Do you believe that people on earth can communicate with the dead? I have had dreams after people who were close to me died, the person would come to me and tell me that they were in fact ok and to go on with life and not worry about them, do you think this is the dead trying to sooth me or my mind dreaming it because thats what I want to hear?
I have also experienced phsycic dreams about events that i dream and really happen so thats why I am also wondering if it is possible that I am really communicating with the dead.

Any thoughts

True, mrd, and unfortunately, far too many fakers out there. I know from my own experience and those of friends and acquaintances of communication with the deceased, that despite one's religious beliefs, that there can be a form of communication, be it two way or one way... and it is true how religion will sway one's thoughts in the matter.

Thanx for all the comments it just came to be a question for me when my grandmother recently died and I had a dream where she took my hand and we went for a walk down a path and she told me she was fine and to go on with life...... and it has happend in the past as I said with others who have died close to me, I am not very religious so I am open to pretty much anything.

Regardless of whether or not it was real or chemical illusion..it matters not. If you were comforted and took something you felt was meaningful away from it..that's all that counts. I have personal faith that our loved ones may indeed look on after us..for what it's worth.

Personally I believe this to be true- because its happened and still happens with me. No need for details.

I don't think it could ever be proven, because people will only believe what they can personally see and feel- and if you can't see or feel it for yourself- skepticism will remain.

I don't think I am special, and even with what I know to be true, I am still skeptical of what others say they experience.

I believe your dreams are only expressions of your subcounscious. Nothing else. You have a conscius or subconscious desire to comunicate with the dead and it's represented in your dreams. That's it.

I believe it is true as well. I've had similuar dreams, which I've taken as a sign of relief.
But as was said earlier on, there are a lot of fakers out there.

yes of course. when we die we don't really die.. we just go to another plane of existance. and if you are powerful enough to cross to that existance and find someone you loved and talk to them than it is entirely possible. the stronger your love for that person the more likely chance of you will see them in your dreams. when you dream you are merely astral projecting into another plane.

There are many fakers when it comes to talking to the dead, but there is truth as well. Yes, I believe it is sometimes possible to talk to the dead. Not always, but sometimes.

hmm I do belive in it, couse where I live there is constantly activity.
You never can get a good night sleep of all the knockings going on in the home.
Not to mention when I watch tv and sudenly it sounds like someone rubbs their fingers towards the window or something.
That even hapened when I was standing right next to the place it made the sound.

+my mother is psyckic she senses them, and it is propably becouse of her they are here.......you know the ghosts are atrackted to the ones that can see them mostly, as I hear.

i do belive in death because where do all of our loved ones go what happens to them do you think they do with themselves do they suffer or have fun come to my page and tell me what you think

Yes certain people can communicate with the dead. Its like you have to have a certain part of your brain active to do that.

Well I believe it is possible as well....just hard to grasp at times that you have these experiences...but I come from a long line of woman who have visions so it's not terribly surprising....thanx for all your wise opinions.

our brain is a remarkable thing and if we could use the whole brain, it would be interresting to see what happens i heard people say they have talk to the dead but it has been said several times there are fakes out there

The thing to remember about people who can communicate with the dead and psychics as well...some on who can true perform these acts will not broadcast to the world. They know what type of energy it takes and really don't want the attention.

Unless they are confused about what is going on and then they will seek advice from people.....too bad people couldn't record their dreams then maybe people would believe it more.

i believe that there are people how can gain access to another level of existance. it would be an interesting ability to have yet depressing and annoying because you can see them, hear them , get to know the person they were...yet know that they are beyond a reach of normalcy

I doubt even if you could record your dreams..that anyone would accept it anymore than they do now. If it's in your head..there's a chance you made it up. The fact is, most scientists consider dreams to be either symbolic or loosely connected by desires and concentration. It's not uncommon to dream about those whom you've lost recently..thats part of the grieving process. Dreams always become much more vivid in times of crisis or pain.

that's right. Your dreams don't prove anything. They are left up to interpretation, simply. And hey- if it makes us ride this crazy train called life a little easier intrepreting things the way we like, rock on ;)

Reverse the meanings: We are Dead, they are Alive.
We are confused, they see things very clearly.

But it true that most of the time, our dreams are just ours. But in between the dreams, in an Alpha State, that's where somethings really cool starts to happen.

I believe, even with my religious beliefs, that some people can communicate with the dead. But I think what is going on with you is they are only coming to you b/c they were loved ones and must know how upset you might be and want to make sure you live instead of mourn.

i strongly believe that those who we care about comuncate with us after they pass.

It take great belief to communicate with the dead..it happens often actually though in very small forms that most do not even notice.

Most the times it happens after something very tradgic and they communicate with you almost in a way to let you know that they are okay and that your life can go on and not to grieve so much...what has happened is excatly that. it has happened and it is time for you to move on and let things go

well one way to be sure about them is to try evp in a hounted house or aplace with a lot of activity, have an IC recorder and speak to them then go to the computer and listen for voices.

yes i strongly believe so but i reccomend staying away from seances... they are very unpredictable and dangerous

I'm still studying about aspects in the brain, sleep, and dreams, so I cant say for sure but...

I most deffinately believe that it could be real!

But then again, I'm not sure... It could just be an aspect in your brain, thats trying to calm itself down after their deaths.. through dream, trying to comfort itself... A psychological deal...
Or, it could completely be that they were actually trying to talk to you to make you feel better!

But I do -strongly- believe that you can talk to the dead and such.. maybe you should work on your spirituallity and try to contact them again? If it works, I have no doubt that in that dream was actually them talking to you! :)

I do believe in the presence of the dead. I have been in situations where there are strange cold places in apartments that I lived in or some rooms have a weird feeling when you enter. You always wonder if someone died there or there was some kind of tragedy.

I believe in communicating with the dead, beacuse I do quite frequently, though I shut myself off, after having a freind come to me after she died, so I stopped communicating with them until I learnt to open myself to them again..

I have heard, that we are all capable of communicating with the dead, it just depends on whether we are prepared to receive..

I'm a strong believer in mind over matter. If you're mind wants something bad enough, it will make it happen. When a loved one dies, it leaves a void. In order to cope, everyone has their own mechanisms. For you, it seems that finding that loved one(s) in your dream(s) if your coping mechanism. In the end, I agree with mrd, no one else's opinion really matters as long as it meant something to you and helped you.

I do believe that it is quit possible...I have had the same experience after a loved one has died....so yes I do think that it is quit possible.

The dead will try to communicate with you. These are the ones who are not ready to pass over. They feel their business is not finished or have experienced some trauma which leaves them in a confused state. They have acts that need to be finished or questions that need answered. The living are usually their only outreach. Try not to call them, if you can't help their cause.

I'm agnostic, a "religious skeptic" you might say. And having no real experiences with the afterlife, I can't say for certain if there even is one. I will say that I know enough to believe that anything is possible, though.

i have a friend who can channel people who have passed on through his body. he becomes dazed and then speaks with a completely different voice. its quite scary but very powerful.

I think the answer to this subject will be different for different people and for different reasons. 1st off I do think we communicate with those that have moved on. Whether it's only a figment of our imagination, thru dreams or dream interpretations or thru deeds.Figment of our imagination, sometimes we believe we "saw' that person because we "needed to". Deeds, sometimes we need to get thru a difficult point in life and the person helps you thru it. And of course your dreams. when you have achieved a higher state of being. But I do believe that it's because of us that we make manifest those that we loved. Soemtimes it's just for closure on our parts or theirs.

Well, psychologically, most people would say that such dreams are just your way of coping with the death of someone close to you; whic is sometimes the case. But I, who have had my own experiencew with ghosts, believe that communication with the preternatural is possible. I think being able to communicate with ghosts is hereditart though, because it runs in my family. You may want to ask your parents if they've had any similar experiences.

I in fact have contact with the dead. I dont do it willingly, It just happens. I have dreams, I see spirits , I feel their energies, not all of them are evil, not even most, half of them are and half of them are wonderful spirits. There is a balance to everything and that includes good and evil spirits. some are here becuase they lost their way, or because they have no idea they are in fact dead, some just want to get in touch with their relatives. there are quite a few though that just want some peace and they dont have the physical means of aquiring that peace. There are evil ones such as polterguists and even then not all of them are evil. some just want to get your attention...

There is no stupid questions, if you are serious in asking. And I would say maybe, remeber the board can pick up anything, not just the dead. And as for the original question of this thread, yep. My sister can talk to them all the time. And I deal with Higher Beings, so...yes again. You can.

I was never able to have an experience of my own.... I can only deal with those that are alive and what they are thinking and feeling.....

Its not really hard. Just need to learn to place your own ego on your shoulders and tell it to watch but don't talk. This way, the messages can come in clearly. Not everyone wants to hears voices in their head. Its a choice. As for listening to the Higher beings, thats harder. I tell people its like touching a spider's web without doing damage to the web itself. Its a very quite voice to hear.

all that possibly see them are most people who are more sensetive,
this sensetiveness is called clarvojance (still dont know how to spell it),
it is what mediums have, but mediums have the intensive version (more of it then others).

I believe that is possible to communicate with the dead... even with the undead or the unborn (i`m talking about demons or angels)...the hard part is to distinguish between fake and reality, between imagination and the hard facts...

Yes i do believe it is possible to communicate with the dead, after my grandmother died i had experiences similar to yours, i even had the sensation of someone stroking my hair which is what my grandmother used to do when i was a child. I found it very comforting. Unfortunately due to the large amount of fakes that are around the real psychics/mediums dont gain the respect they deserve

Yes, I too believe you can communicate with the non living. My father passed on two years ago and there are times when I sense him. And he still has the ability to comfort me, much in the same way he did when he was living.

Well with more thought on the matter I have come to the conclusion that I think it was them in fact trying to get to me and let me know they were alright....the dream was too realistic....it was like she was really holding onto my hand the touch...the smell was so realistic.....I have come to peace within me that it was them and I know there are many fakes out there but I know what I saw and I know what I felt and thats all that matters.

I think you have to be open to the possibility, but yes, I believe the dead can speak to the living. My best friend died almost 6 years ago, and although she's never spoken directly to me, I do feel her prescence and know she is with me.

I think that it is very possilble for some to communicate with the dead but the gift surfaces randomly making it very difficult to prove it to be true or false for the record.

I believe it is very possible for the dead to communicate with the living. After all the soul doesn't die with the body. They are two completely seperate beings in themselves. No I don't beleive the dead, because the only paranormal enconter I had was with demons, as for my dreams I do have dreams that come true lots of time and its not the dead that send them to me.

I believe the dead do try and contact the living. There are so many ppl with such strong gifts to be able to communicate. I don't believe they are as profound as the so called psychics..but I do believe that it is possible.

My question is, how much of the communication is true versus how much of it is generated by our own brain who wants to communicate? Imagine your dreams who are so far away from reality that sometimes you wonder how your brain could come up with something like that... So, what if you really, really want something, how can you tell if it is real or just a projection of what you want it to be?

Personally yes I do think that it is possible to communicate with the dead. And most likely you were. But who knows it could have been your mind trying to help you through the time that you are going through. It's a 50/50 chance.

I do believe it is possible, but it seems like only a few people I know can do it.. When my best friend died.. I saw him in several of my dreams.. one showing me what I was doing wrong and saving me from the mistakes and the other was him and I hanging out reminding me of the good times....... To this day I carry them close...

Me personally, I just don;t have that kind of sensitivity. I'm afraid I wasn't blessed (or cursed) with anything remotely supernatural. Always said it'd be cool to play a round of poker with a ghost, but then I suspect he'd cheat so nevermind... hehe

personally i beleive that if a phone rings in a dream that someone from the other side is trying to contact/inform the dreamer.

I believe that it could happen but from what source is it coming from really? Are we talking to evilness or pureness.... death is not always as it seems...

yes of course it is possible,most times our subconsious mind is telling us what to do,in ur dreams.i have them kind of dreams often,do not ignore them,they can be very helpful,my brother was murdered and told me who did it in a dream,so yes i believe it is possible.i don't believe it matters what your beliefs are,i have a friend who is a devote catholic,she has these kind of dreams all the time,the dead speak to her,thru her dreams,then she has visions of the past,she see it as if she was really there,it is amazing,so yea the dead communicate in many different ways,don't be afraid of it,accept it and move on!!!

In my heart I truly believe that everyone has the capability of communicating with the deceased. It is just that some people do not know or want to know how to.
It is just my view of this, and I very much enjoy learning of others experiences and beliefs on the subject....

I see things. All around me. The living and the dead. Shadows in the darkness. I've seen them. In hospitals and in my own room. The dead try to come to me for help but I don't know what to do and now they are getting inpatient with me. Giving me nightmares of death, destruction and chaos. I see things that have been and that are to come. This world is a medium between two worlds of the afterlife. No one is truley sure what is beyond the point our minds stop but it has to be better then this one.

ive learned (at least for me) that i can communicate with the dead, but only if i believe in them. if i get tweaked out by what i see/hear/feel i tell myself its not real and it goes away, usually. there are most deffinately spirits among us... alot of times my things go missing, and after searching for a long time, i feel the urge to check a place i have already been through and its there. unfortunately most of the time i have to beg for the spirits to give whatever they took back to me. i know im not crazy, i have witnesses whove also looked in the same spots that whatever i lost turned up. maybe your dreams are real maybe not, i couldnt tell you, but i know that spirits/ghosts or whatever you want to call them exist. so it is possible that your loved ones whove died are letting you know that everything is ok.

I've always experienced things before they would happen. Just feelings, or thoughts. Talking to people would reveal that something has happened similar to whatever I've been thinking about.

Same with dreams. I'll have dreams that will be similar to things that will happen in the future. Like the other night, I had a dream that my boss asked me how many cups I wanted. I didnt' know what he meant and he said that he needed to know how many I was getting. The next day at work, a box of styrafoam cups was sitting by the door. I've only worked at this job for a week, it's nothing that I would be accustomed to. I work in an autoshop, so cups wouldn't be something normal.

This seems to have nothing to do with the dead in my opinion.
