I was just wondering if anyone here is a Christian. If you are can you please tell me how your vampire life effects your religious believes.

Let me re-do that....any of the "main stream" religions. I'm kinda studing on this topic and just want to other people's thoughts on it.

While I claim no title,lable etc I would like to address this.
I myself am a Christian, the Bible itself makes no mention of "vampires" however it does say not to drink blood. This is in the Old Testement which has little to do directly with Christianity except as a history book. Higher Church doctrin recognizes this,therfore a person who is a true Vampire is not in contradication with the actual faith. We must remember that what a man says has little bearing in what the Word says.

Vampirism is as a culture a conglomeration of unique individuals and groups with thier own ideas and philosophies. While the Judeo beliefs have a more rigid set of guidlines Christianity according to the New Testement is much more open. The words of Christ are after all universal truths which have been echoed accross the centuries by many both before and after him.

Well, I think vampirism has nothing to do with religion. I'm studying alot of the mainstream belief systems, and I don't believe it is a "sin against god", "unholy", or grotesque. There were worse things to come out of history than those who took little blood, and energy. At least we don't persecute against others, we've had no spanish inquisition. There's no conversion, and there is no religious figurehead to pay homage to....But as a Jew, there really is no real controversy there, as Jews are pretty easy-going, as long as health is taken into account....sorry fot the ramblingness....

I do agree that closeminded people suck...literally.....too many of them in the morman community here...I already get enough crap for being Jewish....

Progrssive Judism for the most part simply asks that you remember health and lead a good life thus Vampirism really would not be much a an issue depending on the type. Islam as a faith does come in direct conflict with it. As I said Christianity is mute on the idea. Buhddism, Hinduism and several other eastern religions asks that you remember the sanctity of human life and respect it. However they also are mute on the subject, unless you feel guilty then you are in the wrong.

That's true, I almost forgot that, but some catholic officials take the lack of textual evidence to mean that something may be sinful, the devil's work, or even against god's design. I've had a catholic preist kicked my best male friend out of church and told him he was going to hell because he's gay! I love him to death, and I can't believe that religions that priest neighborly intentions and kindness could do something like that to their own people! Not to dig on Catholisism.....

I am a huge fan of Catholisim and indeed organized Christian religion however as you know we must seperate the Words of Christs or in your case the Holy Texts from the perversions of man. On the topic of homosexuality the main argument against it is in the OT, which actually is talking about respect and being in the OT it is as a matter of fact not directly related to Christianity and in the NT it is Paul that talks about it, even today the Church is still out on whether or not he was a true man of God or a mad man. Live a good life worship God (topic is religion remember?) and follow his words then being gay, a vampire, or dare I say IRS official and you'll be ok.

People always create and personalize their belief systems. Does not matter what they are or for what. However the VR policy is very clear, no threads about Christianity.

I do not consider myself a vampire, and I am a practicing Christian. As has been ststed above, there are no specific instances I know of in the New Testament that refer to vampirism. The only possible refferance is the last supper, which I believe is symbolic / spiritual only.

The Old Testament prohibitions agains blood consumption are in the same area and context where homosexuality is mentioned as being abhorant to God. This same area also forbids eating pork, shellfish, reptiles and also makes one "unclean" if they touch a dead body or a woman during her monthly cycle. Christ's new covenant made these prohibitions under "The Law" moot.

As long as the vampire in question only fed from willing donors, I see no reason they could not lead a "Christian" life.

I am definitely going to have to go with KCRC on this one, although I do observe the no pork or shellfish portions. I do not see a conflict as long as both parties are willing.

an amazing topic... while I always considered vampires to be of a "religious" sort, I never thought of them as being "Christian". Very interesting!

I think the only problem with being a vampire and having a religion is your belief system. Killing to survive is against any religion. This is why vampires of the medival times...showing in so many of the movies, show the vampire going through a guilty conscious. Killing is wrong, but not feeding is suicide, which is also deemed wrong....

Talk about messing with your mind.

I think if you practice any religion, you draw strength from it. From prayer, meditation, fellowship, study, etc.

Although I do not drink blood (personally..EWWW!) but I do draw energy from others when I share time with them. I think it is one and the same.

I think religion and vampirism do not necessarily intertwine. If your religion is your way of life, you might have to make some sacrifices - but it depends on your religious doctrine. However, if your religion is just that, and does not dictate your lifestyle, I think it is perfectly possible to be both a vampire and, for example, a Christian. Your vampirism does not tell you anything about God, does it? Unless you violate some religious principle - like killing your donor while feeding or something - you can stay in keeping with your religious principles.

While I am not personally a Christian, I have known several Christian/Catholic vampires over the years.

Because vampirism is a condition of the body, it doesn't have anything to do with you religious beliefs. To me, it's like connecting your diabetes with your religion. Why would you?

I'm not Christian either. But it's interesting.
It really depends on how far you take your religion - if you eat, sleep, and breathe it, and live it to the word, there may be some conflicting interests. But still, it depends on the religion.

Oh... and the reincarnation thing, if you believe in that, may conflict with religious doctrine.

Since childhood I believed that the human race were not alone. It is a feeling that I still have, I am also believe that we all created by GOD. No matter what kind of being you are. We have to feel that Higher Power is all around us. I come from a Catholic and Baptist background. My mother asked me about things that I believe in and I tell her the same, " there is more than what we see around us." The unseen is all around.

I personally think that most of the world is still in the dark about the real world and its hard to accept what you dont understand. Its a matter of people with a lack of awareness.

I consider myself a christian, and yes I've had some (very few) people judge me on my appearance at church. That, to me, is in direct opposition of what should be happening there, so I just stick to my guns. I've made my peace with my creator, and I believe he created me to be who I am.

i was rasied christian , and i was rasied by a roman catholic mom who was pretty open and it didint mind what i did so for me there was nevr a issue it was more like a life style that fit into what i needed

I am an atheist... so religion has no effect or affect on me or my life. Everyone believes what they wish and I cherish that about life or unlife for that matter. :)

I am a blue blooded LeVayian Satanist, and I guess in a way my draw toward vampirism is stronger because of it.

Well I went to theocratic ministry school and found that it only gave me the basis for studying other religions to see the links between so many of them. I find it has no affect on my life as a vampyre because that is who I am the religions are only something that I have studied

Well Vampyrism really is one thing and religious belief another. Like any other subculture there are all beliefs. If you want to talk to a well known Christian Vampyre you should speak to Heaven Bound from Bloodlines International.

I'm Christian raised but I've been looking for something that fits better. I have found the wiccan way of life is better suited for my true beliefs. but before I found wiccan it wasn't to hard to seperate my two lifestyles. I more or less act christian for my parents sake!

Well, I am a Christian, but I'm not a vampire. I love to learn about vampires, though. I also study the bible very hard, too, since I don't go to church.

And so far from my research, there's not much from stopping somebody from being a Christian vampire.
In fact, there is a passage that deals with the people of the dark:


"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined." Isaiah 9:2

It does say that you aren't suppose to drink blood, but I haven't actually read that in the bible myself. I'll have to look it up. I have this book where I can look up a topic and it will tell me where to find it. I haven't considered looking up vampirism (sp?) yet.

I guess it's fine, it all depends on the person's beliefs.

But one thing I don't appreciate is people thinking that you're not suppose to be even interested in vampires and the dark when you're a Christian.
I have personally been in a situation where somebody on this very site said I wasn't suppose to be on this site because I was Christian. I hate those kind of people! >_

I Was Raised Christian Also, But Now Im Wiccan (Various Reasons). I Think That Its Just The Way That You Live Your Life, Religion Is A Neccesity For Some People But It Doesn't Mean That It Will "Damn" Them For Livng How They Feel Correct

My family is christian. The reason I did not follow the same path is due partly to the fact that they tried to shove it down my throat at an early age. The other part of the reason is that I noticed most of them are very closed minded. They are conditioned to think that anything not "holy" is a bad and evil thing. I had a fanatic tell me I was going to hell for holding hands with a boy... No thank you. I want no part of that. And it's because the rest of my family is this way that I don't talk to them anymore. I take care of my siblings as best I can and no more.

My family is strong Irish Catholic for the record...

I dont see why Christians would have anything against Vampirism anyway, don't members of the Christian faith once a week drink the blood of their saviour?

I was in several religion and culture (lucky me smiles) and I would say that vampirism is seen deferently but not alot.
Most of them see it as a "bad thing" Others as a "do not speak about that" Or" Its all in your or their heads" And of course"Its only in the movies"
And I would not ridicul any religion as I have been in many and was always into vampirisms even when I was in one that states strict rules and a stric lifestyle with no paranomral allowed and other similar things and lifestyle of the gothic and vampire, still it was just the way they act and beleive and the base of their choice of lifestyle its the same as for us who chose this one here. So it all depend again on the base of the beleif,the individual and the surounding also the influence of his/or her past

This is a really interesting discussion question. I agree that religion has nothing to do with being a Vampire, but it could cause a problem going to mass in the morning!!!

I think religion has caused enough grief and problems in life. But people have the right to be a vampire and follow whatever religious belief they have. It is society that tells us we aren't allowed to do that.

I believe that its important to accept both your light and dark halves of your soul to achieve true spiritual enlightenment so... for those practicing both well done!

i was born cathlic and i was never accepted and never understood why i believe there is a god but they have both cast me out when i came into vampirism i could no longer step into a place of worshipi felt i was in a bad place very uncomfortable i found my true religion and was accepted with open arms and started in grey magic i no longer believe in prayer or a higher being there is no other life than that of a vampire

I think that it is a contradiction when someone says there a vampire but also christian.

I'm Catholic and I don't claim to be a vampire nor have I ever participated in most of what a supposed vampire does...I know vampirism exists but I don't believe in it.

I was raise Catholic too but I always felt the call of the night. Don't believe one has to do with the other. One, you are born into and the other you are raised in.

Religious beliefs and practicing vampirism are both individual decisions. I personally don't believe in most organized religions today...alot are hypocrytical in many ways...and the commericialism of the churches (from all types and denomination) here in this area makes me sick. I believe in God and I have my own ways and lifestyle. Ultimately, it is not for anyone here on earth to judge and decide what is right or wrong when it comes to lifestyle decisions whether is people sexual preference or the desire to practice vampirism. I try to be the best person I can daily and thank my creator for my existence and share that with others.

fanatics are a strange strange breed.. ..honestly. .i was classified as christian my whole life and was even baptized.. the more i knew and found out about this glory of god thing.. the more confused i got.. my parents are christ-lovers and im their satan daughter.. so i guess.. the best way to put it is that...

there are those who feel vamps should just burn on the cross.. or that we are not real.. merely figments of some extreme imagination..

theres to much negativity in most main stream religions and it saddens me to see more and more youths get caught up in that "you gotta get saved" bs.

While I am not personally a Christian, I have known several Christian/Catholic vampires over the years. and they never had any problems.. you can like something of the vampire nature i guess long as it doesnt come up in chruch

I believe in not a single religion, but take from different religions those things that I find are closest to what I desire. And vampirism had some aspects to it that fascinate me.

I tend to be more eclectic on that part.

I don't know. I think that a vampire life would not go with a religion sice they kill to live. But I guess anything could be possible.

Their is a book that says "thou shall not kill" if someone was a true vampire then he would be going against this law so therfore you can not be of this faith and be a true vampire.

I am christian and although I am not a vampire I am interested in it and other things here on vr but I can't see one being a problem for the other one is what you believe one is what you are

i was raised catholic. and i do suffer every once in a great while with that guilt that is placed within u from birth. but it does not affect my life in any way. it has been something with which i learned from and drew beliefs from, even tho my beliefs are ever changing with every new religion i learn about or even every new fact i hear. i am me. and i will do my best to stay myself, and help others, and do whatever i need to (within reason) to survive. so theorectically, it doesnt effect me cause im still a pretty good person.

i do not believe that either one have anything to do with the other but personally i look at my beliefs as more of a spirituality than a religion

I presume that individuals on this site are not evil by nature even if the claim vampirism. Most people have a desire to believe in something. As Voltaire summed it up, if god didnt exist we would have to invent him. Regardless of what religion you perscribe to, there typically is a code of ethics to live by. The golden rule seems to be incorporated in practivally ever major religion.

I for one do not see how modern day vampires inherently go against these rules. While it might take some struggle and reconfiguration of ones spiritual path to adopt vampirism, it does not disculed one from living ethically or morally.

I consider myself a Catholic/Christian, for me it's the same religion, the important thing is that I believe in God. My whole family are Catholics and obviously me going goth concerned my parents a lot, there was talk about me being a satanist and what not. It's really tough trying to find yourself in that kind of situation... I don't see a problem with my fascination for vampires or how it should affect my religious life, you can't deny that there is both a darker and lighter side of life... I simply chose to explore both, something my parents seemed to have a difficult time understanding.

Personally I am now a self-proclaimed Pagan... Although I have done the christian thing (baptist sunday school, baptised anglican, & went to a catholic high school...) And my problem with these is that I always have researched the occult but one of my school actually called my mother because apparently they were concerned over my interest in the occult and thought I might be leaning towards satanism... The funniest thing was that I never once looked up satan... and mom blew it off as a phase but little did she know... As for my religion and vampirism... well Pagans are open to anything and we are not told it is wrong to be curious

that is my prob with most religions, they make u feel like its wrong to be curious. i feel ive learned more about life and love by studying all different spirtualities and religions. no one is correct. yet they all have pretty good ideals weaved in and out ( even if some are hippocritical)

i believe everything can be enjoyed in moderation and fell its not wrong

As I've am an atheist, my vampiric-persona doesn't interfere with any religious practice of mine. In fact it has helped me in several ways.

1) The dark side of my friends are actually quite more intelligent, decent and friendly, it seems.
2) I have met the love of my life.
3) My laundry can all be done in one load now, since all my clothes are now darks and blacks. :)

My family was strict Roman Catholic. They always had prayers and trinkets against vampires ...they categorize them in with demons. They don't even appreciate wiccans...who just like the earth...they think anything dark is horrible.

I'm Catholic, and I think considering the evils we have done to our fellow man over the last 2,000 years, we should be the last to have any say over someones choice of lifestyle. Unfortunately I know very few others who feel that way.

hmmm good question I can see where it might make thing harder being a christian and a vampire but I really don't think it would be all that big of a deal.

I suppose I would fit into the Pagan or polytheistic category, but I was originally a Christian-Catholic, and then an atheist. Atheists do have a lot of freedom, but I finally realized what really existed (for me, anyways). And as for my religion interfering with being a vampire - my Clan was created by one of the gods I worship, so... Nope - no contradictions.

Religion is a state of ones beliefs....there is no rules on religion for vampire as there is no rules to what a non vampiric person believes. what i mean is this..... a person dictates what they believe, this accounts for a person who converts from one set of beliefs to another. i myself have a rigid set of beliefs, i also know that many people think i am insane, i combine my vampiric lifestyle with my beliefs quite well.... a person can choose to believe parts of any organised religion and turn it into their own(my way) or a persons beliefs can change with time....

i agree with xavier. i am a christian. that does not mean i must be perfect. i will not go to hell if i just commit a sin. being a christian means that you accept jesus christ as your savior and believe that he came to earth and died on the cross so that we could go to heaven to be with him. you do not have to do a certain amount of good deeds to enter into heaven when you die, but you do get certain priveledges (no one really knows what) if you choose nto only to believe in the lord but to also follow the laws he has laid out for us. like xavier (sorry if i spelled your name wrong) said, it never mentions anything about drinking blood, though i do prefer to drink animal blood simply because it is wrong to kill another human. i think it is onbe of the ten commandments, but i am not an expert so i don't know.
