Okay, I've tried to get some answers before, but I'm not getting anywhere. I want to know what's so cool about darkness. It seems like everyone's getting on the darkness bandwagon... what's so bad about daylight? What's so cool about being evil? Sure it may seem out of place on this website, but I'm convinced that people just say that they are dark, or they feel at home in darkness just because it sounds cool, or everyone else is doing it. Prove me wrong, explain why darkness?
i agree. too much is placed on "darkness" booo. and all that. whats wrong with light? and people being nice to each other? we're all on the same website.
i do not view 'darkness' as evil. the night time darkness is exhilerating for me. Its quiet, and a time for me to relax and grasp my innerself as a person. I can sit and not have to think about the stressful day i have. I can lay on a blanket or sit around outside listening to crickets chirping knowing that everything can be good. It a way for me to forget about daytime stress!
Ahhhh..never forget Twilight.
------
The darkness..is a place where all things considerd scarey..or unwelcomed exsist.
Not all things are evil in it.
Sometimes the lighter side may lay or hide some evil things.
Well, this is my way of what I see..and can explain it.
----
Without darkness,there is no light.
Without light,there is no darkness.
Without thoes..there is no twilight.
-----
yea, probably... it's kind of annoying how people tend to associate darkness with evil. Almost seems like trend to me
ooops got that mixed up.my bad!
---
Well they are always thinking they are the light.lol..thats why.
----
Whats so cool about it?
You can be excepted in it without rejection.
Thats why.
Even if your light or wierd or evil or whatever.
The light only excepts..well people who are always wanting to be in it,and anything wierd or has an evilish or devilish side will be throwen aside.
(Sorry if I'm a bad speller).
(sorry if that sounded mean, I didn't mean it to- just tryin to mix things up a bit. We seem to talk about the same things over and over again on this site ^_^)
For me, darkness is something that I have always known, and for me it allows me to relax, and have any headache I got during the day subside and what not. As for darkness being evil, that is something Hollywood and authors have made for them to make sense of something.
As for daylight, for me all it brings is stress, and the sun hurts my eyes, and to me that is evil
I've been rejected by people who claim to be 'one with darkness' and such, I know a lot of people who have. Generally those accepted into 'darkness' are those who share similar views with those who are already there, same with the light. If we can meld the two, could we not make a place of better understanding?
When did darkness become evil and light become good? The world doesn't work in black and white.
Dark and light to me are expansion and compression. Where those of the dark path seek to expand themselves, those of the light seek to compress their knowledge into a source or creator.
There is nothing wrong with either concept in my opinion. Why is darkness so rampant? Because we all seek answers that aren't found in cookie-cutter religions and beliefs that are traditionally light path oriented.
*coughs*Uhh..and thats why we have Twilight.
Not many go there..cause its like a battle. Two side being one..is a war waiting to happen. One side tries to dominate the other. Some are there..but only thoes who Can be there, without wanting to argue about evry little thing..about anything and everything that has to be a color, like white and black.
How about we call it the night instead of the darkness. I love the night because it is serene and silent. Plus you don't get blinded when trying to look into the sky. The moon is a beautiful sight. When I go for walks, it's during the night. The reason being is that there are less people out at that time, and I am not bothered. So if you think there is a bandwagon and dislike it, don't hop on.
Darkness is quiet and thoughtful... its a time to reflect on life, death and more... I dont consider it evil and people who follow darkness are normally the most interesting people to know
I like the darkness Cuz it is peacefull and you can think better at nigth
well if you see the things by the way they're cool or not then this is your opinion I guess ;)
people who choose darkness (like I) just have the feeling inside that they don't really belong to that "normal" community, it's called awakening and if you haven't felt it, I guess you just can't get what it means ;)
daylight? doesn't the sun is more attractive when your eyes burn and you can't look at it?
I'm sensitive to sun and that's not because I chose it, but I feel good in darkness because as you said I feel like home, I guess you have to feel the darkness inside yourself...
and evil? ... it's no cool being evil, you are, or you're not, there's no big deal to discuss about it...
but as you said there are many people who think it's cool just because other people do it... with time you can see who are "real" and who are not....
always trust your feeling...
I cannot claim darkness is better than daylight as it is merely an opinion. Also, I would not jump onto the bandwagon and declare that darkness is equivalent to evil. There are plenty of night lovers who are upstanding individuals and to make a categorical leap makes me believe you are buying into the hollywood image of a dark vampire rather than the nuance of modern day vampires.
Theres nothing wrong with the daylight...i actually like the day time but i feel better & prefer the night!!
Nightime is the bestime no one around to ruin your life, and you can be alone..I have to go out in the daytime but it dosent compare to the night..
Senses seem to be more alive in darkness. That why blindfolds work in bdsm play.
Honestly, I have often wondered the same. When I was still a rather ignorant, 14 year old girl finding myself drawn to this whole gothic lifestyle, I was trying hard to fit in. From what I understood, hating light and loving darkness, despising the sun, dressing in black, be generally unhappy, was a must. I wanted to feel accepted, since I at that point in my life had been rejected in every way imaginable, I was looking for a place where I would be welcome.
For some time I struggled with this, I convinced myself that light was evil and when I heard all about these goth people speaking of blood and even drinking it... I tried it myself. I did everything, until I one day when I matured I realized I didn't have to.
I had forgotten how good it felt to have the sun warming you on a cool day, the sound of birds singing in the early morning light, they joy of watching kids play in daylight... Don't get me wrong, I love darkness equally. I just realized I had been lying to myself, I didn't have to hate light, listen to death metal and wear black all the time to be accepted, instead I learned to accept myself as I am. I call myself gothic because I love the nature of it and I feel one, at peace with it. The difference is it doesn't mean I can't wear white clothes or go out in the sun... I look good in white, and I like the way my hair reflects the sunlight.
Anyway... My point is, Darkness isn't cool and light isn't bad. It's up to each person to find themselves, not based on other's opinions or ideas...
Oh,
And after reading everyone else's posts, I must agree that darkness or the night is something beautiful, but I think day can be just as nice. It all depends on how you see it.
I have also found that I get along better with or have more in common with people who are open to the idea about a darker self, again darkness doesn't necessarily have to mean anything negative. People who are "out in the light" often annoy me with their prejudices about what the whole gothic lifestyle is about... Every goth I know is happy, but their opinions often seem to be that goth people are depressed, sad and pathetic people who only think about death. At the same time, I think us darker people might have some wrong opinions about the "light" ones as well. They're not always what they seem to be, they just choose to deny their darkness or hide it in fear of not being accepted by friends and family.
Darkness is nice. During those times not many people are out. So everything is more quiet. And we do love that, some peace and quiet for time to time.
Light is the new darkness. People used to turn to darkness for getting heads to turn. These days it's more effective when you don't.
I dont think darkness is better than day light infact I'm a huge fan of beautiful sunny day's in which to bask in natures glory......but hte darkness is good for hiding in whilst you lick your wounds caused by those who love only the light......as for being evil...lol I'm evil in some way's but praticaly a saint in others with out balance there can be no light no dark no good no evil.....hope this helped alittle
Hello I like lightness.Whats the big deal about darkness anyway?
Its not tat i dislike the light..but darkness is where you can be free...and alone and a vampire...if you will...and just because we enjoy darkness does not mean we are evil
I would say neither. I prefer both, the symbol of yin/yang is a good representation of that changing of day to night.
Both are needed for different reasons.

I reply:
First of all, what's so cool about darkness? The answer, as you've seen, will vary depending upon who is giving said answer. If you equate darkness to evil, then all jokes aside, it's not so cool. If you equate darkness to the nighttime, then I personally like it because it's peaceful.
Secondly, people are always jumping on some bandwagon or another. Isn't that why one minority sect or another is always calling them "sheep"? So what? If people see a lot of other people doing something, they generally assume it must be cool and watnt to do it too. Herd mentality at it's finest. Occasionally, people are able to think for themselves and find out that HEY, they actually like the thing that is supposedly cool.
Moving on then...
Thirdly, what's so bad about daylight? Well, other than skin cancer and the fact that it might reveal to others what we actually look like; no shadows to hide in and what not...NOTHING!!! Daylight is freaking AWESOME. I've said it before, but what the heck...let me say it again - I LOVE the feel of the warm sun on my skin. I don't much care for the brightness or the heat (I'm a winter girl myself), but the feel of it on my skin...nothing better!
Fourth and last, you ask; what's so cool about being evil? Again, I say nothing. People can say what they want - evil isn't linked to a religion or anything like that. Or at least it shouldn't be. Some of the nicest people I've met have been other theistic Satanists. I, myself, can be fairly nice upon occasion. Sometimes. Maybe. But actually evil? Nah. Just not my bag.
i would have to say it is because in the dark you are free. in the light you are shown to the world, at night you can only be seen when YOU want to be seen. i don't think it is a bandwagon thing, everyone just has there own reason for loving the dark. i love the night because i can be free to be myself without judgement, not that i care what others think.
Darkness:
In the times of old, darkness contained many horrors. Such as wolfs and other predators of the night, bandit raids etc.
This fear of the dark has been passed down through the generations. When you were a child why were you afraid of the dark?
Darkness is painted in a negative light (excuse the pun) because of the conotations: fear of the unknown, unfamiliar surroundings etc It is also mentioned in various religions throughtout the ages a topic i wont go into in this thread as something to be feared.
I disagree with people that say darkness is evil. Its just misunderstood and carries the fears and addons of our ancestors.
For me darkness is a time i'm very comfortable with. Things are quiet. Its a time for reflection and general peace.
Light:
The light has always been portrayed in a good way, it helped crops grow in the past, provided comfort after the terrors of the night. It also provides warmth. (mostly) in religion the light was always good, the defender of all things, the defeater of darkness.
For me light is a good thing, it lets us get things done. Its light provides energy.
For me its a balance between the light and the dark, in my writing and in my life i strive to find that balance. May be its because im a geek. But the balance between the light and dark is even mentioned in star wars, the grey jedi.
My 2 cents on an interesting subject.
theres nothing wrong with the light.. and theres nothing wrong with the dark.. its all a matter of opinion and where you feel most comfortable
yeah no joke i think too many people are on a darkness trip I know people on here that are as far from the darkness as they can be
I don't know.
Maybe its calming or something. I know I like it better.
I don't like being sad though (who does?) and that is ofter associated with darkness.
The night holds power for those who can sense it. the night provides a sense ov calm. a soothing feeling ov inner peace that cannot be achieved in daylight.
If you think about it, the light has just as much power as the dark, I don't know where this whole idea of power in darkness came from. they both seem to be equals. But as far as the bandwagon goes, I noticed that NO ONE who responded to this thread said that they liked the light better, or even considered it as being equal. This is the point I was after. See, if a child who grew up in a family of carpenters never held a hammer before, he is bound to be better at swinging one than a child who never saw it. All throughout our lives we pick up small subconcious bits and pieces of information. By swining the hammer, we are simply mimicing something we watched happen. I think that this difference between light and dark is a subconscious mimic we picked up by watching friends. I've spent years as an empath, studied dozens of religions, and have yet to find any bit of differences between the two. So I say, seek beauty in both, seek strength in both (and save sleep for some other time)
I think you need a heatly balance of both..keep you balanced
Darkness is not always evil. Just as light is not always pure. It all depends on the person.
yeah, it could have gone a lot ov ways i agree, but it seems to me that you wanted it to go this way, to prove your point.
maybe just a little. You see, (now that the thread is calming down, I feel like I can share this) I've noticed that we only talk about the same stuff on this site. It's always about vampires or darkness or the paranormal (don't get me wrong, those are pretty cool to talk about) but it seems like for a large group of people who claim to be open and wise, we don't really get into many things that are nice and deep, that shake up our views/perceptions on life as a whole. I sort of put this up here to attempt to demonstrate this point. We really are a large group of (for the most part...) wise, and understanding people; I think we could do better, and delve deeper than some of our current discussions. Just makin waves,
-Juni
The funny thing is that the sun doesn't do a thing for me except make me suffer... if its too hot then my asthma goes nuts... but I cant even get a tan! I tried last year! I was outside as often as possible trying to even burn and nothing... as for night well I've always been a night owl! even as a child I prefered to be up at night and graveyard shifts are the best if you enjoy your job...
Evil is in the heart and mind set never in the Dark
that's a good point. A good friend of mine came up with a theory. His idea is that the sun is really good for you, and that it removes toxins from your body, and sunburn and skin cancer are places where too many toxins are built up from years of taking in too many. Heat exhaustion is when your body expells the toxins like normal, but it has an empty space that wan't replaced. I didn't agree with him at first, but I started a raw food diet, and did a couple of months of detoxification, and I never get sunburn, or feel like crap in the sun. I like the night too, I feel like it's a great time to think, I learn a ton of things at night, it's a nice quite time (if you want it to be) I also do most of my fire walks and sweat lodges at night.
people who are not exposed to daylight for extended periods of time tend to get depressed
hey dude, i'm a bright person, happy go lucky and shit. i only dress like that on occasion cuz i get bored of the same shit. people just try to dress with thier personality
Darkness as some wrote before doesn't mean that you are evil, anyone can be evil. Light, a person can still hurt you if they want. This also depends on who you are as a person and how you conduct yourself through life. A lot of people can not really feel the difference. So get off the hype about darkness being a bad thing. Look inside yourself.
you know sometimes i love darkness. I don't see dark as evil. Its just a state of mind for some people. I like dark but i also like to open my windows and let the sun light in to brighten up my rooms and basking in the sunlight is also very good.
the reason i like darkness is cause nobody will see me doing anything. In daylight everybody can see what your doing and and night nobody can. then darkness is more beautiful to me. Or the nght sky i should say.
Maybe its because we have lots to do in the day work school bills etc; the night time is a chance to relax and for us to mull over ideas and also be creative, i prefer to draw and write at night because i seem to get ideas out quick its like my mind is more awake, like its taken the whole day to become fully active
i'm not evil - i'm just misunderstood. what's wrong with sunlight? apart from skin cancer and cateracts you mean? walking in sunlight is like being slowly beaten to death with a marshmallow sledgehammer. darkness is cool because it is less hot than daylight. i never heard of anyone getting scorched or heatstroke from moonlight. sunlight gives me headache and moonlight is soothing and relaxing. darkness holds mystery. like fog - i like fog too, so i'm not just hung up on darkness. but then i suppose fog is a sort of darkness - a white darkness.
i'm not totally averse to light - just strong sunlight, intense heat, and over brightness. i like the darkness, but i think i love sunsets most of all. the rich colours in the sky - reds, purple, pink, gold - green even.
i suppose sometimes we all want to hide - and the darkness hides us. i love the night - but my soul is about as dark as candy floss.
Darkness is mysterious which attracts people. People are a scared of the dark, to thats another reason why people flock to it.
Light well, it helps you see, it crows things (as said above) ect...
But one thing people do miss is that (as per my quote) that even in darkness the light that is there is brighter then it would have been other wise.
I don't like darkness because it's the "cool thing to do" or because it's what everyone else is doing, and I also don't think it's evil. I like darkness because it makes me most comfortable, it makes me feel like I can really be...well...me.
That's very true Ishta, perhapse there is animosity towards daylight because of what happens during the day. Not much happens at night that brings us harm. Let's recap what happens during the day:work, school, traffic, aggravating people and the stuck up, frustrating time of being 'professional' Wearing uniforms, dessing 'socially accepable, etc... At night, there is not often all that terrible of a time:Sex, late nights with friends, night clubs, chatting online, etc. Granted there are good and bad things about both that are not up here. Hmmm... that's a good point, I like that. A+
Peace, Love and Gratitude

the darkness is not evil. what most people don't understand is why people go to the dark side is it is less chaotic then the day.
I have always been a night person, most of my jobs are night shifts. I seem to feel better and am just more active at night. Not so much the darkness aspect of it, but I simply find the night more comforting and serence. As opposed to the bright light of day and hot sun.Just my nature.
I love the dark and the night, however that doesn't mean I'm evil and want to kill. The night is just more peaceful and the moon more powerful. You have to look at all points before you choose the best. I just happen to love the night more then the day. To each their own.
Okay.
Reason #1: The sun can cause skin cancer...or, even worse, TANS!
Reason #2: You can stare at the night sky as long as you want, without hurting your eyes.
Reason #3: Bats come out at night, as do owls...amazing creatures, really.
Reason #4: You can't get sunburn from the darkness.
Reason #5: Most of the people you hate are in bed late at night...however, if they're not, it's easier to chase them down and suck their blood without being seen.
Reason #6: It's peaceful. The daytime tends to get pretty hectic, whether you're at work, school, or wherever.
I think that's enough for now. If I think of more, I'll let you know.
"I like the dark. The dark is good. Totally."
~from some 80's TV show that I can't remember the name of
altho, you can't survive without the sun, you're body will literally start to rot. The sun helps your skin, it provides Vitamin D to you. That's why if we lived underground without a sun, we would need to sit under a sunlamp for something like thirty minutes a day. Plus most murders happen at night. Also, there are bajillions of birds around during the day, and Deer, and Rabbits, and Coyotes and Wolves, and lots of other cool things. Without the sun, there'd be no plants, no life. All of the life on this planet begins as light from the sun.
I don't like the darkness because it's "cool"
I've always felt at my best & most comfortable at night since I was a child...
It doesn't make me "evil" & I dont consider myself so either
& as for why I feel most comfortable at night is because Im not a big talker in person, I dont like crowds or noise...I love going to nightclubs & such but that isn't every day, I enjoy my peace & quiet, my alone time more than being with people
You have a range of issues highlighted with the question you have posed. Light and dark do not necessarily refer to night and day. Understandably, they both have their benifits and their detriments, one's personal preferences being based on an evaluation of the compilation of factors alloted to each side of the equation. In any social dichotemy, the idea of what is popular counts with two votes where an ordinary reason would get just one in the temple weighings of the good against the bad.
In most cases, as with most people, the social grain is the one most often traveled with as the expression goes. The darkness as you refer to it, more accurately the night is most commonly a mix of social favor and personal opinion.
The night being its own social entity in a way appeals with among other things its culture and its energy. If it's cool, it's because this appeals, if not then it does not. There's little that can be proven to you per se. You may understand more by hearing the reasons of people who favor one or the other, but your own opinion is best swayed by personal experiance.
Darkness and light are abstract concepts as much as they are scientific principles, so there's the entire subject of metaphorical application across a wide variety of issues. Those can make anything light dark, and anything dark light. That's the beauty of the subjective aspect of things, as well as the limitless variety of perspective and application. If you've something specific in mind, I might just be able to touch upon that.
both at the same time , to better explain i prefer both i fear niether you are just as likely to get shot at night aka the darkness as you are in the middle of the day aka the lightness ,as for wich is wich wel they are truly equal for the light is what creates the dark where else would we get shadows from if it were total darkness there would be none.
so i will have to say they are equal and both a nessessity to the other
thanks juni - i forgot that one. there are bajillions of birds around in the daylight. i HATE birds!!!
you have a point about all things needing sunlight, and the vitamin D thing - but at the same time, if there were no night - just permanent sunlight, everything would die. try leaving plants in a greenhouse that has permanent light, never switched off.
on the whole, i prefer the night - but even i want to see daylight occasionally. i once worked in a dingy factory, and worked long hours - so for about 3 months a year i rarely saw daylight at all. it got quite depressing. conversely, like a great many people, i cannot sleep easily if there is too much light, so a world without darkness would be a world without sleep - truly horrible.
THe way I see it, a lot of it has to do with the fact that the darkness leaves a lot mysterious. Humans aren't equipped to see in the dark, which means that whatever is lurking over *there* can't be clearly seen, if seen at all.
Humans, by design, are diurnal--the day is where we're best suited to survive, and our predators are active during the day, as well. The night is a completely different world for which we're unsuited.
Lets see, sun burns, moon doesn't. Sun hurts the eyes, moon doesn't. Lots of people roam around during the day, not so much during the moon, its less crowded. I perfer feeling a lil closer to the last person on earth rather then be smothered by others.
First off, I like bandwagons, usually get to hear some really good music that way.. That aside.. light... vs dark.
When I was little I was terrified of the dark, always saw things that weren't there.. but may have been. As I grew older I learned from the darkness the beauties filling it.. The muted colors, especially the blues, the quietness perfect for contemplativeness. I like quiet, need it.
I read a book once where white was evil and black was good, very interesting take on it actually, but the point is, light/dark, evil/good, it's a point of view. It's harder to hide evil in the daylight, but you can't hide light in the darkness.
And please don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the sun for doing what it does. Making things green. I hate cities because they're not green enough for me, I appreciate the colors and the warmpth. Most especially the plants and the sunsets. I still don't like the sun, i don't blame it for my burns or tans, it's my fault if I don't wear the proper protection. It hurts after a while, headaches, sore eyes, etc. I just feel more at home with the darkness, sometimes I feel a little extra evil and the invisibility of the night helps feed it, but I'd rather sit in the dark watching the stars than be in the sunlight exposed to the world.
Did you know: you can get a tan or burn from being under the moon too much. Why? easy, it reflects the Sun's light, it just takes the beams a little bit longer to reach you and aren't quite as poetent because of the moon's atmosphere. I like my sunlite in many ways, i just prefer it comming from the moon.
"I'm a fool on a hill watching the world go by, an amused little smile dancing across my lips."
i like both night and day but am much more comfortable and at peace at night but thats just me and i dont consider it evil or a bad thing
Darkness is nice, but in a survival situation or living primitively, the night means cold and biting insects, the daytime is quite a bit more enjoyable. I think that if the daytime isn't mysterious, then complacentcy is deeply rooted in you, and you're not looking hard enough
The Moon will sing to you, the sun will burn your ass. It is not a hard choice to make. some people will never understand. Here is another thing to ponder. For those that dare, or the money to have one, put a cloak on and go out in public. Once during the day and the other at night. same number of people watching you. Then tell me you don't feel the difference between the night and day. You can have the sun.
i agree ppl tend to follow the in thing, as darkness is the in thing at the moment a lot of ppl are joining the bandwagon, not knowing wat it is about. I for one am on neither bandwagon I am not goth or religious and i have no intentions of going either way because someone i know is into it. My belief is if you want to be a part of something be a part of it because you want to be NOT because it looks cool and is the in thing.
I like the dark, but not because it's evil or anything like that. I like it cause of the calming quiet. It gives me time to think and reflect on my life and those people in it...
I personally believe in having a healthy balance of light and dark, its the only true road to enlightenment, that and loving yourself for who you are dark and light. The darkness is attractive to me simply because in the harsh light of day someone might see the real me, and I don't want people to see the real me, been hurt often enough to know that society is intolerable. However in the dark you can shed the masks and be who you truly are and the best part is you meet others that share the same thoughts and feelings as yourself. Besides there is nothing prettier than the moonlight!
darkness..well for me it's jsut a part of me i never planned to be a nocturnal being it just happened...i am sure there are alot of wannabes who think it's cool to hang with the big boys but in all honesty you are either a person of darkness (nocturnal) by choice or by some other means..i think its all just a personal prefference and it just so happens that everything i enjoy in life has to deal with being (nocturnal) people may see me as a freak but w/e i am just being me as i am sure everyone else is too!..ppl tend to always fear what they can't understand and darkness just happens to be in that type of catagory.
Darkness and light need not be evil and good.
It's just that people tend to label them such.
't's mostly like a gun, it can be used for good or evil...but depends on the person wielding it.
First, just because we love the darkness, we are not evil! I love the darkness, night time, because it is soothing to me. I feel more comfortable surrounded by a cloak of darkness. It is also a better time to perform spells and rituals. The Moon phases are probably the most important thing while working spells and what not. And the Full Moon is so beautiful, there is nothing like it! Plus, I hate bright lights, and the sun hurts my eyes. I'm 33% blind in bright daylight. This doesn't make me evil.
I don't think complacency is rooted in anything other than the person who may or may not be complacent.. big difference between complacency and contemplation. Not much wrong with complacency either, if one lacks the will to discover the mysteries of the daylight so be it. We need the just as much as we need the night even if we don't want to admit to it. And just for point of argument, I get most of my bug bites during the day. Dang mosquitos!
Has anyone ever noticed that magic tends to work or better or find yourself a better catalyst to magic at night than in the day?
Depends on what it is I am attempting.
I think that we all have aspects of both within us, and there are many many ways that we can relate to both. Otherwise there would not be the diversity and exploration of discovering ourselves.
I don't view darkness as gothic or evil. I myself enjoy the serenity I feel in the night. The air seems to be easier on the body and soul. I enjoy the depths of the dark sky and the multitude of stars in the sky. Don't get me wrong I love being out in the warmth of the sun as well. But being in the sun to much wears me out and makes me sick. I have an allergic reaction to it. Besides I work third shift and sleep during the day time.
I think it is all due to the Hollywood Hype. Hollywood makes people view things so much differently.
You can see more things in the dark, then you can during the day.
very good question... to me its just another stereotype, a made up fantasy world that might actually make someone feel a little better about themselves, but the truth is that it really has nothing to do with the light or dark, it has everything to do with your mind and soul, and also how one perceives things in this life. If I wanted to put myself in this position then Id say Im neither light or dark, but grey i guess, somewhere in the middle, and thats where i'll stay because I like it there. anyway, enough of my nonsense.
I prefer night because it seems more magical, mysterious, dangerous. There's nothing like walking between skyscrapers at night what with all the lights twinkling, the neon signs, the scary looking dark alleyways. The night brings out the crazies which is always entertaining. Tu me the night seems more alive.
True there are some who go with it because they think its the cool thing to do but I have always liked the dark better and I also have sensitve skin and eyes so its easier for me to be in the dark then it is in the light. Since I can see in the dark also I have no problems
Personally, I don't see darkness as evil... I see it as a relief. To me, the light is just too exposing! I sound insane, I know, but i prefer the darkness over the light because it is what i am used to.
evil.... on the other hand... i don't see the dark as evil, but many people do. To me, it isn't evil because I'm one with the dark, and I'm not evil. :) You all can ignore my rambling, if you like.
Lets see, day light hurts my eyes. I hate bright lights. Sun reflecting off snow is incredibly painful. I hate sweating. Now, there is the night...It is beautiful, serene, I like the cloak of darkness, I love to be able to see the stars and the moon. Most everyones little kids are asleep, and therefore, quiet. I can say more, but that about covers it!
The darkness and light is not about good and evil...it's about balance...ying and yang. Some animals live in the night...owls for example...deer...does that make them bad? No it protects them from certain predictors that would eat them during the day. For me darkness is when I can feel at ease...I have social anxiety and noise bothers me alot...I also get ill in the sun...to vomiting and nausea...Therefore the night is a refuge for me...it's when things cool down and I can peacefully wander around walking my dog without interuptions...IT's a time to think and relax...plus the sky is lovely. Just think if there were only light all the time...wouldn't we be missing out by being blinded? Wouldn't things burn away? The darkness is refuge not evilness.
For me it's not about Light and Dark, it's all about the tan!!
I have always been drawn into things of mystery and the forbidden. It doesn't mean that I want to slit your mother's throat and bath in her blood.Ummm..actually maybe I do...what blood type is she?
No really now, I'm a good person with a kind heart as I'm sure many of us are. It's just that we can be ourselves like this for all to see, instead of hiding behind a fake countenance. But hey thats just my thoughts upon it.
I don't have a preference. Sometimes I feel like the dark is my best friend and will change my shedule to achieve maximum night time. Other times I feel like basking in the sun.
first off, let me give the definitions for the word "dark" (taken from the online dictionary at www.m-w.com):
1 a: devoid or partially devoid of light : not receiving, reflecting, transmitting, or radiating light b: transmitting only a portion of light
2 a: wholly or partially black bof a color : of low or very low lightness c: being less light in color than other substances of the same kind
3 a: arising from or showing evil traits or desires : evil b: dismal, gloomy c: lacking knowledge or culture : unenlightened d: relating to grim or depressing circumstances
4 a: not clear to the understanding b: not known or explored because of remoteness
5: not fair in complexion : swarthy
6: secret
7: possessing depth and richness
8: closed to the public
There are so many reasons within those descriptions that I consider myself dark, these are just a few:
1. I prefer night over day (or a dark room to a bright one for that matter), and function much better after the sun has set.
2. I am drawn to the darker, more taboo things in life.
3. I find amusement in things that most people wouldn't (yes, I'll probably laugh at your pain, but don't take it personally, I laugh at my pain too)
4. I would take black magic with complete freedom over white magic with limitations anyday
well...you get the idea. As far as saying it or doing it because everyone else is, that's just not me. I am not a sheep, I won't say or do anything to follow the herd, or just to be cool. I really could care less what anyone else thinks about me.
I happen to like both, but I'll lean more towards darkness in the end.
While I love the heat and the warm weather, the sunlight hurts my eyes very badly and I'm more awake and attentive at nighttime.
I prefer the Dark over the Light
I tend to change my attitude when the light goes down and the darkness rises.......I become Alive!
