settled at the location of their demise, or in proximity of loved ones. Within most paranormal circles this is accepted.
That is an atmousphere of conductivity. By exercising a bit of creativity in your yard, you can project your own Geist.
Sometimes, our eyes refocus and absorb more light than it needs within a split second. Occasionally, we might see this as a flash of light or a kind of hovering light that fades out as our eye filters properly, again. Or not?
It could be as simple as the priest cleaning his books,
or somthing and a spider fell off the cealing on his neck,
and he grabbed the candel or a flashlight..and screamed
like a ghostly girl.
LOL humm i dont think at that hour but who knows spider scarying a priest i think i might have actually wanted to see that up close and personal but dare i say it is true i get creeped out in that big old church when i got to buy candles for my mother ewah!!!
dabbler may be you can give me a few ideas... i just made my own sun dile in the front yard and a rock garden made with many crystals :P
it would almost seem logical ( to me ) that someone was doing a cleansing or helping a troubled spirit (s) passover , if this were the case some one who is sensitive to the paranormal a medium and so on so froth , would have been able to see this . or it could have been a loved one you lost trying to connect with you .
My first question would be "is there traffic nearby?"
maybe a tail light reflected off of the glass as it whizzed by at the speed of wind.
Could a helicopter have done this to much of the same effect? they make odd noises too.
I would have to agree with an earlier post. If the dog wasn't reacting to this, it is reasonable to believe it was just the wind and some manufactured lighting.
I live (basically) right across the street from Waverly Hills Sanatorium and I don't hear anything as often as one might think.
it's whatever you thought it was. most of the time, supernatural phenomenon are nothing more than what we expect to be seeing.
The noise I would say was the wind and the light was just something that was reflected through the windows. But who am I to judge as I was not there. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs so I will not discount what you thought it may have been as that was your own personal experience.
There is no such thing as logical speculation. And as only speculation is possible in attempting to explain that which I have not witnessed and for which very little information is provided, all of which is highly subjective to only one person's observation, a logical response to this question is simply not possible.

i would go with what your soul is telling you it is...do you know what the church was built on.
If indeed it was early morning, or late at night, then it can be reasoned that
The neigborhoods usual cacophany was silenced, and the common bustle stilled, one is much more likely to take note of incidental motion, or light. And lower project audio.
Have nobody explored the option that she could be allusinating.. dreaming or adding up?? its 3:00 am'ish' right... People do that to invite false possibilities of what could only be personal sightings: you say lights and sounds, why does it have to be 'evil' spirits out of the church at that time?...Unless the priests work overnight to release evil spirits of people? or the church deliberately cast spirits out of nowhere... I can only see that-Imagination and allegorical beliefs are separated by a very thin line, and explaining the 'logic of this' and concurring to evil spirits vanishing the church 3 am by interpretations of wind sounds and unexplained light displays sounds really offseted in the word "LOGIC".
long hour and days with out sleep and a dog who whines to go out is very annoying LOL as i only want sleep i drag my self to let this beasty out at what ever hour he claims he has to go sometimes he sits at the bottom of the steps and gets me to play footnall no halluanating.
Liv that sounds like one hell of a thing to witness. I envy you! I agree with a few posts... that in life there can't be an obvious and logical explanation for every little thing. Takes the fun out of everything :D I think it was a supernatural event and I would enjoy it as such. :D
Take it as what you believe it to be, that's what life's about. Believe what you want to believe it's what makes life interesting, If you try to make everything seem logical, then there's no imagination or fun.
Since you asked for a logical explanation, maybe you were really tired and saw something that wasn't there, the eyes do sometimes play tricks on people.
But I like the idea of it being out of the norm and of something from another realm or so....
There are many explanation as what really happen. If you look the incident from a normal point of view, then you will think that someone got inside the church with a flashlight, let say, the church's keeper, and the light flashed the window. Now, looking the incident in a different point of view, let say, in the paranormal atmosphere, then we can concluded that evil forces produce the light at the church. When evil and good go against each other, many things always happen, and for the normal human being, these things are impossible to believe.
I agree. The first and only way to investigate anything out of the normal is to rule out things. Hopefully towards the end of your investiagtion you only have a few ideas left.
This problem could of been a number of things, light reflection by the moon, cars, torches or anything of that nature.
As with the 3am well that could be just luck of the draw. I feel that ppl look far to deep into things to find an answer when there could be no reason at all just a happening.
i feel like a magnet for many things supernatural i try to logic things out first i been plagued with expirances sence the age of three and seems like no matter where i move i attract more and more activiety . most of which is not malevolent
Call the Ghost Hunters! No, I'm just teasing.
I have to agree with dabbler here, before you let yourself run wild on the theory of a ghost, it could be passing headlights, truck breaks screeching, wind wailing a pitch etc. etc.
But if your really curious, set up your own video camera to record that church every night for 30 days. Mark and collect evidence. Then maybe you will finally know.
If something does show up frequently, then call a team, as many will investigate for free.
I'm sure it was something simple like lights of a car passing by and just the wind howling.
Did you happen to ask the local pastor to see if they were doing an exorcism at that time?
