Personally I don't buy into any of the last days ideas.

These things happen and have happened for a very long time.

Maybe what we consider to be chaos and disaster is merely the earths way of telling us that we have just about sucked its will to live, stripped it from all its goodness and now it needs to replenish itself like it did a long time ago with the ice age. Its cyclical and just like life itself, from the moment we are born technically we are gradually dying.

The earth will survive long past us and just because we are having wars, famines, droughts, and floods-it doesn't mean that the earth as whole is in its final days.

We might have crossed a threshold where energy as we traditionally understand is depleting. We will just have to check our SUVs, Chinese imported food, and our modern way of life at the door. Global warming and the energy crisis present very real threats for humanity but the solution or the corrective measures to deal with it will all be localized food production and living as humans did prior to the industrial revolution.

So basically, our way of life will end as we know it...the planet will still be here, but we will adapt to the changes and live more simply.

The Earth has gone through many changes in her time. She will out live all of us. She knows what to do in order for her to survive. It is up to us to figure out we will continue to survive.

I am not buying into this is the end of time, the world and mankind as we know it bit. People read to much into stuff. (ie. The Church, Nostrdomas (sp) and such.) People will however believe what they want to.

Great idea for a topic, because I have a theory.

I don't really think that the earth is any more or less active in creating our catastrophes. Instead, what has happened is the mankind has populated so much more of the earth with more people, that when an event occurs, the likelyhood of damage and death is increased.

and the last time this accorded the world went into another form of chaos and destruction.

That is actually a very good theory Thedog. Mankind taking over more and more of the earth. I think also that these things have always been here and throughout history there has been huge catastrophies like the ones we are experiencing in modern day life, the world is just more enlightened.

I do not buy into the whole idea of The last days, armageddon, Ragnarok or whatever people choose to call it.

The 2012 concept is intriguing, very similar hype build up that we had going into the year 2000.

I feel that there will eventually be a blowout of humankind, either climate change, asteroid, massive war, etc. Whether we survive the onslaught and continue to exist is a great speculation for a fiction novel.

As to predicting an exact time period as to when it will occur, many have tried, and many have been proven wrong. The good news is that if people continue to make predictions, sooner or later, someone will get it right.

Kind of like rolling dice. Each time you roll, you guess for snake eyes. Sooner or later, you will get them...but that is not quite how true predictions work, right?

I am very afraid by this topic. But it is a big discussion at my house. I would hope that there are alternative explainations. I do however think we are reaching our final days.

i don't believe in the last days, but i don't completely not believe in it. too many cultures have theories on it for them to be no merit to it. btw, if you're interested in this sort of thing and want to look into it in more depth you could look at the Ancient Mayan prediction that the end of days is December 21st, 2010. Very interesting stuff.

I believe that it was never said that we would cease to exist anyway. It was simply the beginning of a new age for humanity. I could be wrong though.

if you believe in the last days then who would be the anti christ who would be the political leader to make the world follow him. when the world goes to hell the anti christ should rise trying to bring people over to evil if you think this is the end you should be watching what is going on to find who is the embodyment of evil.

Weather patters are shifting all over, but I do not see it as a sign of the end of the world

Mankind has been killing itself from the very beginning, as far back as recorded history and beyond.

Because of that, I don't think things are more violent or any worse than they have ever been. Any location, any time period, you would always find someone killing, beating, or torturing someone else.

Religious and ecological "predictions" have just made people more aware of the very activities that have been occuring around the world in one form or another for scores of centuries.

My thought is just wait and see who knows with the bible but what is going on are the signs pointed out in the bible of the time of the end but I am thinking that the end could be anything even the end of things as we know it and the begining of something new, a new era.

I wish I could remember where I heard/learned this little piece, but supposedly the earth is reborn every so many ages. A great cataclismic event occurs and everything restarts. Supposely this is the 6th time the earth has been repopulated. I want to say it was a discovery/history channel show. It had to do with the polar shift theory though in which the poles get so heavy with ice that is suppose to cause the entire world to roll onto its side causing catastropic temperature changes and earth crust shifts that create earthquakes and volcanos galore. Other things have been theorized as well like astroids hitting earth. Hopefully with global warming, we wont have to deal with this type of event.

There has been one guy in our local paper that since the start of the year has told us when the world has end I think he is at the 4th guess and we are still going. Me personaly think when the time is up its up

I would also say that everytime an event occured, the people thought the end of the world was coming. Civilizations may end but the world continue. The Earth itself will one day end, consumed by the sun or frozen as the sun dies. Perhaps struck by a celestial body that destroys it.

Not sure that I believe that if it is the end of days it has anything to do with the bible. Seems to me these kinds of occurrences have happened before and will happen again. If you read the Revelations and what it states.. technically we should all be dust by now. So many of the seals have been broken and done. As far as the hoopla on the www being 666. uh hate to break it to you but i dont think that the book mentioned in the first post is meant to be taken literally. just an opinion, and secondly are you more worried about the earth because let me tell you something. the earth can withstand a lot and can recover us eventually. heck it will overcome a huge impact from comets and what have you. its just the feeble lifeforms on the planets that would likely parish. and if you look at the bigger picture, that would be the best possible scenario for the planet. hear me out. the things being done to Earth right now by our kind is comparable to what a deadly virus does to its victims. thats right our planet is our victim, if it could speak it would probly say "good riddence"

What amazes me is that there is so much proof/evidence of global warming, and other climate changes which may or may not signal the end of days...and still people call it a hoax, and say there is no global warming, that things are just going on the way they would normally, and all our Co2 is not harming the ozone layer!!!
The next few years will be ones to watch.

I would say that the best thing to do would be to prepare physically, mentally, and spiritually. But how do you prepare for something that you can't even be certain of? Quite the dilemma.

I have been hearing the last days are coming since i was a young child maybe the times are upon us and maybe not noone can really tell some said it would in in 2000 but noting happened

I really don't know what to think of the bible or Mayan theories but I do know that this planet has been evolving continuously and its time for another catastrophic event according to history. We are probably at fault for hurrying it along more than likely and whether or not the human race will be a part of the future when this happens remains to be seen.

The only thing we need to worry about in The Bible is how to love thy neighbor.

i've never been worried about the end of days. i figure that if it happens it happens and there's nothing that i can do about it. But i'm a pessimist so it's my nature to think in this way. i just try to live my life to the fullest on a day to day basis because if i think about it too much i'll just bum myself out. but when it comes down to it i do think the world as we know it will come to an end. it was created, therefore, it will one day be destroyed.

such a scarey thought... where do I want to go? I think it was close to 2012 also that Nostredameous(sp?) phrophetsized the last days. Many of his phrophacies have come true, depending on how they are interreted.

Wars, rumor of wars, famine, unpredictable weather, earthshakes, famine, ya know the bible has been pretty accurate in its description of the foretold last days, even the unexplainable objects in the sky, it really does make you wonder whats going on, and is the book perhaps more truth than people want to beleive.

I think that the world is changing due to the way have abused everything from the enviroment, to one another. Food shortages, energy shortages, terrorism, wars, diseases, etc.. will only make us hopefully step back and reevaluate the way we are living today and make those changes that are furiously important. We have been living as though nothing could be depleted and the earth could never fall into any sort of ruin or decay which of course, we now know is untrue.

The earth, just like everything else living on it, has it's cycles, and perhaps we are entering one of those cycles - however, whatever IS happening, humanity has done nothing but push it even further and faster along.

If anything kills this planet and all of it's living things, it won't be religion based - it will be our fault.

Humans destroy. That is who we are. No other creature on this planet could do the kind of damage we have done. But I am optimistic that we will change. I am hopeful that we as the human race will make those changes and create a better world for those generations that will come after us.

Just being totally honest here...I try not to think about it too much at all. Granted, I have no fear of death for myself but I still don't ever try to figure that end of the world stuff out at all.

2010 is a mark and the calendar goes on, not for the guys who made it… funny enough the event it marks was before there time and also after… so why bother one should ask… as they predicted there demise.

As for the bible claim of the end of times??? … it had a time it belived to be the end and it is now believed that is who burnt Nero’s Rome to the ground attempting to bring validation to the bible belief of the end of the world…. Now long past n being dug up again? How it only had one end of the world lol….. makes you wonder how vague the bible documents must be? Just like Nostradamus writing in old French in his time this was an out of date dead language so it was hard to understand in the first place as an almost forgotten language.

Although these could be signs of the end of days, I don't see our days ending anytime soon...human beings are like roaches...we can't die. We will rise up from the ashes a 1000 times, we will not go quietly into that good night...I do not feel that we will see the end of days in our lifetime, nor anytime in the near future...

According to some people that I've heard talking, we are. I used to read the bible and I do remember prophesies being made, such as man believing that there is no more need for religion. maybe its a coincidence, but i do believe the UN are talking about the lack of need for the pope and such. I personally do not believe that we are in the "last days".

most people feel really uncomfortable with the thought of "last days" because in effect it isnt the same as a fear of death - EVERYTHING you knew would disappear along with you.

theres a theory that suggests that the planet moderates and stablises itself along with the species that inhabit it. so as scientists say if were responsible for stuff like deforestation, maybe inadvertantly weve caused global warming - its just the planets way of restoring natural order.
