I recently went to a meeting with my fellow occult friends. We did some pretty neat things, but one thing that stuck out to me was ghost writing. If you have no clue what this is it is when a person goes into a sort of trance and then starts writing. This is all done with the eyes closed and the mind open. It was a fantastic reading and the letter for me totally tripped me out. There were things in it that no one knows about me in that circle.
Has anyone tried this and how much faith do you put into it?
i ve tryed but nothing happen iknow its nothing to really mess around in but my grandma told me i could do that cuz of what im learning from her but i think its very interesting
Um . . . Ghost Writing is what someone with a good story (but no writing talent) pays an author to do. Write for them.
xArjunax is right, it is called automatic writing. I associated it with ghost writing because of the spector that talked to me through the writing. It was a ghost, or so it said it was. My bad...
Small digression....
Y'see, THAT's what i love about MOST people on here... Constructive criticism is NOT confronted with fighting talk, and you (we) are more than willing to step down when we find ourselves to be wrong about something factual (as opposed to opinion), REGARDLESS of the other party's rank / experiece / age etc.
Thank You TitanGoddess, PoesRaven and Arjuna for restoring my faith in people here! :)
My opinion, though? I have not had enough experience in it. I saw it once in real life, but was not overly convinced, althought the ambience WAS all wrong. I also saw it on *THAT* tv show, but i find too much of that hard to believe!
:)
Thanks for the compliments Lunar Wolf.
Also thanks for the edit. I had no clue that term was used for writers.
Poesraven, well done dear.
Getting back to the writing, does the source need to be included in your life? The person that did mine was new to the group. Never meet me before and wrote amazingly accurately. The ghost that was writing in their stead was a child, family member that died at 5 months old of SIDS.. it was the most spiritual moment of my life. The name that signed it was also spelled correctly. His name was Calebe.. with an E.. that is how they signed it.
I have had this done before and it was close, but not exact. Playing with sprits is dangerous.
I used to do it when I was a teenager. But the last time I got freaked out by a bad spirit. And I have not done it since. Maybe I'll try it again. It is very interesting to say the least.
I thought it was called automatic writing and people who get uncredited others to do their work for them have ghost writers but anyway...I have always liked the concept and imagine the sensation to be similar to Ouija boards?
Yes, this is automatic writing... I am a ghost writer for my husband's novel- he is not a writer, I am. So I am writing the story with his ideas. He gets the credit as 'writer'. This is not paranormal.
Back to automatic writing- my mother claims to have done this, but she is a shady so-called psychic. I have never believed her as she is a compulsive liar. Yeah too much info.
WOW. . . interesting replies, most importantly the last two.
Indigo Bizarre
I have to ask, why would you write for someone else? I am not knocking you at all but I am interested indeed to know the reasoning, if you are willing to share.
It's common. Most people who 'write' their autobiographies are actually not the REAL writer... they are dictating their thoughts to a writer who then WRITES the story.
My husband has a great idea for a story- but he just doesn't like to write. He has all the details and direction for it though. I would be writing it, but it wouldn't be my story.
I have had automatic writing done for me before and have found it to be reliable.
Wow Titan what an awesome experience for you. I haven't experienced automatic writing myself and would like to. I think it is definately one of those things that should be taken with the 'proverbial grain of salt' there are genuine psychics out there that do communicate with the dead and the sham artists that run people around in circles. Thanks to the net people have more opportunity to find out information about us and use leading questions to get information out of us too... so you do have to be careful.
But Titan glad you had a great experience!
It bothered me for a little while but I quickly got over it when I thought, how cool that was. I didn't have a bad experience, freaky, but not bad. I don't know if I would want to do that myself even though I have thought of it. These people in this group all had something they did well. I was the odd one out that time even though I got all the professions right... :)
I have tried this many times. I have come up with nothing but scribble. I do not doubt that it is possible, but I would like to see it in perosn, first.
I believe in Ghost writing I once had that experience along time ago, I became in a trance and started writting, I wrote ahole hystory on the house i once had and i checked into it and there it was all real
In a trance I think it could happen just as easily as speaking in tongues.
would you liken automatic writing to using a ouija or other talking board? i've used those before and have had quite some experiences but i haven't tried the writing. thanks for bringing it up, it's given me some ideas
don't know what its like in america, but in england it is hard to into print - well hard to get onto bookstands anyway - unless you are famous. lots of famous celebrities cant write - but their names will sell. most writers like to write, and they like food on the table - personal fame comes a poor third on the list. a ghost gets pretty well paid, and they get their work read - albeit under someone elses name. a few writers actually prefer the anonymity. a true writer does it because they love to write - not because they want to be famous.
btw - sometimes when i am writing, i just type away and the story, or artical just seems to write itself, and i have no idea where it has come from. is this the same as automatic writing?
Automatic writing...something that always gave me the creeps. I have certainly attempted it, and I believe the spirit's name was Mary, though this was about four years ago so it's only vague. At any rate, I think the outcome depends on your self-control. Many people I know subconsciously write something from themselves, rather than a spirit. It's sort of like when someone is moving your arm and you're using your muscles to move it without realising it. Complicated.
yea im pretty sure its called Automatic Writing also, and i think that it could be possible i mean if an entity could take over your body then it could take over your hand... and im pretty sure a ghostwriter is a person who writes a book for another person without takeing the credit for it...
My Very good friend who is Pagan is very much in to Automatic writing.. He did this and on one occasion he was regressing back to one of his past lives.. and wrote abuot it.
It was in fluent Latin.. yet he is English!! GET. THAT!!
This guy just amazes me..
I'd like to give it a try.. but as with astral-travel I get concerned about letting my sub-conscious GO.
My over all confidence is still mashed, although I am sure in a little more time, I'll be able to do it..
This is a marvellous thread and really interesting
Yes I have seen automatic writing done , very cool stuff . Unfortunately my automatic writing skills are very weak . My strengths are in telepathy / empathy .
Never seen or experienced this...however I do believe it is very possible. Especially in getting movement out of something as simple as an ouja board...ghost writing is just another form for them to communicate
Wow, I do this often, but not on purpose. I had no idea it was something practiced. I attributed it to more of a subconcious level of my artistic ablity, for it usually happens after a bad writers block.
I have heard of this and read about it, very intriqued, but a little nervous to try it. I am not sure why because I have a couple of times used ouija boards. I think I will read up on it and see if it's something I feel comfortable doing.
But it's wonderful that you had a good experience with it, and that is the main thing, if it felt right to you, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.
I have heard about "ghost writing" or automatic writing but I have yet to witness anyone actually doing it. It would be interesting to have a first hand experience with someone who could do it.
yes, I had this done along time ago and it was alittle un-nerving . I feel it can be dangerous to call on some spirits so I choose not to do it much, not to mention my mom about beat my ass LOL!! she was full blooded indian...
I did something like it. it was more of a free write. closed eyes adn writing whatever comes out. but it wasnt spiritual at all. tho i bet that would be freeing.
i have seen that done before. i dont really know what to think about it seeing as though the person was haveing a dream when it occurred
I have done this myself many times, and some call it ghost writing, some call it spirit writing, some call it channelling and some call it automatic writing. However, this can also be used to create drawings aswell. I wonder how many of you have actually performed automatic drawing (much the same concept, but you allow the spirit to draw instead of write).
M
it is called automatic writting, and i have heared that it can be quite a weired exsperience
can you have automatic typing too? sometimes i just type away so fast without even thinking about what i'm typing, and i come up with really good stories and stuff. is that the same as automatic writing, or am i just shit hot?
karnstein maybe try sitting somewhere quiet when your all alone light some insence and a couiple candles relax get a clear mind try to not focus on nything in general. after 10 or 15 min. just start typeing type for atleast 45 min
I have only seen it done once, and it was by my aunt. She went into a trance like state and wrote about a page and a half with each hand at the same time. My mom came in though and it freaked her out that her sister was showing it to me. Was the last and only time I have ever experianced it and I was fairly young at the time. I was not allowed to read what was written but my mother did and she turned pale white and immediatly burned the papers. To this day I wonder what was written and even though its been about 15 years ago my mother still turns off color when I mention it and refuses to say anything about what was written.
ghost writting is where a person goes into a trance and starts to write or draw out things that the ghost or spirit that is speaking to them says.
I was a medium for a Paranormal group, in Texas. I tried Automatic writing on many occations, and all I got were circles. I would be quite interested in seeing this done, in person. I would, of course, have to view it with a bit of skepticism.
I have seen this afore and have practiced some myself..as I believe some of my poetry is not my own. My eyes are not closed however and its more like a waking dream for me.I just relax and it flows out if the energy is right.
One of my most favorets
i mostly use it for meditation purposes
but also for answers
sometimes it doesnt work if u rnt exactly open to what is going on
or they just rnt into what u r asking
automatic writing...yes ive done it...ive done it three times, each time it fortold death in a particular manner and all three times it took place within a week. i think i officially creeped myself out with that ability...i think ill stick to empathic readings, tarot and projection for a while. lol
I find it really interesting but I'm way too creeped out to try it. Anything that makes me not in complete control of my body creeps me seriously.
I havn't done it myself personally. However I have had someone close to me do it and it's a pretty fasinating experience. So I know what your talking about. When it was done it was almost as if I witnessed a miracle in my life.
I had it done a couple of times. My friend that I work with on occasion has done it, and has come close to writing things, but it did not wow me.~NFA
I used to dabble in it quite a bit..but I quit when I found out I was pregnant. Now that you bring it up though..I think I may start playing around with it again. It is way cool and can really freak others out. hehehe
Never did it before...but idk if this is the same thing or not but I heard if your a lefty then you have the abillity to have the dead I guess you could say " possess" but not quite the word but close anywho.....they "possess" your hand and they make you write what they wanna say....sounds cool to try but idk if I wanna find out what happens so I'm not gonna try to guinea pig myself...^.^
I experimented with this some years ago.
I got lots of descriptive essay type stuff.
Alot of flowerey language that I would not usually use myself.
Worth remembering that protection should be put in place first as you don't know who or what may come through.
I believe there are many ways for spirits to get into touch with us and ghost writing is definetly one of them.... I haven't tried it yet but I can't wait to at some point.....
it's happened to me in class once.
and then another time we did something similar. but for fun out teacher made us close our eyes and write down things. it was a lil hard, well b/c you dont know if you're writing straight or not. but it was real cool.
i always thought automatic hand writing to be quite interesting...i know you have to be able to be in tune with such spirits for that to happen i personally have never really gotten deep into it
I have seen it done. I'm sure it can be accurate with someone who has the talent, and is a medium of sorts. When I saw it done I wasn't very convinced. But I have read about it and do believe in it!
I have to agree with Jenn playing with spirits is dangerous but there is a time when it is nessary to do so.
I would caution anyone who does the ghost writing keep a gaurd up and never invite anything in even if it is a good or seems good
That caution goes with everything else.
U must be protected if u are not u are inviting an attack and u can and possibly will die if u are not
Anytime your mesing with things in a spirtual matter there is always possiblity of upsetting a type of balance.. Experience plays a large portion or level of natural ability.
I do it as a form of clearing my mind before writting a poem or an essay. I also use it if I had a whole lot of thoughts stuck in my head and I can't pick which to process first. Maybe I'm just weird like that though.
I haver never seen automatic writing being done by someone else. I think it would be interesting to watch someone's face rather than their hand when they were doing it
edgar cayce has several teaching about this subject.. check out the a.r.e. database :)
ah...automatic writing... I've seen it but since I'm not really willing to be skin ridden I am not keen on experiencing ti first hand. I have joked about that being a good cure for writer's block though. *lol*
this brings my attention to a curiosity...i am wondering can automatic writing become like how the ouija board can be in the fact that people get where thats all they want to do is connect with spirits and lose interest in everyday activites that are none spirit related if you have taken up automatic writing i would be interested in knowing did it ever turn into such an addiction
Blood Creep.. I think you have a good point. It is possible to become addicted to anything, but something like this more so. The more you learn they more you want to learn.
well...as far as i know you have to believe in ghost riding or whatever else you can think of so much and it will become real to you
whomever doest the ghost writing has to let their mind go so that the spirit can tansport itself into their body, but the thing is, is that that "host" or the writer, has to be in control of their body which they wright or it will not work as good as you want it to
I have not seen automatic writing done in person but how would a person know if the person that was writing, was writing supernaturally or if they were writing on ther own...
That is actually a great question about automatic writing. I still prefer to call it ghost writing.. but ok.. Anyways, on to the question. . . I don't think anyone knows but the person that is doing it. You can fake anything. But I have tried it a couple of times and wrote stuff I had no clue I was writing. You let your mind go and you can do it too. I don't know if it is writing by a ghost or something you control. Loads of variables.
I,d be careful letting ghost control you my sister.make sure theres a gurdian spirit to protect you.this post is great ,but be careful.
The people who fake automatic writing are the people who ruins it for the real people that do it, now i believe that people can do it, all i was saying is keep an open mind when someone tells you they can do automatic writing because it is really easy for someone to fake...
I've read the comments, and want to say, it's great to see this type of thing happening here at VR. Fantastic!! I've found myself not commenting on some that have gotten into "spats" during a thread. And will continue to do so. Wonderful topic. My compliments to all in here.
My Comment:
I feel that if that is a gift that someone has, then it is quite possible that it is a real thing. However, some, for whatever reason, could say that its happening, and just be writing themselves. The question that pops into My head is... How do you tell the difference??
Do scribbles and circles count..because that's all I got one time.
Wonder if their is ghost drawing, i mean their is ghost writing so their has to be ghost drawing, because some ghost if they are old enough may not know how to write...
Ghost writing, huh. I never tryed it, but it does sounds cool. It also sounds alittle strange because you really don't know who is in you when you do this.
A ghost or spirit being inside you when your ghost writing, that would be kind of a weird feeling plus not knowing who the person is...
I have seen it on tv, but with the way that holywood glamourizes everything - who knows if it was real or an act. It would be interesting to experience it first hand
I think it is a pretty interesting subject, but I really dont think I could ever manage to do it myself. I'm too intune with my own head when I'm awake. It's hard to not be conscience.
If people wants to learn how to ghost write their are tons of places online that teaches it, and i am sure it can be done in your house by yourself, and i really do not think it is dangerous...
i have tryed that be 4 but sadly it didnt work i guess that i didnt clear my mind all the way oh well but it is dangerous to mess with the spirets so i probably wont do it again
I have heard numerous people mention how "dangerous" it is to mess with spirts and yet not a single. . .
'I know someone that knew someone'
or
' I had this happen to me. . .'
So, exactly how is it dangerous? I have done it a few times with results lately as this topic was started a little while back. I have not have any bad experiences. I find automatic writing more like reaching out and grabbing bits and pieces of suspended information and life and just writing what I see or feel. I can't explain it any better than that. But if there is anyone that has had a possesion that went horribly wrong, please do let us know. I would love to hear about it and possibly ways to prevent it.
I agree with you 100% titangoddess! i do not think their is any danger in it, i personally could not see how their would be, i tried it nothing has happend, but i am going to keep trying to see if i can get it to work for me...
Its called automatic writing when ive seen it on tv and yes ive tried it, it felt so weird im righthanded so i had the pen in my left hand and my eyes closed i summoned the spirit of a friend who had passed on and asked her questions like Are you ok? and stuff like that and got perfect handwritten answers that werent in my writting. it felt like light pins and needles in my arm and i was twitching. and when i finished and she left the feeling when away.
yeah ive done it beofre b ut im not sure if my body just assumed it was real or what. but yeah, me and my friends have done it [ different times, not together . ] but i never knew it even had a name, i just did it a few times lol a while back
I've heard about it but never actually seen it done. I think it might unnerve me a little bit.
This tactic is also used to tap into your subconsciousness.
that could be an interesting experience... getting into my subconcious.
I've never done this. I've never tried so I'm not sure if I can. I have heard of this and it does interest me a little. I'm not sure what use I'd have for it though.
I used to do it when I was a teenager. But the last time I got freaked out by a bad spirit. And I have not done it since. Maybe I'll try it again. It is very interesting to say the least.
I have been watching a lot of videos about automatic writing and i do not believe what they are doing, i believe in automatic writing but i would have to be their to see it...
I have not had enough experience in it. I saw it once in real life, but was not overly convinced, althought the ambience WAS all wrong.
I've never tried it. It seems awesome ^^.
My sisters friend and her have tried.. but got nothing XD
I have been trying automatic writing but i am not getting anywhere with it seems to me i do not have the gift for it...
I've tried it a couple of times, and gotten illegible scrawls. The last time I did it was when I was about 17. I should try it again now, my mind is so much more open nowadays.
sounds interesting to try. We have never done this before in my group but i will bring it up to my high priestest
I don't know anything about Automatic Writing, save that it happens, but I would be very interested to hear of your experience.
