It's very easy to get "lost in the moment" at times. Control is something that takes practice.

losing yourself happens sometimes when something is built in the inside so much soo that one event ot two events may happen and be that one finally trigger that pulled that gun if you understand what I mean by that. I think there are times that this happens and people need to learn not to built and store so on the inside or esle bad things are bound to happen sooner or later.

Though I will say I have never been lost in any of the ways you posted there.

Theres other ways to lose your self. Losing yourself to depression, love problems, ect... Also iot into this.

But the main thing still applies. It takes practice to get out of it and control yourself. Just some are harder to control then others (they go too deep emotionally).

I have lost myself before, and I really see nothing wrong with it, depending on the situation. But I guess to control yourself you just have be aware of everything when you are in a situation where you may lose control.

I think it would have to do with self discipline since that is what control has to deal with. It takes time to develop but it would be worth it in the end, especially in some situation where one puts another person or theirself at risk.

Magick, blood, and all forms of energy can be quite the powerful experience for the user. The mortals who walk this plane of existence know only of their drugs and alcohol, few know what truly is an amazing feeling.

I myself find it rather enlightening to take in energy and practice ritual. But, I can see how one could lose themselves. It is all about self-control really.

Self-control is a good thing to have although I have to admit I have howled at the moon and ran naked during the fullmoon. It was quite refreshing.

I think its important to retain control in all circumstances. Some find release in losing control. They run on their high emotions and it releases a rush that they require.

However, it's important to recognize the vampire's ability to go "berserk" where they can cause harm to another, even if unintentionally.

I guess one could lose themselves in the process, but in order to be a strong individual I think one must know when to take control of a situation in order for it not to take control of you.

I used to cut myself and when it started getting worse I got so scared of what was happening that I made myself stop. It was really hard to do and I did relapse some, but I'm better than I was then.

With drinking blood I don't so much as loose control as I feel the control shift. Their's still control but it just has different morals, if you will, than I do. lol I don't mind it.

Self control is one of the hardest things anyone has to master, vampire or otherwise.

There is no right way to do it, different things work for different people, however if you think that you don't have self control you should try and avoid (as much as you can) situations where you are likely to be tempted to break yours.

That said everyone has limits!

I dout I could ever "lose" myself. I can't be hypnotized either... a few have tried already and it doesn't work on me, so it seems. It is amusing to see when others are hypnotized though. I am always in control of what I do, unless under the influence of cold-medicine (and then I just sleep). lol

I have never had a circumstance where I have lost full control of myself. Discipline is key. I grew up in a very structured environment, and was a part of a youth organization where I had to be a leader. One can not be weak and easily led astray when you have others counting on you. However, self-control does indeed take time to develop.

A lot of people lose control. Even the ones that think they are always in control. Human nature will always dictate that. However, it is something controllable. It takes lots of practice and understanding. As a donor, we appreciate it when others have that control. It makes us feel safe.

If you notice, most people are leaving you generalised comments here- this is because losing control is a personal thing that nrmally people do not want to talk about, so i don't mean to rain on your parade but I do not think you will get many answers that you are looking for.

Control is something that has to be mastered. It's like riding a bike. You start off scared and uncertain. Then the more you do it the less careful you tend to be until one day you find you have lost control. Control comes from a strong sense of will power.

Well, I have not yet been lucky enough to feed, but I have been in the situation where someone has accidentally cut themselves and I did not go crazy and grab them up to lick the blood off their finger... I however, saw Faces Of Death When I was very young and there was a big segment about what the full moon caused people to do. Complete with a man jumping from a very tall building and , smack, right into the pavement. Now I have a complex that makes me think that the full moon can screw with a weaker person's mind. But that could be just a childhood fear brought on by a gruesome movie.

I have never fed off of anyone, tho the idea taunts me every day. however, i can understand the idea of losing control. and like with anything, control is gained through practice and patience. I lose control in other aspects, anger, sexually, etc. i imaging training ur mind is important in instances when feeding like it is important in other every day tasks.

The adrenalin Rush is overtaking I know when it comes to u your heart beats fast and u feel as though your flying and when you feel that it is simply bearth taking (Justtaling about it makes me want to indulge mmmmm) but the way that i control myself is feeding often that way I don't need so much I try to feed as often as possible so that my doners and potential donners aren't scared away, anamalistic behaviours are hard to control u just have to keep focus at the task and know that this is for a boost and not to kill.

I think its a combination of self control and training. To many of us fail to seek council with our elders. We foget that they once were in our shoes. I was trained as a Mental Vampire. In my order, you learn to feel your limit and to discontinue feeding, before your unable to stop.

I guess it all depends on how strong you are mentally.
There are people who never lose control and I envy them in a way, but everyone has weaknesses. Sadly, I do too. As everyone has said before me, it takes time to develop control over your actions and emotions.
On the other hand, it feels so good to lose control...does it not? :)

Control does take practice. Especially if you don't want to hurt your self or others. That's why I think until your an adult, many things should be left untried. As a teen the hormones can go off the scales and adrenline can kick in and control is no where to be found.

Self - control takes time, patience and the want to do so.

I do know some that can't control their urges or needs and it takes over. That is when trouble can happen. We as their friends try to help them as much as we can.

Of course, there are others out there that I don't understand at all.

i agree with most but there are times when you cant grab control no matter how hard you try..i had this problem a week before full moon peaked when i would lose control over the littlest things, some were due to fact of depression/bi polar but wasnt all..i met One who gives me strength in myself by His teachings and i am learning to control myself..so it is a matter of self control in a way..

The phases of the moon can indeed make people crazy. Every fight my dad and his girlfriend ever got in, was on a full moon. I remember about a year ago, my friends and I were walking around her neighborhood, very late at night. We began to get scared, for no reason. We ran back home, and we could hear stuff knocking on our windows, and things moving around outside. Turns out, it was a full moon, a red one too.
Strange.

i think its a mental thing more than anything, someone who goes nuts cause of the moon must of had a past experience concerning the moon, but the moon doesnt have its true powers to control the human mind but to sometimes heal the body to cleanse with its light such as a suns rays

i do understand where you are comming from though i will not understand fully cause i am not you lol but i think the best way to " control" it is when you feel that it is comming cause usually youll get this feeling , you pull your self off and then sit down for a while and when you feel that you are ok i guess you then can continue to what you are doing

through is the challange. Olny weak

Yes one needs to master oneself I used to love the thrill of fighting and I gained control through martial arts. I used to love smoking I gained control by convincing myself visually it was killing me.
Face your demons and control them …. As mentioned above meditation and will power is key to your situation.

Sometimes, it is just impossible to control yourself, as I have found, because I also, during feeding, have had to be held down and such until I was calm and had regained a sense of who I really am.

It is very easy to lose one's self I have noticed especially the younger and more naive the person is of their own powers. By powers I mean powers of their own self control. If one does not know how to control themselves in a given situation, then learning to control is what tends to happen and in learning comes experience and knowledge.

I used to have a hard time controlling my self with certain things, but I have been able to overcome (most of the time) the feeling.

Most of the control comes from a sense of will power that one must have in order to gain it. If one has the knowledge to take control of ones self, but not the will, then their is no chance of gaining that control until the will has been shown.

The realization of consequences which become reality through ones actions may give one the will to control their urges..

Yes it is a very real danger when blood feeding to deeply and giving into that side of the nature.

It also comes when channeling raw energy, one can lose themselves very easily. As has been stated before. You have to find a way to ground out the individual before they become any more of a danger.

I think in terms of "losing yourself" it is just a cause of weakness. To have control of yourself and your emotions is to have strength. if you cannot control your impulses and behavior, you are weak minded and they control you.
it is not necassarily something to be proud of, and should not happen in the wrong situations.

I mean if i person can not control themselves when they are drinking another persons blood, then i do not think they should be drinking blood in the first place, because they may be mental cases...

Well... I think I am the only one here who has never been to a "feeding party"
but as I put in my profile.. I used to be on blood thinners and for my amusement I could suck blood out of my skin... it was disgusting.. It didnt taste like blood you lick from a cut... it tasted like the chemicals needed to thin my blood. So I'd spit it out and do it again... only because it was cool (I have to admit).

Losing yourself in any emotion which may cause hurt to yourself or others is unwise to say the least.

I wonder what other 'vices' were on hand at this party ?

Mass hysteria could also play a part.

Having control over yourself is one of the most important things that you need to have in order to be able to survive by not making silly choices/mistakes. Yes it does happen to us all from time to time, but when it comes to losing yourself during something that can be dangerous. . . . that's not very good at all.

Moreover, gaining that control is something that almost everyone has to work at. And id does take practice. But if the will is strong. . . . anything can be accomplished with a bit of patience.

I have lost myself to anger. I never had time to learn control because i was always abused and made angry. I did hurt some pple and then i was sent away. I then became calm enough and learned to control myself. I usuallly talk myself out of it before i get too upset.

In my opinion, if you don't have control over your emotions while you are feeding, and feel like there is a chance that you will lose yourself, then it is best not to do anything. You must learn to control your emotions to use your powers properly

True. But control is what seperates use from being the monsters (as seen on tv) we're preceived to be, and the developed culture we have become.
