Have any one else notice how the Paranormal have just more mainstream.
Do you think it is just a fad or could it be that we are becoming more open minded...the just like witchs and others that prcactice magic are steppin more and more out the darkiness and the there voice being hread do any body have any thoght on whats goimg on

Yes, I think it started in the UK a few years ago.

Ghost hunting programes....which were pretty bad lol

But....I guess if it gets people talking it serves it's purpose.

that uk show is very bad...it is funny as hell

I think that some people are becoming more open minded and interested in the parnormal and metapysical but as always there are the "fakes" who have to ruin the good :?) llol

I think it is both a fad and people becoming more aware and more open minded. Fads come and go but hopefully the awareness and open mindedness will last for a while.

If you look at it in another way, which may seem more far fetched, the shifting of awarenesses signals the preparation for end of the Age of Pisces in 2012 and the start of a new consciousness, new awareness.

I think its a fad, the majority of people just like to watch ghost type shows but they are not going to believe them, or atleast the majority will not believe in what they are seeing...

I have to agree people are starting to accept the knowledge of paranormal activities .

Poeple are getting mroe and more aware of things and what is around them and several taboos are being taken off, ppl are getting more and more open minded.

I think it is just a matter of people these days being more open minded. Mainstream Chrisianity is loosing its grip on the people and they are starting to believe what they want to believe.

I think it is both,depending on the people and the culture's countries.

In Malta the paranormal subjects have been discussed only after the late 90's/early 2000's but still with a major narrow minded mentality.But at the same time there are a few who are not afraid of talking about it with an open mind.

As for the rest,I guess lots of other television programmes are not done because people are open minded about the paranormal subject,but simply because lots of people are interested in it,therefore more popularity and business to the programme.Then it becomes a fad.But still what does bring this interest?Curiosity,open mindeness,the fact that the paranormal subject is getting popular or just a show to watch during nights in?

That's why I think it's a bit of both.

As Carvall had stated, half goes to the media. The other half, I believe is pyschological, over time and years, society begins to understand certain concepts, like religion in the midevil times when witches were burned alive as well as false believers, till now, when fortune tellers hang out at Jackson Square and Bourbon street openly.

More and more of society is starting to accept that there are things within our world that need to be explained. The paranormal is just not being ignored anymore, we don't have to be afraid like they have to be in some countries of being persecuted or killed for saying I see dead people, and it's cool with me.

Reality tv sucks as a whole anyway.but as for the paranormal,people are beginning to see through the vale of religions,the regimental this and that and what should or should not be done.the universe,and the other dimensions are vast and i think more and more people are finding this out.and are searching out all the vast ways to find their path.

My opinion is much as the same as all above, people have become more open minded with the combo the church losing it's grip on the population (cause that's started with the onslaught of the black death), the very bad ghost show's on t.v!& the influx of all sorts of religions coming into the country (u.k at least), more than likely a number of other factors that i can't think of off the top of my head. Perhaps the age of Aquarius is finally here!!

I'm in the UK and i've noticed reports in the papers recently about families being haunted - a few decades ago it was almost unheard of to air things like this in public for fear of ridicule! Nowadays people are more accepting of certain paranormal phenomena - but I don't think there'll ever be a time when everything occult is accepted. The paranormal will never be normal!

I think that more and more people are becoming open minded, but then again there will always be those people who think that the paranormal is evil and things like that so...I don't know I guess there will always be people that fear and condemn it.

Actually, interest in the paranormal/supernatural has always been there. I think that it's more noticable because of the ease of communication, as well as entertainment media latching on to more and more sensational topics to show to thier audiences.

If you look at the media they still do not care about the paranormal, i mean people watch the ghost hunting shows, for enjoyment not because they believe in it, i mean some may watch because they believe in ghosts, but the majority just wants something to watch on tv when they have nothing to do...

i have to admit the paranormal was never really my thing.. but after talkign to a lot of people here on vr i have become very intrested int he subject and have been doing a lot of research

i think that because of technological advances it makes it easier to 'tell the story' and get it out to more people, and we now have means in which we gather and examine the knowledge better.

It's a fad especially in the Gothic subculture right now, but by taking this out to the public, they will soon grow used to it, desensitized, and eventually will learn to accept the idea...Or at least give it fair thought.

I hate to sound redundant and all, but, yes, people in this day and age are becoming more and more open-minded everyday and becoming aware of other possibilities other than just what has been taught throughout the years from going to church.

Each generasion seems to be leaning more towards the occult, and sooner or later I think occult will be the more comon of belief structures...Kids are starting to follow thier own paths not what mommy and daddy think is right...333

Just because people watch ghost hunting shows do not mean that their is a paranormal rebirth, it just means that people like watching a tv show...

No, not really...

Paranormal.. stuff.. has always been of interest to people. Ghost stories aren't a recent thing. If anything, I think it's become more popular in media to scientifically prove these things wrong, than to fascinate about them.

Yet, there is the side of the media that caters to those who believe in it.. and that's ok too. Nothing wrong with a little fantasy in life.

i like the new ghost hunting shows, and i do not think that their is a rebirth people are still closed minded.

it is not tv shows. it stuff in news papers. the new york times have had alot of storys in them now

I agree with Birra. People have always been interested in the paranormal type of subjects.

Also though, I believe our culture today is more accepting of subjects that are not mainstream.

with so many weird things going on it does not suprise me.

I think Many watch the Shows to Attempt to Proove to Themselves and other how fake it is and or Belittle what it is they do not believe in and its sad .. So Many people who need to see to believe get off on making fun or discrediting anything they either find Scary and have a fear of or False in Information

The shows out there are the real reason that is become more mainsteam either trying to prove that something is real or not it just more people attention on the subject and makes it more taklable in society in general.

I think the interest has always been there, but people were afraid to speak openly about it because it was unacceptable or just plain crazy. I believe the reason the paranormal and occult has become more popular lately is due to technology. People can speak freely within online communities and forums while still maintaining a bit of anonymity. I dont know if people are any more or less open minded, just more open mouthed.

I think that although people are becoming more open minded, it is basically just the entertainment part that they are open with. As long as the people making the shows and movies are providing entertainment, the audience will keep a continued interest.

Yeah ppl are alot cooler these days yet u still find those "OTHERs'' lol! ENTERTAINMENT IS REALLY WHAT TRIGGERED IT ALL "hopping the band waggon I guess! lol

i was attacked by a mosquito once...I smacked it...it landed, then got right back up to bite me again. This happen about three times before I decided to cleanse it with fire..that kind of took are of the problem. I would say that is a bit paranormal.

Sadly, I think it's mainly a fad. But hopefully some of the open-mindedness that comes along with the fad will stick around even after the fad itself ends.
