Over the holidays I saw a documentary on the history channel about an old manuscript uncovered in a library in rome.
Supposedly it was written by Nostradamus and carrys apocalyptic predictions...including how the world will end. The script predicted 9/11........There were illustrations in the book about a tower that seemed to be exploding.

And the Holy Cross which when alligned with the Cross that representing the planet's orbit.......will signify the end of the world.

The last time this allignment accured was in the year 1100......and it only happens every 1300 years........which would bring the end of the world......closer then we'd like.

What do you all think of this.....and do any of you know more about this then I do...because.......My knowledge is still sketchy at best.

Personally, I think it's a loud of circumstantial crap. The lied about many other documents foretelling events such as 9/11, Y2K, etc. and I don't think there is any difference between those and this. Thats just like the 12/12/2012 theory, as well as many other "end of the world" dates that have come and gone. All of them have been or can be proven wrong.

Really, I wouldn't put much stock in things like this.

They could have predicted anything and everything, even flying pigs. That doesn't mean it will happen.

I too believe that this is a ploy, I did see this telivised version of the program. How come now do these show up and are not in the known maniscript of Nostadamus. Many of his theory are quit believable, yet a fortune teller or a seer of the future. Still all specualtion, like the bible code therie. Do not believe it.

Personaly, i'm very dubious about this, simply because the 'end of the world' has been predicted so many times by various diffrent prople and different periods of time, for example the year 2000 came and passed, The second coming of Jesus Christ, when he returns to earth after almost two millennia,The arrival on earth of the Antichrist, an evil political, military leader unless they mean a certain president lol

While i do consider nostradamus a great healer of his time and he could possibly have been physic as well there is no way to tell for certain his quatrains are foretelling any event that has already come anf gone or to come as his writingas are so obscure, you couls twist and turn and sence to mean any number of things. As stated this is just my own judgement.

Well I don't think Jesus will ever return...and I doubt these fools want him to.

He'll probably speak out against all the corruption and materially driven culture of our society.

I believe that it's possible the Vatican has a Armed Gaurd stationed near his grave to kill everytime he tries to get up.

I believe Nostradamus did have a gift, However, there are many ways to interpret his quatrains, TV loves to play up the drama...

There has been so many "end of the world" dates just since ive been alive and none of them have fallen true. I agree with most on the thread that Nostradamus had a gift, but even with the gifts there are flaws because no gift is perfect. I dont think anyone can predict future events. But that is my opinion.

I agree prediction about the end of the world have been made for thousands of years...The Mayan calendar ends December 21, 2012...many believe the Mayan calendar predicts the end of the world..

Their has been lots of manuscripts that have been faked, this may just be another one, i believe that Nostradamus had a great gift but i think that he never predicted the end of the world or atleast never had the chance to...

it's not the end of the owrld When Jesus returns (and he will) first will be a rapture then 1000 years later he will bring everyone else home becuase he will bring Heaven to Earth

I am a huge nostradamous fan, love reading and watching everything about the guy.
It is utterly fascinating.
I don't, however, really believe what is supposedly taken from his works.
Just have a hard time buying the crap so many of these 'spinsters' are trying to sell with it anymore.
Sad thing is, nowadays, it is all about the money.

I like to believe in Nostradamus...that being said, I cannot believe him. Too much of his writings are circumstantial and can be interpreted in many different ways. Likely, he was merely a man who was just trying to survive...

...though I like to think he knew. :D

Forgot to mention I watched the same documentary.

People can foretell the future some better than others. As for Nostadamus I think some of his predictions are fairly accurate others can be widely interpreted.
There are 2 places I turn to for predictions with a 100% track record the I Ching and the Bible (Ps. 112) both predict severe things happening in 2012.

The stars do not mandate what WILL happen but they do give us an idea of whats probably going to happen, and you can take that to the bank.

As for whats going to happen in 2012 I think it will be a mix of actuall events some could be devistating, a change in human thinking and the start of what could be called the end.

To add to the 2012 theory that has been mentioned....

Our calendar, the Gregorian, is 7 full years behind the Mayan calendar. So, in short, if we were really to be keeping track of time, as well as what has come and past...

2007 + 7 = 2014.

2012 has come and gone. End of story. Yet again, we lived through a non-existent catastrophe.

I have one of his books it made for interesting reading. But I don’t believe he was entirely accurate in all he predicted. I most certainly wouldn’t start worrying about the end of the world because what he wrote.

im not honestly sure i belive this predication,, he was very good at what he did, but i do not belive any one can truley predict the end of the world,, but maybe the gods.. but it is a instresting read

I think our society takes what Nostradamus wrote , in whatever way will fit what they need at that moment. You can take many of his theories and point them to something else.. I think he predicted things sure, but are they 100% accurate most likely not... Im sure bits a pieces may be correct but as a whole prediction no..

I belive it is circumstansial garbage because you can make anything fit at anyone time.

I myself just find his predictions very interesting reading. That no one knows for sure what the future holds and when it will all end. just my opinion.

While his reading is fascinating I feel that it is pure luck the accuracy of his predictions. I could sit here and make predictions all day long and have at least half of them come true.

I have studied the 2012 theory deeply...I know all the reasons behind the belief of it...Nostradamus' predictions also state that the world will end in 2012 because of the same aspects. It's all theory, no one can disprove his predictions but no one can say beyond a doubt that they are truth.

well...since about only 15% of what nostradamus wrote actually happened and even so, it was still not perfect, as for exemple the name of hitler, nostradamus has writen hisler...I will say this book is like all his previous prediction if it is his book, I wold think 15% of it might happen, but I highly doubt it will. sorry I am a septic, I need more to beleive.

I still go by the belief that old documents such as the manuscript of Nostradomus, was not lost, but waited for the right time, when they who think society is ready, shows more and more of the disfigured and heretical past into the eyes of the willing to believe. Nothing more, nothing less.

In time, I am sure supposedly missing manuscripts of other "lost" kingdoms, individuals whathaveyou, will be "recovered".

Personally I think Nostradamus was a hack. A tower exploding could refer to just about anything... highrises are damaged or destroyed all the time and while 9/11 was indeed bad, it wasn't the devastating effect it is made out to be (and I already know people are going to be het up about that, just don't be). Same happened with the year 2000 predictions. His writing was so incredibly vague it can be interpreted in any possible way, and it is, in order to "prove" a point, garner support, and raise panic levels.

Nostradamus wrote a collection of vague predictions that are massively open to intepretation.

Hmm, maybe fortelling a certain turn of the wheel, some changes in energies.

Nostradamus had a gift of telling what will happen in the future. If u look at his predictions u will find that the majority of his predictions have come true

so2283, actually, sadly, I will say oly 15% of them happened and even then, there was mistakes in names of places. Sorry to say this but, his predictions, we actually pur coincidence.

I agree this was a fake interpretation and glued to the times. It is like most prophecy bunk.

People interpret what they choose to. They see what they want to see. These prophecies have been around for a very long time.
Having read the complete compliations of Nostradamus, I can see where some things can seem like our history.
Yet through out the ages these occurences have repeated themselves. Just with different people, technology, and different times.
Nostradamus could have easily recognized that people cause history to repeat itself, because we don't learn from our mistakes. He could have written down past events, (which also coincide with his predictions) in an enigmatic way, while in a drug induced trace.
People are generally gullible, especially then because most of them couldn't read. He created a way of messing with people's heads and built a reputation for himself as a psychic. People believed him, and some still do. Thus the power of reputation, and manipulation of the Catholic Church at its best.

i tend to belive the most of it is a ploy. however it is so many ideas on the end of the world so the risk is there someone might be right after all. but i dont know.

They also used the bible to predict 9/11 (after it happend) using some algorith, using the same algorithm they 'predicted' Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby, and using the lyrics from one of Vanilla Ice's albums predicted something else
