If you to google or youtube, Type in UFOs, Ghosts, Bigfoot or supernatural beasts, You'll come up with hunderds of webpages offering proof of there existance. If you do the same for vampire's, All your likely to get is Tale's of legends. No video's, rarely "First hand accounts" No proof what-so-ever. This obviously suggests that they dont exist.

What are your thoughts?
Do you beleive that Vampire's are real and that somewhere there is proof, Or, do you beleive vampire's are legend and legend only meaning no proof is attainable?

I believe that vampires do exist. They might be a hidden breed in the world but I feel that they are there. I don't have any actual proof that vampires do exist but we never know what is out there.

Forgive but I am not following the question that you are asking. The only thing that I can find on the web pages are the two that I listed.

I believe that humans who live a vampire lifestyle exist.

The legendary vampire that lives in books and in Hollywood...no.

No immortals feeding off of blood...none of that. No.

I guess that's where someone is into drawing energy from someone else, either through blood or psychically....or bloodplay.

I guess that's a fair assumption of it.

I do not believe in the existance of vampires. By that I mean I do not believe someone has to drink blood in order to survive, will burst into flames if they go outside during the day, or can live forever. I do believe that some people have chosen to live a sort of vampiric life style, I am sure there is plenty evidence of that...but I highly doubt the existence of the vampires of legend.

I suppose another question within this question is "What do you consider to be a vampire?"

Just because you're able to find information on these topics or beings, doesn't mean they exist any moreso than vampires, it only means there is more inofrmation available on those topics. Otherwise, why do a google search when you're on a website that is the largest vampire database around? Looking for information on vampires? Read Vampire Raves members articles, check out the VR database, do a forum thread search, there's plenty of information right here on this site!
Just because information is limited on a certain subject, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

I was about to offer up vampirerave.com as website that actively discusses everything vampiric. There are old forum threads that discuss the origins of vampires in various cultures around the world. Vampires are by no means a recent creation of the mind and the idea of a blood-sucking creature can be found in the historical Mayan and Egyptian civilizations. There are tales of vampire like monsters in China called kiang shi. Nepal and India have their own folklores about vampires as well. For more contemporary references, I would suggest checking out UpirLikhyj's profile and journal about Slavic Vampires.

Do a forum search on “real vampires” “the history of vampires” “Lilith” and a plethora of threads will pop up giving information detailing the existence of a legendary vampire like creature from as far back as history has been recorded on walls.

Actually I think that there is too much evidence, The folkore of many cutlures mention them, vampires are th second most widely circulated myth, legend, fact, alongside the story of the great flood. Many graves have been found with severed heads, stakes throught the heart.

The question posed in this thread is not about modern day versus mythological legends, but merely one of substantive proof of a vampire. Regardless if it is modern day or the legends of Camazotz, Kiang shi, Upir’ Likhyj, Strigoe, Lamiae, Rakshasas, or the many other names of a blood drinking creature from around the globe throughout time in combination with the self proclaimed modern day psy and sang vampires that fill this site, there is plenty of evidence especially when compared to bigfoot sightings, ghosts, etc.

I'm not sure, like someone else said, I'm sure theres more to this world than meets the eye. Maybe vampires are just good at hiding :)

there are physical anomalies which can be construed as vampiriric, gums drawn back (big long name); aversion to sunlight (I have this); people rising early from their graves.. these things are proven.

I believe the lifestyle of a "vampire" exists and nothing more. People attribute the drinking of blood to vampires, just look at what we named the bats :P

People do not rise from the dead to feed on the living, it just doesn't make sense. Unless there is some spot separate from logic that is full of magic and brings these creatures back to life... No... Vampires exist only in legends and popular books.

I agree with Kontradiction. It is in the lifestyle you lead. The Hollywood version of Vampires may seem to be what people want to believe in, and some choose to believe in that, but the truth is that is in only Hollywood and movies and books. Now I do believe that humans live the lifestyle, some go to the extreme and others just do it because they can, like a powertrip or something.

I have to agree, although I do believe in Psy Vampires. Those who's personalitys just suck the life out of you.

I myself have wondered many times, and after a lot of reasurch i came to the conclusion that In the legendery sence...no. Or the way they are portrayed in Hollywood movies. But there are people that i know of and personally know that live a vampire lifestyle.

I am not advocating the true existence of the Hollywood take on vampire mythology, but there are indeed many instances of vampire like creatures across the globe in so many remote areas that one has to ponder how these folklores existed and thrived.

The "vampire lifestyles" that many of you speak of are not a recent development. The proof exists in oral history along with recorded writing and pictures dates vampire like creatures over 5000 years old. Is the modern take or "vampire lifestyle" mimicking these traditional folklore or are they a representation of how perhaps small groups of individuals throughout history partake in a counter culture ritual of blood drinking?

Most of this footage of bigfoot and other myths tends to be proven false anyway. This means in the end that it truely is up to what you as a person beleives, and scientific evidence can just go take a long walk off a short peir. Thats how I feel anyway.

Ok again I agree with Dragon tears .. in a sense.. I mean actually all the stuff you see on YouTube / Google etc.. about any of these things whether it be Vampires WereWolves, Bigfoot etc.. can be explained as real or false... just however they want to believe it to be.

Grant it I know several people whom live a vampiric Lifestyle (by Choice) and people whom believe they are WereWolves etc.. yet as far as actually existing well until it can be proven without a shadow of a Doubt.. I believe in many things.

So if some Disease and Illnesses, lead people to believe in vampire, existed, and they did. Since then we have been blessed by advancements in heath care, to cure of heal those things once considered vampire proofs.. so we have cured the Vampire out of existence.

“Satan’s greatest deed was convincing man that he does not exist”. Let’s take a practical look at this. Let’s say a vampire; the undying kind is walking amongst us feeding on the non weary. A creature of this stature would be wise enough to know that if he was ever discovered or if actual proof of him came forth the hunt for him would begin and would end in his demise. A vampire could not exist if he was happily smiling for a camera or posing for pictures, I mean come on, and that would be suicide. The first rule for the vampire is telling no one who or what you are. The true vampire would be the one throwing doubt to those who believe in his existence. He would not ant to be discovered and if you found his true identity and had proof, he would quickly destroy you and anyone you told about it. And if it did slip out it would simply be considered the ravings of a lunatic. Truly that is how legend is born, how the vampire would survive.

For a site dedicated to Vampire Fiction, It always amaze's me at how many different opinion's about vampire's there is.

I don't think mythological vampires have ever existed, however, I do believe legends were made from sightings of creatures like them.

The proof is right here. People who take on the lifestyle....that's the real vampire. The Hollywood type vampire I don't think you're gonna find.

Bones - your right, just because theres info,vids what have you on the subjects of what was listed doesnt mean they exsist! There have been many hoaxes and stuff on these subjects.

my opinion - Vampires may exsist, like witches and wizardsand all those things that go bump in the night. We all know why the word vampire comes from, vlad the impalor. He didnt drink human blood, but did drink sheeps blood, or so i am told. We may never find out if they exsist, or we may already know. I think you dont have to drink blood to be a vampire, feed on other people, and if i were a vampire i would not wish to be known as one!

The answer to this question depends on your definition of the word vampire.

If you are referring to vampires, such as the "undead" creatures depicted by Bram Stoker, Laurell K. Hamilton and Anne Rice, then I would have no definitive answer.

If you are referring to mortal blood drinkers (i.e., Vlad Ţepeş, Erzsébet Báthory, Gilles de Rais, Fritz Haarman, John Haigh) and those of today who are Sanguinarians and Psi Vampires--then a definite yes.

There have been so many stories movies and folklaw past down through generation that it is hard to tel what is real and what is not. We all have the preception of vampires as mean blood sucking imrotal beings that have been around forever, am i right? We do not know for sure what is real and what is not.

I cant remember even knowing about vampires till my teens. and then yeah it was cool to watch these perceptions on dvd's and videos and reading about them in books, and we have all at some point wanted to be one. Like many other threads on here the hand all points in the same direction to the stories and movies. there may be only a millagram of true in them.

see i may not have websites but i do have a book that talks about real supernatural beasts. in it they talk about count von dracula son of dracula the impaler. count von dracula is the real deal when it comes to vampires that is why when that stupid abc show "scariest placest on earth" happens and people go to his castle they never do come back or they run as fast as they can. dracula is still alive that is why transivania is the way it is.

Where did the idea that they had to be blood drinking come up, lol? If one were say like those that are cliche', that most think of as a vampire, why would they make themselves known? I would think they would stay in the shadows and let humans make up all the nutty stories they can about them so no one would recognize one if they ever saw one. It's called misinformation for survival.

my thought process tells me that vampires are mythical and are of folk lore. Vlad the Impaler. People believed was a vampire, but if you look at that part of history, he was just crazy and figured out a way to keep back the enemy, which was terrifying and twisted. My heart however, wants to believe in vampires, as I see the sexual side of the vampire as all encompassing to myself. They are sexy at least, the vampires of todays novels. Just because there is a certain lack of evidence for something does not mean it does not exist that just makes it a little harder to find. I DO believe that vampires exist. Most things in legend have ,something however small it may be, some truth to it.

I do not have the proof that I need in order to believe. I would like to believe, but again, need proof.

Actually, since we would be considered thier food source, would we really want that. Assuming they existed, what if they like the rest of the world started to expand territory? It would not take long to either exhaust your food supply or turn enough people into vamps to solve the problem of being a minority.

Its not good to go by lists some people make. I have researched many people who some claim are vampires and most of the claims have been way later and some very recently. Some have urban legends built up about them when you look into court transcripts of testimony, such as Bathory. I don't know where they got the idea she bathed in blood because when they did the trials both of which she never attended there was no mention of drinking or bathing in blood. She was a sadist...she got pleasure out of torturing and killing young women. Only reason she got caught was because she killed some of noble blood. Don't get me wrong she did some pretty outrageous things. This is the first time I ever heard of de Sade being labeled a vampire. That's a new one on me. There are a lot of things floating around these days that are simply untruths that have built up around people. How can you get evidence when a lot what is out there is erroneous anyway?

i believe that vampires do exist but there isn't any proof because people today aren't very open to what is seen as different so vampires aren't as open to show proof of what they are

I like the vampire idea, because frankly, it is a good way to flush out people that lack independent imagination, those that highjack the creativity of others stand out among those that have role playing skills, beyond saying over and over again, I am a vampire. We have some people here with shallow claims, and others with tentative claims, who resort to throwing rhetoric around in the face of questioning( simple questioning, even from those symathetic to their claims.) so to me a person that has the whole package down.. stands out among the posers.

i think it's because vampires are still a mystery and yet even in todays society alot are closed minded and don't wish to believe that such a creature can exist.

Folklore vampires I think really do not exist, the life style of a mortal(sorry we all are) and their fasination with vampiric culture do exist. so when we understand this the culture and society we have or will create makes us vampire by nature of breaking socities fears.

Personally I think Vampires do exist but not in the classical way people think. I also believe that these vampires aren't out to get attention.

Most of what people think as a vampire is fiction and nearly ALL those who claim to be a vampire (vampire, lycan, allergic to sunlight etc) are delusional.

As for "first hand" proof I can't really provide a video lol And on the genetic side there's really no studies that have been done.

I think that vampires do exist because there is a spell that I am aware of that a person can say to become a Vampire but they won't be a born vampire.

I think that as far as animated corpses go its up to the individual. There really is no proof of a corpse being animated except for teh heresay that has been passed on from people centuries ago. However, i do believe the modern day people who live the vampire lifestyle and believe they are vampires have evolved off of animated corpses. I mean think about it, humans evolved from monkeys, somewhere down the line genes altered and we became human. Who is to say that an animated corpse once existed, something happend and now we have living vampires. It's totally possible. Thats the joy of mysteries.

I mean put DNA test prooving the vampire "gene" then we may speak of ways to proove after that online with hair sample or pictures or even interviews.

I thought that the vampire's ability to go unnoticed is what made it so terrifying. I mean, think about it, if someone says "I'm a vampire." do you believe them? No, you don't. You don't because of all the stories you've read, heard and seen. It seems to fantastical. It's like hiding in plain sight. Any evidence that might come out will only be laughed away as being fictitious.

Here is something for everyone to ponder. A vampire is generally considered to be a being that lives off the blood of another to live. EVERY HUMAN begins life living off the blood of their mother in the womb. Does that prove the existence of over 6 billion living vampires? If you prefer to think of energy vampires, how about the fact that everyone of us (humans) lives off of the energy of other living things whether of plant or animal origin. The energy in those once living things is transformed from one type to another to run our bodies. So is that proof?

They do exist and they wouldn't go around blabbing that they are one to everyone around the world either. They would be choosey on whom to speak to about such things but i'm sure after living the life of one, it wouldn't be a great deal to them probably, no more than it's a big deal that we're humans. It's just a fascination to us probably because it's more of a kept secret which makes it more alluring.

As I understand it, vampires are a secretive bunch. Intelligent too, now, if they wanted to be secretive, I am sure they'd be able to be. Their mythical lifestyle doesn't really call for many survivors to go out and tell the tale either. At least, not first hand.

A vampire to a normal person is what they have seen on the tv and in movies, books and other media. What is a vampire. Who created the word, the imagery? A vampire is something different to every one person. My definition is different from yous. So who are we to say whether they exist. The air exists, you cannot see it, but it is there. Are aliens on other planets? How do we know? Just because we do not see them does not mean they are not real.
