I saw a show called, Dead Like ME, about deaths reapers. They walk along the earth taking peoples souls. They look and act human, but are realy dead ppl in other bodies. Do you feel that there are really beings, or spirits or whatever you wish to call them, walking around with us, stalking us until its our time to die?

I don't know for a fact if these beings exist or not, but it's possible. How possible it is, though, I'm not really sure.

well i've had this discussion and Kalisto and we have decided, if we could find young bodies to inhabit, we would do it. sure we'd to go to hell eventually, but they'd be waiting a long time for us to arrive.

Well, I have seen the show and like it, but consider it fiction. Death and how we go to the other plane of existence has been the topic of many things in the entertainment and literary world. I quess I will have to wait until I die to find out if any of them were close to the truth.

I have not seen the program. I am trying to believe that there is something beyond death.

It isn't death really that I fear. It more of being in a state of awareness and being there in the my body.

i dont bother about death . when it will come its finished u wont know anything about it after death so whatever days you live live fully nad with happiness.i learnt this from my mom amd believe me it works.

I have seen and actually kind of like the show. It's almost a funny concept. And with all the different religions/beliefs, who's to say? We could all be way off. As previously said, I guess I'll have to get there to find out.

That show is boring. Yes, I think there are spirits, but i dont think they stalk us our entire life until we die. I think when it is our time a guide is waiting and will do their thing.

I've seen a couple episodes but didn't stay with it. The concept if cute but not really believeable to me. Like most others I'll wait for my death to find out the truth. But I'm not in a hurry.

watched the series quite a bit...different idea....i do not think it is a believable one though.

I think that spirits will guide us.....in whichever direction we go.

Death is nothing but another being(and/or adventure.) Though if there were reapers like offa that show, I'd be one, trust me...I'd take joy in taking another person's life actually (like offa the episode were the meter maid woman -whose now a cop- tore the soul outa that guy that pissed her off).

I do not find it any more unlikely than the idea of guardian spirits/angels protecting us. if we have those, why not have others that basically watch for death, each it would seem would have it's place.

BTW, I never stated my opinion. It is fiction. Funny fiction, but fiction nonetheless. There is no historical context nor is there even an established belief set that supports this possibility.

The "reaper" was historically merely a representation of Chronos (or Kronos, depending on culture) the god of Time. Death fell under his purview. At various times he is depicted as wielding a scythe, as a skeleton, and often holding an hourglass.

Later, the reaper became a representation of the Archangel Gabriel, angel of death, and was often depicted with the wings of a Seraphim.

As far as I can tell, there is no mention of the concept of a reaper temp-service in any culture of the world.

I am with Agnt666 why worry about it if you have not seen or if you even know for a fact of something.... I always say there is nothing to fear yet fear itself and well I just do not fear death it is what we all become in the end.. soooo......

well with the reaper thing you of coursecan't go off what hollywood would make, its like that one movie that micheal j fox did where everyone had numbers on their head, people are just trying ot find new ways of how people die, with this its just an original idea

I have never seen the show, but I do believe in angels and demons. I believe they are among us, but I believe in free will. I do not believe someone or some being is taking our soul to the afterlife. We leave this earthly plane and leave our body here.

why not have spirits that are decited to taking you at the time of your death to whatever lays in your future afterlife.

I think that it is possible in a way.
Not dead people in bodies but spirits in human form.
If we have Gaurdian Angles (?) then why not spirits waiting for our time.

well yeah i agree, how do you explain that ominous feeling that something is about to happen, then wham ya break a bone or something...

also I have had a few encounters... one time i was givin a gift, I prefer to call it the touch of death, usually when something is going to happen my lower arms and legs with become Ice cold, and more active

I believe that that spirits or beings can take human form or enter bodies under the right circumstances. I do not think they are always waiting for us to die or anything like that. Some I think are here to guide us.. others to learn.. some just for something to do.

yes there are beings out there that help out and do the dirty work if you would call it that.... but they are neccessery of the world would have been over populated a long time ago......

I figured it was just an anology or mythos, but then one day I met one, so much for thinking I wasn't afraid of death lol. I obviously did live though. Saw it with my physical eyes and it had come for me. I just knew who it was and why it was there. I dont care to go into how I got out of that one though. Was one of the very few entities I have seen fully physically.

I don't think they follow us around or anything, they just come when it is our time. There is actually a lot of folklore about there about various beings that come for us when our time is up.

I saw that show. It come on sci fi every tuesday. Hmm, not that I think anyone cares, lol. But yes, I do believe that there are chosen ones who are left here on earth to direct those who are crossing over. They may not pat our arms to take our souls or walk around in rented bosies I dont know, but I believe they are there waiting for us to kick the bucket, sort of like our guides to the afterlife.

As far as "could it be real", well, that depends. I know that there are spirits, I communicate with them all the time...do they remove our souls before we die a painful death....that's a little hard to believe. If they did, why do heart attack victims grab their chest and clench their teeth?

there is so much in life and death that we will never understand until that time comes when we all face our fate, but all we can do is guess since nobody has ever really died, gone to the afterlife, and come back to life to tell us. the show does open a different view as to what may or may not happen to us in the ending moment. i do enjoy the show though.

well personally I just see it as a hilarious show but if it were to really happen then I hope I don't get killed by a firing flying toilette. hahaha

i saw it too. quite fun, but nothing great. as for the idea that it could be true - why not? nobody ever suggests that the laws of quantum physics or superstring theories cant be true because Archimedes pr Pythagorus never wrote about it. why should all spiritual truth be only found in "holy books" and superstitition" why can't a new idea be correct? this is precisely the principle behind the religion of Gnosticism. the idea that the ancients and religious leaders only have a vague inkling, and true enlightenment is yet to come. i like the idea, and it ties in with the karmic idea that after we die, there is still a chance to earn redemption, salvation, or whatever.

The show is very funny! I'm glad that Sci-Fi brough this program back.

I watch that show. Very funny indeed. There have been stories of people all over the globe of people claiming to see angels (or sometimes demons) just before they die. Most likely the angel of death. So the answer to the question of whether or not they exist is a resounding yes.

I believe that any & all beings out there have better things to do than stalk me & wait until my time is up here & if they don't have better things to do with their time,then they should take up ANOTHER hobby!

this is a response to a post a few above me, if people claim they've seen the angel of death before they die...then how do we know they saw it?? hmm...

i know there are and i don't think they stalk you as much as they are there maybe for the final moments of our poor lives. Finally helping us transition to whatever is actually next for us.

I have a really silly question. As I do not watch TV, I would love to know where to find this show. this thread has made me very interested in at least checking it out. to see what it is all about.

as far as seeing the angel of death goes. sometimes people do come back from the dead. or if you're unlucky like me you get to experience it through patients that are truely dying ( i had a patient who kept asking us to pick up the "staff" that the angel had left at the foot of her bed, she died a couple of hours later).

I believe that there are gohsts and that if they want to be seen they will be.

I used to watch the show periodicaly and I find the whole concept a rather ironic plausability as far as fiction goes.
There is one thing that does make me edgy and nervous and that is that whenever I have been present for the Death of someone the is a feeling that I have noticed and I know its not just me as I have seen others experience this. the sensation is much like being hit with an exterme wave of sleepiness without being tired and the feeling of being drainded and wathced at the same time.
everytime I have encountered this sensation without fail some one has died usualy within 50' (feet). Having experienced this I do tend to wonder if there is something tending the dead, or if perhaps the dead are tending us.

You'd be surprised what some people really think about all this. I mean the people who look at all of us as freaks and whatnot. I actually overheard one of my professors saying that the whole idea of death personnified was just a way of helping the grieving cope with losing a loved one.

The idea of angels of death or grim reapers...well, why not? I mean, the idea goes back pretty far. Maybe they make death easier, who knows? Of course...if the grim reapers come and take your soul before you actually die, so that it isn't painful or whatever, then why do all heart attack victims (or at the least the majority) look as though they are in pain?

i will not say that they don't exist because i do not know that......but i don't know if i believe in a being like that.....there idea seems a bit stupid......sending already dead souls to collect more dead souls......a bit odd don't you think

Well, it is said once a soul is evil, after the physical body dies the spirit keeps getting sent back up over and over, so they "roam" the earth eternally. But that is if you are a believer in reincarnation...I don't know about the stalking end, but I do believe there are restless spirits who cannot find peace and possibly will not ever, who, can or do come in contact with the living.

I'd rather have someone help my spirit to leave my body than have it trapped for eternity with the shell.

I think we all have our own personall reapers. but until death, we never see or hear them, and at that moment in time, just before we die, it is who is most connected to our souls. weither it be person or animal.

I think they were called "death" reapers by time. When people died "out of the blues" (without being ill etc), they would say that they were reaped from there life or that the reaper killed them. Personally I do think that such entitties roam his world. I am not afraid of death, cos its part of me.
