I seen something on TV the other day. It was a wedding show, and as soon as I turned over to that station..I seen a Gothic wedding....My mom said it's horrible..but I loved it!! Some traditions are made to be bent..or broke..hehee..
What do you think about Gothic weedings..or anyother kind?
I think they're awesome. My fiancee and I are having one. We can't wait.
I'm all for them, but I will never have one, Just a victorian wedding.
I love the idea for one main reason. I do not believe in God, so to swear erternal love for Haley to him ( which I don't believe) I think would contridic everything I stand for. I wil be dressed in a kilt to honor my family and our English name....as for her...hey she wears what she wants she's the ....eh em, the....*cough*....the...*clears throat* The Boss.....
I love the idea of a gothic wedding...
It's much more beautiful and romantic in my opinion. I am definitely having one :)
i would love to have a gothic wedding!
when i was little i would tell my mom
"i want to get married at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and i wanna wear a long crimson dress with black in it!!!!!" i told her that when i was 5 and i think i said i wanted to get married to lestat! hahah.
sadly i think i will never find someone that would want to marry me! hahaha

me and my ex was going to have a gothic with a mix of vampire wedding...which would had been cool cause we live in las vegas at the time
but we did not stay together over a year...
so no wedding for us
Weddings are personal experiences, and thus up to the soon-to-be-betrothed to decide the theme.
Personally, I think a gothic wedding would be cool, if it was executed well.
And I always liked the idea of a black wedding dress myself.
I can say I had a gothic weeding. I even have some pics of it in my port. Then I had a beautiful catholic wedding. However, I prefer the gothic one for personal reasons.
im planning on having a gothic/vampyric wedding... i even already have my gown, I just have to get him to act right lol... Actually the spots open ::yells:: ANYONE WANT TO GET MARRIED? lol (jk)
Gothic weddings are beautiful but if u do anything even remotely creative or diffrent with ur wedding people will ask u if you're "really married". If I had a pretty wedding I'd want to wear fairy wings.
I was once on a gothic wedding it was great all the nice dresses and a beautiful bride. I wanna do the same one day. Ok their divorce was like the one of everybody else, there was nothing gothic on it. :)
Good luck with all those who want one.. I *TRIED* to have a Masquerade for my reception.. nad got the infamous "We're NOT attending" crap from my family. Grrr. So now we're "running away" to ahve a quickie at City hall on May Day. :D
I believe in God, but having a gothic wedding still sounds really cool.
Besides, the guy i like doesn't believe in God, so i think he would prefer a gothic wedding anyway.
=)
Me and my hubby got handfasted (pagan ceremony) and had a gothic dress code. We are getting married (buy law) in two weeks and we're having a medievel theme. I think its good to personalise the ceremony to your tastes.
x
i think that people should get married anyway they damn well want to. they are paying for it right?
I think any type of wedding is great. It depends on the couple beliefs or sexuality...if...of course...you marrie with the person you love!
I doubt I will ever marry, but if I do I would consider a gothic wedding , the ones I have seen are amazing...
I like anything different. I thought of having a unique wedding for friends and some family and a more traditional one for other family. Then again I might just go to Hawaii and get "hitched". lol
I had a greek gothic wedding. my bouquet -- a single calalily, my bridesbaids -- all in black cocktail dresses, spikey collars, boots, and indigo hair in some cases, a gothic belly dancer, my dress was a tango dress which looked killer...
oh i almost forgot the music. at first it was apocolyptica which is metallica music played with 4 cellos. later most of the people my mother invited fled because the music was too heavy. *rolls eyes*
My friends Mina and Mandy got maried in the woodland area of a park, it was a beautiful pagan wedding, very traditionally gothic, and it was wonderful.
If I ever get married, my dream would be at Stone Henge.
well im a pagan not a christian .. still i am not havin a wedding
meh and meh fiancee are havin a good old fashion handfasting .. but threw a friend o mine tat works fer the state so its legaly reconized ;) tat way we get benis like a married couple but arnt married :D
Whether it's a Christian ceremony with a "gothic" dress code or a handfasting done while wearing wings, a wedding is a personal expression of the couple being married and is beautiful whatever they decide.
Also, the tradition of a bride wearing white didn't start until Queen Victoria - who wore a white gown and had a small, intimate ceremony; unheard of for royalty. Until that time a woman wore her best dress and continued to wear it after. Seems more practical to me, especially since my dress is in a bag in my closet ;)
I'd love to go to one, they seem really cool, i've been to a handfasting before and that was cool
I have thought about doing kind of a masked ball themed wedding with a hint of a gothic theme to it. But first I would have to find someone worthy of marriage.
So long as you are BOTH comfortable with it, I think a gothic wedding would be sooo cool, Id love to find someone to share it with
i think that it is a good idea,even to have it in the fall ,just to make the surroundings blend to make it perfect
i think a gothic wedding would be beautfiful. i would like it in burgundy and black. Every wedding is one's choice, but i think you could sell to mundanes in your family by telling them it is as a romantic period type wedding.
one day I hope to have a Gothic wedding...they are so romantic...any wedding's really romantic..but I love the Goth theme better.
i think that a wedding is a special thing and the women should be able to have any kind og wedding she wants no one should be able to tell her what she can or cannot do....so my point is a gothic wedding is cool if you want to have one
Good luck and congrats LaMuerte!!! May the Gods bless your every step... As for the post, I've seen one gothic wedding so far and it was AWESOME!!! i'd love to attend more but you just don't see them often. But all the same, I love'em.
I would like to be remarried someday, and having a gothic/romantic/victorian wedding would be ideal for me... the idea of a masqued ball theme is wonderful.. yes, a white wedding dress came much later and one should wear whatever they want....and a hand fasting is also would be full of special meaning to me.
Depending on the situation with family and certain friends, having a simple ceremony for them, and then having exactly what you want for yourself has been done by friends and seemed to make everyone happy.
it what in you and not what people think do what you want and ever one that dose not like it can go to hell
if anyone is ever crazed enough to marry me ive had the most wonderful idea...
a mix of gothic, victorian, the labyrinth movie and a costume ball.
id go into further detail but im afraid someoen would steal the idea... even if i may never get to use it....... damnded if anyone else will! tis my precious!!
weddings are a great thing i regret seeing people who dont understand what a wedding means in any form and abuse it....
I think that different types of weddings should be accepted. They have underwater weddings, sky diving weddings, and all these other types why not gothic? I plan to have a gothic wedding someday. Of course, I'll have to have two weddings though. One for my parents and one for me.
I think your wedding should reflect who you are! When I got married i took a bits of different weddings and created my own it was held on a full moon on the point of the east coast in New Zealand overlooking the sea all the woman in the bridal party wore bare feet and muslin and lace dresses and the men pirate shirts n black jeans kinda of a medievil theme, we used a celebrant and the reception resembled a keg party with a bit of class (haha) it was fun and it was all about us sharing it ourway with friends and family
if /wen u get married u should plan ur weddin around u and wat ur about not wat is expected lik everyother wedding the white gown black and white tux curch ceremony it should be 2 ur likins and to ur tastes
marriage is over-rated...but a ceremony that binds to people together is worth it..just not in the tradition sence due to the fact that people break vowes
No matter what the ceromoney its what you and your mate believe and its the love you share not the ceromony and free beer
I was never one big on weddings. I never dreamed of one when I was little. So for me if the person I love wants to get married I would be honored and would do it more towards what he liked I geuss since I have such a little opinion in it heh. But if it was dark like that that would be cool. =D
i think there awsome to do something different i would liek to have one cuz im not going to be like everyone else i have my own style
well all i say is congrads to the lucky couples soon to be married!!
I always dreamed about my own gothic wedding hell at the age of 13 i wanted to get married. lol but i know im waiting for the right guy to come my way. (which i have found him but lost him though me and him will be back together someday in the future!!)
I waz told by my family all except for my cousins would not attend my wedding since they want me to get married in a white dress and in a church. First off i can't get married in a church since i didnt do my last thing when i was in church school (which i got my mom to stop bringing me since i had to put up alot of fights with her) and second hell no to the white wedding dress!! that shit is for the whole idea that ur a virgin is fucked up!! Whut if your not a virgin would u still have to wear that color to ur own wedding? Well i think not. So when i dated my 13th b/f at the time he finally gave in and bought me my black medevil wedding dress from lip service(torrid's clothing store had it) since now im lucky they dont even make the dress nomore. it was anniversary gift from him to me. I was so happy to get it!! I'm planning on wearing it with a hooded cape that i made it. (Its in my portfolio pics well u can see from the chest up).
I was engaged 2 times but the guys never pull though since one was far away and the second one was (before the guy im now with) became very depressed and then blamed me for all his problems on me after his dad died so he dumped me. (i dont care he waz fucked in the head so whut). he wanted to have a gothic/pagan then another idea of a gothic/vampyric wedding i was make up ur dam mind but after all the shit i went though with him im very glad im not going to marry his ass.
so my dream wedding is to get married gothic/vampyric (if possible vampyric wise) wear that outfit i just said and have my husband to be wear the outfit as a white poet shirt (with the ruffles of course) black pants, black boots, black trench coat and with also a black top hat + cane (which if he would like to borrow my skull cane i have i wouldnt mind him using)
but as for the place to marry im having a hard time figure it out. either in las vegas becuz of that place that does it and has a gothic limo aka a hearse :) , a hall or city hall then have a big ass party with friends/family or have it in a cemetary then have a party afterwards somewhere else. so i have to figure that one out.
as for the date oh hell yeah Halloween!!! October 31st will be the date! and i dont care if its on a weekday or weekend im going to get married on that day.
as for the food, i dunno but the wedding cake will be like the corspe bride cake (if u have seen the movie) but the inside will be made of devil's food and outside will have black frosting and the bones will be red frosting and on the top will be the 2 mini figures from living dead dolls misery and tradegy (sp?)
Beautiful,romantic and mysterious!!
so thats whut i think about gothic weddings!
I take an interest in them, but I wouldnt have one, my parents would kill me. I have always pictured a white wedding in spring, seems gay, I know but its the truth. I wouldnt mind having one, its the fact that when I get married I want my family members there to see my big moment, and I want to have my father daughter dance like the rest of them, and all that good stuffs. but like I said gothic weddings rule! hehe
i think to each their own if somebody wants a traditonal wedding then fine and if somebody wants a gothic wedding then that's fine to
Gothic wedding are great. There are so many things that you can do that is not normal in a regular wedding. Wear black not white! Drink blood not wine!! Get jiggy with it!
i think it would be hot to have one. sometimes its time for a change. weddings are yeah all white and crap but a black wedding would be even hotter
That would be most beautiful. A gothic wedding on halloween! haha, Definatly! I do not at all want a white wedding. HELL NO! not for me. Definatly original!!
I think if both people are up to it then go for it. Personally I want to get married at night outside with a slightly gothic theme. I think that would be more romantic then a daytime wedding because there would be torches and candles and red and black rose amongst other things.
gothic weddings are very unique and mine will be unique too.
i am planning on having my wedding at my future club twisted freak
i want to have a crimson cake with a black rose on it and black linings to it too.
i want me and my future wife to slit our hands and drink the blood as a sybol of our love, and when i get married i will wear a black tux with blood red strips and im plainign on having the wedding dress a faded black with tattered cotton candy pink lace(very beautiful, and if you like or dont like the ideas i have for my wedding message me and ill tell more
gothic weddings are beautiful, unique, and im all for them. im an agnostic, and ive never even been in a church, so that would be just weird for me to get married in a place where i have no beliefs and never been before... i would definately have one, but now the task of finding someone close to me who shares that dream, hm....someday
black and red victorian style wedding dress, most beautiful thing ever XD
i think any wedding that brings ou ty our true self is the most beautiful wedding you could ever have....I love different ideas of weddings my friend is getting married next year and she is having a how do i put this..." gangster" wedding...its going ot look great.....
weddings are great if they are the two right people for eachother. but if they'r not it only leads in tears and blood!
i like the gothic wedding thing everyone should have one lol
i think there pretty cool its nice to no that people are willing to mix it up a little bit
In my neck of the woods it would be considered pretty abnormale but id attend
i want to have one but its going to have to be behind my mothers back
Voltaire's new book on Gothic decoration, Paint It Black, has an entire section on gothic weddings and making them cheaply. It's a great read!
I love the idea. I just got married 2 years ago and there is so much pressure to do the usual things. I resisted most of them but I gave in on the dress. My dress was silver. I longed for a black dress. but like I said there are a lot of giving in especially with inlaws who are not use to the Gothic lifestyle.
I wonder what a homosexual gothic marriage would be like??
If I found the someone I'm meant to be with, maybe I'll just have a wedding.
THET ARE FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!! I'm haveing one in a couple months. I'm so happy.
~Master Damien~
I am going to have a goth wedding...lots of black and blood ceremony
lol. it's funny that you would set this as a topic.
I have been thinking about gothic weddings for awhile...
I'm going to have one, that's for sure.
with lots of black(my fave color) and red(my boyfriend's fave color)
my mother and some of my friends think having a black wedding dress would be totally against tradition and somewhat disrespectful. I disagree...
Gothic weddings are cool, I d love to have one myself,
gothic weddings are awsome and if i evr get married i'm letting who i'm marrying pick what they want but a goth wedding would be awsome.....
(my friends mom and dad had a jeff gordan wedding lol)
I'm torn between a gothic/vampiric wedding, and one like Labyrinth. I want a dress like Sarah wears in the dream sequence! And if I can get my intended into the goblin kings maskerade ball outfit...even better!
I would love to have cross between a gothic themed and a handfasting....but that's if I decide to get married
if i could find a man that would risk dating me.... i would love to have a gothic wedding
i'm all for it
i really don't like conventional wisdom
i would probabily wear black jeans and t-shirt and a long black leather duster for mine
that is if i ever find a lady that will stay long enough for that to happen
My friends sister did a blue jean wedding...I wouldn't go that casual..but it was interesting.
I think Gothic weddings are awesome because they're so original and non-traditionalish. I'm very much into "non-traditional" things when it comes to relationships. Just ask my boyfriend - I'm the one who asked HIM out instead of it being the other way around. :)
I am all for them. I have never wanted the traditional wedding. I have always wanted my wedding to be unique or different and very special to me and my future husband. I have a few different ideas as to what I want but I think it is great to do something different and it should matter how you do it. What should matter is that you did it for the right reason and that you did what made you two happy! It is your special day not anyone elses and all that should truly matter is you two! here are some unique weddings you can have if you don't have the money or ideas to do it on your own:

To me, a wedding is whatever you chose it to be. It's your day, and if it's to be a gothic wedding then go for it. :)
A wedding is what you make it and if you want it to be that way, then that's fine. I personally don't want one, a Gothic wedding portfolio would be awesome, but not the whole wedding.
I think it is up to the couple to decide a theme. If it is a mutual decision then let them have a gothic wedding.
Personally, I would love one. They seem so much more elegant.
I think a gothic wedding would be beautiful and romantic...your mother says it's horrible, but that IS because people have different views...but yes, I agree, it's wonderful...
i will one day have a morbid gothic wedding as soon as i can find a man who loves me and gets me as i am. i think ordinary traditional is sooooooo boring!
I think gothic weddings are great! I have made flower arrangements for several, much more fun than the usual boring bouqets with something like white roses or callas.
And if I ever get married I will definely have a gothic wedding!
I love Gothic Weddings.
What's not to love about them?
Love is what really matters, gothic wedding would be the best if both love each other and want that to tell it to the world
WELL I RECENTLY GOT ENGAGED AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE GOTHIC WEDDING.BUT HIS FAMILY WOULD NOT COME IF WE DID .I CAN PICTURE IT ME IN A BLACK LACE DRESS.
I have already designed the dress for my fiancee.
I don't care if any of our relatives come to the wedding.
She doesn't care either.
If I ever did get married, and that's a huge if, I would envision it as a gothic wedding.
gothic wedding are awesome. when i get married, if i get married i want to have one. i my self think that they are the most elegant of any weddings i have ever seen, if done right.
ooo i think it would be awso,me to have a gothic wedding... :D
that would be totaly awesome and so much better than regualar ones
i was in a renasance wedding awile back and i got to say it was pritty kick ass.
I've alwasy wanted to get married at a cementary on halloween night at midnight. I love gothic,ressiances weddings, I already I my wedding dress just need to find the right one for me whish i think i have i dunno
I would have loved a gothic wedding, but it just wasnt practical.
Andfor the black dress brigade... my friend got married in church, wearing a black wedding dress with red ribbon corsetry.
And i've attended a couple of other church weddings where the bride wore black, and one where the groom wore the top hat, tails and ruffled shirt.
Its your wedding, wear what you like, wether its in a church or not!
Why not?
You can have a Hindu wedding and all sorts of other, so why not Gothic?
Gothic weddings.....I was married one time lol!! Hence the word's "one time" My "ex" was really not a gothic person, but we did make the day happy for the 2 of us...I had my gothic dress (NOT WHITE) hahaha...Over all I think they are my kind of wedding. Yet he also had his orginal everyday wedding as well, it was like a 2 for the price of 1 deal.
No matter what kind of wedding it maybe, the out come will alway's be the same, you either make it in this world as a married couple, or you don't...Hopefully who ever get's married will have a better out come then mine!
I think that a Gothic Wedding would be neat. But both parties involved would have to agree.....I'm not sure though if I would have one or not.
actually my dream is to have one of those. black dress, ppl dressed in black, nothing but the light of candles.... red roses.... wow :D
i'm against weddings...only love count, a wedding is something invent by the society, and his only effect is: death of all that is beautifull in a relationship....it is like u are enchain forever, there is a paradox..if u divorce it is very possible to fall in love again, even by the same person...so WEDDINGS, gothic or nongothic are unnatural, a brake for the Evolution...:)
If I ever find someone that I want to marry and reciprocates that notion then I'd love to have some sort of Gothic themed wedding, or a Victorian or one in the Antebellum Southern style.
I think it would be cool...if you and your mate both want it then it's your day (at least it's supposed to be) I always wanted a Halloween wedding complete with make-up and costumes
Viva Las Vegas Hotel has a themed Gothis room with coffins & everything
I think the idea of a gothic wedding is awsome. My husband I wanted to do it for our wedding, but our budget just wan't big enough. I'm hoping we can do it for our anniversary.

I think a Gothic wedding would be awesome but like anything when to many ppl do it..it loses its appeal. If I were ever to get married again..I would like it a mixture of Goth..as so society deems it..and Renn.
Long ago, did the traditional wedding - but if there is a next time, it will be part goth, part Victorian, part romantic . . .
i love the idea of gothic wedding. i personally want my wedding held in a cemetery, preferablly at night but i suppose that part is flexible. and a black corseted wedding dress with fishnets... i'm getting all tingly just thinking about it. ;D.
a goth wedding is the best ive only seen bit on tv but they look so much better than traditional ones
i think that they rule, when i get married im going to have one
let the lovers choose what they want it is their wedding.
i believe that ne type of wedding would still be beautiful it shouldnt matter how u do it just as long as u know that u care about the other. sometimes family doestn agree with how its done but if u like the idea then ok go with it. its ur weddin not theres.
~~~ Lilith ~~~
Who says there has to be a white dress to commit to someone? I think that expressing love is different for everybody and everybody has the right to do it the way they see fit. Any wedding is beautiful.
The " traditional " wedding is beyond outdated! I believe that a wedding should reflect the people involved and not the guests!
Yea Gothic Weddings are cool. I wish I could go to one. It would be awsome! I have seen a few of them on tv and in movies/shows and I think thy are kool.
gothic weddings sound relly cool. me and my boyfriend are having a gothic wedding. the whole thing is just really just amazing.
Personally I love the idea with a mixture of victorian added! But weddings really depend on the couple and how the feel about certain things, so they might have to compromise on a few levels.
I would love to get married in a cementary at midnight on halloween. I seen the weird weddings they have on tv and i really like it.
Any kind of wedding besides the traditional ones are awesome! Not because of what they are, but because they are different. Everyone has the traditional, that is so lame and boring -- no offense.
I want an extremely small wedding, but I want it to be unique. Not where other people would have it, like in a church, on at the beach, I want to have it someone exotic. Like... a plane! Empire state building! Somewhere unique, not the old fashion way. They bore me.
♥
I believe that your wedding day is yours. So, celebrate the way you wish! Mine was not gothic but I have heard of them and think them to be a pretty cool idea!
I think it is a cool idea. This is your Big Day and no one has the right to say No you can't do that
ive had of gothic weddings with the one i love, i find it to be very romantic and beautiful, i would love to have one
I think it would be awesome to have a Gothic wedding, if I were ever to get married. My neighbors were married at a haunted amusement part, on Halloween day which I think was awesome and they had a costumed reception. To me, the Gothic fashion is a beutiful thing, if done tasefully, and therefor, a Gothic wedding would be quite romantic.
I've never seen a gothic wedding all though it would prolly be pretty interesting but I can never have one. I actually dont want one either. My boyfriend doesnt even really like this side of me. It freaks him out. Plus I'm kinda a traditionalist.
