is it something Unexplainable....
is it our 'inner guide'?
my intuition has got me out of ALL sorts of troubles that saved my life and my heart and helped me decide what to do and where to go...
So..what IS this intuition... In your opinion and DO you GO with it and do some feel it, stronger in the psychic levels?
I feel Intuition is on a par with an unknown force because it is a feeling of things that haven't yet happened.. Yet can guide to the better, for the better.
does the Intuition affect the 'gut' or the mind or both!
It is explainable but nobody totally agrees on the meaning. Not to long ago intuition was for women only. Men had a gut feeling. Took some time for the guys to come around and admit it was the same thing - almost. There was a reason for this too. Men did not, or was not allowed to, express emotions of feeling. And why is this important? For one of the explanations of intuition you need to have emotion, for it is the connection to your higher self. It is this being, the true you, that intuition comes from. The mind connects the body, the emotions connects the soul. Merely having a gut feeling is only a hint of this. Women had a better connect and thus better intuition.
It's only one way to explain, there are others. Should you trust it? Well..that's up to you. Mine is always right. Every time I go against it, I laugh afterwards. Damn wouldn't you know, it was right again.
I feel it in my gut more than mind , but so far when i listen it hasn't failed me....
It's odd and i still tend to doubt it but i shouldn't ....i have started to take more notice.....
my 'Gut instinct' .. (intuition) has ALWAYS been right...
It seems to be an ivisible warning or guiding tool!
"if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" perhaps comes from an inuitive experience.
Whenever I "get a bad feeling" about something, I go with it. Err on the side of caution, I say.
I believe intuition (however you perceive it to be) is your own sense of right and wrong. I'm sure we were all taught that growing up. The feeling I get in my gut, I think, is my mind's way of telling me that even if consciously I can't tell what's wrong, subconsciously I know something isn't right.
Instincts should never be ignored.
If you actually listen to your intuition (gut feeling, 6-th sense... whichever you want to call it), it'll very rarely lead you wrong. They key is that you have to actually listen to it. Many people do not--they'll have a 'feeling' that something isn't right or they should do something but go against it.
It's kind of a survival tool, telling us to get out of a bad situation before it happens and showing us the way to go.
I think intuition is just a natural feeling you get when things are about to go wrong... Because i usually know when somethings going to mess up so i go with what my intuition says...
I admit my logic always overpowers my intuition & I ignore it. & I've always been wrong when I've gone the logical way. I need to start listening to myself lol
Humans are essentailly animals, when you get down to brass tacks about it. And animals survive by their instincts.
I don't think instincts are there to lead us wrong.
♥
I think most people will say that it is always right but the question is where is it? Outside your body as a guide or higher self. Or is it a more attuned you. A clearer state of mind.
Instincts are not your intuition. A fight or flight response does not help you in todays world. We no longer need to over eat before winter comes. This is instincts. Big difference.
Yeh it's weird.. where does it come from? the soul???
Uncertainy has always got me in the shit.. If I stick to my guns and GO WITH my intuition.. I am More than ALWAYS lead to the clearing and saved from further danger or trickery or abuse.
Personally, I prefer to call it instinct and I was told since I was a child, that you have to follow your instinct... because as someone else said, is the connection with your inner self... so, subconsciously you feel and know something is wrong or right and that feeling is what you feel counsciously... ***ufff... got tired!!***
The fight or flight response has helped me immensely thusfar.
some experts believe that subconsciously, we are constantly on the lookout for danger - all our senses are alert, but we are not aware of it on a conscious level - so we pick up on signs subliminally. your subconscious mind might notice something out of place, or pick up on body language that we do not register consciously. the brain then sends a little signal to you saying "dont trust him" or "dont take that risk" or "dont poke that fish".
lol i don't know but i know everytime i go against something i am feeling something bad happens. i have a feeling not to do something and i do it something bad happens.
I think that Intution is an instinctual response that is part of our genetic make up. Kinda of like a threat assment centre.
Intution in it's most basic form is the fight or flight response.
Or there is Carl Yung's theory that intution is part of the collective unconscious.
I think that those of you who have Always been spot on with your intuition are very very lucky/blessed. I know of many times that following my intuition has gotten me into trouble.. then again, it may be that I needed that trouble.
I'm also the kind of person that gets more than one feeling for situations, most of which feel like my intuition. Sometimes it's wise to question yourself and what you think is your intuition. All those little feelings and/or 'voices' have signatures. Maybe in the past I had just picked up on the wrong ones following it blindly as I thought it was my intuition or 'gut' feeling. Now i have to pause and make sure the feeling is right, that the signature on the feeling is mine or from a trusted source.
It's always smart to follow your intuition, but be careful not to follow it blindly, that makes it easy for someone to send you a false signal if they find out you never check. I'm not saying to secound guess your intuition, just be careful. I know my true intuition has never lead me astray.
As for what exactly it is. I don't know, but I doubt it's your subconscious, 'cause the only differences between your conscious and sub conscious are the organization and the way the information is accessed. I also, personally, don't think it comes from outside us. I think, perhaps, it is the true essense of ourselves, the who we are if every thing this side of existance were taken away.
in my opinion our higher selves know more about everything than we wish to believe so when it feel we are in danger of anything it will tell us in the most unusual ways with most its what we feel in our gut.
I always called it my gut instinct I believe it to be accurate
I feel it in my gut I always thought it was just my psychic ablilties I believe all pshchic energy is connected to each other somehow
whatever it is I'm in less trouble when I listen to it and feel stupid when I didn't
Gut feelings and intuitions would be more easily decided upon if it were like Lost in Space and we could hear a clear voice warning us "Danger Will Robinson! Danger, Danger!!"
As it stands,we have to rely on our best judgement, so it's a roll of the dice, every time.
I think intuition is your mind subconsciously seeing that things don't add up and thus you get a feeling that things are not all as they seem.
"I agree replies and merely saying hi", will and have been deleted. ~ billy
Personally I think its, ok i'm not sure what it is but if i thought about the more my own intution goes to fate and the idea our lives are already maped out and intution helps keep us on that path fate chosen for us and maybe its links into others as well.
i think it's motly you guardian angel telling you something and warning you at the same time
I have to say for me. I have loved ones, guide's, spiritual intuition that carries me through certain aspects of my decision making. I do believe in the gut instinct as well. If you are ever feeling that little uncomfy fierce feeling, than more than likely you should not do it.~NFA
Intuition, sometimes depends most of the time and the circumstance you are in. Whether you desire to protect yourself or others from danger, it mostly will come.
What I think is that the stronger the feeling, the more we must pay attention to it. After all, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure right? What do we have to lose following it?
Your intuition is nothing more than basic instinct. We are animals you know....
When rain is coming, animals hide. When you bring someone over and it's the only person your dog ends up hating, doesn't that person turn out to be a total dick?
Because of the way society has raised us, we have lost touch with our basic instincts.... But every once in a while, they will force their way out and save your ass just because you're too stupid to do it yourself. lol. :)
Wow.. Racheal.. THANKS i dig your feedback LMAO.
and yes.. my intuition kicked in SO heard at times, it literally HURT.. til I took action!
I always trust my gut feelings, deep inside you should know if something is right or wrong and this is what I believe intuition is.
For ME---intuition is a combination of my moral compass, experience, education, instinct and psychic intuition. We are the sum of our experiences and education. I do not think we can take that out of the equation.
Just me two cents.
Hard to answer with all the well done ones already posted!
When your spidey sense starts to tingle, you really should listen to it! Only twice has my intuition failed me, but every other time, I took heed and whew, glad I did!
Some people have a more heightened awareness and they are most certainly blessed.
Wonder if that same place where Intuition comes from is also, where Psychic ability comes from!!
Intuition is the flash of sudden knowledge that comes into our minds from somewhere else...
There are three essential minds per person: physical, mental, and spirit.
Physical is the one that processes day to day issues and scenarios. It has a significant filter on it that allows us to function in a world that would otherwise be overstimulating.
Mental is the one that traverses from physical thoughts to the spirit plane and the self that exists on that level, often referred to as the "higher self". Mental is the one that kind of acts as a messenger from spirit to physical.
Spirit is the one that lives in the spiritual plane. It sees the aspects of life in terms of a broad overall understanding. Its perspective and line of thinking is in terms of what will help one to evolve spiritually and move forward in the unseen world.
"Intuition", as such, is the messenger (mental) bringing the waking self (physical) insight from the spiritual (spirit) higher self.
COOL AS....
Thanks jenova..
that's really interesting to read..
Thanks honey

^_^ minx...
Interestingly enough, the three minds also play a significant role in magic/ wish fulfillment/ self fulfilling prophecy. It starts in the opposite direction, where the physical sends a message to the spiritual via the mental self. The spirit self enacts on the desire of the physical self and can bring about the right opportunities to bring about the desired result. More often though, I think that the spiritual self simply "keeps an eye out" and then sends intuition on down the line when the opportunity is getting ready to walk by us on the street.
I most definatly listen to my intuition. It's kept me from getting hurt or putting me in a bad situation many, many times. I belive it is something that all humans are born with but I think some people are more in tune to their intuition and are more apt to listen to it.
Jenova does explain things well, doesn't she? :)
To me, intuition is that little voice that tells me yes or no to an idea....and then reinforces it with a kick to the stomach.:)
My friends and family have come to call mine my antenna. It runs about 98% accurate... I listen to it above all else!! I think it's fact... I've had some people who didn't believe tell me it's in my head, but it's really saved me from a lot of things. AND 2 who thought it was in my head were kept from bad situations by my antenna. So I believe everyone has it they only need to listen to it...
I believe so much in my "antenna" that I have lost out on hundreds of dollars when the feeling has hit me by changing my plans...
On the flip side when I have not listened to it.... I have had some horrible things happen which I will not get into... Needless to say I always...
I encourage everyone to listen.... If your inner voice is talking to you there is a reason!!!!!!!!! Listen to it!!
I think intuition is our Subconscious
minds interpretating received information and giving us a conclusion before our conscious mind has waded through all the facts and figures. I use my intuition all the time at work as a guide and back it up with the hard facts.
I go with my sixth sense on most things how ever I've been burned plenty of times by people because I pushed it aside... However in one instance I found the love of my life.... Don't get me wrong I still got "shot" by the mutual friend but it was worth the hate to have him....
When it comes to my "gut" feelings I tend to follow them most than not. But for some reason when it comes to feelings off the heart I tend to go against my gut feeling. Maybe I should stop doing that.....
The inner guide should always be listened to. It often knows far more than what our outer senses are telling us
i trust my intuition. i love logic too, and i will often try to use logic and reasoning to justify or back up my intuition.
i have found that if you follow your intuition you will be much better off. i have strayed from my intuition and the price i had to pay was not a good one. intuition is there to lead us. use it
well often i go by my instinct and i come out making the right decision most of the times .yea sometimes it backfires on me but thats fine by me.
Has anyone ever had an over talkative "inner voice" in which case does that inner voice still count as an intuition. Are there perhaps more than one thing that makes up what it is. Is there anyone that really knows? I'm not sure i want to know for sure. I'd hate for my gardian angel to have that kind of responsiblity, after all it is my mind and life at stake shouldn't I have most of that responsibility. What about spirt animals, couldn't it be one of them?
Just one more thought, what about nature, magic, and energy in general directing us in the right way, why couldn't it be that? For some odd reason it seems to feel right to me, at least as a possiblity. that the voices flow along the eb of time offering hints and helps along the way.
I always try to go with my instincts and intuition.....it usually seems right.
I should learn to trust my intuition, so often it tells me one thing, but fear of "what otehrs may think" has kept me from following it, as a consequence I have spent the last 8 years miserable. Now I have put my trust in it again and I am the happiest I have been in a very long time and following my true path again.
Some of us are slow learners
MY intuition WARNED me, years ago.. of PAIN if I were to carry on a certain trend!
Something was confusing me tho...
Could have been the 'cycle' I was trapped in, could be my heart saying "give it time"..
MY intuition was RIGHT all along.. thank Goodness My Intuition doesn't get mad at me!!
It was right about WHY I was FEELING what i was feeling.. I had no idea where this overwhelming 'feeling' was coming from.
I am sure glad of the lessons I have learned.
MY intuition also taught me that TRUE Evil.. CAN look ever so pretty.
If something 'feels' wrong.. HAVE you EVER been wrong about it?
I haven't.
I have always believed your intuition is a mixture of your 6th sense and an inner guide helping you to make the right decisions and act as a warning of danger.
Sometimes I find it hard to decipher between intuition and what I really want to feel. They can be confusing.
Some of it is not instinct- but merely a want that you are pondering. It's something you only find out with time. And then you attribute it to intuition when it wasn't really that at all. You could say, "I knew it!".... but you didn't know, you just wanted and it happened.
i say ur a bloody idiot if ur intuition tells u one thing and u do another. your body has wonderous ways to tell u to do things and most of the ti me it is to stop u getting hurt
I almost aways go with my gut intinct.. but.. there are times when i dont.. just its like a conflict within myself when i dont.. which is something i am going through right now.. with a decision i made.. i am not sure if i made a good one or not.. for me its like I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop.. always..
SOmetimes i am thankful when this happens.. it makes me more aware and more in tune with my decisions and look into it more.
I have always listened to mine its like a warning that goes off
i usually listen to my intuition and it is a good thing and when i dont is when it gets me into trouble
funny. i was always told my gut feelings and intuitive designs were always rubbish and are claptrap.
Now that person believes that they are the best gift.
It's true.... evil Can look ever so pretty....
But does "evil" say "good" is evil, or does evil say it is itslef???
Only you can decide.
A gut feeling CAN be wrong. and SO can the INTERPRETATION of the feeling!
You just never hear of those occassions. That's nature.
it's just a propagandist view....
observe.....
95% of motorcyle accidents are fatal or cause serious injuries
compare that to only 5% of car accidents!
wow.... conclusion..... Motorcycling is DANGEROUS....
RIGHT????
WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER STATISTICS????
90% of motorcyclists have NEVER been in an accident or even a near miss.......
compare THAT to 10% of car drivers who have NEVER been in the same situation....
NOW.... which is more "dangerous"?
These are MORI statistics. Please check them out.
Read the papers, you hear "MOTORCYCLIST DIES"
rarely, but a bit thing.... how many car accidents do you hear or read about??
My ppoint is.....
you can ONLY base your decisions upon FULL information, NOT just "instinct"
Now.... if i asked you to come out on a motorcycle for the first time, and you ONLY KNEW the first statistics.....
your INSTINCT / GUT feeling is going to say NNOOOOOOOooooooWAY!
wouldn't it?!
and you would react and NOT go. and you'd NEVER know if it were right or wrong.
not gonna rant anymore. Toys might be thrown out of prams for my unsatisfactory inteference.
I'm sorry if the exercising of my right to free speech has offended anybody.
Any good Opinion or arguement should offend at least half the 'audience'. And I think you make a valid point!
Thank You Arayne.
I appreciate your input and understanding.
Good logic too! I never thought about it like that! I guess that's why they say the truth hurts!!! But why offend people if you know they won't listen or agree? That's not a debate. That's a Kangaroo Court! LoL
How many times do you hear..... "I KNEW THAT WAS GONNA HAPPEN!!!!!!!!" ?
yet funny.... they NEVER mentioned it before!!!!!
How many times do you hear "I got a bad feeling about this!"? and nothing happens..... yet they don't say their instinct was wrong!!
DIFFERENT though, is this...
Standing in the queue of a Roller Coaster...
you have a "bad feeling", due to nerves... now does the brain take this sudden rush of chemicals as a WARNING sign? or a psychosematic response???
"i'm gonna vomit, i know it"....
Voila.... you vomit!!!!
"I TOLD YOU i was gonna vomit!"
I doubt very much that instinct or intuition would be so petty as to inform you of what you already know!!! ESPECIALLY, as YOU stepped into the dang queue in the FIRST PLACE!!! LoL
different if you had a bad feeling, and your mobile phone falls out of your pocket... but then, isn't that common sense to move the phone? or at least read the signs!
:)
I don't think the point of a debate is to agree. However listening is important. Having a captive audience helps too.
I think "I knew it was going to happen" is a way for people to take glory, as well as for those who speculate, never say anything, or have more than one opinion on something. If anyone really knew it was going to happen and didn't say anything, i'd highly doubt they'd say it after.
I think true intuition takes place when you don't know any facts about either side. Although I have known one side, come to face a decision and take the opposite course of action because of an inexplicable feeling.
My latest "intuition" or gut feeling is having me move across the country to somewhere I've never been to find something that I don't have an inkling about, but it's such a strong drive/feeling/desire that I just have to do it, or I know I'll regret it.
my intuition has not failed me yet unless i have gone against it, which i have many of times. i feel it more in my gut, but sometimes my mind is stronger and takes over which i then always fail.
TRUST YOUR INTINCT
Hmm well i get a lot of feelings and stuff and I'm usually right about something. Like if somethings wrong Ill get this horrible feeling and i should prolly listen to it.. but I dont always
Human intuition is indeed a very mysterious and quite wonderful thing. I follow my intuition most of the time, and the times that I do not (usually to test), I find I would have been better off if I went with my "gut" instinct or intuition as one would call it. When I do test my intuition, (only on things that are not life or death obviously) I have come to a realization that almost every time my intuition has been right and has lead me to the right path.
I do not know what to think when it comes to intuition being of the mind or body. I think that it is probably more of the mind. There are ways in which humans communicate with each other and it is with this sixth sense that many people I believe have not grown attuned to yet. The more in tune to this metaphysical sense that you become, the more you will learn. I think that this is where meditation becomes closely intertwined.
I believe that intuition is intrinsicly connected to the survival reflex.
I don't know where it comes from, but I DO know that anytime I've ever chosen to ignore any sort of intuitive feelings, I most certainly regretted doing so!
minx and lunarwolf
You don't know me and may dislike me for my interference. But, as an active participant in the forum area I want to have my say.
You are both spectacular people and I do not know the circumstances of your lives...but you put it on the forum so I feel that I have a right to answer.
Intuition often comes into play when love or any strong emotion is involved. I ignored the intuitive feelings about my guy and I am where you two are right now. You are never going to see the same situation in the same way. There are too many feelings in the mix.
Please stop hurting each other. Admit to each other that you were wrong. Admit that you love or loved each other. Admit that it got all screwed up. Admit that it is over. Now, move on. Nothing good comes from continuing to hurt each other this way.
Respect the boundaries you have between you and do not cross them. Respect the feeling you once had for each other and do not cross it. Respect the forum for what it is...an area where you can express yourself freely without attack.
May the Goddess bless you both and guide your inner voice to serenity.
Thank you VERY much Trivia!!
HOPEFULLY lessons will be learned here!
Thank you Stabb, Point taken.
Intuition is indeed a powerful tool.
