Can one truly die then come back without the help of technology?

Let me tell you my beliefs. I believe death is a failure of ones will. One doesn't die unless he gives up or all parts of him are removed from existence and there is nothing to fight back with. These are the simple beliefs I have though...

What are you thoughts on this?

BTW, nothing you can say will change my beliefs about this, I'm just curious as to your thoughts.

For every beginning there must be an end...that is the way of the world.
You are not an immortal....
You are saying that whether it be a soldier fighting for his life in a futile war or a 90 year old man, sitting peacefully.....that death means that you are weak. Is that what you mean?
never the less......Any disembodied spirit.....in this universe would gladly change places with you....did they want to die?
Of course not. Death is not something you choose. If you are stabbed twenty times in the head....could you stay alive through will alone.....sadly not. Especially if you were decapitated afterwards.

We all want to believe we can cheat death.
What we should do is make the best of life and enjoy what time we have.

How do you explain Death through old age then?

And congenital Abnormalities are not about ones will. A friend of mine died this year because of his congenital abnormality. He was FIT.
It is also possible to die at the hands of another. (Murder)

as much as we all want to have pure immortality it is hard to believe we can..the only thing i feel is everlasting is the spirit we have and the memories that we make but even in time they fade away.

There is no way to beat death, unlike the movie Final destination claims, we are born to live and live to die. that is the truth.

I was pronounced clinically dead after I was hit by a drunk driver. Going 50 mph threw a cross walk. I was dead for 5 mins 6mins your brain begins to loose oxygen and if you survive you may came back with brain damage.
And I was brought back with modern technology the fibula tor man dose that hurt. Any ways I do not think i cheated death by any means just was not my time to go. I believe if you come back your not cheating death your on borrowed time and you have unfinished business how ever sometimes the body is too damaged to return to thus earth bound spirits. My thoughts no one cheats death when its time to go its time.

Well... death is the one thing in life that is inevitable. There is no way around it, you're going to die someday whether you like it or not. You're body will rot with or without your consent.

I think you can. My mom and i got into a car accident when i was 8 or 9 months old. she went into acoma and they took her off life support. shortly after her heart stopped she came back. Its weird and very interesting but its true. she told me that she saw her poppy (grandfather) and he told her to go back because she had 'kids' to take care of. and at the time the kids was only me. not me and my sister. :)

i beleive it is possible

I strongly disagree...

People get put into near-death situations every day. Just because they don't die doesn't mean they've cheated death. I don't mean to burst any bubbles, buts thats how I see it.

Eventually, your flesh is going to go. That's all there is to it. The human body is not and will never be perfect. Spirits, souls, etc., that's a different story. No one really knows about that. But sooner or later death will catch up to you, whether you believe in it or not.

I have always believed that the only way to beat death..short term of course..is to live. I have seen too many people lose loved ones and then just give up on life themselves. To beat death forever would seem to be impossible. In the end only our souls survive. But for me, I think that is enough.

You're referring to someone being able to 'overpower' death...to beat it through sheer force of will. Perhaps dying and then through willpower alone, coming back to revive your body.

I would say that since no one has yet to accomplish this task and then tell everyone else about it, the odds are not in favor of that theory. However, near death experiences are sometimes attributed to someone saying that they just knew it wasn't their time and returning. Doesn't have quite the romantic notions of fighting death or battling against the light and literally forcing life back upon yourself.

As a matter of trivia, there was an old movie called Psychomania - (1972). The Damned did a great song about it. Wasn't terribly well acted or produced but the theme of the movie was just that. A biker gang learns the secret of eternal life...die knowing that you can come back - and you will. The ones that survive trying then terrorize the community as immortal bikers until being turned to stone by magic in the shape of a rather sad looking Stonehenge type monument.

I wouldn't go so far as to say "Death is the failure of one person's will". Death can come for any one of us at any point and time. Most of us don't have a choice in the matter, it just happens.

I personally think that you have been watching too much of the Hollywood fantacies about vampires being immortal, You really shouldn't believe in all that they show. I do however believe that the soul is immortal and that at some time or another we all will experience this. i know personally i have.

We are born just to live to die. I just hope that everyone uses it wisely. To die comes in many forms, so to think that it is about will only I feel is to be untrue.

People fight to live life, maybe due to fear of death, yet it cannot be beat. The soul or spirit may live on yet the body will expire. Just the was it is.

There has been several discussions I have had the pleasure of being involved with, in regards to this topic, as a result the following was determined.

Should the body die, by means other then old age, but even then depending on the complication that has arisen, the focused recalling of all the disciplines of VTM should in theory recall the body from the shock, because in that moment the brain cells become realigned, by stagnating, or by rewiring themselves.

Should the soul inhabiting a vessel desire it the means for incarnating by the three versions of forced incarnation as best described by Carroll as the White Rite, Red Rite, and Black Rite, are all viable means of incarnation.

There is also some interesting concepts about taking into the flesh the infernal energies of Ahriaman, and becomeing a spiritual demon, that goes and incarnates at will on this plane in accordance with the needs in different regions.

As well as some less convential means such as photographic transferences much like stories such as The Picture of Dorian Grey, as well as severing off aspects of your soul, as found in the Harry Potter books, these do work as viable means for a form of survival.

There is also a theory I have developed on the matter, where one takes a book they have written of all the spells they would pass on, they then bless the book to be a vessel for the spiritual power, and then blesses a ritual tool that accompanies it, such as a simple ring, that containes the soul after the death of the mage, It then can be recalled when either some one of the same blood line, or someone who has come by both, read the inscriptions within the book, and the soul and power of the mage comes and possess the flesh of the one who wears the ring. This possession holds till the death of the mage where the soul goes back into the necklace, or into the book depending if the book is cast with stones into the binding and made of sacred metals. As for specifics, create your own. I will go no further.

I believe it is possible to beat death with nothing but your will to live. Jesus Christ supposedly (I am not Christian) died on the cross, but still had never given up his will to live. Three days later he was walking, talking, and breathing again like nothing had happened. But something did happen. Something big: He beat death. So yes, with that example in mind, it is possible to beat death without modern technology just by your will to live.

There also comes to point, that if you have beaten death would you want to tell anyone? Would you want to be cut to pieces as an experiment, or be destroyed because people inherently fear it. If somthing has tethered your soul to this world for longer then an alloted time then you have to be content with the fact you are here. SO live. Live life like it doesn't matter you can die or not. Do what you want and do what you seek. The methods may work they may not. But to entertain such notions you must be comfortable with yourself, in all of the ways alive. It would be torture and it would be hell to not die when it is your time,

Then its not beating death is it ..for the above.

Decay, rot, just plain non existence in corporeal form happens to us all.

Death is inevitable, but the spirit, it is eternal. In the words, in our actions and impacts.

There are few SURE things in this world, but death is certainly one of them. Regardless of strength of will, in a grave situation, if your number's up....well, all the will in the world doesn't mean a damn thing. Will doesn't shove the blood back into your veins or correct that perforated aorta. It doesn't repair aneurysms. It doesn't reattach severed heads or meld a slaughtered body back together. There's a reason those particular kinds of traumatic injuries are called "mortal injuries".

HOWEVER, I will say that in those questionable health situations, the power of positive thinking and will to live are important. It's a psychological thing. It HELPS. It won't, alone, save your ass. ;o)

I almost died 3 times in my life...

1.the day I was born...was turned wrong
2.when I was 18 months old...burned with hot water 3rd degree burns on my head, face and hand.
3.when I was 11..I had double pneumonia...strep throat blocked sinuses and 103 degree body temp...almost died twice that night.

So I know something about death

When your times is up it is up. yes people do postpone their dirt naps, but it will come. I personally postponed it a few times, but all it has done for me is suppressed my fear of dying. the only thing i fear now is my wife with a knife after she dreamt i cheated on her.

The physical body grows and dies... that cannot be avoided (actually, it can be, in a certain manner, if you agree to be frozen before your time and hopeing that someday technology will help you at least be defrost without being killed)... the soul, well, that is a different matter that, I believe, depends of everyone's belief and opinions on afterlife.

Your soul will never die, but its the body that gives up...The body comes to a certain stage that its use is no longer need...so it dies & your soul is released to move on to another body..but personally i believe the soul can beat death (i mean thats why we have past lives & sometimes remember them) but the body can not...unless your immortal!!

AH I love it. I loved all the responses. This is going to be the last post on here aside from Adim or The Prince closing it.

So as a few closing thoughts, those of you who said old age takes you away... well HOW do you know that they didn't give up? How do you know that you wont give up? That their will was finally lost? Are you old and wrinkly, on your death bed and giving up, I think not. To those of you that have died and came back or escaped Death's cold claw I applaud you and thank you for staying strong.

All of you, your beautiful. Admin can you close this thread for me please?

The 'cause' of death on the certificate indicates HOW one died. Old people get worn out.. Even animals get worn out and die. You'd think that people wouldn't want to die, because they will be leaving their families. If will was possible, I'd not die, because I'd miss my children.

With re-incarnation. ONE lives WITHOUT the Will.. It is autonomic!

What about the people that are murdered and lose all that blood???

I am going to die one day. I can't stop it.
You will die when it is your time, you cannot stop it.

Physical death will always happen but your spirit never dies so your body can not cheat death

Everyone will die eventually regardless if you have the will to live on or not, once your body shuts down, it shuts down. How ever I do believe that if your will to stay here is strong enough, then you will not move on after death.

All things that live eventually will die. There is nothing that can be done to stop it. I believe immortality can be achieved, though not in the way you are thinking. Imortality can be achieved through memories.

I think Marilyn Monroe will be remembered forever, as will Hitler, Dracula, and Jesus Christ, among others. Because I doubt they will ever be forgotten, I believe that they have achieved immortality.

As for me, I plan on living forever. So far, so good.
