Continuing from the last discussion which was regarding a meetup in Whitby for the 'Goth weekend' at Halloween, please can everyone state if they are interested in attending.

you should attend, just save up some cash and stay over night. no worries! I think the whole point is that a hotel or two might be involved.

ive always wanted to see whitby....is it totally changed from the way it once was so many years ago?

what part of england is whitby in anyway? yes im an ignorant american.

whitby is one of the most historical victorian ports in england! in its hay day it was the busiest port in england!! most of england trade left from there!!

and the legend of dracula is included in its history!! supposedly the landing place in bram stokers novel!! vampire culture is alive and well in whitby!!

and the Gothic weekend is where it all happens for us guys!! its an ideal place for a meet up as there is a hell of a lot going on there over the halloween weekend!!

so keep up the interest as i am in touch with the WGW promoters and have been given an ideal place for the meet up if it happens!! i will be there anyway as part of goth weekend and if i get enough interest i will indeed have the meet up added into the WGW itinerary!! so keep up the interest and if your going get a hotel booked quick as the go like rockets this time of year!!

Hey, never mind Halloween what about April too? I've been going to Whitters since 97. And will be there again for both, this year as per (disasters permitting) I'm definitely up for a meet up. Where exactly were you thinking of venue wise?
@Lord Wolf, Whitby is in North Yorkshire in the North East of England. It's changed very little since Mr Stoker wrote his novel. Well apart from the odd modern shop etc, I always stay in the "Old Town" usually in a cottage not less than 300 years old!

@ Normski, I've been thinking about the meet up over the past few day's, and I really don't think it would be a good idea to make it part of the official itinerary. To be honest I think it would end up attracting the kind of people we really wouldn't want turning up, and any real vampire wouldn't touch it. Just a thought, I'd be interested to know what every one else thinks? if any one is considering coming that is?

What's happened to the interest? Every one's talking about Download now, and appear to have forgotten about Whitby? The next one is in 6 weeks! I'm still going (and about 4,000 Goths lol) what about any one else?

I will be heading to whitby for halloween. Norm, I am going via yours, lol..... and we have to go shopping!!!! lol

I hope I have enough money to go to this in October. So expensive to come down from Scotland.

i was thinking meeting at the shambles? its always a good starting point for the weekend? but open to suggestions! as for adding the meetup to the itinary it was Emma's suggestion(wgw organiser) LOL

i wont be there in april as funds are diverted to yes as you said Download lol

I am really looking forward to it. My local goth shop plans to have a stall there, so I will travel a couple hundred miles and still give them all my money, ha ha. I love fluffykins wonderland, lol

The Shambles good Idea Nomski, I was actually thinking the same. I'm just a bit concerned now that "the other side" stuff is all being organized there now, we probably couldn't even find a corner. I went to the first night they did there last Oct and it was packed solid, (took 20 mins to get served!) perhaps we should think of somewhere else?

What a shame there isn't a bar in the Abbey hehehe. Well looks like I'll have to rope some mates in to a pub crawl the week after next, to have a bit of a look see too. It's a hard job but some ones got to do it, there are a few(well quite a few)pubs in Whitters I've not checked out yet lol.

Where abouts in Scotland are you? As me and my ex worked out it would only cost him about £50 return to Whitby from Pitlochrty

i stay in west calder its bout 20 miles from edinburgh. and for return trip to england was 99 but dont know where whitby is yet in relation to travel.......... and need to find out if direct route etc

Hhehe hi folks not been around for a while (computer probs) glad to see lots of people interested still.
For any one who wants to go but doesn't have any where to stay, get in touch with Whitby turist info as they usually have a list of places that have had cancelations and there are usualy quite a few as it gets closer.
We still have to think of some where to meet up!I can think of a lot of places but none of them seem quite right, it will be the East Pier at this rate.
Oh if any one has sent me a message on here i'm really sorry I've not answered ,but by the time I got back here, all my recent mails had been deleted. So let me know if you mailed me and I'll get back to you a s a p.

I went to Whitby a couple of months ago and it was freakin freezin in so called English summer ,bet it 'll be baltic by october , so ill give it a miss, i dont want frost bite lol

I was in Whitby a couple of years ago. I really loved the place. Wish I could live there. It's way too sunny in California for vampires.

Is any one still going? It's only just over a month away.
