I am wondering if anyone has had it done to them personally? Dr. Weiss was on Oprah tonight and had a client there as well, telling of his experiences with it, and showed the tape. Dr. Oz also had it done, and was very skeptical before but not after.

I once did it myself by using a tape to guide me through it. I saw a life that was mine many years ago, in medieval times.

I was a man, living in a village, much like the ones you see in the movies, like in Braveheart and Highlander, of those times. I had a family, wife and several kids. I recalled seeing a celebration of everyone in the village, with music, and laughter, people friendly with each other.

And then it went to me on my deathbed. I was laying there, with my wife and kids around me, perhaps others, I don't recall. I looked up and saw the top of the room, where the beams came together to build the house. That's where it ended.

I wondered if anyone has experienced a past life regression session or anything like that? Would you?

I do believe that is does happen I have had many dreams and flash backs if you will of people and places I have never been but they are real places

I've had this done and been told that my soul is over 3000 years old and that I've been reincarnated multiple times. I'm not quite sure if I believe it, but that's what I've been told.

I've never really experienced it in too much detail. I've had other people place their bets on who I was in a past life.

I notice a lot of people choose really romantic pasts instead of something like "I was a leper and a total outcast from my village because they believed a mortal sin had brought my disease upon me"

So that in itself makes me skeptical...

I've never had a session nor am I sure I'd do it if I was given the opportunity. I find the task of this particular life consumes me completely. If I found another, I might become consumed with wanting it more than this one, or, as pointed out by the previous poster, I might be devastated by what it revealed.

I feel this is a possibility. I have had dreams showing me things, people, and the land I would never imagine. Like a past life, seeing a man I once was married to until a sacrifice was made. But that is as far as I will go. As I said in my profile. I don't share deep secrets for a reason. Plus I don't want anyone thinking I am insane. heheh.

I myself do not find it to be a reliable process as I think its just bits and pieces of whats stored in your head and things you have seen on TV or on a daily basis thrown together. The mind and our imaginations are amazing and as someone else pointed out I find it rather amazing that everyones "past lives" are never ugly in the least.......I think its false, its merely wishful thinking.

actually it is a myth that most past life memories are of a romanticised veiw, or of famous people. most cases are actually very mundane, but you don't hear much about them because they don't make good reading or inspire movies. however, to assume that hynotic regression is eveidence of reincarnation is quite a leap of faith which ignores other possibilities. when a medium goes into a trance, and speaks with the voice of someone departed, nobody claims they are reliving a past life experience - they say the medium is acting as a conduit to the spirit world. we are seeing virtually the same phenomena, but interpreting it in a different way.

I've read a few books as once upon a time I hated the thought of reincarnation.

Over the years I've become convinced of it's truth, and have experienced a brief flash back to what I believe was a previous life.

It's said that sometimes certain health problems and phobias can be 'traced' back through regression.

Your right of course to say that no experience can be changed, but some people feel a need to understand why their lives are taking the path they are in this incarnation....looking back can sometimes be a key to that.

I've done past life regressions by accessing the Akashic Records through prayer and meditation. I've had visions of past lives through dreams, and have had some past life healing therapy done through channelling sessions.

Thats interesting, but does everyone have past lives or is there a reason a person is given a second chance or multiple chances at life?

i would gladly do it if i had the money to afford it, and i hope to do it before i die. i have had many dreams of palaces in the expansive desert, as well as Asia...and i have never been to either place so far in this Lifetime.

I went through past life regression 4 times with some family members, and I will say that it was very profound.

Yeah, it could be that my over-active imagination managed to scoop all the half remembered history lessons from highschool, and mashed them together with period costumes I saw in movies...

But I'll tell you, if that is the case, than I should be a damned writer. The images and feelings I had were distinct, and certainly didn't feel like I was fabricating them. Everything, while still like a memory or dream, was fairly cohesive. I could/can pick out and remember specific details from the sessions.

So yes, I believe in past life regression. Since energy doesn't ever end, I think it a reasonable jump of logic to say the energy that is our souls would do the same thing. Just.. continue on till it found another suitable shell to manifest in.

When I was a teenager me and a group of friends bought a cassette tape on past life regression complete with hypnotist talking,etc. No, it did not work for any of us. Not saying it can't be done, because I believe it can, I just never had any success with it.

I have always been fascinated by past life regression. Would mind giving it a try to see what may come of it. Had a friend that did it once. Said he felt as though her were a Japanese fighter pilot. Was interesting how he managed to perfect the old and new language of Japanese within 3 years. To my understanding that nearly unheard of. Anyway it does interest me.

I believe everyone has had a past life, weather it be from two years before this one or a hundred years ago, We all know something from are past. Like I say you do not meet people and are there friends or loved ones for no reason. I have never tried to learn German in my life at all, yet I can understand it some, and speak it a little.

I want very much to do this...go back and find out just how many times I have lived before. I know that I was alive at least twice before, but I've never been regressed to find out more.

plus its quite obvious to me that the hypnotist is leading on the imagination with suggestive questions. lets use an example shall we?
-"i was taken in a past life by a tall thin being into his spaceship"
-"when you were abducted was the probing cold and merciless?"

if you answer no then that means the abductor was merciful when probing. if you answer yes that still means that you were probed in your "memory" without even having hinted at it and your imagination takes that proverbial ball and runs with it.

another factor in such things as past life regression is the Forer effect which kind of works like the quizzes people take on-line. I have a fun practice I do trying to make the outcomes of those quizzes for characters in my writing or the characters of other writers.

I have an interview set with a past life regressionalist so that I can ask in the in take interview the question I asked here.. "What use is past life knowledge?" "how will it help me with current present matters?" Couldn't I go to a career counselor? Who may suggest I need to attend training of some sort, possibly even suggesting that I am under qualified for my unreasonable expectations? Instead of some flattery that I once was a Accountant for crops and harvest in a past life, or that I was a court jester.. yea I would likely be flattered by that. I do know that past life regressionalist use career guidance test in the first sitting, they converse the questions to you and check the answers before you come for your next sitting they run that through a analysis program and use your era (nastalgia) to candy coat it for consumtion.

There have been a few dream episodes were I would say that I was not myself, that take place in the past.

Might be a possible past life, but I don't have the energy right now to chase it down.

For me this would be a great thing to experience for I have had many visions of things and places that I have never been and onder why they have been seen by me.

Again false memories. If you want so badly to belive and to follow the path on your past life, then it is likely you will find it wheter you use a specialist or magic mushrooms.

Too much fasination of the past life will make you forget your present life, it is a dangerous journey if you are not careful.

and try it with friends, much like other things, tarot card reading .. palmistrey .. etc. it build social dynamics. Going to a third party is likely to distance you from friends, as you experience something interesting about your self It is good to have friends along.

I have at times found that I remember my past lives, and some time I do not think that it is my own life I am living.

I talk about it like I believe it ... I am not sure that I understand it enough to believe it fully. It contradicts alot of things I believe in. It's something that I would need to study more. But I don't discount it.

There are many that I have lived, often in rapid sucession. To compound the issue, I will simply say that the number of mine are more than most would probably want, or care, to believe. Hence, I prefer not to discuss the details of mine, as if I did, I suspect there would be quite a few that would know who I am.

The last one that I lived, the deathdate was July 12, 1945. Incidentally, this had nothing to do with a war. Regardless, after this physical coil decays, I will return in a succession of 15, 10, and 5 years. After that time, I take my sabbatical.

I had it done once at a occult place but i don't think it was legit. it was just a shady situation so i didn't actually believe in it.

I have had the experience many times, the visions, the feelings, all so real. Wondering if it is just my mind creating the past lives, or wether they are "real" memories locked deep inside.

But I do believe that they are real after many times having the dreams.

Its not really a place you can go its more of fasting and other things to help you get in tune with that side.

I have. By an expert I met in Chinatown, NY. She was very good. She helped clear up some strange dreams I've been having my entire life as well as some fears.

Once when i was younger we had a professor from the university in our city do a past life regression on me... I have always felt since i was a small child that i would not live to see the age of 25.....

I agree with PB - Unless it can be proven that what I see from my supposed past is true and not fiction created by my overproductive mind then I won't believe it. Since there would be no way of proving such a thing, I find the process to be a waste of time and energy.

For a past life regression, the ethereal realm and Akashic records must be accessed. Individuals who try to fool others will ultimately be discovered because of this process. I've done most of my past life work on my own by reaching the ethereal realm, unless I needed a healer of some sorts.

Sometimes "Spirit" will not allow you to access these records for various reasons. I access the Akashic records through prayer and journeying. I do believe that past life pain can bleed into your current life. So, Spirit may allow you to access your former lives for healing and clearing blockages. I've experienced this myself. I personally tend to focus on the here and now, and only look to past lives for healing.

I have had and still do have past life dreams,mostly medieval times. My husband of past times and myself,some really sad and some grand.

I think it fulfils a basic human need Dabbler; as a rule, we're scared of death, of simply not existing anymore. So, we seek proof that death is NOT the end, and our souls, life-forces or whatever will go on.

Personally I'd love to get regressed; I have a theory that certain interests you have in this life are connected to your past live. I'm heavily drawn to about 3 or 4 different periods in time and I'd love to know if I lived in any of them.

I don't think it's true that nobody gets anything out of a regression; for some, delving into a past life can answer questions about recurring illnesses, vivid dreams, or even phobias.

Bu I agree that it can also cause you to neglect your current life in favor of your past ones. The secret is to strike a balance and maintain a safe healthy interest :-)

you don't need anybody to help you do that.. how much of what benefits that person comes out of your sessions? think about the qualification of Phyc workers.. now even they have bad apples, and they have accountablity measures in place to assure their practices.. now do you think that people that get their "certificate" from a seminar are going to be less shady, probly not.. accountable.. again not likely.. Exactly Sinora, I have read that all over the place about what we experienced in past life can slide over into this one. That is what the North and South Nodes are all about in Astrology. The North Node is what you are to be more like and strive for in this life and the South Node is what you were in the past life and what is still causing you some trouble in some areas in this life that you need to get rid of to progress. It's very interesting and very spot on. Find out where your North Node is and read on it in a book. It goes by the year you are born, from a certain time to another. They have tables for it.

Past lives are not uncommon at all. There are many many people who have the knowledge of their own. I personally, have no real interest in knowing about my past lives because I feel it's more important to live in the now and keep moving forward. Who you WERE is who you are NOW spiritually speaking.

I have seen a few specials on Oprah lately that have Dr. Weiss on there taking some people back to past lives. It's so cool and I would love to have it done. It really helps me feel there is more after this in an uncertain world.

With all due respect..... why are there spirits (ghosts) on earth??? if we are reincarnated then how is it was it is??

I believe that I used to have a past life in ancient greece. There is just some info that I thought I made up until I found the info online and I know I've never learned this from school or books or seen it online before. So yes, I do believe in past lives.

I wasn't sure about past lives until someone that I had never met before was able to tell me about a dream I had had several years previously in which I had never told anyone about..he was able to describe every last detail...if it wasn't a past life that we had shared then how could he have known about my dream?

The potential for false memories, the boundaries that people who practice this (without accredidation), among friends I have already said it could be fun, but in a psuado- clinical way.. I am alert to the already existing problems. Role playing plan and simple is benefital yet, to place any value on this is not possible, they have no statement to list the benefits. i've never had a regretion before but I meditate alot and one time I slipped into a dream that was so vivid...anyway when I came out of it like 6 hours later i knew to the core of who I was that the girl there was me. and i could see how she had influenced my life now. I know I'm paying for her sins now. she was a horrible person so I wount go into detail about her but I know she's there and I saw her i belive because I was getting so close to being in touch with myself and in balence that I needed to see her to understand some of the internal influences in my life.

I have found some key elements that may make it possible to have your own create past life experience, you will need a collection of on-line sources, time lines being the first, this will give you a history at a glance to work with, then find on on line job/career source, place jobs in context of eras, and add inventions of the invention time line that you consider a big thing in your life.. and then pin point the hightlight areas.. cross those to your taste and such and poof a past life crafted, from your imagination.

I do not know about past life regression but i know that threw hypnosis you can do age regression..

I can tell a lot about peoples choices of characters in Dungeons and Dragon, or role play (table top games).
I can also tell when they would develop a character other then the one they create.
Then there are those that force roles on their players, it really steals from the creative process and the imagination is limited to specifics.

So I guess I could learn what past life guides claim is metaphsical, or claim/hinted as an alternative for behavioral analysis.

I think the biggest thing the practice has going for it is the fgact that it compliments the reincarnation subscribers, like lay counseling in church spiritual and mental issues are best left untangled. If you have career, or other social anxieties and you want to over come them consider volunteering for something, this will invite other intrest and mingle you with like minded people.

well I can honestly say that I have experinced something like this b4 it freaked me out being that in my past life I was a witch brought to the dark side by my gaurdian I died when experincing this I was out for about 30 minutes when it happend i had litereally drowned and woke up remembering everything I saw and remembering everything I did I met a "witch doctor" if you will she helped me to see the way I went on somewhat of a journey to find out my past she held me down in water to see what I saw in a different time it was the scareyeset thing I had ever gone through drowning littereally dieing and seeing a different side I was so glad that the spell worked.

I do not believe in Past lives; I do find it much more likely that we can access something like genetic memory, or can transcend space/time (such as when sleeping or in trance) to view events that are not our own.

The other night I was looking at a photo of a place that I was sure I have been to in a dream but that I have never been to in this physical reality. I had to contact the peron who owned the photo to find out where and what it was, because I found the place entirely disturbing.

No event prier to this photo has ever resonated quite so personally with me except for a few events in New Orleans that I had prior knowledge of. It is possible that the events that occured in that dream will yet come to pass for me; but the level of resonance I fealt to this particular penitants chaple was cause for self doubt about past life experience.
