It is proven that all things evolve. How do you think the Vampire will evolve over the ages?
the vampire will evolve into a more varied spicies like humans have
Well the vampire i believe that vampires evolved from homo sapians and the blood sucks will harvest more energy from the blood and more power from it become more efficent and will be more immune to sickness while the psi vampire will be more contorling of his/her energy stealing and will be able to do it longer distances which is it is pretty damn far right now
I dunno even how vampire girls get created, no womanwants mybaby and even vampire girls who like vampires can't deal with us, so where the hell are they pumping out all these vamps from if they just would rather kill me than submit to me?
I don't know how vamps can evolve when we get ignored because they think we are dead, and yet we aren't dead really. I mean I know I have crossed some line to become what I have, but I know where I am along the scheme of things, I see failed experiements all over the place, so... but now I think the human genome is near extinction, and there is not alot of reserve to bring back the vampire with new blood from an incredible woman. It seems the incredible women are all demons. Life happens to the beautiful, and when that happens, you stop living, because when you find out about life, then you are possessed with an alternative concept of this planet which is different from the idea you had bfore you was tampered with
so I don't think vampires are going to do anymore eveolving, maybe de-evolving at this point, the driving force of the usefulness of vampires into the human gene pool is no longer neccessary to make us more pasionate, more lustful, hedonism rules the planet now, they are all vampires now whether they know it or not yet.
Is anyone real anywhere?
I believe Vampires will evolve into many, many more species of Vampire...
I agree with Enigma -- it depends on your definition of vampire. I would dare say it also depends on your definition of evolve. Are you referring to a merely physical evolution or to a mental/emotional/spiritual evolution as well?
I think vampires will "evolve" along the same lines as humans. Humans now live longer and are larger physically than even 100 years ago. As for the mental/emotional/spiritual evolution of humans, I think there is nothing new under the sun, except perhaps increased scientific knowledge. And if one studies the ancient Roman physician Galen, one has to wonder if scientific knowledge has increased all that much after all. There have always been cultures that were open to new ideas and tolerant of those who were different, and other cultures who were not. I do not think vampires to be much different than mere humans in this regard.
That's my two cents, for what it's worth.
I dunno, I mean I am an italophile, I love Italians, and I am sure Galen was a great doctor for 50 bc or whatever, but, hell, if I took a time travel trip to pre WWII with what I have in my head there would be 25 billion people on the planet by now because less and less people would have died. The 20th century was the greatest leap in innovation upon invention ever, and we are still perfecting the gizmos we have create, and this is only in a time span of one century. The egyptians however had incredible advances, and the far east has it's own ancient customs of medicine, and the Middle East even has doctors and medical schools which contrast Western medicinal knowledge, so.... we can take all that is known from these forces of knowledge and continue to build incredible fortresses of wisdom in healing. The only problem is that there is much in life that isn't accounted for by the medical community, like the existence of vampire states. I am sure there are very many other afflictions which exist but which are ignored that also have genetic consequences of evo or devolution, so all beings on this planet will evolve until we get to the point where we will diverge as a species.
Think about it, infertility has always been around, we keep taking fertility drugs to conceive, and if we keep doing that then there will be in the future the only way to conceive is to take the fertility drugs for all.
The speciation of humanity has diverged to a point where some of us are no longer a part of the human race. The definition of a species is that we can combine egg and sperm and conceive chilren from that. The fact that so manmy people don't have the ability to have children and have lost their fertility with their love proves we have already begun to evolve into multi species of humanity. Whether a woman I find can bring my seed back from the dead, and my offspring can be saved to the point where they can rejoin the human race is something else.
The future of the evolution of vampires I am sure I have already postulated above. I have nothing new to add unless someone else addresses or finds fault with something that I have stated.
well i do also agree with enigma ...vampires have evloved into diffrent slots on the chain and if you think about it back in the day they only kept some kind of record of the blood drinking kind and know we have the psyc kind also i personally wiould fall into the pscyc catagory so i think we will evlove more as time will come...
ok ok well think of this vamp inthe sun. it is natural law as the food supply evolves those that consume it alter as well. who knows over thousands of years of human evolution, blood may no longer be a factor in our genetic makup or be altered ...this would force the hand of the vampire to alter feeding habits thus ....changing the vampire itself
I believe vampires will evolve more and more. we already have especially with our knowledge. as we get older we receive more info and i believe that helps with the evolving process. the more knowledge we have the more powerful we can make ourselves with different techniques. it is a growing process.
I feel, as unfortunate as it is that vampires will eventually evolve comepltely out of sight.
As people become more technologically minded, we will simply stop believing in what cannot be "proven" through science and anything whimsical and unknown will simply...fade away...
well alot of the reason why we don't fit into those midaeval suits of armour is because of nutrition not genetics, as we are who we were, yet of course, women choosing taller men would also lead to the development of height. Taller people don't live as long and are killed in battle more, so there are antagonistic forces keeping in check which enriched foods battles to keep the gene pool strong.
The thing that I think about this and evolution, mind you this is my idea, is I came across some new info that the changes to my brain from the coma vampire cure, the extra layer of brain that I have, the extra tissue that is created or evolved has DNA that can be passed on. Yeah I know I am a mutant large brained creature from what I eat, and if my nutriment has lead to brain tissue that can be passed on, because for every cell that is created there is DNA in it, then the long bones of the leg which are the true contributors to height in humans, all the osteocytes that produce more bone have DNA too, so the baby that comes from them will be taller just because of nutrition. To answer the Pharoahs question.
But Pharoah I made a response to the tropical stonehenge topic which includes some egyptology...
plain transending , reality transending being of pure energy that can can tap into the co consciousness and take it to the next level
the mind is a terrible thing
she broke my he art
she art to fix it heart that is better
something happens with heartbreak that might be the driving force of one of the more underground aspects to evolution. I think brain chemistry can be passed down, good brains or bad brains, or a brain that has been hopped up on either good love or bad love
when these forces cause us to have greater mind powers, obviously brain barriers have been broken, newer interfaces created, the chemicals at the doors of these portals to higher brain function forever change.
last night I haad a premonatory dream that I shouldn't have had because I thought she wasn't ever going to take me back. Then I called her up told her the dream and she decided ot give me her love
the next night her voice was the strongest out of all the voices I hear in my dreams, I would breathe and I could her her Say "DAVID" for every breathe out
the power of love has made me even more psychedelic than tequila or some mushroom ever could
my soul has evolved and I think these powers of the brain can be passed on and be the next part of the evolution of the vampire in you
love is the true psychedelic
ok, you may want to rip my head off but hey this is just what is goin trough my head right now....
Wouldn't vampires evolve at the same rate or even slower then humans due to them being ( im going with the text book vamps here...) dead yet still alive wouldnt their bodies need longer and also take longer to evolve, so they would more likely see us change faster then we would see them? and then if you really wanna get into some mean stuff, since they are dead wouldnt their bodies just stay the same as when they died and not evolve?
A Vampire is a Vampire, how can they evolve, they are dead and drink blood, there is no wear to go if you look at it in a very black and white hollywood style view, but as from the living vampires to a certain degree the same can be said, you may know all the folk lore, history and stories and you may drink blood or be a psi, what else can you do or be, be realistic, before anyone starts stamping there feet this is an opinion, to witch i am entitled, not fact or saying you have to agree!!!
the different vamps will grow in power and there will be strugles on all sides
Just as in any species or race, variations ocurr. If anything, Vamps, Psy Vamps, etc. will gain more stregnth, stamina and endurance; and ability to obtain energy in different and/or more forms.
Dark Greeting's,I love this post.I feel Vampire's have evolved,The Psy. are getting stronger and don't have to drain a person dry and even take from the earth, and some Vamp's I know only take what they need and have to feed less often, some can even go out in the sun.and with all the different species/kind's and mix's, we have evolved.Just like human's .We suffered the bottleneck that split the Astripithine's got caught in over 50 million yr's ago.
That takes care of physical. Now mental/spiritual Not sure. That's just my 2cent's :)
Dark Greeting's,

ok I have to say this one good thread two look I know I am not dead nor are Other true Vampyres / Vampires.
for those who think we are you really need to read more on true life vampyres/ vampires.
I personally feel that there is only one ultimate state for any of the variations of vampyrism that we currently experience, which is one of a deliberated and unified social consciouness.
The further we explore into the darkness of our esotericism, the more we learn how to 'commune' with one another and subsequently, better understand ourselves and each other.
But this is an insular process, driving us to find common ground and purpose, seeking out those minds which are able to comfort and aid us.
The end result of this can only enevitably be a survival of the fittest, whereby states or ideals of vampirism which do not conform to a strict regimen will be ostracised and shied away from, leaving only a semi-'pure' concept, much like racial superiority complexes.
No-one really wants to be left to fend for themselves- most wish for companionship to share their burden.
And if the state is really genetic, surely there can only be a limited number of variations which will be accepted and have the opportunity to propogate. Perhaps this is why some of the more outlandish claims have been disassociated with the community.
There seems to be a big push for politcal correctness in a standardised model of 'real' vampyrism. But this is folly, as it smacks of fascism. We, as we all are aware, have the freedom to choose our beleifs. And if those beleifs fail to match those of our peers, does it devalue them?
I think not.
For me, it seems that people will continue to try and define their own version of a vampyre, until they come across a stronger opinion which they submit to. And as these ideas expand their subscribers, so too will it reduce the scope for free-thinking personal development.
I'm rambling a bit, so I'll stop there.
Anyone care to disagree?
this is merely an opinion and perhaps a little farfetched but maybe in time they will become adapt to light or maybe won't need to rely on blood so much
i agree w/ most of you!
lol
i also think that we shal "evolve" more over time, just by adapting more to the environment!
honestly i think at the rate we are going we will grow closer to the human race, if we can make it tho we can become our own and grow away from what i think the inevitable is
lol
yea
i have heard that a long time ago vampyres really did have wings or w/e...im sure they probly did have greater power tehn than now...lol
but, then they were killed...almost extinction...but we are rising again!
so hopefuly we wont come to an end.
are we talking real vamp's or the vamp's of movies.... I really don't think the real thing has evolved all that much....
Dark Greeting's,Again everyone has made valid points,Afew I think take it as a joke. It really isn't.Reality is precieved differently by everyone, who is to say which one is right.

I suppose that it a vampire will evolve in much the same way as every other species, via finding new ways to feed and mating with slightly different creatures, in our case dragons, fey, humans, vampiells, etc. Of course we may also evolve by what we feed from, who knows?
I believe we have already evolved, it is just a theory that perhaps way back when we had some of the attributes of the mythological or legendary vampires, again this is just speculation, whether we evolve for the better or worst remains to be seen, I for one hope it is for the better.
The vampire has evolved from a thing without personality, to a ghost, to a killer - a psycho, to a fetish or casual plaything, to a energy manipulator, to a religion or spiritual species. I believe the next step in it's life would be that of an accepted mainstream religion but that would probably remove the attraction of it to many.
Well I have two trains of thought on this one. The 1st one is this if evolution is the grown of living things and vampires are the "undead" they will not evolve more than they are already. However if the vampire is of the "live" quality that so much of us enjoy, then evolution will take place as humans evolve.
If the question is what type of "powers"? Then probably the power of observation or intuition will probably be most evolved.
As we are human the evolution of the Vampire with surely follow the evolution of the human race. And the possiblities are endless. To what plain of existance would be the question, at least for me. Perhaps one day, and not at the death of ourselves, but a day in the future we will all beable to leave our "mortal coils" and travel that way. Who knows. But, with each new discovery of energy...we surely will be there to soak it up.
vampires have evolved from people telling stories. and with each tail told the story changes a little every time, as with all stories.
i dont think there is much more to evolve, if you take a typical vampire, ok starting with a hollywood one, they are dead, drink bood, and can kill or turn a victim...there isent really anywhere to go? As for humans that think they are vampires, well again already breaking the mould so where else is there to go?
grr, i think my last post on this subject was deleted!
and it was very good!
ok, here it is again...
what if vampyres and other paranormal creatures evolved from other ancient creatures instead of monkeys (or w/e scientists say that humans evolved from...lol)
but, what if...its always what if...
if we evolved from somehting other than monkeys...apes...w/e...
maybe some other creature?
Perhaps they have not evlolved as we might think. Perhaps they where created as where you and I.
oh
youare talking about the Christian creation myth...lol
at first i didnt know what you were talking about...
but i think thats what you are meaning...right?
well, im not Christian anymore...but i have a largly open mind, and that is a possibility...
although, i still believe more in the evolution thing...lol
As vampires evolve they will be able to tolerate sunlight and not need as much food/energy.
I would haft to mostly agree with bloodysparklesod, even if we evolve into more races or not we will get stronger faster and then thier will be more of us.
Perhaps during the evolutionary phases the vampiric traits will be washed out?
Stereotypically speaking here, not intended to enflame anyone. East asians were generally of smaller stature, whether it was diet or genetic they were always a little bit smaller. Now after many thousand years they are much taller than before? Evolution has a way of changing things of making them different.
Also the mixing of the blood. If there were many "true bloods" left out there I beileve their blood would get so diluted that many of the traits of the Vampire would get washed out.
I think that's how evolution will affect the Vampires.
Now, see, Im not sure if vampyres actually exist or not, I am, shall we say, an observer of opinion, trying to make my own mind up.
Ands I have to say, some people are probably bandwagon jumpers, in love with a romantic notion they have picked up on in fiction. Yes, there are things that cannot be explained by science, but we need to keep a certain sense of realism about it, before everyone just agrees to fit in...
And some of you have only given half-thought out responses really, you need tyo think these things out more, as this seems to be a serious question which is not done justice by some of your answers.
Sorry, these are my opinions. If vampyres do exist, as you say, then certainly they will evolve, as all things do.
But I need to be more convinced than, Im sorry to say this, a bunch of people on a forum believing they are vampires.
(BTW, I still respect your opinions).
Orobas,
Strong words against what you do not believe in this thread, but what of the responses which you can accept as possibility, do you have an opinion of those?
Well, having never encountered a real vampire, I cannot even begin to postulate on their evolutionary tracts.
However, the going trend in those who have unsubstantiated claims(NOT SAYING you are lying, just that the Monk has no proof, and I love you all dearly, but I am only one persons fool.), seems to be a more less and less physical extraction of the required forms of energy from the associated prey, and a more extroverted attitude towards themselves, whith a STRONG trend towards more hidden methods of feeding.
These are all things I would encourage, because where there are predators, there are those who hunt them. And more subtle methods of extraction make for a longer general lifespan.
i think that when vamps evolve they become stronger and faster
i belive that vampires will get stronger more cunning smarter more efficent blood suckers dependending on environment their bodys may change.. say wings for high enviroment. or webing for and water environment
i think that vampires would evolve greatly over time some may faster then others it depends on the one's who seem 2 want 2 change like daywalkers just dance in the light for a lil bit at a time and sooner or later u should grow amoun 2 it. Kinda like working out i guess.
Depending on the view one takes on vampires, it is conceivable that like humans, vampires will evolve to the environment around them. This being said, they will become stronger, smarter, and more cunning.... this is the nature of evoultion.... survival instincts dictate the changes.
You can't know how many far the "evolution" can send us... The "evolution" is some random, and some deterministic....
Seeing the fact that vampires may have come from an evoluion themselves some thousands years ago, and the fact that they are already more powerful in any sense than humanoids, i can't see how more they will evolve. if they do, they won't be vampires anymore. i think in the years to come we will encounter the evolution of hybdrids.
When it comes to hybrids,
met 3 of them so far least around me.
Even existing just one of it,for that,
it already started.
I believe that we will find advanced ways to feed. And I agree that phsy vampires will be able to use there powers at a farther distance with more control. I also agree with the thought that we will have stronger imune systems.
Pleasent Nightmares, Rose (Blade)
BloodyVampireRose,
How much more advanced than directly transferring energy from one being to another, could this be taken?
And when you speak of distance, would you accept that a person in the US, could contact and draw from a person in Europe, or perhaps even Japan?
I thought that evolution was how a creature adapts over a period of time to something that badly affects it.
I'm not sure an immortal would need to evolve.
The only thing that would be pretty cool would be if a vampire cxould evolve to go out in sunlight. If I understand it right the first touch of the sun is fatal, so it would be kinda difficult to start to build up a resistance to pass on to the next generation of vampires.
Hope that makes sense
..... I suppose for me it's the question of which kind of vampire... let's say the immortal in the same body one for argument's sake.
Very very difficult. With modern technology it is become hard to hide..... I mean most books and movies portray them as rich... but I don't think so. Unable to hold down jobs for any length of time... constatly having to learn new things to keep up... it must be very taxing.
i have a feeling that vamps area going to get less hidin and i think thatr within 30 years vampires want ahve to hide wat they do any mroea ndf that ppl won't really care
i see vampires evolving into better beings with a larger knowledge base
I wish I could say that on either part, I could see more than just stagnance, however, this is not the case.
"Self improvement is masturbation. Now self destruction..." - Tyler Durden
Vampyres as a species have been around as long as homo-sapien-sapiens (humans) there are subtle genetic differences though that seperate Vampyres from people. On the topic of evolution itself, no species fully changes there are however different breeds as it were.
Vampyres will continue and adapt becoming more and more effeciant in thier use of blood, thus becoming less and less reliant on it.
Its genetics, its breeding.
I hope that was not offinsive.
Xzavier:
In a way you are correct.
There are other facets that you are not looking at, I believe.
As human evolve they not only became aware of who they are and what they are but, in this day and age, we now can change some of the genetics involved.
Would that not be evolution?
Why couldn't vampires, in the same respect, not be able to evolve in the same manner?
I truly believe that the evolution of vampires may take the same raod.
That they will be able to genetically atler themselves, as they evolve. We have, haven't we?
I completly agree with you and in fact there have been Vampyre breeding programmes with genetic manipulation.
The idea of evolution is one species turns into another, as in so they can not breed with each other, adaptation and micro-evolution is what we see eveyday and it is what seperates let us say the wolf from the poodle.
There is no solid proof of Macro-evolution i.e reptiles to birds but micro-evolution is rampent.
As a druid i am able to more fully understand the psy vampire, drwing energy from another to sustain its life/existence. Tapping into the energy that surrounds all living beings including the earth shows that.
As the world changes and humans evolve then their energies change to adapt and exist within this plane of existence. A psy vampire would perhaps not have to evolve though most certainly (for those that have been her for centuries) would have to find ways to atune itself to the changing energy patterns emitted by human.
A strange example though makes sense to me, a radio must be tuned to the right frequency for it to fully take use of the patterns it is receiving, if it isnt perfectly tuned then static and garbled msgs taint the reception. I beleive this to be the same with any being that needs to draw/feed of said energies.
When i draw power from the earth and everything around it i need to focus and atune myself to these energies for them to pass through me. A psy vampire would need to atune itself to the frequencies as humans evolve.
K for one thing from the time that vampires came about there has always been different types. You have ravanos, ventrue, mulkavien, giavonnie, nosferatu, etc. There are even more now then there was centuries ago and they'll change and more will come that are different
First things first... Vampires are already an evolved breed of survivalists... as long as they are able to survive they should remain constant.
However, all creatures evolve with age, and through generations... the parent genetic passing on benificial traits to it's children. However, Vampires as far as I am aware are incapable of doing so. Hence they should be incapable of evolution.
Balance this with the fact that they have eternity so long as they are careful, and they should be capable of personal evolution. Say a vampire was to weightlift every day for eternity... they would become a strengthened kind of vampire (same with any other attrubute.) I guess what this depends upon is how the Vampire choses to spend it's life.
Now - Evolution is not necessarily natural... let's say for example that one believed the myth of the Dhamip (half-vamp half-human,) it would be possible that there would be a means of selective 'breeding' or procreation... that would lead to an evolution.
Denying that there is also genetic engineering... and splicing vampiric genes with god only knows what... could result in some rather interesting evolutions... with time it could be possible...
Take into account that Vampirism is a virus... and viruses have a tendancy to mutate... and we have a great many options.
Nikolai:
On some of your thoeries I would have to agree.
There is one in particular, that I have disagree.
When I was talking about genetics, I menat that the genetic strain of the species natually changing.
I don't consider gene splicinig as evolution so much as mutation.
I do not see Mutation as evolving.
I percieve mutating a species as de-evolving.
Whatever that species was to become has been altered. So that it is no longer, the species it was.
Sorry but if you go by myths then when you are changed the vamp dna doesn't completely change you it also incorporates some of your own dna or else we would look completely different so theres nothing saying that the human gene that allows for evolutionary change will be affected by the vamp dna therefore it can only be assumed that a vampire can evolve, besides again with myth when we are bitten we are either supposed to turn into that type of vamp or we can turn into a diferent type with different capabilties, if number 2 is how it works then isn't that a type of evolution.
For example a ravanos turns someone butinstead of turning ravanos they turn into ventrue and then when they do it to someone else that person turns into a nosfertau, they are all of the vampire clan and have the same characteristics but they have evolved into a different form
Genetic manipulation is not eveolution its science. As the Vampyric genes change so does the person. They are all interconnected. I must say that I am not all convinced that its a virus however.
I do not think of it as a virus either.
I think anything can be genetically manipulated. but, it changes what the original person/species was going to be without the help.
Whatever changes that are made artificially, there are going to be changes to negate the effect.
Nature will always have her balance.
All drama aside, The modern vampire is a creation of the Orthodox church. A long time proven tool of the church to pray on ignorance and fear much like the church trys to do with demon possesions today. The early Serbian peasants wove tales of the undead terrorizing the village to keep people in check. It then spread to Romania and throughout Persia eventually Bram stoker took the Eastern Europe folklore and combined it with its greatest hero of the Orthodox church, ironically i might add because Dracula was a tool of the church as well. The then ugly corpsey, zombie like vampire was replaced with a much more admirable glamorous version of the vampire. When movies started it was history. You couldnt help but love those movies and characters. The next evolution would be the vampire fan, a mix of subcultures of Sci-Fi, Horror, comic book fans, and Industrial and Metal crowds mixing into what we have today. Looking forward I think subgenres will come and go as well as popularity but the culture will continue strong.
Very good you are very knowledgeable I have to agree with what you have just stated but for those that believe they still exist then I say yes they will change for those that believe they never existed then no they won't but the people that love them will
I feel that they will as like humans evolve around and within the culture and surrounding. Hopefully growing smarter and more in tune on the survival side. I feel they will become stronger in numbers.
I feel just as everything on this planet over the years has done, that they also will adapt and improve on their survival skills, become more intelligent and aquire a more dominate insight of their sourrounding
Vampires, like all other beings, will evolve. For better or worse, that depends on your personal convictions. I personally believe that vampires will retain a higher level of power on all several different levels. And, like all societies, with the growing of power, there will be a growth in the numbers who oppose us.
i think we become faster smarter stronger and maby if possible people that get on are backs about vampirism will one day just give up
Im not sure exactly. Evolution can be a hard thing to try and predict because it can go either way. Something can evolve into something better or the exact opposit, something worse. So I am not sure.
The principles behind evolution mean that the evolving species must be improved by any change or the negative effects are bred out since they're undesirable. Either by dying or by not being chosen for a mate.
Modern psy vampires have evolved in such a way as to become more acceptable in society. This means that where an early 'vampire' was looked at as a mental illness or psychotic desire to kill and feed, and then later as a negative lifestyle fetish for blood, the modern vampire is able to gain the 'energy' without any physical harm to it's host whatsoever. This has moved the vampire out of the less acceptable 'blood fetishists' and into more of a belief structure. Since it is now looked at more as a metaphysical nature than an actual type of being, I think the evolution will continue upon a belief structure rather than a physical evolution.
I agree with FelixFelix...
Times had changed...life changed also...
Vampires had, and will continue to change...
