Aside from drinking blood, getting a rush, being immortal, isn't the real allure of being vampire the power? Being so strong none could cage you? Faster than the mortal eye can see? Duing what you will when you will? Is not that the real allure?
depends but as i have said before i trully belive being a vampore is a curse rather then a good thing, it gives you immortality do you think you can live forever and love and see your loved ones die around you ect.... ???
Any power is an allure dont you think ???
Yes but isn't the "power" of the vampire tu walk without fear?
I would have to agrree that that is the allure for those who want to live the lifestlye Tu, but I also think the power and immortality is the allure for those who are turned on or attracted by vampires. The power makes the person feel safe. The immortality lets us think that we will never lose that person.
I like the thought of being a run away T-Rex intent on mayhem! lol
Impossible not to lose that person i will have to disagree on that no matter if it is for death you lose it 2 or feeling there is nothing in this World that is eternal everything has an end no matter how powerful.
Well If I live for eternity I will let you know. But I can't believe that some things won't last forever
I think this discussion has gone way off the topic of the original question. It could have been a decent thread, until it was ruined by people bickering over whether or not things will eventually come to an end.
To get it back on track:
Yes, one of the most alluring aspect of being a vampire is the power that comes along with it. But it's not the only alluring thing.
Well of course this thread is going to end. My point is that you can't say for sure that everything is going to end. You have no proof.
*smiles* not bickering debating. And I understand your disagrrement.
I know that is why i would like to be a real vampire, being faster, stronger and smarter than other people...
serenatous.....
I agree that all aspects of immortality should be discussed, but you have taken all reference to immortality out of it. Come on now....you're talking about the thread ending, how does that have anything to do with a vampire's immortality???
Serenatous has a good point. Basically, everything that has a beginning also has an ending. Just like for every good there is a bad. This all creates balance in our world.
To get back to the original question, yes I think that the power is definitely an allure for me as well as the immortality (if that were possible), and the agility. There are many things that allure me to the vampirism.
i was just trying to show her in the easiest way that even what she is posting on now has an end 2, trying to show her that nothing does go for ever.
it depends on who you are talking about. for me i think the allure is the power meaning stregnth and also the power of seduction, being able to chase after anything you want and not have it be just a lost cause.
to me, the real allure of being a vampire is just that.... being a vampire! :) but yeah, the power isn't all that bad ;)
I think the power is very alluring....the fact that you have something that everyone else doesn't have is also appealing!
one of lifes pleasures... and what vampires are kown for
aahhh TU .. yet another wonderful discussion lol
the real allure... i tend to agree with Tu on this one .. the strength . the power.. the agility ..
someone as always .. mentioned watching loved ones die around you as you "suffer" through immortality and viewing it as a curse..
everyone has an opinion kinda like... well .. YOU KNOW :)
personally.. though i am not saying that i would LOVE to watch my family and friends die off ... i think .. i could deal with that in return for the GIFT or immortality .. my family and friends are going to die off anyway .. MOST of them i will watch go whether i am immortal or not ..
BUT HEY .. its my a..OPINION :)
and yes .. lol.. back on topic again ...
the allure is the POWER >;)
nice point watching your freinds and family die off one by one will take its toll on you but thats what turns you dark...
The immortality, power, sensuality, yes. I am afraid I would probably turn a few people just to keep them from dying and keep them immortal with me lol
I'm a tad confused. I thought that real vampires didn't get superpowers, like super-strength, increased agility, or immortality?
I thought that was just the vampires of fictional movies and books?
it is however we do have a hightend sence of things our sight is better than most and we may be a bit stronger, but none of this is exposed we olny get this way (eyes dilate Adrenlin flows...) when we feel hungry....
I don't know, I'm not a vampire. But I am friends with real vampires, and they do not have these gifts (I'm actually stronger than one of them)
I wonder if watching those you love die natural deaths would turn you to the "darkside"... Natural deaths are painful, yes, but a part of life. When my grandmother died recently, I didn't start attacking people in front of 24-hour convenient stores or tripping the elderly and stealing their candy.
Maybe, if we witnessed heinous deaths of our loved ones and had this "dark gift" keeping us going throughout the centuries, one could certainly become a bitter bastard.
I wonder why so often, people believe that vampirism automatically compromises the ability to love.
Especially since so many romance novels revolve around that very thing ♥
hmmm. I'd ask more questions. How did they become vampire, that sort of thing. But I am not really sure myself. Maybe I am going by books and Hollywood too much.
NO impowerment is personal, and power as well as knowledge to be gained or uswd is truly self-motivated,I am here because of choice, exceptance, and admiration 4 those like me who choose who they WANT to be and act upon it
For others, I don't know. For myself, there is a definant rush there. When I can wittness the power, even being a skeptic, there is a draw to prolong it as much as possible. Something is definantly there, I just can't say what.
Power is that a drug of ones desires. I think what or when will the power loses its luster and it becomes eternal agony for power is a word that can be so alluring in itself. What power would kill you on the inside like the powers of that of the dark gift will.
I think the allure is the blood and the craving is the power
what allures me is their mysteriousness.. and their Honesty
PAYCHECK !?!?!?!
hey dammit .. im getting SCREWED out of a paycheck !>!?!?!!?!?!?!?!
damn
*walks away mumbling*
The power is indeed alluring. Not necessarily related to physical strength, immortality, agility..etc.. but the state of MIND of a vampire. Mysterious, seductive and CONFIDENT... THAT is alluring to me ..
VERY well said MoonLight !!!!!
and i agree.. back to the serious side of this conversation lol
For myself, I do not drink blood. I drink "energy"...I feed off of emotions as well. But yes It is about the power and about the feling of fullness after wards and the satisfaction.
Ah a "real" vampire, not those of fiction and film, I was going tu comment, but I have another thread tu post now lol
I agree with mistressmoonlight on the confidence aspect! I have always found confidence in a person to be very alluring and very sexy! :)
It's really hard to interact in the forum when there are threads that don't specify if they are talking about reality or fiction.
Sounds like fiction to me... so I will say there are hardly any 'victims' that want to be vampires. And those that do- are trying to escape life.
I have a question for 25, or any can answer if they know, you find confidence a turn on, where is the line where it becomes arrogance and a turn off?
Confidence works if you are Clark Kent- or Spiderman without the venom. Confidence would work on Louis- but not on Lestat. Can't give you any REAL references since politics aren't allowed in the forum.
Tu.. to answer your question about confidence vs arrogance..
To me confidence is knowing one's own strengths and accentuating them absolutely. When someone feels the need to degrade others in order to boost their own ego is when they cross the line into arrogance.. just my opinion ;)
Personally, I think a lot of the appeal of vampires, or any other "mythical" (for lack of a better word) creature such as werewolves, or faeries, or any other creature such as that is it makes other things okay.
How to phrase this so it makes sense out of my head..LOL
Okay, society really tires to constrain people, no matter who you are or where you are or what you do, society will try to control you, to make things not okay because they are "unacceptable" or "gross" or "indecent" or any other idiotic notion.
Vampires and other "mythical creatures" (again for a general term, can't think of another right now) being real, or a possibility, or any other variation makes being bad a little bit more okay for some people. Like, some people would think "well, if vamps are real then me liking rough sex isn't so bad" or something like that.
*sigh* I hope that made sense.... so anyway, in a nutshell I think part of the allure, or maybe all of it for some people, it is makes some things a bit on the "fringe" a little bit more okay for them.
on the subject of confidence versus arrogance, for me it is...
confidence is knowing not only your abilities but your limitations.
arrogance is believing you're better than others to the detriment of those others.
RevSkye I think I understand where you were going with that. Sort of like the reason "good" girls are attracted to "bad" boys and vice versa. A taste of the "forbidden" perhaps?
Or is it when someone else (vampires for instance) do things that are WRONG from "society's" viewpoint.. then somehow the little things we do wrong or bad every day seem less so?
Correct me if I have this all wrong.. I'm sleepy lol
LOL no mistressmoonlight, that is almost exactly what I was getting at.
Certainly not for everybody, but for a lot of people, vampires and such could almost be a scapegoat. It's really too bad that's a truth, but *sigh* it is.
no not for me atleast seeing as how I will never have those things, I am a sang vampire but I am not a superman......but damn it would be fun :)
someone can have confidence and believe that they can do something but know wat their limits r, arrogances is someone who things they r better then they really r and pushes it no matter what
Tu, wanted to answer your question about confidence vs. arrogance.
To me, confidence means that one realizes their own positives (strength, power, etc.) and knows how to use them, but in the same breath does not let it totally control them and hurt the people around them.
Arrogance to me, means that one realizes their own positives (strength, etc.), but does not care about anyone else that it may harm and is very self consumed...
I hope that helps. :)
I agree that is a strong part of the allure along with the mysteriousness. Thats it for me anyways.
it depends on the person and their personality, I suppose.
It's the complete opposite for me- it is being more intune to others, to nature and to my own feelings, its making sure that I evolve my perceptions of the world, keep an open mind, and don't get stuck in a rut.
I don't want power, or to be above it all, I would rather be in the thick of it all and having an experience. So, that is my allure.
yes I would agree that there would possibly be an allure to be a vampire, all the strength and abilities, but at the same time there would be consequences, you would have to deal with.. such as being alone.. being hunted and being despised by anyone who did not understand you
For me, none of the things you listed are part of the "allure" as you call it. The only thing that gets heightened when I feed are my five senses. I'm out of shape, so even after I feed I can't run any faster or be any stronger.
I admit, there is a part of the folklore that is fascinating to me...the living forever part. I have this fear of dying, so that would make sense though...and it's not like I have convinced myself or even tricked myself into believing that I am going to live forever because I am a psychic vamp.
I agree with you. Personally the allure for me is immortality and the power. The thought of never dying and being that powerful, it is rather exciting.
The power trip thing, it all depends on the person. They say absolute power corupts absolutely. And perhaps that is why the all-powerful-all-knowing-walks-thru-walls-immortal-vampire-god..is just in the movies.
when mortals have achieved absolute power..it always ends in disaster. As seen in the history books.
Is it alluring, yes of course, what is always half seen or half known, secretive and dark..is always alluring. Now ask me if it's realistic..only to Bram Stoker.
One of the most alluring things is being with someone and you know you have the power of having that someone... common people can't resist... you enter a place and all the looks are on you... you feel yourself wanted, admired... that happens to me... and all that sexual energy in the air is food!!!
The "allure" of power is, in fact, almost antithetical to all that truly is called "vampire." Power is an overwhelming allure only to those who have none over themselves. Thus, the allure of power is what primarily drives and motivates Human males. And while we all possess selfish and vain desires and drives, it is not at all "vampiric" in the true sense to glorify such, to deliberately seek all such out. This is not that for which we neverendingly hunger and thirst. Our neverending hunger, our unquenchiable thirst, is for communion: infinite emotional and sensual communion. This is the only "Real Allure" sine when first our forefathers descended from above and communed with Human females, inciting in normal males the murderous jealousies that sparked the slaughters that followed.
Again... for normal males, it has always been about the "allure" of power; for us, it has always been about limitless communion with females.
Echo...everytime I read your posts in a thread...I find myself nodding in agreement....I think the allure of this whole lifestyle to me is the being empathetic to the feelings of people as it seems we notice or feel these things more deeply... I love feeding on energy and the high that it gives you as well as giving you an intimate look at where these energies are coming from....I dont want power....I want enlightenment from others like me...learning more about people like me AND those that arent....maybe helping mainstreamers to understand us....one person at a time.....PS the seductive nature of people that live this way is also a HUGE deal for me lol
Well, apart from the excellent hearing, the perfect eye-sight, the strength, lightning fast reflexes, and the amazing agility that I already possess, I wish I had more abilities.
It's be awesome to scurry about lightning fast or to have healing powers to where I could have a perpetual life... but alas... it's all but Hollywood fantasy... I can dream, can't I? :)
Power has never been an allure for me, I'm certain I'd try to do something good if I had these "super-human powers" you speak of. What pleases me most is the prospect of eternity.
i would like to have powers that no one else has.. but i seriously dont think that *todays* vampires are immortal
The power to make victims weak at the sight of our dark beauty is the allure for me.
IamHell, I have to agree with you... the allure for me is the sexual power I have...isn't it great when other people can't resist your looks?
personally, i've known a few vampires, and not one had a special power! ahhhh, the smell of buffy and charmed!
For me, the allure of the vampire is more something different than what's commonplace around me. The vampire is a creature that is humanoid in appearance, yet doesn't quite fit into so-called 'normal' society.
It's very much like Marlon Brando's image of the rebel trying to be different and trying to be himself.
Personally, I don't want to fit in. I don't want to be like everyone else. I want to be unique and one-of-a-kind and be cherished as such (as I do everyone I meet).
However, I will concur that the powers and abilities of the vampire add to the above-mentioned allure.
The allure is many things that is a vampire, what makes a vampire what he/she is. The fierce eyes, the pale skin, the power to move faster than any wild cat and also the mistque of the danger and evil that seems to be associated with vampires...This and more intrigues me to them.
It is the power, but unlike some, I would relish the ability to live for who knows how long...the idea of seeing how things go in a hundred years, a thousand...it intrigues me. Plus the opportunity to learn, and see new things...that to me is the rush- the power would just be a perk to making all that happen.
i would have to say that immortality wouldnt be one of the allures but then again it could be...
it all depends on personal preferances....
i think that the allure would be morally the power... i have to agree!!!!

If anything the vampire life can be quite a lonely one.One of the reasons i came to vr was to get in touch with my kind and other kin.then i was honoured to be allowed to join the celestial wisdom.the wonderful family i now sit among.some of the vampire anomelies, like the thirst is a curse.keeping it at bay and under control.having heightend senses is a plus.its been ten years since my awakening, and i,m only just starting to be at ease with what iam.whilst trying to maintain the value of humanity
As has been pointed out, it would be necessary to differentiate between reality and fiction here. For the fictional/mythical vampire, I'm sure there are dozens of things one could state as the allure of being a vampire. Certainly not the immortality, for me - with the way this world is turning out, I sure as hell wouldn't want to sit around in it!
When dealing with the reality of vampirism, I can't think of anything that would be alluring to someone who isn't already affected by vampirism. I mean, I can see the posters: "Got plenty of energy? Feeling great all the time? Well, there's a solution for that! Just take this shot and you'll get vampirism and then you'll be weak and tired and feel like crap unless you gather energy from external sources such as someone else's blood or their emotions or...." Yep, people would just line up for that!
id say imortallity. im not sure about the moving soo fast part tho.
I think that being able to control peoples thoughts would be kinda cool to be able to do.
Don't get me wrong the physical and mystical powers that come with being a vampire definatly would have their attraction, but for me the main draw would be to be one of the few people in the know. To actually know. That has more appeal to me than many of the other aspects.
It would be the power to transcend the ages and finding my True love in the defiance of nature
"Vampire" The word alone holds many
expressions. For me the unmoderated
face is an allure. To carve my thoughts
to the sneering, wannabe, soical masses.
Yearnings without ridicule and what is
acceptable. Bella
all of the above and for me the darkness that encompasses the lifestyle
Having mental powers over the opposet sex
to control there every whim
and Destruction of the human race
Destruction is Nice!
I do not find vampires any more or less alluring than any other, I do not seek controll of others nor will I be controlled.
Allure of any kind is gererally very personal.
