Why? Tattooey artist inject the ink in a layer in our skin (I don't know what's it called) so that the INK won't fade..just simple...

Still working on a design for mine. Or rather, working on ideas for a design, and having my best friend work on the design. I'm not much with the artistic side.

I have four tattoos. The first one Ive ever gotten most of you see when you look at my pictures.. the tribal on my back. SOME of you caught the pentagram on my chest. Yup... right smack between "The Girls".

A decent size rose... about 5 1/2" by 3 1/2" on my lower back...

And one on my leg, too...

ok, heres a lil info concerning your comment King.

we need to look first at the structure of skin. The top layer of skin, called the epidermis, is very thin--only 1/10 of a millimeter at most. This is where cells constantly divide from the base layer and move up to the surface to be soughed (sp?) off. Just below the epidermis is a second layer, the dermis, which doesn't undergo the same process of constant replacement.

A tattoo needle penetrates just a couple millimeters into the skin. But that's deep enough to leave a trail of ink all the way into the dermis. So even after all the superficial epidermal cells have sloughed off and all that deal that im sure you guys dont want to read about, tattoo ink remains in the dermis. White blood cells swallow the offending matter and clear, watery lymph removes the encased specks. The bits of tattoo ink, however, are bigger than the white blood cells, which rules out ...surrounding them. So tattoos persist because they defeat the body's cleaning mechanism. A good tattoo ink won't dissolve in dermal fluid or cause an immune response. If the ink did cause an immune response, special white blood cells would gobble up and remove it, blurring the tattoo...and we dunt want that!



so i advice if you are going to ge tat, make sure you have good ink! lol

I got one a couple of weeks ago. Its still scabbing though. Was really scary!! But its helped with my needle phobia.

I have four markings on my back. They are the four children I hold dear to my blacken heart. The names are complete but the back is not. My entire back will be covered. Pics later !!

well if those lil dots count, i have a little one on my wrist...when i was in 2nd grade...one of the mentally challenged kids grabbed me and stabbed me with a pencil, the lead broke inside my wrist and i had to go to the doctor...it left me with a lil grey mark =P

I think it's great that so many of us have the "pencile dot, tattoo." Mine in on the top of my right foot. Got it in 9th grade. I was sitting on the back of a bench at lunch, and was flicking my friend, who was sitting on the bench properly, on the back of the ear. He turned and stabbed me through my shoe. I stopped flicking him and got my first tattoo that day!

my little pencile dot is on my hip, so much for running in the 5 th grade

i don't have any tats right now. planning to get some as soon as i have money. i do have the pencil dot tattoo on my left hand but it looks a little faded.

I, too have the little pencil dot on my right palm. Tried to pull a freshly sharpened pencil from my back pocket while walking down the hall in HS and stabbed my own hand. "I don't give fries with those shakes either....lol"

and to think i used to give tats

ive got 3 tats myself. a lion on my left shoulder, a pegasus on my right shoulder and whats left of a homemade smiley face with a bullet hole in its forehead on my ankle. on that one everything wore off except the eyes. i told my kids its where a snake bit me :)

I've three as well. I have a fairy on my back shoulder, I have a vampire bite with a drop of blood on my breast, and a heart on my ass. Heh

     Sadly to say I only have Henna tatoos... My mom would drop dead or go into a total annoying nagger if I had any permanent one. My mom and her friends nag endlessly when they saw my henna I couldn't handle their much louder shrieks. I would snap and point a shotgun on my mouth.

     I missed that tatoo some kind of a snake figure though it was reallly a writing that means "Happy in Hell" it cost only a 100 buck and I got it from school a tatoo section on our highschool week. School sometimes rock... especially on their misleading influences on kids and teens...

SOme people on this site have lovely tatts. I want oen done, but I want to make sure Im certain on an idea before I do it. My lovely piercist keeps encouraging me, but so far he isnt doing so well :-)

for those who think tats are bad, they have been around for a very long time,there are done so much better and the ink is a whole lot better ,the danger that use to be there has just about gone away,unless you get them from a uncleaned place

i would love to get a tattoo... sadly there are a few things that are making me not get one

1. i'm a symmetry freak. if i have something on my body that's not symmetrical, i'll go insane

2. I want it to be VERY impressive and therefore it could be costly and possible painful

3. I've no idea what design i want...

maybe one day i'll get one... who knows.

i have a "home-made" tat on my left inside ankle. it is a pic of a peace sign inside a bomb. but i am gonna get it covered but forst i am getting a celtic arm band put on.

Tattoos are permanent (well, at the very least extremely expensive and painful to remove, and the scars will always be there).

If you are going to make a permanent modification to your body, you should godsbedamned well *know* all the reasons behind why you are getting EXACTLY what you are getting. Not this, "Ima get a daisy 'cause their cute" crap.

Yes, daisies are lovely flowers, they happen to be my favourite flower.

However (comma - thank you Khay lol), I see so many many people with tribal designs on their lower back, or celtic knotwork bands in various places. "Why did you choose that?" I asked time and again. "Because I think it's pretty" or "Because I thought it looked cool" were the most frequent answers. They are valid answers, but, Gah!

WHAT DO THE FREAKING DESIGNS MEAN TO YOU?! WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO SAY TO YOU? ABOUT YOU?! other than the flash art on the wall was well done?

Tattoos can be a rich way of embroidering your inner self on your outer self. I do view skin as a canvas.

I simply wish more people would think more deeply and with more clarity before slapping Mickey Mouse on their asses and a peace sign with a blunt on their biceps. Are mickey Mouce, peace signs and pot *THE DEEPER YOU?* (big announcer voice)

If the images are just something you think are neat ... make sure you can explain why you want this image on you, why this bit of art added to the artwork of your natural skin is meaningful for you.

I get tired of trite pieces. I see enough flash on tattoo parlour walls. I want to see real peoples' thoughts on their bodies in ink.

Requiem... i agree wholeheartedly. lately everyone seems to be getting tattoos without having the least idea what the hell they mean. just cos they look good. hell theres a lot of things that look good but that doesnt necessarily mean they're gonna look good to you forever. tattooing yourself just cos it looks cool is the surest way to regret it in a couple of years time. best wait for a bit, be sure about what you're going to do and what the tattoo is gonna remind you of in a few years time, then do it, if you're really sure about it.

Right now I have 4 tattoos. Will add in my portfolio soon. One is there now.

Ok, one is on my ankle, is an ivy vine, although needs more flowers, with an Ankh dangling from it. I have my name written in Egyptian heiroglyphs. I have an Ankh, on the right arm, with all the astrology symbols around it/the arm. And, last, I have an Egyptian cartouche, on my lower back, with health, happiness, everlasting life on there (Ankh), a pyramid and the eye of Horus, or Ra, I have a hard time keeping them straight. One has a feather up and one down I believe. Something like that. Lotus flowers are coming from the sides of it. That was a painful one! Would like more color to it, but not by the same guy. Goes too deep...and doesn't like small ones. I had to wrestle him to do it small.
I have several ideas of more, but I can't get too many more, or I will have to join the circus and be in a cage, next to the dog faced boy.

OK...for those who want to know why we get inked.......each tattoo is a part of the person's personel history....a page in our book of life. Each Tattoo I have, was designed by me over a long period of time, and a welcome addition to my body. Yes, they are permanent and I regret none of them. The only time I am surprised is when the Tattoo is brand new, and I'm not used to seeing color where there was blank white skin. It's a shame you can't see why Tattooed people love them.......it's who we are.

All Tattoo people agree with one thing......Once you get one.....you will get more!

you are right. Tattoos are an addiction. Once you get past that first one, you know you are going back for more. The tattoo artists are counting on it.

i got my pencil one in the 3rd grade i think. we had a fire drill and we were coming back in and someone with a pencil ran in to me and stabed me. the mark is on my right hand right next to my ring finger knuckle.

but yeah i do love everyones tatts here they are all really nice.
