Is there a reason you are who you are?

If that is too broad, is there a reason you are a vampire? Or you just are one randomly.

Made sense to me.

I know who I am at this particular moment in life and I know myself well. As to why.. well we are all a certain way due to how we how we were born, and the aspects(people we meet, places we go, what we learn, etc.), experiences and details of our lives are factors of what make us who we are.

Those here may or may not get my drift, but I believe you are born who you are unique only unto yourself..... a rough draft , a blue print. How poorly or how well you play the hand your dealt depends on your outside influences , personal experiences .....that sort of thing.

I have always known who I am ,what I am and what I will become.

Random acts , combined with geography had played a supporting roll in some of the choices I had made and even choices others had made in my life and many of the outcomes that had presented themselves from those choices were a direct result, but again that had been laid out in the blue print the day I was even conceived. Allowing me to be the same difference where ever I may be.

im just me. i have an idea why i am what i am, but for me it doesnt matter. most (even here) will question whether im just seeking attention (not interested in attention) or im seriously deluded (perhaps...be we all delude ourselves in some way dont we?). either or, im not a danger to myself or others so i stand by my first statement. im just me.

Since no one has figured out why people say they are vampires other than personal belief, I wouldn't know. I have my ideas and so do a lot of other people but they aren't all the same. It is like asking why are you a human being. No two of us are alike but some of us have similar ways of doing things, likes and dislikes and upbringing and things like that.

Whereas those who claim to be vampires don't seem to have that same thing. They come from all walks of life. You could read: Vampires Today: The Truth About Modern Vampirism by Joseph Laycock. It might be more informative from the prospective of one who does not claim to be a vampire but did a comprehensive research project with those all over the country. This is a quote:

Most believe they are born the way they are but they don't know why even though some have hypothesized reasons specific to themselves there is no confirmation that anything anyone believes is correct. There are too many people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life that believe this. So many that refuting it is ignorant. Why is not answerable. I personally don't believe it has anything to do with Cain, Judas or Lilith. I think most that surrounds these people are mere legends and good for works of fiction.

I think my Mother was and most of my children but it is not recognized by them. I don't know why but there are certain characteristics and other than that I won't say further. It appears in my case to have followed the maternal family line because I don't have enough definitive information about my ancestors.

I for one have always been an outsider in many ways. Therefore the Gothic and Vampire lifestyles have always been attractive for me. Not being defined by a mainstream imagery which I decry on a regular basis.

Well in reguards to the vampyrism i believe we are who we are because of an imbalance within whether it is nutrition or energy that we must attain in order to simply function daily... comfortably.

To teach a little wisdom?

So what is wisdom, it is the application of knowledge.

There are many that know much but are unable to bring that which they know to the real world.
There are a few who know less but are able to bring that which they know in the real world ...to great effect.

A good example, my suggestion a year ago that matter has an equal an opposite spectrum for every wavelength we can see and measure.

Now the Cerne Hadron collider and co and co are working on this theorem that antimatter doe exactly the opposite to normal matter.

Gravity works the wrong way on dark matter....hence all those flying Witches.

If I understand what you are asking you are wanting to know why we are the way we are? That being who we are as a person and how we became who we are today the struggles and pain we have done in life?

Well if so, I am the way I am due to pain, anger, hate, love, lust and the list goes on and on. As a child i never got what most did a normalish family who loved and cared for you, I came from a broken home, were the first ten years of my life I lived with my grandmother. My mother never wanted me and tried to pawn me off on alot of people. My real father tried to kill me when I was a baby and at the age of 20 (I tried to see him and he stabbed me). My mother mentally abused me, with the normal you are fat you ugly, i wish you would die, my father abused me with his fist at the age 15 i started fighting back. That was around the time I was raped and no one believed me, thought i was a lied, up to about 16 I would never lie, and then I turned in to what my friend called alexzandra. I was a Narcissus, i lied ALOT, I would steel started running drugs for a friend and drank. after some pretty fucked up other things I did around 21 or so I started to cool my heels and found my calling.

The reason I am the strong hard working person I am today is due to the act I am a fighter and I never ever give up no matter how hard it is, I will make it and kick life in the teeth.

May I impart a little wisdom, as suggested for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction, I think Sir Isaac Newton figured that out.

Now, as above I applied that Law of the universe to light, so a known wavelength or part of light we see from our Sun is known as ultraviolet. Bees and insects see the ultraviolet light reflecting from flowers. There is an equal and opposite force lets call "vulture iolet.." you get the principle.

Now think about your own position of anger and hatred? where has it got you?

In life, I am willing to bet all that negative thinking has multiplied over, time and time again, down the Well of Souls as Satan is licensed to do so.

That is a tough question, because there is no reason as why I am who I am. Is just part of the evolution of life.

I am who I am today due to certain circumstances in my life (not all of them great or good), but I go with that saying "What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger"...

Not everybody will ever understand me completely (with the exception of a few), but that doesn't bother me, I have learned how to wear many different masks, they fall into place effortlessly, but on the inside I'm still me no matter what I'm showing on the outside.

Yes, I believe there is a reason each person is the way they are. I do believe in God and I believe in His creation and purposes, but I'll set that aside for my explanation of my belief :)

Nature and nurture.
Biologically, we are all different. Chemical balances in our brain can cause drastically different behavior from person to person. Studies of identical twins separated at birth have shown that they have similar traits, tastes and ideas, even though they aren't raised together. Then again, they also exhibit differences.
Nurture, how we are raised, plays a large part. For instance, if one is raised without a lot of love and care, that person may crave love and care and give it because they never received it, thus creating a drive to help. If a child is not shown boundaries as a child, as an adult, that individual may have a harder time with boundaries in life, and this translates into personality.

Whether biological or due to our upbringing or other experiences in our lives, there is a reason that we are the way we are.

taking this from a different direction, im also me because of the books ive read. when i was a teen i read j.r.r. tolkien, i read the works of robert a. heinlein, and i read ayn rands "atlas shrugged" (at the recommendation of a teacher). there were alot more than just these, but they did give me the view that each of us must be self reliant. each of us should be constantly self educating whether in school or not, each of us should keep our body strong because when your all alone, you and your abilities are your last line of defense. constantly reevaluate your dreams, and figure out how to actually make them happen. a dream without action is like masturbation...it may feel good but at the end of the day what have you actually accomplished?
my life experience has taught me to avoid those that constantly harp on about what someone else should be giving them, and instead try mostly to associate with those that decide what they want, then make a plan and put it into action.

You're all giving good and interesting answers, but you have misunderstood the question which is; is there a reason why you are a vampire? So it's not about your life story but rather your vampiric nature. It's about the point of view from a vampire.

Some crowds can effect my emotions. If a crowd is happy and energized, it can make me feel... euphoric. Passion and desire can also give me an extra feeling of being alive. When emotions are high, during a debate or fight, I can also feel that feeling.

I believe Psy vampire is the term that would be the closest to a description for me. However, I don't really believe that is what I am. I think its a normal occurrence for some people. People's moods can influence the way we feel.

I was created through genetic evolution and enculturation, yet I now control my belief system based upon all that I consume.

My fangs grew in when I was 12. My parents organised a coming of age party and I was given a new coffin and a spiffy hooded cloak. I was the envy of every little vampire in my neighbourhood.

I am many people and many things.

as to what makes us what we are...genetics gives us the potential of strength or intellect, a good family can produce one type of person, where as a dysfunctional family with iffy parenting can and will produce a very different person. there are so many variables from a chance meeting, to a book you once read that makes us all what we are. a very complex topic indeed.

The family we are born to and the circumstances of our life help to make us who we are. But ultimately we make the decision how we will react to our circumstances and what path we will walk.

For example~when we endure heartless cruel acts upon us as children we can chose whether we become bitter hardened adults or we can chose to let it make us stronger and more empathetic (especially towards those that have endured similar circumstances).

The reason for me being me is simply...ME! I made the choices on how I turned out and I accepted the consequences for those actions and live with them.

i think the reason we all are what we are is because of the choices and paths we have taken to get to where we all are right now, perhaps destiny and fate may play a role in it or even karma and reincarnation but in whole i think we are what we are because of personal choices made by us.

ah - but we made those choices because of who and what we are. ultimately, we do not choose to like or dislike something. if life were that simple, everyone would be the same, which to be honest would be truly boring.

I am what i am for a few reasons. I have been this way forever and i accept the fact that i am and since it had defined my very nature, will not prefer to have it any other way. As far as considering myself a vampire? I do not use that term. I may enjoy the taste of blood but do not need it to sustain myself so that wouldn't be the proper term. I feel we are what we learn to be. As in what is shown to us from an early age. I think a lot of what influences us as individuals is what we see and are exposed to in our modern culture such as what is viewed on television in music and movies. What society tells us we should be.

Personally I believe who we are or are not at this very moment is based on a combination of our own life experiences and personal choice. This view of ourselves may or may not change as time goes on. Am I the same person as I was at 19? No, Ive changed and adapted but the core of who I am remains the same so whatever or whoever I am will always contain a small part that doesnt change.

That's pretty much it, we are a composition of the elements that have arranged themselves and function in a manner we call human. We are an intelligent form of hydrogen and oxygen mixed with other elements and everything we do is based on how elements react with each other under certain conditions.

Evolution is basically the theory that bad combinations of elements or combinations that did not do well under the conditions they were faced with were incapable of functioning well, and there for died.

I understand what you are saying, however what about the people who have devolved, as an individual? Meaning those who used to be say a mathematician, and are now instead a blogger for a Sasquatch sighting fan club? Not that it is a bad thing but wouldn't their talents be more useful elsewhere?

If they can adapt and survive the environment then they will, and many do, take aligators, sharks, and cockroaches for example, their conditions have changed many times but they managed to evolve to survive them and what they are and were are still comparable.

I do not believe Vampyrism is a disease, an imbalance, or a generally negative thing. I am a "Sanguinary Vampyre", and I have more physical benefits now than I did prior to my "Awakening" process.
As for why? well..

I believe both spiritual, and genetic explanations apply here. Mainly spiritual, but also genetic. I believe Vampyrism is both a state of the soul, and a physical state of the body. They work as one, yet are seperate and have their own purposes and jobs to maintain and uphold.

I need to consume blood. I have no mental illnesses, blood diseases, or anything else of that nature. I've checked many times, believe me.
If I don't consume blood, I'm even more sensitive to the sun than I am now, some of my already heightened senses heighten further (only at night, when not under the strain of the sun. Or when inside.), I begin to get sick physically, my skin loses it's tone, I suddenly get cold like symptoms from seemingly nowhere, nosebleeds, headaches, and I get weaker and weaker the longer I go.

Will I die if I don't consume blood? From what I've seen, how far i've actually gone without and how serious things got, I think it's entirely possible, however, it would take a long time.

..my soul, my genetics, and..
..well, me, as a result.

Personally I was kind of forced into this lifeforbidden. (I consented to becoming a vampire without knowing the true nature of what I was going to become) but, over these last two years I'm starting to accept this lifeforbidden that my sire has put in but now both of us have no hard feelings against each other and both my sire and I are still trying to figure out how to deal with my new found abilities.

I'm still not to sure why my sire chose me to live in this lifeforbidden but, I'm enjoying it and taking everything one day at a time.

I've had a fascination with vampires and anything else supernatural/paranormal since childhood.
I would never choose it for myself, but ever since I came across the viral/genetic theories within vampiric mythology I've been looking to my Mother's side of the family and left wondering... I'm a fence sitter with most things including the existence of vampires, so while I can't say if I am one I do recognize some peculiarities within my family that bear similarities to vampirism.
After all, witchery already runs on that side of the family and speaking with the dead on my Dad's side of the family as well...
