I was pondering being immortal and as in the films one would have loads of money (how else can you buy a castle n Egor to serve you)lol
My question would be what would you do to make the money as a day job would be out of the question. Lol
Antiques is touch n go as you could buy something no one wants…. I guess latest toys in boxes will become collectors pieces for sure.
You would need a storage place n make it fire proof coz that’s a lot to lose especially if the country goes into recession and crime increases……
Would you turn to crime… and build your riches as a bank robber no bullet can stop?
Tell me and put some thought into it lol
I would probably build my money in the markets, property and possibly in things that tend to hold values well suck as gold and other precious metals...
you could also possibly use businesses to build up your wealth, and be a silent owner, pubs and clubs could also be some good income makers, and they would also serve a secondary purpose of somewhere to spend time
The trick of immortal wealth would be to conceal it so that no one was on to your immortality.
You could rob a bank or several, but you can't exactly purchase a house with suitcases of cash. I think collecting would be easy but it obviously would not be instant. Long term investments would be paramount to maintaining wealth so the trick would be to obtain a chunk of money and then figure out what would be the greatest yield - i.e. stocks, bonds, currencies, gold, sports cards, collector items, etc
It depends really.
In Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, most had money to begin with or stole it from their victims.
It depends on the author.
Holding companies with the original business buried deep in the core. Offshore accounts. Cash businesses --- how about national franchise of taco wagons, the annoying kind around construction sites?
Diversified holdings, all legit.
Vampires would make great gamblers I think, working nights, earning under the mark to avoid the tax man, small amounts at different casinos. Vampires as pimps, and selling drugs. They can't all be noble.
I would think that the vampire would have to be involved with someone wealthy - either that or become a thief.
basically if an immortal were to start amassing wealth it would be the same wealth as everyone else's but they have the distinct advantage of being immortal so they have plenty of time to learn and adapt and let their money grow.
There would be a big difference between having wealth from the past, and holding wealth going forward in todays world. It the past, you could buy a castle with cash, or gold, etc.. Now at day it would be difficult to live in the modern world and pass it on to yourself.
Since you wouldn't age, you couldn't act as your own offspring.
You would have to create a network of identities and holding companies to keep it safe into the future. You would have to pass control of the corporation on.
if someone is immortal, is wealth really the most important thing for them?
Hmm,Maybe I would target a wealthy nation,Take them over by means of killing their leader,Proclaim myself the new king and force them into paying extra taxes and subsidies if they wanted to live another day......LOL
I would bolster societies of influencial people that will do my bidding.. or they shall become very dead. and then their heir will will everything to me.
Wow !Dabbler you have been comtemplating this for a while huh? Well I think I would definatly do night time stuff, and Owning and Running Casinos sounds real good to me, sounds kinda cushy to me. :)
plus always be sure to marry wealthy Spouses... LOL
Just not real sure so much to choose from.
i would open an whore house and half the girls earnings will come to me cause they will live there and be feed and clothed safe so i would do that and and invest ing stock marketing and swiss savings accounts
well i think investing is good. But also stealing money from your victims would be another way to keep money flowing in
My wealth would be obtained by medical technology, especially in blood products.
u could be an inventor... u would hav lots of time to think of new things
True on the inventor thing. And who says you couldn't be out in daylight. But most of it would be investments over time in my opinion. You would have plenty of it. Stocks, currency, corporations...so on and so forth.
I wouldn't. I find it wrong to take what doesn't belong to you. I believe in working for what you get.
I would, and who wouldnt?
I would do and understand alots way of how to do numerous things succesfuly.
One of the most entertaining and amasing things would be to work in a circus as a Bullet Proof "Man", wich always gets literaly full of led in front of the eyes of the crowd, and always gets up.
That talent would earn me loads of money, and universal fame wich would know no limits in the eyes and the world of mortals.
Cherry you are a breath of fresh air. Gee you actually have to work to get something. Keep that up and the "Me" Generation might have to get away from the TV. LOL
the possibilities are endless as to go about gathering wealth... depends on the person and how savvy they are with stocks, bonds, investments, and schemes, and I like the idea of being the ultimate stunt person or dare devil.. but got to make it look good so people don't know you are immortal. Talk about marrying for money and being able to outlive the other and inherit.
Me, I perform small creative services such as designing MySpace profiles, banners, avatars, logos, and such. I get paid something decent at least once a day.
If I were immortal I would probably go into anatomy strongly as I want to already. I would learn all that I could and continue to do that. They seem to make a lot of money. On the side I would still do art which is my main interest. I would be able to pain forever. How wonderful ^_^ perfecting my art skills.
Since you'd have a lot of time .-> even a small investment at moderate returns will make you rich. Just have patience ...
Patience, smarts, and good old fashioned hard work always pays off... especially for an immortal!
I'd certainly buy land. Nothing equals investing in land. Especially if you plan on living for centuries.
I think as an immortal your wealth would grow with the time you are alive, markets investment to help it grow. But ttime will increase your wealth, aperson with 40,000 50 years ago and multiply that with the years riches.
I think it would have to be old fashioned theft....I mean I would be taking blood and life......so theft of money would'nt upset me lol
If I had immortal wealth, I think that I would share it with the needy of the world and for the good of the people in it.
if i had immortal wealth, i would keep investing and buying mass products made in and by Americans, and then the stocks would go up
Getting the money seems simple enough since thieving it would be such an easy task for a vampire, mind you I would only steal it from the ones that don't really need it and have more than enough to go around.
Since I would be immortal and time is on my side I would have to go with the majority here and say I would invest it in stocks, bonds and real estate.
the ones that "dont really need it" are the ones who worked the hardest, so i would not steal from them because they deserve it
Thats not true in all cases, many inherit their money without lifting a finger and I can think of a million other such instances but that would be off the subject now wouldn't it.......
no, it wouldnt.. and those who inherit hav inherited from people who have worked their asses off.. and do u think people are born into certain families by chace? i think not, so every1 has worked for what they hav.. there is a famous mystic saying "for those who have, more shall be given 2, and for those who hav nothing, even that is taken away"
My personal opinion is that NO not everyone has gained their wealth the good old fashioned way, you would have to be ignorant to believe that.
1.. Set up a company that is layers and layers as it grows, never being seen as the owner. I mean- do you know who owns Sharp? Who started it? Has the most stock? Become a name- not a face.
2. Land. Something that is worth more today then ever- something that is never going to be made again but by the hands of god.
3. Look to the future. Space, energy developments, medical discoveries, military weapons.
4. What has happen in the past will happen again. War, disease, crime, and the world coming to a end as we ruin the planet. (Ice Age ring a bell- and that was not even our fault)
You take this and you plan so that when it does happen - you make money from it. That way in 2108 you will be in a space ship, looking out at the darkness of space.
:)
that is a great idea and well thought out, but we arnt ruing the planet.. growing a buisness seems like the best thing to do, especially if u can go international
And the topic of earning wealth the good old fashion way- meaning working for it.... my parents did just that. And they did not rob anyone.
You willing to work, and spend it wisely leads to savings. You take that and do something with it- It takes money to make money. If you are lucky you make more and more as you save... and you have money.
It takes work to keep any wealth. If you don't think so- you never had any to worry about.
I'd have to say that starting out a middle class tax paying citizen and becoming immortal would be fun in the money business...for a while at least.
I think I'd use my charm and powers of persuasion, assuming they come with the immortality deal of course, to overtake some big gangsters. Nothing so big that they are missed right away, but missed enough by the rest of the gangstas that I would be respected by them and in turn bleed them dry, over time *both literally and metaphorically*!
Taking over the gangs and their money would be where I'd start out. Yep, investing, stocks, bonds and all that whoopla is good, but I'd spend some of it on art and artifacts, you know, some timeless pieces.
*wakes up from my immortal dream*
selene, that would be fun
witchhaven, it does not take money to make money and ther are countless examples
lol very funny healer.
We are all slaves to the credit system even you must know that?
You need money to make money, im not talking about a hard week work on a building site, were talking gambles on events n if you lose 10 thou great it meant nothing.
Next part is one needs to keep gain clean so we use lawyers and accountants to clean n pay the biggest thief’s the government and there taxes.
Business is dirty and underhanded, very political and those who are at the top lack moral judgment just look at the illuminati. Lol
bill gates started off poor, the two brothers that started mcdonalds started off making milkshakes, the 4 makers of facebook were 4 college buddies just trying to get by, the owner of the largest steel company in the world is now buisness parterners with the 3rd richest man in the world, and the steel owners name is Craig Bouchard (just stayed at his house last weekend) and he went to college at illionis state... lets see.... dennis waitley and jim rohn started off poor, and now they are millionairs.... there are more self-made millionairs today in America then ever before
interesting story
there were these two twins, one became a millionaire, and one became an alcoholic and was poor... they interviewed the two brothers and asked the poor one "why are u unsuccessful" and he said "my dad was an alcoholic".... they asked the rich brother "why are successful", he said "my dad was an alocholic"
I know it’s hard healer to find out school programs you with properganda.
Bill gates stole the idea that made him rich, he even convinced us we need to pay for a tangible concept called software.
Macdonlds learnt how to drive a slave trade and destroy rainforest to grow cows for a year n then the land turns to desert not to mention the waste so you can have a rotten burger.
If you knew more you would understand… im sure as life goes on you might realize
i also know very rich people, funny enough one not so long ago told me a story.
The best story I was told by him so far, he said he went to London England from our home town and all he had was this stick and a napkin like dick Whittington and set about buying to make his fortunes… the story goes on and then right on cue someone asks what was in the napkin … to which Richard replies oh about 20 million lol
that is a good story.. did u hear about that one girl that died recently? she never bout new clothes and she raised her two kids in a small apartment.. she raised her two sons to be very hardworking people, and while they were in college she died, leaving behind like 10 or 15 million
*sigh*
When I said it takes money to make money- it's as in you have to grow. What would of happen if the McD's brothers had not open another place? and another?
You have to spend money to make it. You have to advance, take chances, to make it.
Yes- people with no money can make billions. But how? They work. It might not be honest, it might not be what most would see a good- but they work and make it.
Never seen a person who made a $100.00 dollars sit on their ass and end up rich. Greed drives people- wanting to have even more money. Money to make money.
No is it urban myths? Or just one tight mum lol
I must say I give my last pound to my kids .. iv gone hungry as they decided to eat my bloody steak rather than there space shaped chicken bits. Lol
I would take a talent that would be popular and use it until something went wrong or it failed then I would get another talent and become a "Jack of All Traides" type person. It would give me alot of options on what I could do to get money and it wouldn't make me steal from the bank or another person.
My mentor and best friend john lawhon dad died n he left home for personal reasons.
Aged 9 he worked at a fabric making factory and lived so far from work a sales man used to give him a life… didn’t take john to long to click on brand new car or stave n walk 30 miles to work… he became very big and all done by sales, made the first radio adverts for sales n tv after marring miss America who went into TV.
Now that’s the closest to hard work iv seen and because of him you have the Brick in Canada or rooms to go to name a couple.
Do you think a sales man gets rich by integrity or lies?
ps he has his own jet in tulsa where i spent my birthday with him
the actualy mcd's brothers did not open another place... they made milkshakes and were bought out, the person that bought them agreed to keep their name, but he turned to making fast food, but i see ur point
