This is kind of a continuation of the now-closed thread that Maximillion started since the conversation turned towards defining what a Dark Path actually is.

So what do you think? Is it as simple as Dark=LHP and Light =RHP? Or do you see it differently? Do you even believe that spirituality can be and/or is divided into these distinctions?

I personally don't think that anything is either dark or light. For example you hear black or white magick. Well in my opinion there is no black or white magick there is only magick.
What you do with it is your option but you must know what you are playing with first. Magick is only what the one using it makes of it. I see all paths the same. I feel that there is only life and it is up to you what decisions you make and how you choose to live your life and what path you choose. I don't know if this made sense to anyone but me but this is the only way I could think to type this out... It makes sense in my head. lol.

I think a dark path is more of a way of life just as a light path is and that you make your choices and stick ot them on this path...more of a lifestyel than a path.

As I said in the previous thread, I don't really see a huge difference between such paths. Save, to say that the 'Dark Path' explores the idea of rational self interest over sacrifice. Magically speaking it's toned more at the idea that man can be, if not dominant, controlling of nature well enough to suit the personal needs of the practitioner.

This 'Light Path' is seen, by at this writer, as being based more in the concept of self-sacrifice, ultimately. And geared at the idea that Nature is above man, and that it would be a detriment to exploit or otherwise manipulate nature. That of the Earth or other people.

Most of these say that to do so is to bring about Karmic repercussions. This is yet another point where dark and light differ. In the dark eyes, the repercussions are not that great, unimportant, or don't exist at all.

It all boils down to intention and how others choose to percieve it I think. In the end, all that really matters is what you think though. A path is a path, and if it's the right one for you it is the more brightly lit of the former because you relate to it. The dark has it's candle holders as well.

I agree with some saying magic is magic, yet if one dosn't choose what to do wit it and/or what path to take magic can seem pretty useless.I think most things are in fact black and white.Everything is something and something is everything, it cannot be said if something is balck to considered it be white neither it can be vise-versa.

well, spiritual beliefs very...naturally...but i do believe that u can go either way

I already explained what in my opinion the Dark Path is.

For me it's nocturnal witchcraft that has nothing to do with evil but I may be wrong.

As for good and evil I don't think the Light path just cause there's the word light in it is necessary all good.

Then I would mention the Left hand path that might be evil.It is to be your own god which by most is believed to be evil.

In my opinion is not,why not having a god is evil????

I think all of them have good and evil in them.

Cause what appears cannot necessary mean is true...

Oh and then I would say can't you be spiritual and neutral?

Or just use your gifts depending upon the situation?

well i think we all follow a twisted path that weaves in and out of the lihght and dark unless you put forth a concieous effort to one path

i believe you are drawn to one..... meaning both simply because without dark there is no light. which ever side you choose to embrace does not nesacarily
choose your lifes path..... out of religion and beliefs i believe every soul has a purpose..... whatever that may be the mortal mind may never concept until it has reached a certain peak and is ready.
dwelling on the subject tends to add on to the infinite questions released to the world..... just live your life and do as you see fit.

dark and light paths can mean alot of things to some and other things to another... the paths of darkness is what you make of it .. the light of the path is what we follow but one wrong turn could lead into darkness

I believe that you choose your own path whatever it may be, but I do believe that there are some in this world that have chosen a dark path,( the path away from the ways of us who know right from wrong) and that is their choice.

depends some think "VAMPIRES" are the dark path.....some feel that criminal or chaotic behavior is the dark path...

i believe that no one can really define a "path" i think you make your own way in this world be it the darker ways or the light... its all in how the particular person chooses to live....the words dark and light are just lables to me any how

I generally think the terms are gross over simplifications. You can use them, but just understand that the reality is infintely more complex then Dark = Self Serving or Light = Sacrifice or however you wish to describe them. Personally, I prefer Balance. I suppose one would call it the Grey Path if I chose a name for it.

i dont think that there is a difference in a "dark" path and a "light" path...i think that the path we on is a constant change and there is no need for light and dark to come into play

I totally think that there is a difference in a light and dark path.. Having seen and done both, there is a dramatic difference.. I cannot see how anyone can say they are the same thing.. They are opposites of each other.. They may all me majik, but opposite none the less.

While some see light as positive and Dark as negative, I on the other hand see them as a two that can be balanced for I believe that we carry both light and dark traits. Imo, it just wouldn't be possible to have one without the other.

Dark Vs Light, Good Vs Evil, Black Vs White…..Call it what you wish but the path of ones self beliefs is based on many things. The choice is yours and what will satisfy your inner needs. I prefer to be Gray since I have been down both paths and tend to use them when needed.

Dark and Light are both nice and have very little to do with "good" and "evil". I like both dark and light and am a generally good peron

Seriously though, it all seems to be very relative. I'll throw one out myself; maybe Light Pathers are those who have hope in the basic goodness of humanity, and Dark Pathers know better.

you are perfectly right Enigma short and sweet and to the point let me add to it all things are natural and have been around from the beginning nothing is new the Gods and Goddesses gave us these different abilities as a choice as to whether or not we want to use them

in mexico a diablero is protrayed as evil but is doing nothing harmful they only practice the sorcery handed down from them with the intent to keep intune with all things sacred but because someone doesn't understand it they fear it and call it evil to that person it may be evil but is it really evil no it is just as natural as love, happiness, cooking, spitting on the ground and belching

And I must add that the LHP is no way near the same as following a Dark path.

it is not about weather it is dark (like nihgt) or light (like day)...it is where it is going to carry you. It is a dark path if that path leads to temptation, sin, and lost chances...when it is a light path i you are headed for some things that i will not get into but mainly ya know like achieving your goals and stuff

I belive that there is no light or dark path theres is just a indivual and their choice. Easy as that.

I think that Dark and Light are subject to personal opinion, and I don't think a person can be particularly one thing.

The Dark Path turns inward, upon oneself, in a way that becomes psychologically cancerous. There is growth, but of a malignant sort. The Light Path turns outward, toward others, in a way that becomes psychosocially catalytic. There is a development here, too, but it is a development of something greater than onself.

I didn't get to read the first thread about this, but I have to say there is always a dark and light side to everything weather it be vampires, wicaans, or anything else for that matter...

The concept of ‘good and evil’ or light and dark’ are only definitions made up by man in an attempt to try to define and control an unknown world around him. When in true what we use as a moral guideline is nothing more then what we ‘feel’ to be good or evil.

the truth of the matter is that its all based on perception. Dark is only dark because you see it that way.

I mean to some people Magick and Vampires, and being goth is dark and ookie. Not to me. Its warm and comforting. But I see shiney happy people as the root of all evil.... i think it depends on perception. Nothing is black or white everythings kinda gray

Picture this you are "IT"...G-D, G-dess, etc... do you have a need to percieve anything as either and if so then why are we here, to experience and personally percieve... In the end "we" as the collective will no not a "good" or "bad", those are christian societies' perceptions not ours...

There is no set path as set by such people as Konstantinos or those that preceeded him. Different people have different tendancies to be as they are. Some are willing to use such powers as magick to their own selfish needs and this is just the individual persons take on it, so hense surely there is only "magick", its how it is used that defines the user.

Dark, Light. Good,bad..just depends which side of an event that you are on at the time. It all comes down to each persons opinion.

But to define what is Dark and what is light is a matter of view point. A person will define things differently depending on if the situation is happening to them or they are doing it to someone else.

I agree (depends on the person and the situation) Everyones idea or opinon of dark and light may be different. I beleve its all up to you and how you perceive it and how it make you feel.

I believe the light and dark path...are what ones person opinion says you are. If oneself says your on the dark path then you are to them. But if they say your on the light path then you are to them that is. It's your choice to say what path you are on.

I believe in positive and negative energies. Nothing is simply middle ground. Its just that everything in nature has learned how to balance those energies, hence making gray. As for black and white, those are just the extremes and are rarely, if ever, found.

I think nature is in the middle, no thought just action. It can not be good or bad, it just is. We justr have opinions on its effects

tere is a light and a dark path.....and threre is a difference. as for the concept of magic is magic, there is a difference in the magic. I wear Black Robes, I walk the dark path, and I do black magic. but that's just me

Pretty much how I see it. Do what needs to be done.

I see it as a choice no matter how you were raised its still your choice in the end if you want to be good or evil.

LHP is the light and dark, it is everything. it is the one thing that will keep humanity living.

I believ ein dark & light, b/c I feel everything is about balance. And if you have one w/o the other, it would be insanity.

i guess there is no strict dark and light path or dark and light soul... its not like in the movies where someone contains pure evil and someone pure good...

everyone of us has good an bad sides some have more bad ans some more good... its like that... but everyone loves someone and thats the point that proves that no one can be pure evil and on a dark path..
and everyone of us hates someone sometime or gets into a angry and destroying mood.. that prooves that there is no pure light path..

i think there is a dark and light, but i dont think there is a pure light and dark, one cant survive without the other

Very true. Without one how could we identify the other. We need a point of reference.

I think the path we take can not be determined as good or bad but only as our path. If we sit back and judge others then what are we? We then become no better then the government and all the people that oppress others. At that point we are self’s become “evil".

in my opinion there is no such thing as a dark path or a light path that people walk......you are what is inside of you......if your heart or soul is dark then that is what you are and vice versa for the light side

I think whatever "path" you choose is right technically if you truly believe in it.... others may not believe in it and say that you're on the wrong path but to you it's the right one.... Everything is relative..

it is your own choose to feed for power or to serive

who actually sets the standards for good or evil? or light or dark? i think we all have different perceptions of either two
