Joli ran a great thread on the metaphors people would describe while energy feeding.
I wonder the same thing, only on the use of magic, for me magic is the direct opposite of energy collection, in that I focus a "ball" of energy within, focus my intents and then expell the energy from myself, almost like a wave emanating from me.
what are your metaphors for the use of magic, how does it feel to use?
I focus my energy much like shuffling through a tarot deck. It might take a hour, day, or week. I just know when it is right to stop and then project into my intended outcome.
Pretty much how I was taught Daer..I invision a small ball of light in my open hands and I build onto in layers till I am ready to cast. Each layer of this energy ball has a different color I think this happens because of me not sure I start out with a small but very bright white energy and when I am finished many times the outside is an orangeish color..Like I said think its due to me and the way I precieve colors and that orange is my favorite color..
It could be possible that true magic makes you release some energy like if you had feed someone, but still, it would have to be very powerful in order to be seen by thenaked eye, still sens by th eones who have the ability to do it well probably they could
My approach is like that of illuminati. I gather my energies and then project them out. Although, sometimes I get gripped with a real sense of wild energy and I'm just motivated to do a particular ritual right then. I just go with my instinct.
I focus my mind on what my purpose is then slowly begin to gather energy from myself and from all around me until I feel a sense of readiness then form it into a sphere and send it out. I feel a release when it's over wether physical or emotional I'm never sure.
I feel the energy most in my palms, gut, and jaw. In order to release the energy, I focus it flowing to my palms and coming out as heat.
Like some have said before me! I focus mine as an energy ball. Then I think about what I want to do with it & I guess only way to describe it would be that I see the energy ball blasting out of me. Sometimes if what I am trying to do is close by, I will see it come kinda shooting out from my hand & going where I have intended it to.
I completly agree. I use a ball of energy and expell as much as I need, yet I don't know if I ahve full control yet lol
Daermon what are you talking about?
Are you talking about magic or magick?
And what do you do with your magic and what do you project, and if you had a book of magic that could do almost anything what would you do?
VAMPARIAH,
It seems pretty clear that Daermon is asking how one envisions the process of energy working, however you wish to spell it.
What concepts does a mind conceive of when practicing this?
Hmm interesting question. I tend to imagine a a white light and as the light gets brighter I make the "wish" or chant and when I think it is sufficient....I let the white light go into the universe.
It seems the white light is used by many if I read the thread correctly.
Seems for many here, a sphere of light - whichever color it may be - is the image of choice. I also envision a sphere and as I channel energy, it grows, almost pulsates at times.
I also envision a sphere that changes shape and envelopes me as a protective shield at times..many times white, other times gold in color.
DD that is kewl golden in color the ones that I use as sheilds are often red or bright yellow
As others have said I see it as a white ball/sphere. I did at one point try to master controlling it, but for some time I decided it was all not real & I was normal. lol So at this point I do have some control, but once again I am working to master it! I see the shielding around myself and others as a bright light, on most people it is golden or yellow as someone else said.
Unlike what seems to be a majority here, I don't see or envision the energy I work with. I feel it in my body, moving about, and I intentionally focus it in my hands or chakrahs, depending on what I'm doing with it. I can't see energy or auras, but I can feel them rather well, so I seem to be lacking a "metaphor" to describe it. I just feel it as energy. I have nothing to compare it to...
I can describe it like a purple spiral spinning and chagin hues....from a person to me
"Are you talking about magic or magick?"
the difference is simply semantics, nothing more
"And what do you do with your magic and what do you project, and if you had a book of magic that could do almost anything what would you do?"
What is projected is Raw collected energy, focussed towards a given effect by force of will, if the will is strong enough, the effect takes place, is not the energy is dissipated back to the world it was collected from. and a book of magic, is little more than ink on paper or parchment at this point, I consider the "tools" of magic to be a crutch, used to focus the mind towards a working yes..but not necessary for such. all the robes books candles, altars, do is get you in the right mindframe to focus on your goal, if you are a sufficiently focussed person anyways, these things lose their necessity.
I picture strands of mist going from me to the person it is directed at.
semantics is defined as the meaning infered by word root. Since Magic and Magick are spelled differently they are different words, if it is an issue of semantics, then your magic and my magick have different properties and meanings.
Magick as I have recently learned comes from the knowledge of how to heal the body.
What is the purpose of you possessing magic? Daermon?
Scripture has an applicative value it is more than ink on paper I believe, and I think the magic, or collected knowledge you have has a purpose to it. I was just wondering what you do with your magic, why do you collect knowledge?
I guess to use a metaphor
What are you going to do with your snowball in hell. In order for things to have true power the power must be used, either internally or projected outwards.
I thought it was a good question "If you had a book that had any spell in it, what would you do with the magic, in what way would you change the world?"
Where would you thow that snowball in Hell?
dragonmaster, yes it's very possible. When you're ready, I'd love to help supply you with the metaphor in the particular.
Vampariah, you turned a well-known saying that means "We're basically agreed, let's not quibble over insignificant details" into semantics. (Incidentally, please picture me smiling when you read that because its intent was levity, not to mock.)
I also liked the question about what the one thing might be that you'd use magic to accomplish, but likely that's another thread. This one is the metaphor...what that feeling of magic is most like in description. Your suggestion, Vampariah, of the snowball in hell is very descriptive and certainly gives us a clear idea of how you feel about the matter.
I find it interesting that so many claim to actually, visually see the magic. I have a fair familiarity with the capability of the human brain to accomplish things we can't always comprehend, but even within the extreme margins of what our limbs and organs are capable of, some things just don't happen.
Legs, for example, tend to do leg-like things...even when standing in for missing arms. Legs don't suddenly become noses. How is it that the human eye, so VERY easy to study that we can correct vision in infants who cannot yet answer "better now...worse...better," that we aren't studying this ability to ACTUALLY see magic or energy. You people really need to volunteer for some research so us schmoes can have a clue!
If you're actually seeing it, you don't have a need for the ol' metaphor, but I'm grateful that you shared with the rest of us.
I must have gotten the Great Designer's surplus parts...to use a metaphor *wink*
"Magick as I have recently learned comes from the knowledge of how to heal the body.
What is the purpose of you possessing magic? Daermon?"
That is A use for magic, and the only difference between the words was that Gardners era of magus were trying to differentiate what they do from the stage magician, the word means exactly the same either way, it was just the popular connotations of the word they were trying to change, and it didn't really work.
The purpose of possesing magic, is to be able to access it as you would any other tool, should you find the need, this is the same reason one collecvts knowledge, it's not a demand that you DO use it, but a simple making it available TO use should the need arise, but as tho what I would do with great and powerful magics, most likely very little, as I don't believe in great and powerful changes being the better way, I prefer gentle nudges in life, they are less noticable, less intrusive, and less likely to get religious nuts into an uproar.
Yes, Joli, I understand, there is nothing wrong with being the exceptional woman. There are all kinds of stages of humans with all kinds of abilities. Just be put on notice that you are most rare, and it shows from the way that you post. There was a vampire assassin here the other night, come to make me dethrone in my heart the woman I was placing in it, with the aspect that in the freshest memory, a mistress is going to be an eventuality, as no one woman is going to have everything and sometimes the one you get with is because they are the only one whom will give you their all.
Yes Daermon, the enrgy of magic must be collected for use at the proper time, to be utilized when deemed necessary by the higher order, not by us.
I see you have dodged the question about what you plan to do with magic because you are like the great men whom time calls upon them to save their civilization, but not before the call from the powers that be demand it.
I was under the suspicion that you were hoarding magic for use as evil, but I see your purpose is as of mine, to understand evil or things taboo and misunderstood, for use for the greater good.
I consider the matter to be over.
Actually, I was poking fun at myself...think "army surplus" and leftovers.
Don't cut yourself short Joli, I have admired the way you post for the longest, you could not be so composed a person if you did not have some exceptionality.
Snowball chance in hell?
What do you find so magical about that metaphor?
I just threw that in in the last moment to wow the populace. Sometimes I just make stuff up just to sound important. Daermon is right about me, I am a fraud and my intellect is a cover up for a dirty mind.
actually I don't hoard energy at all, I simply feel that to use magic for something I can accomplish without it is an abuse of the gift of it, so it is a rarekly used concept for me, for there are very few things one cannot accomplish with a little work
i have to much energy, ive been descibed as a well by many, so more me the energy leaving is like the constant flow of a river trying to maintaine some type of internal balance
some people are like that
you are like a psy vampire, only in reverse, you bleed off your own energy so as not to overload,it's not that common, but not entirely unheard of either
I dont really know how to explain it, for me at least, I just let everything else go and let the energy fill me... thats the best explanation that I can give...
thank you all for posting in this, I think I heard the things I was expecting, and a few I wasn't
