I've been researching vampire clans lately, particularily from Vampire: The Masquerade, and I started geting curious about who was in what clan. So, for those of you who know, which Vampire: The Masquerade Clan do you belong to?
ummm...I am better with true false or multiple choice LOL I dont know
Vampire the masquerade is just a game it does not actually apply to real vampires though some characteristics some real vampires have may seem like the clans mentioned in the games you dont have the special powers or restrictions of VtM
it is just a game.. a rather boring one at that, I played it for about six months tops...
I'm aware of this...*lol*...this post is mostly for fun...I just want to about all of the Clans, even the imaginary ones...right now I'm focusing on the imaginary ones so I can compare what I know of them to the factual Clans when I research them.
Though i am a vamp, i am not an RPG vampire. So i have no interest in familiarizing myself with these made-up clans. Though they are pretty fascinating.
I was discussing it with Emileigh though (she does the song in the Club, Isolated. She is Chiasm) and she and i both agreed that Ventrue would be the best, as we have high aspirations of wealth, her in the material case, me in the metaphorical.
yeah its a game...a fun one..chess come to life in a way; My best decks are Giovanni/Ventrue combo's...I have both the alpha and beta sets of the game when it was called Jihad so I can actually spring some pretty nasty old school political tricks! *yay*
Oh, and you should note gothgoddess, Elder Daniel, Master of House Lunazure is an expert in the game; so if he doesn't see the thread, you might take up further inquiry with him.
It's just an RPG game but most get impressed too much by it and belive it's real.
more less into rpg then i dont know not to sure of what your asking.
Yea, id believe it was real too, if I wernt sitting there for three minutes everytime I walk through a door waiting for the game to load.
I bought the game, but haven't had much time to play it. The several times I answered the questions to pick my clan it came up Tremere...
So in the spirit of the game I belong to:
TREMERE CLAN

It is just a game of course. It is absolutely a neat one too.
Keep in mind- hundreds upon hundreds of these VR profiles do not belong to proclaimed 'real' vampires. Many of us (yes I include myself) are here for the love of vampire fiction. There's nothing wrong with having a creative mind, enjoying special effects, and stepping into a world of fantasy to escape this one at times. I do not blur the lines of fact and fiction.
I am, a Toreador :)
I'm trying to deside either Tremere or Treador(yes I know I misspelled it but i'm typeing kinda fast) Probly Tremere though
I'd probably be a Toreador, though it isn't what I'd choose to play if I still played.
Though I don't play RPGs, Clan Ventrue seems most suitable for moi ;)
As far as the game....
...Ventrue...
and have had fun with the Ravnos clan as well
I've always played a Malkavian when I play that. But, as has been said, it's just a game.
to tell the honest truth, i've never played the game, but i've heard some stuff about it
I seem to recognise Ravnos Charateristcs mostly. (keeping with the question)
like nosferatu the underdog who keeps tab on everything:) apperences are afterall not all hehe
i have thought about playing the game but never have...but since looking at this thread it could be interesting to try.
I have been playing the game for five years, and one of my friends used to game with mark reinhagen when the thing came out. You want to know about the 13 main clans? the bloodlines? etc..
Heres a list of what i can remember off the top of my head:
Assamite
Bali
Brujah
Child of Illius
Children Of Osirus
Gangrel
Giovanni
Malkavian
Lasombara
Ravenos
Salubri
Setite
Serpents of the Light
Toreador
Tremere
Ventrue
Personally I play a tremere best, but toreador, setites, bali, ventrue, gangrel are all fun.
there are many games which involve Vampire the masquerade.
You have the RPG
You have the card game
You have the computer game 'Bloodlines'
All come down from the imagination of White Wolf
I find it a neatly constructed imaginary world.
And I'm a Toreador.
But I like Settites also.
And of course Lasombra anti-tribu. Really neat.
Ventrue. The puppets whose strings the Toreador pull behind the scenes.
*blinks eyelashes*
as long as im havin fun and get what i want anyone can pull the strings im used to being a puppet
Well....I had a Brujah once....but as for me being in on of the clans none.
Gangrel. I am very in touch with my inner "beast"...even though it just merely a docile cat. lol
I like both Ventrue....because of the more aristocratic style....but then again I like the Nosferatu just cuz they are the scariest looking....lol
I would love to play the game, and plan on starting to soon. I have taken various quizzes in order to place me, and I've scored as Toreador, Malkavian, and Tremere. Of all of these, I beleive that I relate most closely to Toreador. What can I say? I'm a bit of a hedonist!
Vampire Rave, and most that are here are not rp'ers, nor are we fictional Vampires, like that in the books. That is a game. A good majority of us here are for real. V:tm is a role play game.
you have to be very careful with the real house and "clans" of vampires many are cults trying to suck anyone in and can be a danger.
See, it is a game, but unlike so many out there it is very acurate, it's just a matter of differnetiating wqhat's real from exageration. As for my clan, Nosferatu.
I am a Mental Vampire of the Order of Infinite Thought, of the Clan of True Origin. I know that it has nothing to do with V:TM, but it is what I am.
Kindred of clan Toreador. I love vampire:the masquerade computer game, but i can't paly it nomore because me computer is evil!=(
I've never played the game (although it sounds fun).
There are various online quizzes that you can take to see where you fit in, tho'....
I have played the game for ten years and I most closely resemble a Gangrel
i have played and studyed the game and books that followed and i find that i would fit in the most with the clan Ventrue. For i am in it for the power.
Note of warning, if you play a malk and play it well, and you yourself can relate to every aspect of your character you maybe a little malk and cookies yourself.....question your own sanity if you play a malk too good...
"Ventrue have their use in the forefront of things this is true. But when it comes time for the forces of this world to fight it will be the tremere who will sway it one way or another" George, 6th gen Tremere to the Ventrue Justicar (after Kemenentyri's little farce)
I have been playing V:TM for about 8 years. I absolutely love the game! I always end up playing a Toreador! I think because that is the clan that is the most opposite of my true self. In that respect it is true Role-play.
Used to play it all the time - haven't played in ages though - would have to pull back out the rule book to see what I'd most identify with...
i have this game but have yet to install it. but i will get around to it one of these days.
never heard of it to be honest no time n my life to do anything im a model
V:TM is just a game but some have really learned or chosen to identify with the clans and I see little harm in it. It's a way of describing oneself. I've seen those that play and those that didn't chose a clan. I remember the game though it seems over a decade ago for me and even now I find that it's interesting to see the clans that people have chosen much like one would chose a totem or power animal. It's an identifying characteristic. I can't give anyone grief for wanting to identify with something real or unreal.
Although Vampire: The Masquerade looks lke quite an interesting and enjoyable game to play, I wouldn't really consider myself part of any of their clans because they do not apply to real vampires. But if I were to take a guess I would say I'm part of the Tremere clan.
They may not apply to real vampires but the classifications're based more on interest and personality than anything vampire related...Toreadors are the insane artists, Brujahs are the punks and thugs, Gangrels are the wanderers, Ventrues are the high society, Tremere were the magicians turned vampires, and Nosferatu's were the mishapen but powerful and wise philosopher 'monsters' ...I know there were a slew more added but you get the idea.
ok now it seems to me that this stupid ass game is getting to much cred i mean hell people make it out to be the next d&d for christ sake ...its a game i just hope noone takes it as seious as those kids did in the 80s in newyork fighting in the sewres and reenacting there game ...some ofe them were killed by accident...
MrEcks - Yes stupid game. Childish. No redeeming social value. However, the only people that become so obsessed with a game as to kill people are very weak minded fools who would do something that stupid anyway...one can only hope that such 'evolutionary rejects' will take themselves out of the chain a la Darwin award style before they can off themselves and have their parents blame Judas Priest or some game.
Though vtm clans and media posed vampires are illegit I do offer a site for you to visit that does explain abit about real life vampires.
http://users.net1plus.com/vyrdolak/livevamps.htm
Wikipedia has a pretty good description of the game clans and their 'origins'. As "illigitimate" as they may be, it's still an interesting process to see how people identify with this one or that.
No offense to anyone...But something seems to have gotten lost in the thread of this discussion.
Yes it is a game. stupid or otherwise(depending on your opinion) it is only game, just like dungeon and dragons. and other rpgs. there are those who take games to seriously not because the game itself is so enticing, but because the reality that they live in is so unacceptable. this a major personality flaw usually stemming from any number of psychological disorders.
I think that it is wrong to put down anything that you have not tried or researched. I mean, Isn't bad enough that people have to deal with that crap everyday?
The focus of this thread I thought was to find out which clan of vampire from the masquerade would you choose to be/relate to. To turn it into some philosophical debate about real vampires or make-believe vampires is an injustice to the poor soul who was trying to gauge something for themselves.
Not to say it wouldn't be a fascinating discussion, but, she is asking a question about game! Can we leave it at that?
Sorry if anyone is offended by my post....
Here, a little (opinionated) description of the clans.
Assamite - Psycho Ninja Bruce Lee shit.
Bali - Deamon lovin' fools
Brujah - Too Cool For School. Leather Jackets with spikes and band patches.
Child of Illius
Children Of Osirus - Walk like an Egyptian!
Gangrel - Butt Sniffers
Giovanni - "Youse is 'bout to get sum ceemint shoes."
Malkavian - "No your crazy! I know you are but what am I? I know you are but what am I? I know you are...."
Lasombara - The Shadow Knows!
Ravenos - Carnies, Circus Folk. Small hands, smell like cabbage.
Salubri - "No, thats not a third eye, it's a uh.. birthmark. No it didn't blink, it does that when I wrinkle my forehead. Really. Dammit. *STAB*"
Setite - "Snakey Snakey, slither on the floor, you be nice to Morfin, else Set will screw you like the rest of us."
Serpents of the Light
Toreador - "Oh, Niaomi that dress is so you!"
Ventrue - Longs Sticks. The sticks up their butts that is.
Tremere - Twinkle Sticks. Their sticks sparkle with magic. Still up their butts though.
There ya go, just a rough idea.
I have only one way to answer this post.....
Follow that ...should lead you to your answers...it is a bit of a read. Found that while looking for the game, after reading about it in this POST lol. ok Laters.
I remember though that there was another clan that was overlooked. It always appealed to me as the one that those who don't play well with others fell into..."Caitiff"
Oh and as a nod to Tinius' definitions:
Caitiff - "Daddy wasn't there."
im sorry but tinius that was freakn funny and thnk you fro the descritpion ...i think itll help the thread move along more organized ..."i dont care who you r that was funny ' ...lol
I'm sort of what happens when a Toreador and Malkavian smash into each other really really really really really really really really really really really hard.... and only one creature is left.
Love the game very fun if you have a active imagination and a good storyteller. I am from clan Gangrel.
Vtm/Vampire the Masquerade is a game. IF you are asking if we here are in a clan, you need to seriously look at yourself and evaluate things.
great game, not too sure what clan i'd belong to.probably malkavian
So... on a website with a whole bunch of people... some way too old for it... pretending to be vampires. It's wrong for someone to have a little imagination and play the part of their clan?
It is just a game and I myself would not put much into it, I find it alittle boring so no longer play I need more stimulation then it has to offer just my opinon~~ :)
i like this game, i find myself most close to either the brujah or malkavian clan, they are the most amusing to play :)
It is a game and meant to bring fun into peoples live. It is not to be taken dead seriously. But what is wrong with playing out a character from one of these clans. As long as you know the difference between fiction and reality
Exactly my point Enrique...
It would seem that even though Masquerade is just a game, it's very presence upsets some 'real vampires' who think that it besmerches the good name of vampiredom or creates a false impression of vampires (please see the recently deceased imagesinwords "what's wrong with fiction" thread). As long as one can acknowledge that this is a game and that the idea of identifying a 'clan' is for fun and not reality, then I don't think the reactions need to be too serious against it and I'm pretty sure we'll all get through this ok ;)
I think If I had to choose a clan I'd have t be one of those poor shumcks that are clanless...or thin-blooded.
The resonbehind this is simple..I'd reather make my own waves then to have to ride someone elses...That and personaly...I like the story of how a thin blooded mother will give birth to the last Daughter of Eve..hehehehe...
Dark Greeting's, It's just a game it doesn't apply to real Vamps.being Roma I guess Ravonos. But I am Vampieal it doesn't apply to me at all.I am a day Walker i was born not made.So it is a fun Question.
Dark Blessing's,Bite's and Kiss's, KA
A 1/2 breed
ok folks, for the most part I think people got it but for the rest of us, let us not be sticks in the mud. If we can't have fun with vampirism then no one can. I realize that V:tM is a game so did the one asking the question, I realize it is based on fiction.. so did the one asking the question. It was all in good fun and should have been treated as such. I don't actually think I am toreador, in reality I just don't have the super ego to pull it off for long but in rpg I am wonderful at it. As far as that is concerned before Bloodlines came out there was Redemption for the computer. Now, let's all take a deep breath and allow people to get their fun where they can.
i myself am not familiar with the game and i have no idea as to what clan i would belong too...but as soon as i figure it out i will be sure to let everyone know...
VampLastat
malkavian---the nutty fuck who can drive you insane with a glance quite intelligent but also speak in nonsensical limmericks that dont rhyme
I think it is very important for a person to find out their 'clan' just because they do say a lot about your personality. What do you prefer?
-The tough biker 'gonna knuck some fuckah out'
-art, beauty, poetry
-politics, power trips, money
-nutjob, crazy wacko, never know what you're gonna do next
-sneaky, off to the side, observer, spy
-animalistic hunter, loner
-dark and mysterious, magician, cliche goth
and more.
These clans, and the rest, all show extreme views of different personality types. It's fun to find out 'where exactly would i be, if i had to be just one'. Or maybe to find out which several clans appeal to you most, and see those traits in your own personality.
Agreed - I mean it's a bit of a pigeon hole but to look at extremes (as in the extreme archetypes embodied in each clan) is still a form of insight into each others 'driving force' or motivators.
I feel that I'm a Malkavian at heart, but all the quizes say that I'm a Nosferatu.
ahh i have an obsesion with masks i wish the sam ? belonged to me but i musty wait my turn bows head.
Malkavian can come at 'crosses' with other clans quite often. You could be a Malkavian who thinks he's a Nosferatu.
I'm a Malkavian who thinks he's a Toreador.
So you're a madman who thinks he's an artist?
"The only difference between myself and a madman is that I am not mad."
- Salvador Dali
I'm a madman prostiute who thinks he's an artist who can write poetry and sing.
Well, Prostitute. There's no such thing as a.... whatever I just said. Not that I know of.
