Some people think ghosts haunt objects and people, but can ghosts also haunt animals/pets? If so, can you detect it? Would they act differently in some way..and how?

ghosts haunt cause they want attention and I don't see animals providing them with the type of attention that they want. Besides, most animals can't talk, save for parrots, so we would have no way of knowing if they were haunted. However if there is a ghost in an area, animals will often refuse to enter the area.

many saouls haunt in order to be close to the warmth of life, to these souls, haunting an animal or a pet would be no diffirent than haunting a human

I don't see why they would hunt an animal, since they don't really do anything worth while. And i know most animals act different when there is a spirt around. Like cat's hiss or some sort of another thing.

Haunting basically means "to visit", so I think that yes a ghost could haunt an animal. I think it would be difficult to detect but animals do seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to ghosts and the like.

I think that they may act differently because, isn't true that dogs can detect storms or that something's not right in the house?

So shouldn't they be able to detect a spirit in the household or somewhere near? Just my thought...

I believe pets can be spooked out, and that they can see what we cannot. In the same way animals can hear far beyond the human decibel range. Wierd but personally I think animals have the edge into the looking glass of the supernatural :)

i think that animals can be haunted. after my great grandpa died, my sister used to see his ghost all the time and when ever her cat was with her, it would sit and stare at one spot. the odd time it looked like the cat was licking the air, so yes i think it is possible for an animal to be haunted.

There is a little difference between seeing ghosts and being haunted by them. This topic is on hauntings.

animals have a very strong sence. They seem to know when things are wrong or depending harm etc. It has been known that animals tend to go crazy when around houses/places that are haunted. So I guess they could be haunted just as much as anyone or anything.

I dont think the haunting of animals would be possible only because they couldn't achive the attention there looking for, and if the turned mean to get the attention they would be gotten rid of.

haunting = possessed

usually a haunting occurs when the person themselves are at a weak or dark pint in there life. A spirit cannot possess someone if they are unwilling.

Animals on the other hand, that is a good question.

I think though if an animal did become possessed, you would know it by their behavior.

Now I think of Pet Cemetary.

also, there was a story in the bible...

Where there was a wild man, who was possessed by many spirits.

I am going to go short form here.

Jesus was talking to said spirits and wanted to cast these spirits out, but they wanted to be in a body. So they chose to inhabit swine.

The swine went crazy and jumped from a cliff.

so i think if an animal or pet were to become possessed, they probably would go crazy. I do not think that an animals mind or body is meant for a human spirit.

Yeah I am sure ghosts can and are haunting smaller animals, since smaller animals are weaker, I bet ghosts are having more fun over them.

If your cat or a dog, or a parrot, suffers from some medical problem, or stress, and wich there is no reason to be there, than you might try giving it some positive energie, that might relieve the medical problem, and make the ghost be banished thanks to the pure positivity of the vibrations.

We all know that pets are reciving enormous amount of positivitie when their owners are expressing their love toward them, and thats it when they are petting them, or providing anything that the animal might need.

Protect the animals beacuse they are our companions.

I see it as the domesticated animal you have chasing after the invisible something or another, does not mean said animal is mental by any means.

This may be a spirit within the room the animal sees, if it bothers the animal or not, the animal would see it anywho and either stare at it or chase it. Same thing goes with children.

i do not believe in ghosts but if i did i would think that they could aslo "haunt" animals.
i would think you could detect them acting differently.
maybe changing their habits like eating.
but i would think that they could be haunted in a good way as well.

I don’t think that animals could be haunted as we humans are. I think that animals are more in tuned with their surroundings than we are. If there are spirits animals may detect them better or differently than we do. I think to be haunted would be to be scared of something. I think that humans are “haunted” by stuff that we don’t know or understand. I would think that even if an animal could feel or detect spirits better than us that they would just respond by instinct. I don’t think that an animal could be haunted in the same way that some people are.

I don't believe that anything or anyone can be possessed or haunted. I've never felt anything take over my body, nor have I witnessed any animals either. I have heard of one ram going crazy in Australia and murdering other sheep, but that's because of a mental disorder, not a possessing.

Then again, my agnostic part of me tells me to keep an open mind and allow for the possibility. So I am waiting to be possessed, if any spirit wishes to educate me on this... hello, any ghosts up for possessing me? I am waiting.

Repling to Gaius's comment -- I think to be haunted would be to be scared of something. I think that humans are “haunted” by stuff that we don’t know or understand.

Some people aren't afraid of ghosts at all. We also know that we may be haunted be spirits from the other world. In light of that, I must disgaree with that statement.

I think animals are more intune to things, storms ghosts, etc. but for a poltrigist to haunt an animal i think not. what good would this due them. for ghosts or spirits want attention or even believe they are not dead. thats why many ghosts roam the same building they passed in or the area.

xXMelXx you are incorrect on two points. One haunting and possession are not the same thing. Two the man was possessed with demons.

I could see a few cases where someone might haunt an animal. If someone had a beloved pet in life and that pet was still alive they might want to still be close to it. Another might be that if a person loathed animals in life they might try to torment them as a ghost or spirit.

Hm.. I dont think its likely that your hamster is being haunted but maybe it can detect a "ghost" shall I say, around them. Usually, if they're roaming free they'll avoid the area that is haunted. But if they're caged in, they'll probably freak out. They've got no way of communicating with the being, like we do.

Haha, hamster! Love it.

Our pets have acted weird before and I know there were spirits around. You could tell they were reacting to something we could not see. Animals are more sensitive to that stuff than we are, so they know when there's something around. Hell, they can even smell disease.

I guess the weasel had rabbies. That is so common for those animals to have, probably that was the cause to the unordinary apperance/demenor of the weasel?

Certanly, everything with rabbies looks like it is posessed.
