I know there are many people on VR that consider themselves to be energy vampires.

Blood drinkers say that they can only drink a little bit of blood at a time so that they do not become sick.

I've never tested it myself because I am somewhat of the conservative, but do you think that someone can take too much energy from someone? To the point where it could be very dangerous to their health or even fatal?

I would say yes. It would really be dangerous for another person if they took it all from one sorce.

There are several schools of thought on this.

The one which I currently hold to, is that negative energy, the sort drawn out or dissipated during such works as Reiki, can affect peoples state of mind, causing a reaction which is not beneficial.

However, there seems to be a type of energy worker/vampire, who can 'cycle' negative and utilise it. so for them, it has a positive effect. They then can re-use this form for other purposes.

The only potential for serious harm which I can see, is if a person was 'flooded' with energy which their system did not have the 'capacity' to handle.

Heart palpitations, difficult breathing, headaches, could all result. From here, there is potential for more serious problems.

In this state, it would be good for a person to relax, work on breathing techniques and meditate.

I f the source is receptive I think it's OK on occasion but not all the time.
I remember a thread about feeding off family members. Most people said they wouldn't.
I don't know how harmful it is to drain energy from someone.
I wouldn't want anyone taking energy from me or blood for that matter.

Very interesting Stab666! I have heard about their being different kinds of energy such as the negative and positive, but was not very clear as to what kind of exact affect it had on others. :)

sorathecrimson - so were you feeding off of their negative energy they were giving off? What gave you the sad feeling other than just the obvious sadness of being in a funeral home and "seeing" sad people?

In essence, yes.

I've found people who use both as well. It seems a bit similar to being left or right handed, or ambidextrous.

If you take all of someone else's energy than not only are YOU in danger of handling energy beyond your control, but the person who allows you to consume their energy is in danger as well. So, neither is healthy.

I don't know about fatal, but I found that when I take too much energy I get massive headaches. It's probably more dangerous to the victim if all the energy is taken from them rather than the vampire.

I think its like in everything, to much of a good thing is bad, as it is like and over load, even with energy, imagine a toaster (please no offence here just to compare) you hook it up to lets say 220 volt, but its one that is made for the 110 volt, you'll see a big over laod and probably more ashes of taost then grill toast lol. The same goes for the energy send or absorb by us, psy vampires, as to be fatal...I think that is only in a long or intense term, or maybe repetitive..but on a one time accident? Probably just get you sick or weak, kind a like after a meal that you ate to much and feel like throwing up.

I really do not think it matters what "kind" of thing that you are consuming, whether it be food, blood, energy, etc. Too much of a good thing is no good. And it can harm both parties.

My personal take on the situation: if the vampire is feeding before being in dire need, we are looking at the situation of filling up a glass half empty with one that is totally full. Eventually the half empty will wind up full and the normally full would be half empty.

Considering that the average person can restore prana at a normal rate, it would be like draining from a cup that has a replenishing source, whether it be a dribble or a faucet.

For a vampire to drain completely and attack someone to the point that there were "hurt" would require that the vampire be extremely in need and able to feed at a rate that was greater than the person can replenish. The greater factor is how deep in need the vampire is.

Nice I get to answer another from the viewpoint of a donor. Can it be harmful? Yes. I've had my energy drained to the point that I wasn't able to react, move, or even speak. In that state, one is as good as dead. The receiver was also so overwhelmed, they were unable to control themselves. Would either of us have died if it had continued? Maybe.
I believe energy isn't defined as positive or negative, though. To me it is the same a magick. No colors, just magick. If something is helpful to you but harmful to another, then is it positive(white) or negative(black)? I believe that it is what effect it has on us that should determine whether or not it should be used.

to respond to the original thread, i am going to add to what has already been said. yes, you can drain another to the point where they are in need themselves. these people, if drained enough, can become sympathetic psychic vampires themselves; at least until they've regained their own energy.

a responsible vampire is not going to drain their donor to the point that they are unresponsive. not only is it irresponsible, it is disrespectful to your donor. draining others or even having a donor when one is unable to control their feeding is relatively deplorable (no offense, wasted). a vampire's ultimate goal is to learn to control their own energy and their feeding habits to the point where others are not going to be harmed, even unintentionally.

that is where maturing as a psychic vampire is necessary.

Vampiress25,

Can you clarify whether you are asking if it is dangerous for the taker, or the one being taken from?

By the way in which you have worded your post, I assume you are asking if it is dangerous for the taker?

Thanks.

Over taking from the one giving can cause harm to both. Draining them can turn them into a vegetable while causing the taker to overfeed and send them into a feeding freenzy.

None taken, Jenova. To be honest it was a mistake on my behalf for letting it happen. Sometimes we all get a little carried away when feeding or being fed upon.

In reply to the original post:

Yes I believe it is possible to take too much (I have learnt the hard way). The first time I took way too much I was asleep and actually DRAINED someone whilst I was sleeping and caused them to become unconscious. Taking too much energy from someone can make you feel anything from a slight nausea to feeling unable to move or feel like passing out or throwing up.

as someone posted earlier, it is all about learning to control it and that is the part that is difficult...

Stabb666 - I am asking about both people. Yes, mostly for the person taking the energy, but I'm also asking out of respect for my donors.

Jenova - I have never thought about it that way, that you could actually "turn" someone into a sympathetic psy vamp, but it does make complete sense.
Hence the reason I said before that I am somewhat conservative in my energy taking because I do not have any intention of harming someone.

However, (forgot to add this) it has also been somewhat challenging for me in the past to withdraw myself from taking energy. Especially if the donor is at first enjoying the energy taking (I've had that happen as well) and then they realize that they are not enjoying it anymore after a given amount of time. This is when I would "usually" withdraw myself or better yet, before that would happen.

LizSara, it would seem to me though that a vampyre would be able to recognize if the energy that they are feeding upon is as you say "negative" or positive. If I sense that whomever I'm feeding on at the moment is negative, I tend to withdraw myself from them as to not harm myself...

The negative energy itself can be stabilise or balance, if the one absorbing has more then extra positive it will be balance, irt is possible also to be attracted to the ones with negative when we are some over positive to help us balance, therefore ending up being stabilize.

Vamprise25, I think you hit it on the head. The donor may be so into the pleasure that they would not know when too much is taken and that is why I also think that its the takers responsibility to know when to stop the feed before a total drain.

Perhaps if those who take energy became knowledgebable as to what they were playing with, such as study of the current literature (available here in the Data Base) we would not have caused harm to those that feed you. If you have any idea how much harm you can cause by draining someone you should have not played vampire in the first place.

when I was a child I used to exhaust people after taking their energy. But now I don't because I have better control over how much I take. Once, again as a child I took energy from some one that had a nasty cold. I then became very sick and they got worse. I'm not sure if my taking from they had anything to do with it but it was odd none the less. I believe if one is not careful then yes taking energy can have ill efeccts.

Being a practicing Wiccan - taking energy can be dangerous. You can get bad energy off of people (or places) and if you don't have the knowlege to turn the energy then yes, you can get quite ill.

taking too much energy is harmful to the donor. You're taking their energy. Does a battery work after you drain it's charge? Similar concept. Also Magick uses energy. Everything runs on energy. Energy is infused with the feeling or emotions of where it originated, etc. Negative energy can make you sick, as well as many others factors. Too much or too little energy as well as "what type" of energy will affect you in all manner of ways, depending on you. So just be careful and take care of yourself and others.

Drinking too much energy can have a negative effect- at least for me. The best way I can describe it is by giving an analogy of an energy drink. There is the initial rush from it but eventually it turns into a sour headache.

Absolutely you can take too much energy from someone; a friend of mine (he's no longer a friend after this episode) was very ill, and drew energy from me without my knowledge (I didn't know then how to block people from doing this), and drew so much that he went into a coma, and caused me to get ill as well. He told me of this a month after it happened, and I put two and two together.

I have read many reports of people that were out of balance or over loaded with energy and having schitophrenic behavior because of it. And that many with behaviour disorders just have too much energy in their system and their bodies and minds can't handle the over load.

I believe for anyone it would come down to trial and error, but small quantities would be preferable in my mind, why go over board.

I would say you can give too much energy.. I gave WAY too much, thought (energy), time (energy), stress (energy), worry (energy) healing (energy) Physical pain (energy) to someone that was continually draining me over a long period of time and it almost lead me to serious illness if I didn't do something about it.. I was constantly feeling lathargic or afraid.
he didn't seem to care and just continued taking and demanding.

I started getting ill, with palpitations and low bloood pressure, My friends & family and my doctor all said I needed to get away from this guy...So, I got out, with the little reserve tank I must have had.

I would think it would be harmful to both participants. The 'victim' losing most or all of their energy would mostlikely die, and the vampire to become sick. A little energy goes a long way.

a foreign energy is alot like a poison, in certain amounts it can have good or useful effects on yourself, too much negative can be like taking a handful of downer pills, while too much positive can make you spike up for a while then crash, possibly become dependant on it as well.
As for drawing out someone else's energy, it's like blood, a person can lose a certain amount and be fine, maybe a little light-headed but they'll regenerate it.
I personally don't draw in negative energy into myself if I can help it, for Reikki I draw it out and let the surrounding atmosphere take it and neutralize it.

Taking too much energy can be harmful to both vamp and donor. It's all a matter of control and knowing when to stop. Once, my desire when out of control and I left my donor unconscious. And myself with a horrible migraine. Not very pretty.

I feel very similar to the way Stabb does on this topic... it is in part how u use the energy. If you are inexperience at it, or unaware that you are doing it (which is often the case) then it can cause you to become sad, depressed, and ill. I have never heard of anyone actually dying from it, but I suppose that it is possible...

Some reiki practioners are able to channel the negative energy that they absorb into a form of energy, allowing them to complete tasks or other various things. Although I am not a certified practioner, I feel that the best thing to do with negative energy is not to simply allow it to disipate or release it into your general habitat... that can cause stress on those who are unaware of their ability. It is easy to channel it into the earth, not like a plant or a tree, because it could kill it, but into say... a rock.... or dirt where nothing is growing.

But I do firmly believe that ALL forms of energy are dangerous... it is just a matter of how you use the energy. Just because you cant see it, doesnt mean that it isnt there!!!

Chaosinsilver: I am a certified Reikki practitioner, and though I don't believe it says so in the books (the books are damn vague if you ask me) that you're "supposed to dissapate the energy, in fact I was warned by my teacher never to take the pain or negative energy into myself. I've had to do it before when I was in a rush and not entirely focused- not a good idea.

I think the person donating would probably be dead and the person feeding would be very unhealthy and would probably have to go to a hospital. Lol

i have never drank anyones blood but my own. but i consider myself extremely empathic. and sometimes, too much negative energy from a person does make me sick. not nauceous or feverish or anything like that... but it makes me depressed, anxious, i cant breathe right. so yes i think its possible to get sick (in a way) from bad energy.

bloodysun I see what you are trying to say, but are you not contradicting yourself? At first you say that you can never take enough blood, but then you say people stop when they have had enough... so how is it possible then to never take enough blood, if you get full and have had enough? LOL. Anyway, thank you for posting, it was just a little confusing but I understand what you were trying to say.

HollywoodVampirella and Stabb666 I know where you are both coming from and have experienced the headaches and "near" vomiting feelings. However, I've been able to control the vomiting feeling so as I don't actually do it, but I've been close. I just think that too much of anything is not good. Even if it is good/positive energy one is consuming.
